Restoring media to iTunes

I have an external HD with all my iTunes media on it - how do I rstore it to iTunes? My OS is Windows 7 - thank you.

Have you tried the "Import Playlist..." menu item? That should give you a navigation window/dialog allowing you to access any volume attached to your computer. There's no real need to actually move that Library onto your computers internal drive, as far as I know. Of course, that external drive must be ON and accessible to be used.

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

The instructions are in that link. Just follow them VERY CAREFULLY. Especially the part about:
Turn off your device and leave it off.
Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes. [but DON'T connect it to the iPhone yet]
Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
When you see the iTunes screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 again.
When your device is connected, iTunes will open. You'll see a message saying that iTunes has detected an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in recovery mode.
Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.

Im trying to import music from widows media player to itunes, but when i delete the music from media player itunes can no longer locate it, i just want the music saved to itunes so its not taking up double the space.

Is the replacement exactly the same as the original ie same memory size & same version? If so it may require updating the OS software before trying to restore your stuff from the backup.

If your iPhone is unresponsive after updating your iOS version, then I'd like you to please follow the troubleshooting below.
If you see a black screen
You might need to charge your device before it can turn on. Plug in your device and let it charge for at least 10 minutes (20 minutes for iPad), then try turning it on.
You should see a battery icon while your device is charging. If you continue to see a black screen, reset your device. If your device doesn't respond when you press buttons
Your device might not return to the Home screen when you press the Home button, wake from sleep when you press the Sleep/Wake button, slide to unlock or power off, or it might appear frozen. Try these steps:
Restart your device.
If it still doesn't respond, or if it doesn't turn back on, reset your device.
If your device gets stuck during startup
When starting up, you might see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen for a long time, or your device might restart again. Try these steps:
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

How do I back up my restored iPhone to iTunes, without it reloading old content?

How do I back up my restored iPhone to iTunes, while setting it up as new, without having it reload all my old apps? I tried once, setting it up as a new iphone, and it reloaded all my old apps anyway. I then restored the phone AGAIN, and haven't plugged it into my computer for fear of it doing it again. I want to start over new and back up the "new" phone with my new apps, and sync my old photos, but I do not want to sync old apps.

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present
Connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iPod in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.

I previously had Snow Leopard, and am wondering how I can simply restore ONLY my iTunes library from my Time Machine backup, last made only a few days ago when I had Snow Leopard. Your choice really. Either way will work. Retaining the older backups gives you a way to restore older files. When I upgrade from 10.8 to 10.9, the backups continued without errors. Depending on what you upgraded from, in 10.8/9 you have the option to backup to 2 separate drives thus giving you some protection in case one drive fails. You can either copy the old backup to a new drive (Disk Utility/Restore seems to work best) or start a new one.

If you made a backup before you restored it you can restore your iPhone from a backup and your game data should be restored. When you connect your iPhone in iTunes you can right click on it in the sidebar and select restore from backup.

Lost all my media in iTunes after moving them to a 2d hard drive!

I recently installed a slave hard drive on my PC to free up space for the master drive. Since the stuff on my iTunes was taking up a lot of space, I moved it to the slave drive. However, when I open iTunes, everything has been completely cleared! The songs do appear on the other drive in an iTunes folder. Is there any way I can import all this stuff back into iTunes without having to do it one by one? Or is there a way to just restore the old iTunes list? Thanks!

First, there are a lot of articles on moving your iTunes music to an external hard drive or second hard drive - check those out. I know in iTunes itself you need to go into preferences, advanced, general and tell it where the new iTunes folder will be located. Then if I recall correctly (the articles on moving iTunes from the default location) you drag the iTunes library file to your desktop, restart iTunes and use File-Import to import that library list.
