Restoring my ipod 30 gb classic

Hi, i've recently gotten an ipod classic 30Gb from someone else. I did not buy it. Anywho, I tried to restore my ipod to the factory settings and it told me to plug it up to a wall charger. I Plugged it up to a thrid party wall charger and the meassage displayed on the ipod is will not go away. It shows the old HUGE wall chargers that originally came with the ipod. I do not have one because i did not get one when i got my ipod. Is there anyway to make this go away and go back to listening to music? Please help!

The iPod Classic did not come in a 30GB model.
Please find your iPod in the list here:

I restored it about 8 times and I've put music and videos but I always delete everything. I crushed and Selection Menu to enter diagnostic sistemade or ipod and I put the manual test where I enter the IO and q tells me everything is fine. I have already given several Format directly from the Windows 7 and anything either, I always delete everything from passing over 1300 songs and I congeal whole team. No longer have to think of this company because Apple gives no solution has this issue.

Cured the problem! Reinstalled an earlier version of itunes from oldapps.com (version 10) now everything works as it should. I would suggest that if you are experiencing these problems that you do the same. I must say that it is a brave business decision on behalf of apple to effectively lock out all windows 7 users from their products and sales channels and I can only wish them luck in this very shortsighted policy.

  • I keep having to restore my ipod classic to sync music

Hey everybody, I have this annoying problem with my iPod classic that won't go away - for over a month now my music keeps disappearing from my iPod when I disconnect it from my computer, but my hard drive is not wiped out, so the music is still there it just won't show up on the iPod when disconnected. I have to keep restoring the iPod to factory settings in order for it to go away, but it keeps happening every other day or so. Its not an iTunes problem that's for sure, because I stopped using iTunes thinking it was the source of the problem but surely now I know it's my iPod. iTunes displays "*iTunes cannot read the contents of this iPod*" etc.
I tried asking around, but never got an answer. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Same problem: since 2 days my iPod cannot be syncronized.
Itunes indicates "error 1601" and then is unable to restore the iPod.
In the Apple support page, no solution is given (a part from uninstall and re-install iTunes, which I did and had any good result) and the page appears to be NOT updated since 2008.
Does this have something to do with the last update for iTunes that I just made?
Any clue of any solution for this ?
    thank you

  • I have restored my iPod classic and everything has been wiped off, now when I connect it to the laptop, iTunes doesn't recognise it and windows won't format it, an error message comes up "unable to format"

I have restored my iPod classic and everything has been wiped off, now when I connect it to the laptop, iTunes doesn't recognise it and windows won't format it, an error message comes up "unable to format". Can someone please help me sort this problem, it's so frustrating!!!!!!

It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive.  I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread.  He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.

  • Select characters/symbols won't display on iPod 160GB Classic since restore

I don't know if anyone has come across this yet or not. My new iPod 160GB Classic crashed after 1 week. Since restoring, I've noticed that certain characters/symbols won't display in artist/title names on my iPod that used to display just fine before the restore (symbols like + and ÿ). The restore function says that it restores it to the 'original factory settings,' but obviously not. I have tried restoring again, but that hasn't solved the problem. I've tried getting the track names from Gracenote (thinking maybe it was a font-specific thing), but that didn't help either. I know it seems petty, but I'm not sure how to solve it. The latest update has been applied to my iPod and I have the latest version of iTunes. Any ideas? I believe the crash was caused by a third party software which has since been removed. I have not experienced any problems since.

Probably, the easiest way to resolve this is to copy the artwork from one song on an album and paste it into every song on that album.
In your iTunes Library, choose an album that has artwork issues; choose one track that has the artwork and copy it. Then:
the slightly longer method is to check each song individually, until you find the one with the missing artwork. Paste (the copy previously made) from one of the other tracks on the album.
a slightly quicker method is to highlight all the songs on that album (make sure it is just that one album) and paste the artwork into the box.
Sync the iPod with your iTunes Library.

  • TS1372 Hi i'm trying to restore my iPod classic and it says that the iPod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1434) what can i do to fix this? Thanks

Hi i'm trying to restore my iPod classic and it says that the iPod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1434) what can i do to fix this? Thanks

Error 1015: This error is typically caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple. This error can also occur when an unauthorized modification of the iOS has occurred and you are now trying to restore to an authorized, default state.

I have tried all the troubleshooting tips online but my Classic ipod doesnt work. My Itunes keeps telling me that it cannot restore the ipod because the ipod is busy. What can I do?

Have you tried rebooting for the Mac and iPod to see if that helps? To reset the iPod, press and hold both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
It wouldn't hurt to also try plugging the iPod into another USB port and use a different USB sync cable.

  • I recently restored my ipod classic and the music that was in my itunes account has disappeared or it keeps saying file not found,is there a way forme to recover the music I lost?

How can I fix this problem of finding the music that was lost since I restored my ipod classic. I still have some albums but some music is missing,

    Hello lg3hree
Check out the first article to look on your computer for the music files themselves. If you had purchased anything from iTunes, you can just download the tracks from the iTunes store.

  • Does restoring an ipod classic (prior format on Mac) in Windows delete music?

Does restoring an ipod classic (which was previously formatted on a Mac) in Windows 7 delete the music already on ipod?

    Thanks fiend,
I don't have access to a Mac. This ipod (bought 2nd hand) is my first apple product & came with some music on, but I can't add any, till I reformat to use in Windows. Was hoping not to lose existing music but ..... Thanks for helping a novice.

try to restore my ipod to factory setting i get error message 1437.  I using windows 7

The 1437 error can be an early sign of hard disk damage and/or failure.  Try a doing a quick diagnostic on the drive's health status using the instructions posted by another forum member turingtest2 in this older post. He also describes what the numbers mean and how to interpret them.

  • Has anyone else received error 1434 when restoring their iPod classic.

I can't seem to restore my iPod classic. I get the above error message...a little help?

It doesn't contain your exact erorr number, but perhaps something here will help.
    iPod: Cannot restore or update in iTunes with error 1415, 1417, 1418, 1428, 1429, 1430, 1436, or 1439
Be sure to carefully work through each every suggestion.  Also, make sure you are plugging the iPod into a high powered USB port on the Mac itself and not through a USB hub.
