Hi Habtamu, try to find the path of your BACKUP_NCS, if its in the flash of prime appliance or if you are using Virtual machine you might have saved the backup in some file server machine... configure the path in the repository BACKUP_NCS
conf t
repository BACKUP_NCS
url X.X.X.X://directory_name/backup_Filename
PPNNCS01a/hosiptal#restore NCS_113012-121130-1558.tar.gpg repository BACKUP_NCS
or
conf t

Migration Assistant (Finder > Applications > Utilities > Migration Assistant) is the tool that you would use to restore backups from older Macs to another Mac.
Details are here:   http://pondini.org/OSX/MigrateLion.html   The same info applies for Mavericks and Yosemite.   If you are saying that this is a "no go".....where are you getting stuck?  What error messages do you see?

My daughter's iPhone 3gs has just been replaced by Apple. When she tried to restore her backup files she was told to upgrade to itunes 10, but she can't because her Macbook is too old to run it. What do we need to do to get all her stuff onto the new phone?

Here's what I'd do, go back to the Apple store, take the phone & computer. Ask the geniuses how to fix this since they replaced the phone. You never know, they may just update the computer for free...its happened before...can't gurantee it will happen for you, but worth a try.
Otherwise, you're looking at purchasing a retail copy of Leopard, however if her computer can handle Snow Leopard you can purchase the $29 upgrade disk & install a full copy of SL.

  • I have lost an iPhone 5s but I have a backup that I wish to restore on my iPhone 4, will restoring the backup file disable 'Find my iPhone' on my missing handset?

The title says it all, I was unfortunate enough to lose an iPhone 5s but luckily I have 'Find my iPhone' enabled on it, luckily I have found my old iPhone 4 and would like to know if 'Find my iPhone' will remain activated on the lost/stolen handset should I restore the backup file on my old iPhone?
    Many Thanks
    Billy

You'll be fine restoring your backup to your old iPhone 4s. Just make sure your 4s is up to date to restore the backup. Bummer about you losing your iPhone 5s. You don't have to worry about the lost device being removed from Find my iPhone once it is turned on it cannot be removed unless you turn it off yourself.

What "new system" did you reinstall?
Are you upgrading from Leopard to Snow Leopard?
Or did you reinstall Leopard?  If so, why and how (that may provide a clue)?
How is your Mac connected to the Time Capsule (use Ethernet for best results)?
You may need to repair the backups, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.

  • Restore from backup file nocatalog

    Hi
Is there any way to restore a 8i instance, including controlfiles, from a rman backup file if there are no catalog or controlfiles available?
With 9i you can run "restore controlfile from 'PATH/backupfile';" but that option doesn't seem to come with 8i.
Unfortunately the Rman catalog was lost along with the whole database and the only thing they have left is a backupfile on disk.
    Cheers
    Tom

In this case you need to know what you have you in our backup set.
    http://dba.shilpatech.com/rman.html#id3573178
    Look under section 1.2
You would basically restore the controlfile from the backup set.

  • Restoring the backup file but asked to enter password to unlock

    Hi,
I need help. I tried to update the iPad OS then all of the sudden it prompt that the restoring the data was interrupted but no one was unplug the usb connector to the iPad. It asked if I wanted to use the older backup to backup the file but it prompt to Enter the password to unlock your iPad backup file. I tried all password that I used but it does not accept.
    Thanks,

it is asking for your administrator password on the computer as the back up file is encrypted by the compputer.

  • Error code: 16 when restoring from backup file

I've just restored my macbook pro and tried to restore from backup Photoshop file, now I get the code Error: 16. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thank you!
    Roferr

    Open the Terminal.app
    Copy and paste:   sudo chmod -R 777 /Library/Application\ Support/Adobe
Press Enter and supply your password if asked.
If that does not work, do a reinstall from the discs or installer.
Migrating Adobe programs from another Mac or restoring from Time Machine breaks the licensing.

The issue was that I was using the "restore" command when I should have been using the "acs restore" command.  Issue resolved.

  • How to restore specific backup file from RMAN?

    Hi,
I am just begginer with Oracle DB so I do not have a lot knowledge.
I created two backups at April the 8th and April the 10th.
    I did following from RMAN.
    shutdown immediate
    startup mount
    configure channel 1 device type disk format '/opt/oracle/backup/std_%U';
    backup database
    startup
    output was:
including current control file in backupset
    including current SPFILE in backupset
it created two files: std-0so6l0vn(2 GB) and std_0to6l106 (7 MB).
First question - first file is backup and what is the second file???
Today I created also backup and it also created two files: std_0uo6morg (2GB) and std_0vo6morv (7MB)
    Now I want to return backup from 2 days ago (*std-0so6l0vn*) but can't;
    I do the the following:
    shutdown immediate
    startup mount
    restore database from '/opt/oracle/backup/std_0so6l0vn'
but getting error - only SPFILE or control file can be restored from autobackup.
How to restore my backup from two days ago? It looks to me so complicated and hardly understandable.
What command to execute from RMAN to succeed in restore?
    Thank you

I still can not restore database; I tried Honza method.
    i try
    startup nomount
    restore controlfile from 'restore controlfile from /opt/oracle/backup/sss_11o7efd9_1_1';
    And getting message:

  • When I try to restore my backup file, I cant find a valid password.  What do I do now?

After a reinstall of settings, I tried to restore my backup of apps, etc.  But I forgot my password, and don't know how to get my backup restored.

If you forgot the backup password, you can't do it. A password wouldn't be very effective if there was a way around it, would it? You'll have to re-sync everything and start from scratch.

  • Restoring iPhone Backup Files Without a iPhone

    Hello,
I had a iPhone 5 32GB that I recently lost. Because Sprint didn't have the replacement plan at the time of purchase, I'm out of a phone. I have a backup that contains my photos and videos (more important than the music) before my phone was lost. I do remember when I did the backup on a friends PC computer (encrypted) I'm still able to view the backup file. Is there a way I can take that backup file and copy it to my macbook without loosing or damaging anything? Are there any 3rd party apps out there someone can recommend?
    Any help is greatly appreciated

I was horrified to open my Voice Memos app earlier this evening and discover a distinct absence of recordings, as well. I downloaded iExplorer and, without purchasing or registering the software, was able to recover my memos from a backup.
    Download here: http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/
Upon opening iExplorer, chose "Continue with Demo" in the bottom right corner. Chose "Backups" on the right, under "Explore." A dialog box will prompt you to "Use Last Backup" or "Refresh." Click "Use Last Backup."
From the list of folders you now see, open "MediaDomain>Media>Recordings." Your voice memos are the files of type M4A. Simply select those files and drag them into a new folder on your desktop. You can then add the files from the folder on your desktop to iTunes and make a playlist or whatever else your heart desires. The dates and times of the memos seem to be lost, but at least the recordings themselves were salvagable. Hopefully this process resolves your issue. Good luck!
Also, I think it would be in our best interest to take a lesson from this, and manually backup our recordings on a regular basis from this point forward.
