Restoring option with save as/open with window...

When saving a file from the interwebs I used to be given the option open with/save as with a box to tick to "do this everytime". I accidentally clicked the box when saving as so now it does this everytime. I'm sure it's pretty simple, and feel really stupid asking as this sort of thing is usually easy enough but I now can't get the option back, I am now defaulted to "save as" everytime. Is there something simple I'm overlooking?

Maybe, you can fix this problem by changing default action/instruction for required file type using special tab in option menu (sorry, I have no english Firefox version and can't name it exactly, but it must be something like "Applications", a tab near "Privacy", the 4th tab in "Options" (Mb, "Preferences") window).

does it shop up when you try the following?:
go to ''firefox > help > troubleshooting information'', click on ''profile folder/show folder'' and close all firefox windows afterwards. a windows explorer window should open up - in there rename/delete the file named '''mimetypes.rdf''' - it will be regenerated again the next time you launch the browser.

  • Save As & Open Dialog Window for some documents hangs when custom VSTO plugin is installed

    Hello,
I have created a VSTO application which uploads a word document to Document Management Server. The problem is not with this plugin, but after the plugin is installed, for certain documents when user makes some modification to the document and clicks on File
-> Save As or File ->Open, the Save As/Open Dialog window, does  not show up and the Word application will be hung (spinning) as it should do if the Save As dialog window would have been shown. The only option is then to kill the WinWord process
from Task Manager. When I kill the WinWord process from task manager, I see the Save As Dialog window appear for a split second before the WinWord Process shuts down.
If I uninstall the VSTO application, everything works fine.
    Details on the application:
    Target Framework: .NET Framework 4
    Platform Target: x86
OS (Developer and End User): Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64 bit
Microsoft Office: Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 Version: 14.0.6129.5000 (32-bit)
    Help!!

    Hi Eugene,
    Thanks for your reply.
Yes I have tried an empty add-in project as well. Added a label to the ribbon and displayed a static text. I am able to reproduce the issue with this add-in as well. The issue is only reproducable if I deploy the add-in using a setup and deployment project.
While building the project, Visual Studio installs the add-in by default. If I open the problematic documents with the "developement" version of the add-in installed, it seems to be working fine.

Since it could be reproduced if you deploy any add-in with a setup project, it seems this issue may be related to the your environment.
It will be helpful if you could share the following information with us.
The configuration about that setup project and your add-in.
Whether your user account has admin privilege or not.
To narrow down this issue, you could consider installing that add-in with setup project in a clean machine.
If it could reproduce this issue, then we could focus on that setup project instead.
If not, then we'd better focus on your environment to narrow down this issue.
    Regards,
    Carl

  • I have one out of five email address's with coxmail that opens with a blank inbox but other browsers show the content of the same inbox

    Question
I have one out of five email address's with coxmail that opens with a blank inbox. Other browsers like opera or IE show the content of the same inbox. I've contacted cox but they tell me the problem is on my computer. I've used three different anti virus/malware scanners to eliminate all the bugs they can find. I need a firefox guru with suggestions. Thanks, Charles

You can undo your permission changes. Probably the most relevant one is cookies. Try one or both of these methods:
    (1) Page Info > Permissions tab
While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Permissions
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Permissions
    (2) about:permissions
In a new tab, type or paste '''about:permissions''' and press Enter. Allow a few moments for the list on the left to populate, as this information needs to be extracted from a database.
Then type or paste ''rcn''' in the search box above the list to filter it to the most relevant domains. When you highlight a domain, you can adjust its permissions in the right pane.
    Any luck?

  • Get "Open With Box" recommending open with internet explorer

After I downloaded 4.0, ti appeared that a virus or trojan horse came also. It was "running a scan and asking for me to purchase the program. I ran a scan with software I had and got rid of it, no when I try to open programs I get the "Open with box and recommended to open with IE, but it will not open the programs, get in a loop of open with, run program, open with ect.

If you have access to a mouse, try using it. If everything is okay using the mouse, then it is likely trackpad related. Other troubleshooting.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode.  Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application unistaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Delphi Forums Messages no longer loads - get "it's an octet stream - save or open with another program"???

Just stopped working today after my Windows 7 laptop automatically updated last night. This site works fine (still!) in IE on this machine.

application/octet-stream is a generic content (MIME) type. Firefox will always show the "open with" download dialog if a server sends a file with such a MIME type. You shouldn't get that MIME type with every web page that you open. You may have security software (firewall) that has changed the original content type.
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.<br />
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.<br />

  • Mavericks wont save and open with my preferred desktop image

After installing Mavericks my iMac opens with the "rolling surf" desktop. I can then start my preferred desktop from a saved 'photo but when I retsart the iMAc it reverts to "rolling surf". How can I get it to remeber to open with MY choice rather than Apple's?

Hi, as dgriffiths-leics-gov-uk said, you have to sign your applet, check the Jar files, and signing applets tutorials at java's site, or else the following URL:
...there was a posted message which I replied with all the process condensed to sign and add permissions to an applet, including the use and creation of the Jar file, its way to be signed; and, the HTML code you shall use. That way you can use
JFileChooser class and its methods in your class; therefore, the File Choosing dialog will be shown and you'll be able to Open and Save user files.

  • Issues with GPO for Open With/Folder Type

    Hello,
We have a mixed environment of x86 and x64 Windows 7 systems. We are using Windows Server R2 Group Policy. We want to associate certain type of file to open with Excel. In user configurations\Preferences\Folder Options,  I added two entries to associate
the file type to open with Excel. One entry for x86 with correct path to Excel.exe and the other the same way for x64 systems. What I have found though is that 2nd entry is the only one that applies to ALL systems. This changes the Registry key HKEY\Classes\Root\Applications\Excel.exe.
Therefore, the 32 bit systems receive that GPO with the wrong path to open these files with Excel so it doesnt work.
    1. How can I avoid this so that all systems open the file type with Excel, regardless if they are x86 or x64?
    2. Why does it allow you to enter muliple lines in the Folder Options, but only apply one of them to everyone?
    Thanks

    > 1. How can I avoid this so that all systems open the file type with

Click "common", item level targeting. Target for Environment variable
    "PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE", value "AMD64" or "X86".
    > 2. Why does it allow you to enter muliple lines in the Folder Options,
    > but only apply one of them to everyone?
Both apply to everyone, but the second overwrites the first if you do
    not use item level targeting.

  • "Save as" opens new window

In CS 3 I was able to use the "Save as" option to save the file as another name and keep it as the active window without having dreamweaver open a new tab or window. Anybody know how to do this? Is there an option somewhere in CS 4? I open and save as many files and adding the extra "click" to close the previous window is taking up time.
    Thanks!

Control-w will close the active file. I am saving in consecutive order.
    File name - 01.txt > save as >
    next filename - 02.txt; 03.txt; 04.txt
    and so on.
The active file used to become the new file name and not open it in a new tab or window. So, I have to close the previous window each time. It is a little more cumbersome than you might think when we are talking about 50 to 100 files copying and pasting.

  • New Project will not save, re-open with accurate or matching audio and video.

I filmed footage last week. Uploaded it into Premiere Elements and edited the footage in Elements, and saved my work as a project. I opened Elements this morning, and upon opening my saved project I was prompted by the program to locate the file. When I then selected the raw footage files, it loaded the project, but with audio and video out of order, not synced, etc.
How do I save my work as a stand-alone project file with the audio and video synced as I intended, in a format that I can load, share, re-open and work on without having to re-locate the raw video?
This seems to be a basic function of Video Editing software, so I hope it is something small I can adjust and move on from. Oh Also all the files, both project (.prel) and raw footage (.mov) are saved on the desktop of the computer i am using to run Premiere Elements.

    brjames1
What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
After you have created a project and it has been saved, you should be expected to be able to reopen the project with the
project as before the save/close (some discussion about rendered files remaining rendered, but essentially as written).
When they do not, we can invoke the damaged project syndrome.
The following is an Adobe document on that subject.
Troubleshoot a damaged project file | Adobe Premiere Elements
If you are getting "Where is the file....?" messages when re-opening a saved closed project, typical reasons
    a. you have moved, deleted, or renamed files and folders that were imported into the project after the save close...when
you import media into a project, all you get are copies of the originals in the project. But the project needs to trace back
to the originals in the hard drive location where those originals were when first imported into the project.
    b. if you store your source media on an external hard drive, the external hard drive may be malfunctioning and/or the
drive letter of the external drive changing for a variety of reasons. Does any of that apply to you.
Please review and consider, and then we can decide what next.
    Thanks.

There are lots of customer applications that are based on Windows RAC. And as mentioned above, it is very well supported by Oracle.
However, because of the security vulnerabilities of Windows, I've observed that most of the financial institutions and listed companies opt for unix based servers for all high profile applications and run only low to medium risk application on Windows.
Regarding maintanence issues, I guess it's going to be pretty much the same; there shall always be lots of bugs, lots of patches and updates just like an yother software; doesn't really matter if you are on Unix or Windows systems. As long as you purchase support, it's all good.
It's pretty much same concern regarding Grid Control on windows.
    Cheers.

  • Save and open with applet?

    Hi,
This is a quite urgent problem....
I have uploaded an applet onto my web page. It takes an image as input, embosses it and displays it.
At the moment the input is a text field that takes a url.
I want to create an upload or open file button as well, so that it is possible to input an image that is stored on the users computer. In addition I need a save function to save the altered image. Can I use the JFileChooser???
Is this possible using an applet, and if it is - where can I find some more information about this?
    Thanks in advance!!!

Hi, as dgriffiths-leics-gov-uk said, you have to sign your applet, check the Jar files, and signing applets tutorials at java's site, or else the following URL:

  • Problems : Starting up with CDE and Opening terminal window in JDS

    Hi
I installed Solaris 10 GA on the system having 2.8 GHz Dual Xeon processor with EM64T.
Installation process was fine and completed. But, I have two problems with CDE and JDS.
Firstly, in JDS, the graphical login comes up, works fine. After I login (as root or anyone), sometimes terminal window does not start up correctly. The windows for terminal apprear, but there is no display. Thus, I cannot use the terminal in JDS, while the other menus on launch panel (e.g. StarOffice) seem to work properly.
Secondly, in CDE, I can login, the hourglass pointer appears and changes to arrow pointer. But then, there are no items except only the pointer and wallpaper.
Both problems do not happen at every login time. when the problems happen, I have to reboot (in CDE/JDS) or re-login (in JDS). After some rebooting or re-login, things work fine again.
    Can everybody help me?
    Thanks
