Got a new phone.  Took pics on vacation with new phone.  Wanted to sync old phone with new phone.  Restored old phone to new phone, not realizing it would erase new phone content.  Is there any way to get that info back?  Thought i had performed a back up, but am unable to find it.  HELP

With a backup yes, no backup then no.

  • Is there a way to access my old Notes only? I still have my old back up but I cant sync to my phone or it will corrupt it.

I am using an iphone 5. Recently it malfunctioned and I was told by apple that my old back up had a corruption with it an caused my phone to malfunction. Apple had to redownload the operating system. I was also told that I can not use my old back on my phone I need to delete it and manually download everything. I DID NOT USE ICLOUD. However I do have my old back up still on my mac in itunes. Question below....
Is there a way to access my old Notes only so I can rewrite them in my phone? I still have my old back up but I cant sync to my phone or it will corrupt it. I just want to access my notes so I can type them back into my notes on my fixed phone.

you can restore from your backup again just to get the notes. once you've restored from the backup, copy your notes into your icloud notes group or email them to yourself - basically, get them somewhere else so they're not just locally stored on the device. once you've moved your notes elsewhere, restore the device as new again like apple had you do. this will again put a fresh version of the operating system on your phone like it has right now
there's no other way to access the notes that are in your backup

Reset, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone begins to start, try this a few times if necessary. If still problem, you may have to just Restore your iPhone to get it working. In the future sync your iPhone with iTunes routinely and when it contains important data, iCloud when set correctly will do this for you continuously.

  • Restore lost Notes

In a recovery from lost bookmarks, I had to PUSH a replacement set to the iPad (USB connect to my Pro). The "notes" seemed to push as well - replacing my active notes with some old notes from my pro.
Is there ANY way to restore or recover my notes? Are they in a "trash" area? Is there a way to "go behind" the interface and find these "trashed" notes in some suspense area?
Related - the terms "backup" and "restore are misleading on iTunes.
Only the settings are backed up, right? if not then how do I recover (thinking my old notes might be there).
The "Restore" is restore to the FACTORY SETTINGS - should say so.
Thank yo for helping - especially if you have some ideas for recovery of my notes.
One last thing - there is a PUSH of items TO the iPad (and iPhone) - but nothing the other way.
DON'T tell me "sync" will do that - DON'T GET ME STARTED (as Krusty says)

From what I can see Notes are now stored in a hidden folder. Even when you find them in Time Machine they are not recoverable. Send Apple feedback http://www.apple.com/feedback/ . This bug should be fixed as soon as possible.
Read https://discussions.apple.com/message/19171700#19171700 for info on where they are now stored. To open your Library folder open a Finder window then click the Go menu pressing the Option key on the keyboard to make Library appear.
Notes should be recoverable by entering Time Machine with the Note app open as other apps work. When I open the folder mentioned in the thread then open Time Machine all deleted and modified Notes get marked as "(Null)" and contain no data.

  • HT1766 Can I "restore" my "Notes" on my iPhone and select the backup date?

Can I "Restore" ny "Notes" from my backup and can I select the backup date. e.g. Backup a few days old..
    Thanks

Backups are incremental.  You cannot select a set date.  In addition, you cannot select to restore only notes.  You must restore everything.

  • Elements 10 backup from XP - restore to W7 - restore does not include any duplicated pics

    Hi,  hope someone can help?
I am a new user to Elements10 and originally installed it onto an XP desktop.    I have since upgraded the desktop to Windows7 and want to transfer my images and elements catalog.  I have performed a full backup of my catalog from the XP os, via the backup process in Elements (which says successful) and performed a restore onto the W7 desktop retaining the original folder structure (also via Elements).
Despite doing this several times, I always get error messages saying the restore cannot restore a selection of .xml files, but if I continue with the backup it finally says "successful".
However when I compare the number of restored images, with the originals, it appears I am over 700 files short!       A bit of investigation indicates that the restore is not restoring any duplicate images (those with identical file names but in different folders), but only restores one copy of the image.    I can't check all 700 files individually, but can someone confirm if this expected behaviour, so that I can stop worrying that I have lost 700+ images?
    Thanks
    Steve

Ah... as per my 1st post, I am a new user to Elements.    Apologies,  I have been approaching this from the wrong direction!   I have checked back on my original XP disk and Elements catalog, and it appears that when I set up the original catalog against my existing pics it did not include any duplicate files, therefore the Backup\Restore is correct, it is the original cataloging of my pictures that did not work as expected.     Do I have to do anything specific to get the catalog to include duplicate file names?
    Sorry for the misdirection
    Steve
    Steve,
The basic rule of database management is to forbid duplicates.
In the case of the Organizer, that would mean changing one of the two above criteria (date daken or file size in kB). That would be possible outside of the Organizer by using external tools, but the problem is that you don't know which files are concerned...
Now that you have restored your catalog in your new catalog, a theoretical solution would be to get back to the old catalog, and use the organizer to delete all the files in the catalog. The remaining ones would be the duplicates. Creating a new empy catalog and importing the remaining files would recover all duplicates. You could then restore on the new PC.
    There are still two problems:
    - You can't delete a big number of files at the same time? You'd have to delete by small batches
    - You'll have all your duplicates in your new PC, but you still won't be able to include them in the main catalog even you have now a special catalog with only the duplicates.
So, the final question may be : why do you want to keep duplicates? You can examine the duplicates catalog and see if they are really necessary. Maybe you can live with two different catalogs.

  • Restoring old TBird profile manually.

My old TBird stuff is backed up on an external drive. My internal drive crashed. I've been trying to restore my old profile for three weeks now, but can't. None of the instructions I've come across are working for me. I don't even know what a profile is exactly or where it is. Is it the folder with random characters that ends in .default? Is it the folder inside that one -- named Mail? Is it one of the two folders inside the Mail folder named Local Folder or incoming.verizon.net? Or both of those? Not that it matters. I've experimented by copying all of those folders and pasting them in, and nothing takes.
On another note, I think it's a disgrace how complicated this operation appears to be, and I'm a fairly smart guy. That this can't be done with two or three clicks with copy and paste or drag and drop just as easy as I can drop a folder of backed up Word docs, for example, into my documents files is absurd, and inexcusable. I'll say it again -- it's a disgrace.

So I successfully uploaded my old TBird emails a few days ago, as I indicated in my last post to this thread and mostly thanks to a youtube video I discovered (youtube link provided above) --- but after a few days, a new problem developed -- and I have no idea why this new problem is happening, or how to go about fixing it.
A few days after restoring my old TBIrd profile and old TBird emails, I had to do a system restore to my PC for reasons unrelated to TBird. I'm using Windows 32 bit Vista. I set the restore point for a few days before I recently successfully restored my older profile TBird emails.
After the system restore took effect, my old profile TBird emails -- recently restored -- were now gone. I didn't understand why, because system restore is not supposed to affect files, but I wasn't too concerned, because I had finally figured out how to restore the old TBird emails and I reasoned that I could do it again -- and in just a few minutes time -- and with three or four mouse clicks. Which I did. But not successfully.
When I restored my old TBIrd emails for the second time, only the emails that were moved into folders, along with those folders, were restored. I had a lot of other emails -- loose emails, I'll call them -- that were in in the inbox, but not moved into any specifically created folders -- and those loose emails did not appear when I restored my old TBird profile this second time around. Now I'm stumped. Any ideas? I don't even know where to look, or how to phrase the search for help with this one.
    Thanks again.

  • How to restore lost notes

Any help on an iPhone Notes glitch that just erased valuable Notes?  It kept 3 old Notes and erased 4 new Notes.
I was just getting used to this and now the rug is swept from under me :(

Let me add to my own comments... If this is a fr€^king sync issue then there should be some restoration function, right?  How the H. can any software or program update itself and not be able to restore?  I'm no techie but Apple should be held accountable for this sloppy performance.

  • Accessing "old" notes with mountain lion

after upgrading to mountain lion, need to access some "old" notes - that were in the mail program.  Have external drive, running time machine- but can not locate proper file- how to import old mail notes to new Notes app- after initial installation.  Any help would be appreciated.

So it's changed in Mountain Lion? Sorry - I guess Pondoni hasn't updated that section. I don't use Mail much (maybe once every two months or so?) so I don't know about the "notes" - I was just going by the
"You can restore entire mailboxes or individual messages, including Notes via Apple Mail."
    ...that was in the FAQ.
Sorry - maybe Pondoni will answer - he comes around here sometimes. But on his web page, he suggests using these forums and only emailing him about problems with his website.

  • I need to restore some Notes from Time Machine but how?

I have Lion 10.7.4 and Time Machine and need to restore Notes [which are in the Reminder part of my Mail app] and figured otu how to show the hidden files so could see the Library, thinking that was where the 'old' notes were = so went there but can't find where the notes in Mail are kept - and can't find to restore them.
How do I find the notes from a month or so ago to restore them into the present Time Machine folder -- I've tried it 3 times and the Notes thing is there but empty each time == but if I am in TimeMchine and look at tht top I see that there are 25 notes etc.

Thanks but that is what I am doing...the shot below is of the Notes area in Mail before I do the Restore via TM - I go into TM and back in mid April/late March find 25 items = I did a screen shot [below] so  I know the info is there - but so far I keep getting the restored Notes folders with -0- messages
I did go into the Timemachine volume and follow thru the location path to the Notes.mbox in the Library of my user folder [name has not changed] - the only thing there is the info.plist = which contains the plist info but not the 25 notes or messages which clearly show up above.  Thanks for the help.  Not sure what to do next?

  • Thunderbird email messages restored but not contacts

Something went right, I don't know how I did it but I restored all of my Gmail messages into my Thunderbird account. But my contact list did not make it.
I use Carbonite for backup and that restoration did not restore my contacts.
Thunderbird talks of a "profile" but what exactly is that? Why if my messages came back, I know not how, why not contacts?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
See if that allows the messages to now display.
    Good luck!

  • Restore old sap parameters to minimimize down time

    Hi Friends,
I want to change some sap instance parameters based on observation thru rz10. Now  while restart with the new parameters if  SAP shows some error ,
    (1) how can I restore old parameters to minimimize down time  and start my system again.
    (2) What are the necessary precaustions need to be taken before and after the changes.
    Thanks & Best Regards,
    Atul

    1) RZ10 creates a backup on the filesystem. Goto your profile dir (/sapmnt/SID/profile on unix) and put back the the .BAK file, then restart your system.
    2) Always document your changes (changelog). Test changes on a test system, before you do it on production. Read the corresponding notes, docu. Sometimes it is useful to manually create a copy of your profiles (especially if you do multiple changes), as the BAK file is overwritten everytime.
    Regards, Michael
Edit: and hey, if you do change the profiles on the filesystem, then don't forget to import them in RZ10 again.
