Restoring Out-of-box settings NB205-N325BL

I've tried restoring my NB205-N325BL to it's out of the box state byt holding 0 while turning the power on. However, it isn't working. When I turn on my netbook and then open my computer, I noticed that there is a drive "D" that's labeled "HDD Recovery". I just want to know how I can restore my netbook back to the out of the box state.

See the section Recovering the Internal Storage Drive, which begins on p. 50 of the User's Guide.

You may want to burn the discs (see p. 59).

  • How can I restore out of box configuration on Cisco device?

    Hello,
The new Cisco devices (routers and switches) are coming with some default (out of box) configuration, but not without configuration, not with blank configuration.
I realized that there is some command that can restore thе default configuration. But I can't find it.
What is this command? Anyone does it know?
    Thanks in advance!
    Best Regards,
    Tsvety

Mike's suggestion was correct. I would only add that one needs to erase vlan.dat if you have a switch that was used elsewhere. Cisco procedure linked here (for switches) and here (for routers).
Even a brand new factory-fresh box will have SOME configuration bits on it. A skeleton configuration - the default VLAN 1, empty interface definitions, etc. will always be there. The only way to remove everything would be to erase flash altogether forcing one to boot in rommon (not very useful).

  • Is a factory restore, out of box worth it? Make iMac faster than is now?

I still consider myself new to iMac and OSX coming from PCs. I have a 2007 Aluminium Core 2 Duo 2Ghz, 2Gb RAM with Snow Leopard and iLife 09 on.
I am just finding now after 3 years that I'm getting a lot of "beach balls", general slow down. I have a 320Gb internal HDD and about 100Gb free. I now run my iTunes library from an external HDD as it got too big with movies/TV shows.
I haven't got many extra programs installed, Handbrake. Open Office, metaX, iDentify2, YouTube converter, iClip. I don't run many widgets on dashboard either.
So what I'm wondering is would it be worth me doing a total factory reInstall/reset (which would be Leopard and iLife 08?) and then putting Snow Leopard and iLife 09 on, and all updates, then the few extra programs I have?
All I need backed up is my iTunes and iPhoto library's, which are at the moment with Time Machine. However I will make a separate backup of these to another drive.
Will this help any? I used to do this on my PC and it used to help a lot, as I say there's only iTunes and iPhoto I need to worry about.
    Cheers

You can reinstall over your current installation of SL or you can do a reformat that will wipe the disk totally clean so your MS Windows will be wiped as well.
If you don't restore from Time Machine and begin over again then there really isn't any point in using TM. However I think you should post that question in the TM forum located here. I would recommend reading the TM FAQ and Troubleshooting areas.
In total honesty I think you are still thinking of OS X as a Windows user, it's not Windows and while doing a complete reformat and install is the way to get the most clean system in most cases it's just unnecessary.
My iMac shipped with Tiger, then I upgraded to Leopard and now Snow Leopard. I did upgrades when going to Leopard and SL, not erase and install or reformat's and install. My OS X system performs as well today as it did when it was new. I also have XP installed using Fusion, I have noticed that while I hardly use it it continues to get slower and slower. It's clear they are built on two totally different methodologies. While there may be some on the surface similarities under the surface they're as different as night and day.

  • Resetting Macbook to out of the box settings

Hi, Can anyone tell me if its possible to reset my Macbook without having to run the install CD?
In other words I am selling it but want to upgrade it to 10.5 but I want to set it back to the out-of-the box settings... I hope I am being clear?
    Thanks

You need to use the install CD in order to erase and reinstall a clean Mac OS X.
Also, if you used iTunes on this MacBook, launch iTunes. Select Store from the Menu Bar, then click Deauthorize Computer...

  • Once ipad 1 restored to out of box state how do you update ioS

Got new iPad Air and wanted to give original iPad to my mom, so restored the iPad to its out of box state.  However, now when she goes to set up the iPad as hers and update the software, it says the software is up-to-date (at ioS 5).  How does she update?

Because Apps get updated all the time. If you had already downloaded a prior version of the App then that's what you were using and not the updated version.
Your mom should still be able to get a version of the App for the older iOS version though.
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5919
You may need to download the newest version to a compatible device or a computer running itunes so it gets registered to the Apple ID she is using now and can be downloaded then form the Purchased tab in the App Store App.

You need to contact Apple Customer Service about purchasing replacement discs for the computer. You have posted in the PPC forum, so I assume you do not have an Intel Mac, but since you haven't stated what you have we simply don't know enough to assist you.

  • My iphone 3gs won't allow me to enter my email password.  The acct is all greyed out in the settings menu and now I can't get email.  I restored the phone through iTunes and did a hard reboot but nothing helped!!

I changed the password on my Yahoo mail account and now the phone will not let me enter the new password.  The mail account is greyed out in the settings menu.

Try deleting the account and set up a new one. Also make sure to not sync the phone with old email settings.

Follow these directions, exept it is completely unnecessary to choose a 7 or 35 (you will be in the next century before that one finishes) pass erase. But definitely do a zero out data one pass erase. Completely sufficient.

  • How can I turn off the laptop after restoring it to factory settings?

    Hello everyone
I am selling my Portege R830-10Q so I want to restore it to factory settings (out-of-box state) AND THEN TURN IT OFF.
I have successfully brought the laptop to factory settings by using the _TOSHIBA Recovery Wizard_ and choosing *Recovery of Factory Default Software (Recover to out-of-box state)*. However, at the end of the recovery process and after everything is re-installed I was not able to TURN OFF the laptop. I was only given the option of restarting it. After restating it, the Windows set-up process starts.
I don't want to set-up Windows, i.e. language, keyboard, user account, etc. I want to leave the Windows set-up for the person who buys the laptop from me. How can I switch off the laptop after the system recovery without having to set up Windows?
    I'd really appreciate your help.
    Regards
    Pedro

When recovery procedure is finished and you are asked for restart just press power button and switch it off. I think it only thing you can do.
Anyway, why not to start Windows and go through setup option. New owner can change this basic settings anyway. As username put Admin and language and keyboard can be set as default.
For instance, if you have German recovery image set everything to German. New owner can change it anyway.

  • Help! I can't delete my neighbors email from my iPhone 5 icloud account after I sold it to him after restoring it to factory settings.  Now he's on my iCloud account and it cannot be deleted.  Its impossible.  help. It seems the first one cant get delete

Help Please, I sold my iphone 4 to my neighbor after I restored it to factory settings.  I just bought a new iphone 5 and decided to check out the icloud "stuff' so that I can use 'find my iphone' because I have 2 kids.  I went to check out my icloud on my imac and in the address bar put icloud.com then signed in, double clicked on mail went accounts then clicked on the gear in the right hand corner and there it was.  My neighbor had his email in the icloud and there absolutely was no way to delete his info off of my new phone.  I guess once the first person enters their info you absolutely cant get rid of it.  you can get rid of aliases but just not the original one. WHY!!  Is there any brilliant, wonderful, generous person out there that would know how to delete him from my account.  The genius bar said that they've never seen this before.  If someone can help I'm taking the info to the apple stores that I went to so that I can teach them how to do it.  Of course, I will tell them who showed me. I give you my word.

As far as I know you can't delete the primary email address for an iCloud account.  It's assigned when the account is created.  But your neighbor wouldn't have been able to get into your iCloud account without your Apple ID and password.  Are you sure the account wasn't still on your phone when you gave it to him?
You could migrate a copy of your data to a new iCloud account but I would still be concerned that someone else was using my old account, which presumably still has your data in it.
I'm fairly certain that you're going to have to have iCloud support help you sort this one out as they may have the ability to make changes to an existing account that users can't.  Make an appointment with the genius bar at a nearby Apple store and have them take a look at it.  If necessary, they should be able to contact iCloud support for you.

  • I just got my dads old iPhone 4. I restored it to factory settings and set it up with my apple id. The albums in my music are fine in iTunes but on my phone the albums are split and each song is its own album. Does anybody know how to fix this?

My dad has recently gotten a new phone and I got his old one. With his permission I restored it to factory settings and set up the iPhone 4 as a new phone with my apple id. Everything has downloaded fine but I have had many problems with my music. First it was where my phone didnt recognise my apple id, but I  figured that out. Then it was where iTunes took one of my albums and split it so all the songs where their own albums. I fixed the album split on iTunes but its still like that on my iPhone. I have looked online everywhere and I still haven't found a solution! I'm getting super frustrated! Does anybody know how to fix this?

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.
