Restoring Original Configuration

I synched up my new Blackberry with my old one for the address book.  It replaced the new programs on my new phone with the old programs, e.g. the gps program, etc.  Is it possible to restore the original settings?

You can reinstall the operating system, I'm doubtful a security wipe would help you.

  • Is it possible to restore a 3TB Fusion hard drive to its original configuration on the imac late 2012?

    Hi,
i have a Late 2012 imac running on Mavericks. I have been struggling to get boot camp to partition my drive in preparation for Windows dual boot.
    i found this doc:
    http://www.twocanoes.com/support/winclone/installing-windows-on-a-boot-camp-part ition-on-a-3-tb-fusion-drive
I proceeded to follow but had no success in the final results. I decided to try and revert my Fusion drive back to it original configurations. (one drive)
After following the docs above i had 3 partitions on my hard drive:
    Macintosh HD
    WIN
    MacBonus
I then tried to remove my WIN partion  and  it turned blue indicating the drive was full. I am now unable to remove this partition i also deleted the MacBonus partition and now that space seems to have completely gone from my mac and i do not seem to be able to repartition this remaining space.
I basically have made a pigs ear out of this and am very confused as to what to do.
Can i revert my Fusion drive back to its factory settings and then re-install a fresh copy of my OS Mavericks on to it?
Any feed back from you pros would be really appreciated
    many thanks Paul

Actually, I got a solution from Apple Care's senior advisors, and wanted to see if it'd still be useful to share =]
    Here it is:
Go to Terminal under OS X Internet Recovery (Cmd-Opt-R)
    Enter - diskutil CoreStorage list
    Identify disk's numeric serial number
    Enter - diskutil CoreStorage delete <serial number>
After this, open Disk Utility again and a box should pop up asking if you want to fix the drives in red text.
    Fix, then reinstall OS X.

  • Restoring original adjustments of a Mac Book Pro 13 last model

    Good morning
I just bought a Mac Book pro 13 (last model) and I tried to use assistant migration to migrate everything from my old Mac Book (OS X LIon and updated), by ethernet connexion by cable, but the operation avorted twice. No interesting solution for the moment from the Apple Care telephone ahelp. They seem as bewildered as me.
I am looking for a solution in my old Mac, but  before going in the Old Mac to see what's going wrong (I had done, though, the necessary adjustment, like deactivation of all applications opening automatically, never deactivate hard drive, unlink my computer to Dropbox etc..) I want to  restore my new Mac Book Pro with its original features (without any trace of the precedent operation, or user accounts etc..)
SO: Is it better to format hard disk and restore original adjustments (as if I had just open the computer) or to use in Disk utilities the command "Reinstall Mac OS X and its application"?
I should think it is the first solution but I liked an advise from more clever folks than me.
    Secondary question:
Could the problem be because my new Mac Pro had been configured in the Apple Store with the same user account than the one on my old Mac (and same Apple ID)?
    Or is there other possibilities?
Thanks for your Help. I would'nt like to go the Apple Store and have it done for me, and die an idiot. (french expression)
    Cathy

Doing a Clean re-install of Lion would not hurt as yes the failed MA may have placed certain thing on the system before it finally failed, I wouldn't know about that.
If you chose to do that look into creating a Lion Install USB thumb drive so you never have to download the Lion install files again and so you won't need a internet connection to re-install Lion.
IMHO it really isn't a time eater. IMHO it is the only way to have New computer without all the JUNK you have collected on the old one transfered over. It is the only way I setup a NEW computer. Buy the computer, Windows or Mac, Wipe the drive and reinstall the OS CLEAN. Install the programs I want on the new computer and then copy my personal files over.
Now there will be other opinions on this. Some of the Apple Fan Boys will state that OS X is so great that it never needs cleaning or a reinstall. That has not been my experience over the years of working on other peoples Macs.

  • Problem restoring original installation

I had a harddrive replacement on an Envy laptop and cannot restore the original configuration as Windows is telling me it cannot reinstall with the system configuration. What are my options?
This is an HP product and there was a recovery partition on the harddrive. I had no luck following HP instructions to recover the original installation from this partition. When I had bought the laptop in 2010 I also purchased HP  windows 7recovery
disks When I used these disks, they supposedly reformatted the windows partition and reinstalled drivers and files necessary to run windows. However when windows boots the computer it progresses to a screen that says starting windows ->windows could not
complete the installation. To install windows restart the installation.
I have redone the whole thing and the initial  message after both recovery discs have run is a choice of an HP web installation that allows a connection to my wifi but then if I stay with that, I can't get anywhere as I don't have a browser
installed and the choice to go to windows starts the loop I end up stuck in. the first error screen says that windows can't install because of a hardware problem which I am assuming is because of the different harddrive.  I get the above message to restart
the computer and end up in a loop that gives me the same message again and again.  I have all the information I could collect...my windows7 key, the product #, system board #,UUID #, PCID #, product ID #. I have run diagnostics on the memory and hard
drive and all are fine but the diagnostics just say 'no data' over and over.

You need to be very explicit about your situation:
is the replacement hard drive exactly the same capacity as the original?
what are you using to reinstall the system?  Is it a backup image?
have you contacted the Envoy Technical Support for assistance?
Explicit details are required so the situation can be properly evaluated.

Sometimes restarting it will do the trick. If that hasn't worked, though, you need to use a computer to restore it. The folks at an Apple store can help or you can use a friend's computer.

  • Unwanted Resetting to Original Configuration

For some unknown reason, my MacBook has a tendency to reset to its original configuration when I start up. This has only happened twice in the 1.5 years I've owned it. What I mean by original configuration is that my desktop background disappears, my stickies disappear, anything I have on the desktop disappears (or is erased - can't find it via spotlight), the dashboard size resets to its original size, etc. Someone please help me. I'd really like to recover the things on my desktop. Sorry, I'm not even sure how to check what version of Tiger OS I'm running. Thanks, Rich

    Hi there:
I've read your question a few times and wonder if you've
ever used Disk Utility's 'repair disk permissions' in the
time you've owned your computer; as recommended both
before and after any software or system updates, upgrades
or installs... If so, have you booted up in SafeBoot mode,
then repaired those same disk permissions in D.U. & then
    restarted the computer normally?
Do you have and use Titanium Software's downloadable &
free-running donation-ware called OnyX? (use Automation
and restart the computer; check all boxes in this selection.)
This problem sounds like it may be due to a permissions
or user account error; but it could be something more. In
fact, I was reading a post by BDAqua in another thread
and he suggested something there (I forgot what, now)
to someone, whose issue wasn't quite the same as yours.
If you happened to rename your user account or computer
that could be behind the issue you are facing. How to restore
a user account or how to rename one, are searchable; and to
backward research those after the fact, if that is the case,
can help resolve the issue and also know how to do it right.
{Some of these things have specific rules and to just "do it"
may really do things unexpectedly out of the ordinary to your
    Mac. So, that is what I don't know. What you did to cause this.}

  • How do I restore original file naming on an import

Through a process of idiocy and confusion, I've ended up with TWO creation dates on my files, e.g. 20140112-20140112-Johnny at the beach.  I tried the step back, step back, step back system, or "undo, undo" but that didn't succeed.  I've tried creating a new catalogue to re-import the photos from iPhoto, but I've mislaid the File Renaming Panel that my Lightroom tutor's handout mentions as being on the right-hand side of the screen.  I can only see Histogram and Keyword list.
When I try and rename the files individually, I don't get an option to merely remove one of the 201401112 key strings, I get a series of checkboxes.
I know I've done wrong, but I want to undo it and not make it worse.  I'm scared that if I restore original settings, I'll delete all of my images - all 1400+ of them!
Anyone who can give a solution gets a lovely cake.

I suggest you stop Re-Naming your images on import and place them in folders by the date they were shot. Lightroom can do that for you on import from card or camera or you can do it yourself manually before you import them into LR. You could also put the Sub-folders by date in a top level folder by year or just in one folder named whatever you like.
Not sure why people Re-Name their images when copying them from the card/camera to their hard drive. To me that makes no sense at all. If I have images that I want to separate from others I will manually re-name them and or assign a keyword or rating to them. You can also have collections of images by subject, location, date or whatever you like and those collections can be from any folder imported into LR.
The only time I would even think about re-naming images on import, and or copying to my hard drive, is if I have 2 identical cameras. Which I have in the past. But even then I changed the file naming in the camera having one cameras files start with 1 and the other start with 2

    PM Experts,
Could anyone tell me the path where in IMG the "Data origin configuration lies"  under Plenat maintenance and Customer services and the steps to be followed for deactivating this functionality. I do not know how this Data transfer across objects is happening..
Is this standard SAP behavior of the system.

The option u said me , I tried in DEV environment but it doesnt work like that. Evry time I chnaged the FL of  an equipment, I click on the Instal with transfer button and find that the radio buttons in the screen for data transfer are not according to my previous set up but accoring to its default setting as it was. Also If I try doing the FL Change for same equipment also, evry time I do the change , the radio buttons arrrangements are the same.
So it means we have no other way out, rather follow the selection methodof reqd fields everytime we transfer data.

  • Audition - Restoring Original

    Premiere Pro CC v7.2.1
    Win7 Pro 64-bit
In Premiere, you have a clip which was edited via "Edit clip in Adobe Audition".
Premiere never changes the original clip, it creates a separate audio file which Premiere uses.
You later reopen the project in order to restore that clip to the original.
There does not appear to be a "restore original audio" menu item for the clip.
How do you restore the clip audio to the original?
    Thanks in advance.

Jim - Before submitting this as a Feature and Bug request to
    Feature Request/Bug Report Form
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Please let me know if the following correctly summarizes the situation.
If it does, I  hope you and others will also submit it. Thanks.
In the Premiere Pro CC v7.2.1 timeline, when you edit a clip via "Edit Clip in Adobe Audition",
Premiere never changes the original clip. It creates a separate audio WAV and PKF in the bin.
If you re-edit the clip, Audition creates a new WAV and PKF with "Audio Extracted" appended to the filename.
This leaves multiple WAV and PKF files for the same clip which is annoying.
If you later reopen the project in order to edit the original, there are issues.
In the timeline, if you select the audio part of the clip, the "Edit Original" is grey.
In the Project window, if you select one of the WAV files for the clip in the bin,
the "Edit Original" menu item for the clip does not edit the original - it opens Windows Media Player.
This Is A Bug. In the timeline, one should be able to select the audio, then select "Edit Original", and have it edit the original.
Also, it should delete all the previous multiple WAV and PKF files.
There Is Also A Major Feature Missing. One should be able to "Restore Original".
Specifically, in the timeline, one should be able to select the audio, then select "Restore Original", and have Premiere place the original audio back.
Premiere should also delete all the WAV  and PKF files for the clip.
