Restoring iTunes Backup onto my iPad

Hi,
I recently updated my iPad from 4.0.1 to the new iOS 7.0.4. I had made a backup and transferred the apps to my iTunes library. After updating it, I selected the 'Restore from iTunes Backup'. It did restore but it left me on that page. Am I supposed to click 'Set up as New iPad' after restoring, or do I just leave it?

Restore from iTune Backup step by step
1. Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings
2. You will be asked twice if you want to erase iPad
3. Slide to set up
4. Select Language
5. Select Country
6. (a) Use Location Service (b) Don't use Location Service
7. Choose Wi-Fi Network
8. Enter Wi-Fi password
9. (a) Setup as new (b) Restore from iCloud Backup (c) Restore from iTune Backup
10. Select "Restore from iTune Backup"
11. You will be instructed to connect to iTune (computer)
On computer
12. Two options offered
13. (a) Set up as new iPad (b) Restore from backup (a list of backup will be shown)
14. Select Restore from backup and select the backup
15. Continue
16. Restoring iPad from backup
17. The settings for iPad restored

I was trying to update my ipad using my computer and it wouldnt work so I went online and it said to update itunes so I did after that I went into my ipad and I started using facebook then my ipad turned off for no reason I looked at the computer and it said ipad in recovery detected to use ipad you must restore it or somthing like that so I cliked restore thinking I could just get all my stuff back because I had backed my ipad up this morning after it had finished I clicked restore to backup then it said enter the password to unlock your Ipad backup I didnt know what that meant so I tried my AppleID password my Ipad password and every other password I could think of I even tried my old Apple ID password and my computer password but nothing will work.

I think it is asking for the password for your encrypted backup.

You are in Recovery Mode. Follow the instructions below to recover your iPad.
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port. (Make sure you have the latest version of iTune on your computer)
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.

Apple devices can hold protected content from up to five different accounts, however updating apps purchased over more than one account (as far as I'm aware) requires signing in and out of each account. You may be better off continuing to use one account for your family, as I do, but disabling the options on each device for the automatic download of purchases made on the account, and in iTunes, the automatic inclusion of new apps when syncing from the library to the device.

Let me get this straight.....You lost your phone. You never backed it up, either to your computer or to a cloud service.
How in the world would you expect to get data back?

Any chance you encrypted your previous backup? It's a checkbox on the Summary tab of the device in iTunes.

Only a full restore is possible.
However, there are some computer applications which can extract information from a backup file.

This iPad had iOS 4.3.3 and I wanted to update it to the most recent software, 7.1. The first thing I did was I backed it up to my computer so I would be able to restore all of the photos and data after I had updated. At first, I tryed just clicking Update. It kept failing with error 9006. Then, I tryed the Restore and Update. This timed out even though it seemed to be moving alone just fine. The last thing I tried was to wipe the iPad and then update it. This worked. When it came up on my computer, it asked if I wanted to restore from a backup. I said yes and selected the backup that I made. It said Restoring. Afterwards, it took me through the normal process that you would go through to set up a new iPad. at the end of the setup, it asked if I would like to set it up as a new iPad, or restore from a backup. ???????? I tried to restore from backup and it started and endless loop of restoring and setting up, and restoring again. I eventually selected to set up as a new iPad. I cannot firgure out how to get the pictures back onto the iPad from the backup if the restore won't work. I was wondering if it is possible to find the picture files on my computer??? Does anybody have any suggestions or ran into the same problem???
FYI: I was a bit disapointed to learn that the online support chat now costs $20

Just reinstalled Windows, Can't restore iTunes backup

I just reinstalled Windows 7 on my computer, and after installing the latest version of iTunes available from Apple, I can't restore any backup I made prior to the reinstall, with iTunes giving me error code -69.
I've tried reinstalling iTunes, but no dice so far. Should I be trying to do anything else to get this working?

Merge iPhone4s iTunes backup onto iPhone5c

I went swimming in the ocean with my iPhone4s on 7 Sept 2014. I will not tell the story about how I tried to clean it and recover data off it except to say I found a vendor that for $1000+ could do a lot more than any other vendor with still uncertain results. Cannot afford that at this time, but when I can I will pay that to retrieve whatever is possible there. I was neither an iTunes user nor an iCloud user so my iTunes account may or may not have backups but if it does they are old, circa 2010.
In Oct 2014 I bought an iPhone5c and have been using that to now. This therefore has accumulated new communications data (email, txt, contacts) but not much in the way of special apps (iBooks, iReminders, Notes) because my loss of data on those encourages me not to.
What I want to do now is to open iTunes and see if I have an old 2010 iPhone4s backup there (no guarantees since I was not an iTunes/iCloud user). However, it might be the case that my important data (mainly in the special apps: iBooks, iReminders, Notes) predates this in which case if I could retrieve all that and place it on my iPhone5c then I will have only lost the (contacts, txt) data accumulated
My question is when in attempting to place the iPhone4s backup onto the iPhone5c, what is iTunes going to do with the data already on the iPhone5c? Is it going to overwrite the iPhone5c data and place the iPhone4s data beside it, or is it going to ADD/concatenate the two data sets handling conflicts in some clean organized way?

IF you restore from your old backup it will wipe out all new data and replace with the backup data.
