Restoring Ipod Touch- Lose updated firmware?

I updated the firmware on my ipod touch 1G to ver. 2.2 via Itunes, and now may have to do a "restore". Question: Will I have to re-download (and pay another $10) the software/OS update after the restore, or will Itunes remember that I just paid for that update and allow me to download it again? Thanks for any help.

Hello Today I restored my iPod Touch as it was acting strangely, mail app freezes etc. After I restored in Synced with my computer but the January Software update would not install. I hope this restore did con me out of 20 dollars and I am hoping someone can assist me.

Did you restore the iPod on the same machine that you bought the software upgrade?
If not then you need to restore it on the machine where the upgrade was purchased or copy the upgrade file to the new computer. You need to do a search in these forums to find the details of the file you need.

That is not supported by Apple. If you are getting a network timeout error, disabling the computer's security software usuallys resolves that error.

IPOD touch 3g updated and then wiped out?? What can I do? It didn't warn me or anything that it would wipe my memory. Is there anyway to recover my lost data? I don't understand how it can do that, I have hundreds of dollars in music on it!!!

The backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music. If those are not in the iTunes library on which you did the update then they are gone. This has been the case for all updates and restores.
