  • I need to restore my IMAC to factory setting but i donot have the disks, where can i purchase mac os x for 10.5.8

I need to purchase mac os x for 10.5.8
would anyone know which version disks i need and where i can purchase them?
I have one pair of disks from my new version of imac but when i try to reset it tells me that this disk can not be used

you can try and call apple sales 1.800.my.apple.  but that is a long shot.  You will most likely need to purchase the retail disk on the secondary market and the 10.5 disk is very expensive, and I don't believe it will contain the applications.

  • Having Trouble Restoring My Notebook To Factory Setting.

I got home one day to find that there was a virus on my HP Pavilion Dv7 -4009tx Enterainment Notebook PC and since I had the important things backed-up on my external harddrive I though it better just to restore my notebook back to factory settings, I find it the best way to rid myself of problems like that. (they happen rarely anyways).
So I shut down my notebook and then start it up and press F11, the window with three boxes popped up, I already knew what to do but the option to set my notebook to factory settings wasn't in the first box where it should be, thinking I made a mistake I looked on the internet and it said that is how you do it. Confused out of my mind as to where the option went to I tried the other three options available in the "I need help immediately" box and however the notebook did restore back to factory settings but no completely, the programs and software that originally come with the notebook were no where to be found.
I tired the other method of restoring by using the restore manager, the option to restore my notebook to factory setting was there to my much delight and I clicked it expecting it to restore itself but instead after restarting it come to a window with system restore and startup repair and some other options.
I really am lost to how to restore my notebook back to its originally factory settings like I had done a few times before. Does anyone know what is going on or what I am doing wrong. My notebook is only turning two years old soon meaning it isn't that old to be having such odd problems and I really do need my notebook to do my uni work so I need to fix it as soon as I can.

    Hi,
Virus issue has most likely corrupted the partition on the computer. In such cases you'll be unable to perform factory reset from the recovery partition.
You'll have to perform recovery using the HP Recovery Discs. If you did not create any recovery media after purchase then you can either order them online or directly call technical support to get the discs shipped out to you. This will take the computer back to factory settings again.
Here's the link to order them online:
Order Recovery Discs for Windows 7, Vista, or XP
    Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

  • Restoring Macbook Pro to factory setting

    Hi
I follow the instruction of the Apple website for restoring my system into factory setting everything was fine until I needed to connect my macbook pro to wifi.
the problem is under no circumstances  the machine could fine the wifi network.
I have tried several wifi networks and still I cannot connect it to the network (main problem is either finding the network or Authentication - for 100% I am sure that I am using the right password because I have to connect to those networks manually everyday)

    Hi OGELTHORPE!
Thank you for your advice but I don't know where i can get it and where to get it. Also I don't know also how to use it.
Could you please keep on helping me?

  • I bought a mac 2 days ago and transferred some files on there using migration assist which I did not want to. How do I restore my imac to factory settings so I can start again?

I bought a mac 2 days ago and transferred some files on there using migration assist which I did not want to. How do I restore my imac to factory settings so I can start again?

Look in /Users folder. You can go to System Preferences > Users & Groups, open the lock and "-" delete the account it created.
This is a problem whenever you use migration assistant after the initial install. The proper way to run Migration Assistant is in Setup Assistant when you first boot your Mac. I don't know why Apple isn't clearer about this issue.

  • HT5654 Tried to restore my ipod to factory setting and now it erased everything and says their is an error (1) and the apple logo is stuck on the ipod.  EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED!!!! Would have never done this if I knew this was going to happen! itunes is upda

Tried to restore my ipod I just wanted to back to factory setting and delete everything on it.  I did it and NOW everything is erased, gone, and stuck on the apple logo.  Populated that it is in recovery mode and needs to be restored.  Clicked on restored and error (1) came up.  So now I have a useless iPod that I purchased.  Big apple user minus my laptop.  2 iPod, 2 iShuffles, iPad, 4 iPhones, iMac 27 inch.  If this isn't rectified I will never buy and continue to push my consumers, family, and friends on my bad experience with apple.  iTunes is up to date and now I am concerned that if do anything to my phone this same problem will happen.

    Hello, Marc.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Error 1 or -1 can be very tricky to resolve and sometimes leads to a device needing service.  That being said, here are the steps I would go through first for this specific error.
    Check for hardware issues
Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the alert when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
    Common errors: 1, 10-47, 1002, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1000-1020.

If the iPod is still unable to be restored it may needs to be serviced. The following link should help you get started with the process and has links with additional information on topics such as warranty and service pricing, battery replacement, and express replacement service.  This link will also allow give you the option to contact Apple Support for possible additional troubleshooting steps and options.

  • Restore 2012 imac to factory conditions - OSX Mavericks

    Hi
I have a early Late 2012 early 2013 maxed out iMac 27" (Slim one with Fusion drive and a FDD) It came with Snow Leopard installed.
I now want to restore it back to factory condition clean but with Mavericks on it.  I then want to set it up with my software.
How do I do this as I have read conflicting reports.
I will clone the drive before I start with Superduper and backup all software/Date.
One method says delete HDD in settings and then when you reboot you have an option to automataclly download Maverricks.  Is this correct ? Is this the best way ? How will it download when I havent set up internet access ?
Another methods mention making a bootable USB drive.
Please advise as I would like to do this over Christmas
    regards CARLO

You can only reinstall the OS version that came pre-installed. You must remove the computer from your list of registered products once you sell it so the new owner can register it and use the original pre-installed software.
Follow these instructions step by step to prepare a Mac for sale:
Step One - Back up your data:
           A. If you have any Virtual PCs shut them down. They cannot be in their "fast saved" state. They must be shut down from inside Windows.
           B. Clone to an external drive using using Carbon Copy Cloner.
              1. Open Carbon Copy Cloner.
              2. Select the Source volume from the Select a source drop down menu on the left side.
              3. Select the Destination volume from the Select a destination drop down menu on the right
                  side.
              4. Click on the Clone button. If you are prompted about creating a clone of the Recovery HD be
                  sure to opt for that.
Destination means a freshly erased external backup drive. Source means the internal
                   startup drive.
Step Two - Prepare the machine for the new buyer:
              1. De-authorize the computer in iTunes! De-authorize both iTunes and Audible accounts.
2, Remove any Open Firmware passwords or Firmware passwords.
              3. Turn the brightness full up and volume nearly so.
              4. Turn off File Vault, if enabled.
              5. Disable iCloud, if enabled: See.What to do with iCloud before selling your computer
Step Three - Install a fresh OS:
         A. Snow Leopard and earlier versions of OS X
              1. Insert the original OS X install CD/DVD that came with your computer.
              2. Restart the computer while holding down the C key to boot from the CD/DVD.
              3. Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu; repartition and reformat the internal hard drive.
Optionally, click on the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              4. Install OS X.
              5. Upon completion DO NOT restart the computer.
              6. Shutdown the computer.
         B. Lion and Mountain Lion (if pre-installed on the computer at purchase*)
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because
it is three times faster than wireless.
              1. Restart the computer while holding down the COMMAND and R keys until the Mac OS X
                  Utilities window appears.
              2. Select Disk Utility from the Mac OS X Utilities window and click on the Continue button.
              3. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click
on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
              4. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on the Security button
and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              5. Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
              6. Quit DU and return to the Mac OS X Utilities window.
              7. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
              8. Upon completion shutdown the computer.
*If your computer came with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed then you are entitled to transfer your license once. If you If your computer came with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed then you are entitled to transfer your license once. If you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion from the App Store then you cannot transfer your license to another party. In the case of the latter you should install the original version of OS X that came with your computer. If this is not possible then simply erase the drive. You need to repartition the hard drive as well as reformat it; this will assure that the Recovery HD partition is removed. See Step Three above. You may verify these requirements by reviewing your OS X Software License.

  • HT5048 how to restore like fresh from factory setting the 10.7.3

How to restore fresh from factory setting w/o install DVD?

Install or Reinstall Lion from Scratch
If possible backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.
