Restoring iTunes backup - calendar problem

Hi,
I connected iPhone with iTunes using usb. iTunes made backup and everything seemed to go well, but then suddenly calendars in iPhone and in Outlook were wiped out. I can restore backup from iTunes to iPhone, but Outlook (2010 Exchange version) will overwrite calendar immediately.

So the version of the Calendar on the iOS device is the correct one....it seems like if you turned cell data and wi-fi off, did the restore, then connected to a desktop version of Outlook via iTunes..in the desktop Outlook you'd have to create another calendar folder, then sync the iOS device calendar items to the newly created folder/calendar...you'd then have the calendar items in Outlook( albeit a different folder/calendar) and could experiment a bit with how to get them back in the correct Outlook calendar folder...another option would be to sync with the main calendar folder in Outlook, but i always get nervous moving around all my data at one time in case something "bad" or unexpected happens.  I'd probably also keep the desktop version of Outlook offline (not connected back to the exchange Server) until you had a chance to move  items from one calendar folder to the other  and see what happens.  I think the worst that would happen is you might get some duplication of calendar items....

I restored my iPad and then i clicked "Restore iTunes backup". It is finished but on the iPad screen it says connect to iTunes. I connected it to iTunes but it says the same thing. What should I do?

You are in Recovery Mode. Follow the instructions below to recover your iPad.
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port. (Make sure you have the latest version of iTune on your computer)
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
    3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
    5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.

  • Problem Restoring iTunes backup from DVD

I've searched and haven't seemed to find an answer to my particular issue, so if this has been asked and answered apologies. Here's my situation:
I am able to backup my entire library on my windows computer to move everything over to my imac. During the backup I didn't get any error messages. I restore the backup from DVD but for some reason one of the disks just will not restore and I have to keep skipping it. I can open it up and I see the files there, compilation folder with songe folders inside, some audio books, an album or two purchased from iTunes and a few albums from CDs that I actually own the physical media. I presume something is corrupted but don't know what.
My question is this: has anyone else experienced a similar situation and if so, were you able to get the disk to restore? If not, is there a way that I can select just the items from this bad disk to backup so that I don't have to do the entire back up again? As previously mentioned, I can browse the "bad" DVD and can see the items and folders? At the very least, I'd like to backup and restore the itunes purchased music and audio books and compilations; the other items I can just import from the cds that I own.
Thanks...I'm really getting frustrated after having tried this five or six times.

  • Problem restoring iTunes backup from DVD - please help.

    Hi all,
My iTunes library is currently on our laptop. I've used the iTunes backup wizard to create two backup DVD's using the internal Optiarc DVD writer.
When I try to restore the DVD's on my new PC, iTunes freezes up for about 10 minutes with the DVD/CD-RW combo drive very active.
After about 10 minutes iTunes gives the error message "The disc "Backup2008-09-08" cannot be read. An unknown error occured (-50)."
The DVD set opens okay in iTunes on the laptop. I've tried using both iTunes 7.7 and 7.5 on the PC for the restore with the same error.
I can also see the contents of the DVD on the new PC - but it says "Files 'currently' on the CD' at the top of the windows - does this mean that the DVD has not been finalised by the laptop?
Any help, as always, greatfully appriciated.
    Cheers,
    Steve.

  • During iPhone 4 update or restore, "iTunes encountered a problem and needs to close." Help?

I have the latest version of iTunes, version 10.3. Every time I try to update or restore my iPhone 4, iTunes crashes and gives me the error message "Itunes encountered a problem and needs to shut down." I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and Quicktime, but no dice. My phone is stuck in a recovery mode loop, and I need to restore it in order to fix it because tinyumbrella, iRecovery, iReb, and RecBoot all didn't work. It just boots back up in recovery mode again. I need to get my iTunes fixed so I can save my phone. Please help.
    Here is the error signature:
    AppName: itunes.exe        AppVer:10.3.1.55     ModName: msvcrt.dll
    ModVer: 7.0.2600.5512     Offset: 000372e3

No, no luck. I went to the Apple store to get my phone out of the recovery loop, but iTunes still crashes whenever I try to sync it or download any large files. I was lucky to get my backup of my phone put into the phone so I didn't lose all my contacts and everything. All I know about the error message is that it has to deal with there being a problem during iTunes interacting with that .dll file. Either the file is corrupt, or the latest version of iTunes works with a different version of that file. I can't figure out how to fix it.

  • Just reinstalled Windows, Can't restore iTunes backup

I just reinstalled Windows 7 on my computer, and after installing the latest version of iTunes available from Apple, I can't restore any backup I made prior to the reinstall, with iTunes giving me error code -69.
I've tried reinstalling iTunes, but no dice so far. Should I be trying to do anything else to get this working?

  • Restore iTunes backup from Time Machine?

It all began when I noticed the YouTube app was missing on my 1st gen iPad (iOS 5.1.1). Couldn't figure out how to reload just the app, so I decided to restore the iPad. I did this last week, when I had the iPad replaced at the AppleStore, and had no problems restoring from backup.
This time, however, when the restore operation finished, only a handful of the several dozen apps had been restored (and YouTube was still missing). Now I'm thinking that the backup didn't properly complete before the restore operation was started, and this incomplete backup is now the default.
Is it possible to retrieve an older backup (yesterday) from Time Machine. Is that possible? Hate to think I've permanently lost all my data in all those apps.

  • Restoring Itunes Backup

I changed computers and I recently tried to restore the Itunes backup. There are 174 songs on the back up but only 124 will restore. It gets stuck at 124 and will time out and eject the backup CD. I can click on the Backup CD and listen to the song but I cannot get it to restore to my library on the new computer. Does anyone have an answer for this???

    Does this article help? http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93313
Did you copy your entire iTunes folder to your backup drive, or just your music files? (With hope it was the whole folder and you can find the data and library files.)

  • How to restore iTunes backup with iCloud overwriting everything

I'm trying to restore my iPhone 5s from a iTunes backup however my iCloud is overwriting the restore immediately. My contacts are missing from iCloud, can anyone help

Turn off your wifi, when the device comes up you have a very short window to go to settings, Wifi , turn off wifi before it will sync with iCloud; literally...you have to beat the clock.
Either that, or reset the password to your iCloud account so your device CAN'T sync with it

  • Restoring iTunes Backup Error

I have 8 DVDs of a backup I did on my PC before I restored it. iTunes will backup the first DVD fine. When I put in my second DVD, I get the error "unknown error occurred (-69)". Also if I try to load the disc later, iTunes just freezes up until I eject the disc.
Edit: Also I tried to contact Apple but they actually have no way to contact them about backup errors.

I have exactly the same problem - 1st DVD worked fine, 2nd worked until 255 song out of 721 and the other 4 dvds just cause itunes and my whole laptop to crash Since I'd made the original dvd backup I did an incremental back up using cds - these have worked fine. Beginning to wonder if the dvds just hold too much data for itunes to be able to copy from dvd at one time. Let me know if you find out anything new and good luck. Thanks.

  • Can I restore iTunes playlists to my iPhone4 without using the iTunbes backup on my computer as potentially causing a problem that has required a replacement handset?

Recently had to get a replacement iPhone4 due to a problem with either the firmware or software. Did a complete factory reset and then restore from backup and problem continued so did a full factory reset without restoring from backup and problem still continued so took it to Apple Store who gave me a replacement handset.
New / Replacement handset works perfectly so far and have resrored Apps from App Store, re-entered contact and calender entries (manually) and now want to put a playlist or two from my iTunes Acc back on the handset but don't want to restore from my computer in case the original problem re-occurs.
Is there any way to do this from the handset?
