Restoring iPod music to a new computer

can I restore my iPod music to a new computer directly from my iPod?  My first PC HD crashed.

The only file(s) was on the crashed HD.  I also have an older macbook.  If I create a new user on it, shouldn't I be able to sync the ipod with all its music into the itunes of the new user?  Also, can I set up the new-user itunes to default to an external drive ( because there may be a space issue due to the large amount of music)?  Would there be any permission issues with the new user?

  • My old computer crashed, so I bought a new computer. How can I get my IPOD music in the new computer

my old computer crashed. I bought a new one. I installed Itunes, with a new account. I cannot get my music from my ipod touch to the new computer. It is all music I had downloaded from cd's I have purchased through the years. Every time I try to authorize the new computer, it wants a credit card number for the ITunes store. I don't want to buy more music now, I just want to be able to get my songs in my new computer. This is driving me crazy. any help, since the phone support is not available when I am. Thanks.

The music sync is one wa - copmputer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your comptuer.  Use your backup to  put everything back

  • HT1335 ipod music to a new computer

i have an ipod nano and i want to transfer the music to my new laptop, how do i do this without erasing all the songs, the computer i used to use was a mac, and my laptop uses windows

To use it with Windows, the iPod's storage will need to be reformatted (to a Windows format), so it will be erased. Although a Mac can read the Windows format, a Windows PC cannot read the Mac format (without extra-cost third-party software).  So, Windows cannot access the data currently on the iPod, using iTunes or any other application.
Do you have access to that previous Mac?  If you do, you should transfer the song files directy between that Mac and your Windows laptop.  You can use an external drive that is formatted using "FAT," which is accessible from both Windows and Mac.

i moved all of my music to my new computer and now the songs stop before the end of them or it skips to the next one on the ipod how can i fix it easily

Assuming your library was in the standard layout before you started move the rest of the iTunes folder to the root of the external drive, move the iTunes Media folder inside it, and shift-start iTunes to connect to library file at \iTunes\iTunes Library.itl.

It doesn't quite work that way. Transfer your music from the old computer to the new one. Then, sync the iPod.
