Restoring LAP (AIR LAP1142n) back to default without a controller

So this question may seem extremely simple however I'm having no success following the methods I have found so far.
I received the LAP1142n used with a configuration already setup on it. My end game is converting this device to an AP because I don't have a controller. I can not gain access to it therefore I need to reset it. All the suggestions I see say to hold down the mode button while powering on until the LED turns red.
When I follow these instructions I am put into a mode that I'm unfamiliar with, AP:
As soon as the device is powered off, it reverts back to the configuration that was previous on the device. I have found know know solutions to reset it and I'm struggling trying to figure out what the mode the colon signifies even means.
Any suggestions?

Using a TFTP Server to Return to a Previous Release
Follow these steps to revert from LWAPP mode to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS release using a TFTP server:
Step 1 The PC on which your TFTP server software runs must be configured with a static IP address in the range of 10.0.0.2 to 10.0.0.30.
Step 2 Make sure that the PC contains the access point image file (such as c1200-k9w7-tar.122-15.JA.tar for a 1200 series access point) in the TFTP server folder and that the TFTP server is activated.
Step 3 Rename the access point image file in the TFTP server folder to c1200-k9w7-tar.default for a 1200 series access point.
Step 4 Connect the PC to the access point using a Category 5 (CAT5) Ethernet cable.
Step 5 Disconnect power from the access point.
Step 6 Press and hold the MODE button while you reconnect power to the access point.
Step 7 Hold the MODE button until the status LED turns red (approximately 20 to 30 seconds), and release the MODE button.
Step 8 Wait until the access point reboots as indicated by all LEDs turning green followed by the Status LED blinking green.
Step 9 After the access point reboots, reconfigure the access point using the GUI or the CLI.

  • Macbook air settings back to default?

I opened my Macbook Air today and it had completely gone back to default settings. My e-mail wasnt set up anymore, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, etc were no longer installed, and I lost all my saved documents. The laptop had died 2 or 3 days ago so could that be why? Has this happened to anyone and if so what caused it?

Do you have other user accounts on this Mac?
I have not heard of Mac OS X resetting itself before, and certainly your files would not erase themselves unless you were using a guest account which does reset upon logout.

  • Restoring HP keyboard settings back to default

My "T" button broke, so I downloaded a software called SharpKeys so I can remap the "5" button to the "T" button.  However when I remaped it, now some of my shortcuts do not work such as Left CTRL + V, Left Shift + V ..  The right shift and ctrl shortucts work perfectly.  Even after I deleted the mappings and brought back the "5" button to its original functionality.. the shortcuts still don't work. Also when I turn on my laptop and prompted to enter my password, an uknown letter/number is being added to the password field constantly until i actually press on the field.
Is there a way to maybe restore the default registry or settings of my keyboard.
If there is no way to fix this up, I am replacing my keyboard anyway this Friday so maybe then the problem will be fixed?
Also I have found a weird file in the registry for the keyboard called LastDeleteDate, here is a screenshot http://prntscr.com/6nx8or .
    Thank you!!

Do not play with the registry.
Download Revo Uninstaller Free from this site which is secureto uninstally Sharpkeys.   I have used it many times for hard to uninstall programs completely.

IOS8 is too slow on iPad3! Can I restore to my 7.1.2 backup without having to reset to factory defaults? I have both iCloud and iTunes backups....

    No.
Apple has no support or provision for reverting to a previous iOS version.
Try a reset of your iPad by holding down the power button and hone button simultaneously until your iPad screen goes black and the Apple Logo reappears on screen, then let go of the buttons.

  • I just got an iPhone 5s, and I restored from a previous back up and now I can't restore the phone without "turning off the find my iphone setting"?

I just got an iPhone 5s, and I restored from a previous back up (mistake) and now I can't restore the phone to start again without "turning off the find my iphone setting" but it's using an old email address as the icloud login, which i don't have a password to / never used for an icloud account. I have gone and changed my settings to a different email on my icloud / apple ID but on my phone it won't let me change the email address for icloud, it's greyed over and keeps trying to verify?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • I bought a used macbook air, with reinstalled the OS without iMovie. How can I get iMovie on App free of charge as a default in macbook air ?

I bought a used macbook air, with reinstalled the OS without iMovie. How can I get iMovie on App free of charge as a default in macbook air ?

Unfortunately, as recommended by the lady from CA, as long as the Mac is still associated with the Apple ID of the original owner, you can't even buy those iLife apps with that Mac. You will always get the alert to download them with the original owner's Apple ID.
As suggested by the chavo from España, you need the original owner to contact Apple Care* and request that the OS and the iLife apps be disassociated from his Apple ID. Then you should be free to OS X Recovery to resinstall the most recent version of OS X that shipped with the Mac and install the iLife apps. Afterward, before using any of the iLife apps you need to open the Mac App Store (MAS) to the Purchases pane and Accept these apps into your MAS account's Apple ID. If you use any of the iLife apps before you have accepted them into your account, as per the app's Terms of Use, they all become one-trick-ponies that can not be downloaded onto another Mac or updated.

*If you bought the Mac from a 2nd hand shop and don't have access to the original owner, you may need to provide Apple a purchase receipt to offer proof of sale.

  • How can I restore deleted pictures from an iPhone 5  without back up?

How can I restore deleted pictures from an iPhone 5  without back up?

If you've previously synced the pictures to a computer (as is generally advised to archive them), then they are gone, unless you have backed up the device to itunes or icloud.  If so, you need to perform a restore:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  This will erase your phone.  Then you will go through the setup screens again as you did when your phone is new, and when given the option, select Restore from iCloud Backup.
Note that you cannot restore just one file, it's all or nothing.

  • Hi, I recently received an email which I believed to be from my bank but it turns out it was from someone trying to hack my bank account. I accessed the email on my phone and I wanted to know if I need to restore my iphone back to default settings?

Hi, I recently received an email which I believed to be from my bank but it turns out it was from someone trying to hack my bank account. I accessed the email on my phone and I wanted to know if I need to restore my iphone back to default settings? I am a bit worried about losing everything on my phone if I do this but at the same time I don't want them to get any other information. Any ideas?

Did you log in with your bank account via the link included with this email?
If not, you have nothing to worry about.
Accessing or viewing the email alone can't provide your bank account info or the log in for your bank account.

  • IPhone that was stolen was returned but disabled for a long time! My computer is broken so I can't back it up or restore it. What can I do without losing everything on it!

So my iPhone that was stolen is disabled for 22,237,796 minutes and counting down. My computer with all my backup information is down so I can't restore it without losing everything on it. I really don't want to lose everything on my phone and I really don't want to wait that long. Is there anything I can do? Please help! ;(

    The only options are:
    Wait it out.
Sync the device to the computer it normally syncs with to remove the passcode.
Restore from backup or as new.
Without access to the computer it normally syncs with, your only real option is restore as new.
Keep in mind, pictures can be copied off the device on any computer regardless of the device being locked or not.

  • Restore powerbook g4 to factory default without cd

My sister purchased a powerbook g4 from a pawn shop.  It has a password on it.  How can I reset the powerbook to factory defaults without the install cds?  Will this remove the password and computer name etc?  Also, can Snow Leopard or Lion be installed on a powerbook once that is done?  Thanks.

    1. You can't. Phone Apple Support and order replacement disks, or use a retail Mac OS X 10.4 or 10.5 DVD, or contact the people it was bought from.
    2. See #1.
    3. No.

  • AIR-LAP1142N: Password required, but none set

    Hello!
We have a problem with AIR-LAP1142N access points.
    AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9
    Version 12.4(21a)JA
LAP's are not assotiated with controller yet.
They get the ip address via dhcp, they are reachable by icmp.
When I try to telnet, I get
    Password required, but none set
Is there any chance to get access to them without using serial port?

    1. in general the AP do not responmd to telnet or ssh, but this depends on the state of the AP and the controller settings
I am not sure what state a Defaulted AP is in ...
    2. Normally the AP must resolve, via DNS, the record cisco-capwap-controller.YOURDOMAIN.COM
så make sure you have this in your DNS for that AP (i.e. might be the DNS that the DHCP provide with the IP)
But this link to CCO, provide you info on how DHCP option 43 can be used.
(I find the DNS record much more suitable and easy to use)

  • Unable to Restore iPad Air With iPad 2 Backup

    Hello All,
I just purchased an iPad Air 128Gb Wi-Fi version to replace my iPad 2 64 Gb Wi-Fi version. I tried to restore the iPad Air with the iPad 2 backup through iTunes, but each time it aborts with a message to effect that the iPad 2 backup is either corrupted or not compatible. I tried backing up the iPad 2 again and then restoring iPad Air with the newer backup - but get the same message.
The result of this is that it is trying to sync all my old Apps but without their data - i.e. no previous game saves and the like. It also is not maintaining the folder structure that I previously had on my iPad 2.
Is there some kind of compatibility problem with restoring from an iPad 2 backup? This seems strange since my iPad 2 is only 2 years old. I've seen that other people had similar problems but with different devices. I'm just wondering if anyone has had this problem trying to restore to an iPad Air from an older iPad backup, and how do you get around this problem?
Any help would be tremendously appreciated. I really need to get my old App data and App folder structure from the old iPad backup.
FYI, I made sure that both the iPad 2 and the iPad air are both using iOS 7.0.3 in case that matters.

New problem following up on the previous.
My iPad Air restoration from iPad 2 backup is not proceeding smoothly. Specifically, the Apps are taking forever to download - it's been 48 hours and I have yet to complete the download process. Granted, I had a 64gb ipad 2 but I'm using a cable internet connnection. Also, some of the Apps are being copied without preserving the folder structure from my iPad 2. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to why this is happening.
I tried plugging my iPad Air into iTunes thinking it would reload the Apps faster, but this only results in one of the following situations each time I sync:
    1) The iPad spends a long time syncing, specifically, it hangs on Step 6 without end. If allowed to go overnight, I will discover it the next morning still on step 6.
    2) The iPad finishes syncing (per iTunes), but when I check the iPad, there are still Apps waiting to download.
    3) The iPad syncs, but then it says that 20+ apps could not be copied because of insufficient free space. A look at the status bar shows that there is at least 14-20 Gb free on the iPad Air. (***?)
    4) The iPad syncs, but the few Apps that do copy show up without the folder structure preserved from my iPad 2.
Now, the reason I didn't want to restore from an iCloud backup is to avoid the eternal restore process. I can't figure out why it's taking so long. I kept my iPad next to my wireless router, so I know it's not a router problem. My internet was working so that's not the problem. Now.... I would be happy to restore from an iTunes backup, but I was unable to do so in the first place - kept getting "file corrupted or incompatible" message, which is what prompted me to post in the first place.
    Is anyone else experiencing this?

  • I purchased a new iPad Air. Backed up all my old stuff from my iPad 2. I hooked my new air to my iTunes acct through my laptop

I purchased a new iPad Air. Backed up all my old stuff from my iPad 2. I hooked my new air to my iTunes acct through my laptop & all is good until I did the update today. I show apps that need updates, which before they updated automatically. So when trying to updating it asked for my apple password. I kept Putting it in & it said no good. It is using my daughter I'd, not mine. I have checked all my accounts & settings, nothing has her id,just mine. How do I get it to my id?

Copy the iTunes library from your backup as below:
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.
    Sync with the restored library.
