Restoring music library to new PC from Carbonite backup

I bought a new PC to replace an older one and I am having problems restoring my music library on it. I have Carbonite and all of my iPod files have been restored to the "MY Music" file on the new computer. How do I get them over to iTunes or do I even need to use them? Is there just a way to sync my iPod to the new PC and restore them that way? Please help!

No need to buy anything from the people spamming these forums. There are plenty of free options.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.

  • Restoring Itunes library on new laptop from iphone 4

Hi, my old laptop broke without having made a backup. I now got a new Acer laptop and would like to transfer my tunes from my iphone onto my new itunes library. How do I do that?
Also, my phone does not ring when someone calls. It buzzes, the alarm works, it plays music through its speakers but just no ringtone.
    Help please.

While roaminggnome is correct that you should have taken backups it may not be too late to save some of your media...
    You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

I can import all the MP3 songs but iTunes ignores all the m4a format files. What to do? I have copied them into the music file along with the mp3 files but they still dont open in iTunes.

    From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

  • If I restored my new iPhone from iCloud backup, and I delete the old iPhone backup to make room on iCloud to back up my new phone, will it delete everything on the new phone?

If I restored my new iPhone from iCloud backup, and I delete the old iPhone backup to make room on iCloud to back up my new phone, will it delete everything on the new phone?

I have this exact same issue.  Replaced my iPhone 4s with the new iPhone 5s, setting up my new iPhone 5s to restore from iCloud.  This completed and now I am unable to delete my old iPhone 4s iCloud backup (consuming 15.1 GB of my 20GB allocation).  How can I delete it, so that I get my 15 GB back?  I am not going to invest in additional iCloud storage, because I will be 15 GB down from the off.

  • I just got a new macbook. Is there any way I can transfer pictures or music to this new mac from my old one?

I just got a new macbook. Is there any way I can transfer pictures or music to this new mac from my old one?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
There are different ways to transfer your data from another Mac, but as you just want to transfer pictures and music, the best way is to use an external drive. You can also connect them with a Thunderbolt or FireWire cable, but you need specific Macs to do it, so I prefer the external drive method.
You just have to get an external drive and plug it to the old Mac. Then, open Finder, navigate to the folders with your pictures and music, and drag them to the external drive in the Finder sidebar, under "Devices".
Then, connect the external drive to the new Mac and you will see the external drive in the Finder sidebar after opening a Finder window, so choose it. Then, just copy the pictures and music to the folder you want, for example, Music or Pictures

You cannot reverse an update. Downgrading was never supported.

i am changing from an iphone 3G to an iphone 3GS and i was not offered an option to restore the new device from a backup of the old device - how do i reset the new device to allow me restore the data from the old one to the new one?

Go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings.  This will return it to its new out of the box condition.  Go through the setup screens again and you will be given the option to restore from a previous iTunes or iCloud backup (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109).

Even if I enable the new phone to backup automatically with the cloud? Wouldn't that keep everything up to date? And if I use the software, couldn't I choose to copy just the music & messages to I tunes, and not select anything else to keep the data from the new phone intact? Sorry, this is confusing. I like these products, but Apple really fails on portability. I had this same issue with Ipod years ago, and it ****** me off then too. They sold me (the last time I lost everything) on the icloud, telling me it backed EVERYTHING up. I'm a bit upset at store personnel right now to say the least.
Sorry I was under the impression you still wanted to restore from your old phone backup.
yes if you enable backup on your new phone everything will be up to date.
Yes you can use the software to move music and message to your computer - you would need to add the music back to your iTunes media library.
I provided a link with what is backup to icloud.  YOur purchased item is always tied to your apple id.

  • Restored music library from Time Machine backup, but library didn't change within iTunes. Help?

I don't know much, so please be kind. My iTunes went crazy and relabeled more than 3,000 songs as part of one album by one artist. I tried to fix this by restoring to an earlier-in-the-week version of the music library, but when I opened iTunes afterward, the same error was there. It seems like there must be a way to fix this, and I'm just missing it. Can anyone lend a hand, please?

Additionally, I should point out that the music that exists in iTunes (the actual application) does not agree with the files in the music folder found within the iTunes Media main folder. I don't understand where the wrongly-labeled files are being pulled from when I open iTunes if not from the iTunes Media folder.

  • Using Senuti to restore music library from iPod to iTunes

I am using Senuti (3rd party software) to restore my iTunes library. Restoring the library is no problem, but when I try to restore the playlists the music is recopied into my iTunes music folder and using up all my available memory. Anyone have any suggestions short of recreating my playlists manually in iTunes?

See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • How to restore music library from match

My music library was stored on an external WD hard drive.  It recently crashed and I was only able to recover a portion of my music files.  I have iMatch, and I can download all my previous music to my iPhone using this service, however I do not know how or if I can download copies of the music files in order to recreate my library.  At the moment, on my Windows8 laptop, when I open iTunes, it states it cannot locate the music file, do I want to locate it.    The "cloud" symbol next to the song states there was an error uploading to the cloud.   Is there a way to recover my music files with iMatch?  and why does my iPhone not show the same "error" that the iTunes applications shows on my laptop?   I have a feeling I will have to reburn the couple hundred CDs I have.

To download more than one track at at time highlight the tracks you want to download, right-click and choose "download." However, this is not the most efficient way to restore an iTunes library. You should restore your personal data from the backups you make to an external HDD. You do make backups, don't you?

  • Restoring itunes library to new mac

I used Time Machine to back up everything from my 2008 MacBook to an external drive (via USB).  When I restored the info to my New MAcBook Pro, all files are restored, except for the music library in iTunes and photos in iPhoto.  I can't find an explicit restore function under Time Machine that navigates one to selectively restore specific items.  I am stuck and not sure how to proceed.  can anyone help?

  • Save current ITouch music library on new Laptop

Just received new laptop with Windows Vista Ultimate OS. How do i put my current music library from my Itouch into ITunes library? Downloaded Itunes onto new lappy. but do not want to lose the music that i already have.

You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod Touch:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
