Restoring phone from icloud?? am I missing something here...

Hi All:
I recently restored my iphone and everythign is now wipped from it.
I went to make a phone call today and was like, oh right, I wiped it out but then thought of the icloud backup I have. How do I restore my contacts or anything from icloud.
there is nothing on the website about restoring to the phone, I went into itunes but that did not really have anything about restoring the phone other than re-doing what I just did.
Did I miss something in the restore process that says "click here to restore from cloud"?
Thanks for any help or advice on this,
Paul

At the top of the screen in the app store, I see a choice - "Iphone" "IPad".
Do you not have this choice?

Just got replacement iPhone 4S started resorting data from iCloud in apple shop but then came home before it completed. Connected to wifi at home but restoration won't complete. What do I do now?

You and your wife are using the same ID for icloud - that is your problem.  Using the same ID keeps all devices in sync.  Delete something from one device and it goes from all devices.  You should each use your own IDs (have two icloud accounts - but if sharing the same ID for the itunes store, you can keep that ID on each device for the store, not icloud).
To restore from an icloud backup -
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  This will erase your phone.  Then you will go through the setup screens again as you did when your phone is new, and when given the option, select Restore from iCloud Backup.
Changing accounts, creating new account -
If you already have another icloud account, and want to set it up on a device, then go to Settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of screen and tap Delete Account.  This only disconnects the device from that account, no data is lost on icloud.  Then enter the account ID that you want to use.
To create a new icloud account, go to

  • Restored phone from iCloud, phone is completely messed up.

Help! I restored my 4s from an iCloud backup from the day before, all settings and everything are exactly how they always have been for the last 2 months. Yet something is now terribly wrong with my battery life. Something appears to be constantly running in the background and it is absolutely DESTROYING my battery life. Please reference the picture below, I can't even get through 4 hours before my phone dies, this is very bad.
Check out the usage and standby, apparently something is constantly running and I can't figure out what it is. The phone is also warm all the time which is a pretty good indicator that something is just chewing up my battery even though I don't have any apps running in the background (ie: on the bottom bar that you can force close).

I gave that a shot last night, probably after 7 hours or so of the same thing happening after I tried to set it up in the store. I thought that maybe because I left the apple store and lost wifi it was interrupted, but given that i work from home and have been on the same network since 10/11 last night i dought that is it. i just tried syncing it through my comp, but its been doing that now for about an hour. i have a hunch i am just going to have to delete all of my apps and manually put them back on. thanks icloud!

  • Can't restore apps from iCloud

I managed to successfully restore my new phone from iCloud... but after the restore it then attempts to download my apps from the app store, and I get a message "some of the items on your order are not available in your region". The restore then halts. This happens every time i click an app to retry.
So much for no longer requiring the computer (fortunately I have a backup on my PC Too)
    Any ideas??

You can go to the app store and download it again for free, if it was previously purchased using the same Apple ID that corresponds to the app store.

  • How do I restore data from icloud to iphone

how can i restore data from icloud to iphone

You mean an iCloud backup?  If so, first make sure your phone is running the same or higher version of iOS as the device that backed up was running.  If it isn't, you'll have to update it first in order to restore the backup.
Then go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts.  Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger while it is restoring the backup.

  • How can I restore data from iCloud

My iPad locked up last night and I had to restore to factory settings to make it operable.  During the process it asked me if I wanted to restore my data and it told me that the latest and only backup was from a few minutes before that time which was AFTER all my stuff got wiped out.  I was able to resync some apps and all my music from iTunes, but I lost a ton of pictures and other files that I thought were SUPPOSED to be safe on iCloud.
So I start reading about restoring data from iCloud and apparently Apple only does this on a NEW device.  What a load of crap!
Does anyone have any idea how I can get my data from the stupid iCloud to my stupid iPad?

The "Apple data" such as contacts, calendars, notes, etc. are not backed up to an iCloud backup, since they reside in the special databases on iCloud.  If you delete some data from a device (e.g. one contact), it is deleted from that device, from iCloud's database and thus from all other devices connected to that iCloud account.
Hence performing a restore from an iCloud backup will not help.
However, if that data was ever on a computer (assuming the computer also synced data from iCloud) and if you consistently perform backups using something like Time Machine on a mac or any number of backup programs on Windows, then you should be able to restore the data from that backup.  For example, on a mac, invoke the contacts app then choose Enter Time Machine from the Time Machine icon on the main toolbar.  That will allow you to go back in time and choose an older backup to restore.
If you have an iTunes backup on the computer, I'm not really sure that also includes the Apple data stored on iCloud.  It should have the local data.  For example, Contacts can be under "iCloud" or "On My Mac" (or whatever computer you use).  An iTunes restore should restore the data on your computer.
The whole idea regarding an iCloud backup is that if your device ever fails and must be replaced or reset, the backup will restore all the data as it was at the time of the last backup.   The restore will return all the device's settings such as iCloud login, on/off states of data to connect to (like contacts).  Once that's done, the device will connect to iCloud and download the current data.
    IMPORTANT...
Photos should be regularly synced to a computer (like you store photos from a digital camera) using either USB via iTunes (on a mac use iPhoto or Aperture to move them to an album) or using photo stream.  If you have been doing that, then you can sync those photos back to your device.
If you haven't been saving photos except relying on iCloud to store them in a backup, then that is risky, as many users have discovered.  I'm afraid I have no advice in this case - there is no "cure".

  • How do I get my contacts back on my phone from iCloud?

I recently went on vacation and for some reason, my contacts got wiped out. No clue why, but I got on iCloud.com and found that all of my contacts are still there. I can't restore my phone because I've never synced it to a computer and I know that once I do, the back up that will be on my computer to use for the restore is how my phone is now, with the very few contacts I put back in. Instead of putting them all back in manually, how do I get the contacts on my phone from iCloud.

Not syncing/backing up the device is simply not smart.
Restoring the device is unlikely to have any affect on the device or the contacts.
Settings > iCloud > Contacts, turn it on.
If it is already on, open the Contacts app and select the Groups option in the upper left corner.  Select the iCloud account and then Done.  All the contacts should now appear.

Okay so i had an iphone 5.  I backed it up on icloud. Then i got the new iphone 5s i restored ot from icloud from my previous iphone 5.  Now everything works find execept now the games are slowy and drops the frame rate and look choppy. Then i restarted my iphone 5s as a new device downloaded the same apps even the ones optimized for ios 7 and the games still lag. And i just got my iphone 5s replace.  The funny thing is.  While im playing games and their running choppy and slow and if i take a snap shot inside the phone. They run smooth and HD but just for a few seconds and boom they go back to slow and choppy.  Is it the ios 7 or the iphone 5s it self? Like i said this is my replacement iphone 5s because the other 5s did the same thing. And it was running slowly.

As far as I know you can't delete the primary email address for an iCloud account.  It's assigned when the account is created.  But your neighbor wouldn't have been able to get into your iCloud account without your Apple ID and password.  Are you sure the account wasn't still on your phone when you gave it to him?
You could migrate a copy of your data to a new iCloud account but I would still be concerned that someone else was using my old account, which presumably still has your data in it.
I'm fairly certain that you're going to have to have iCloud support help you sort this one out as they may have the ability to make changes to an existing account that users can't.  Make an appointment with the genius bar at a nearby Apple store and have them take a look at it.  If necessary, they should be able to contact iCloud support for you.

  • Restore iphone from icloud

how do I restore my phone from icloud backup?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
The best way would be to connect it to iTunes on your computer with a USB cable, then choose restore from iTunes. You can select to restore from your backup when prompted.

  • HT4859 restore notes from icloud

My notes just disappeared from my Iphone 4i.   How do you restore notes from icloud?

If notes were synced to icloud they can be retreived from icloud.com website.
If notes were backed up to icloud that can be retrieved with restore of device.
Problem is that if notes were synced to icloud, you are very unlikely to lose those, and chances are you would not be here. Another problem is that notes are in most of the times aren't in backup. Notes normally backed up/synced by imap servers and in that case backup contains only such servers settings, but notes are downloaded later automatically after restore from back up.
I know all that sounds like blah blah blah, but here is summary
if notes are not in icloud.com - backup is probably useless and places to check would be notes folders of email accounts that were set up on the phone. Example - I have yahoo account and yahoo server syncs my notes. When I go to yahoo.com and login, there is folder - notepad - contains all my notes, I can copy, save and so on.

  • TS3988 Restore iPhone from iCloud

I just got a new iphone 4. The dealer started it up. When I got home I wanted to restore it from iCloud? Can't figure out how.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
To restore a iCloud backup, first you have to erase your phone. To do it, open Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
Then, your phone will be erased and you will have to set it up again. During the setup, it will ask you to restore a backup, so select the option to restore a iCloud backup and follow the steps

  • Restore data from iCloud without resetting?

Let me get this straight. If I want to restore data from iCloud, then I will need to reset everything before I can do that? I have some photos that I need to restore, I can not do this in mac (asking for aperture or iphoto, which I refuse to buy, as Apple tries to nickel & dime). If this is correct,  then this is the dumbest idea, and iCloud qualifies to be the worst thing in the history of computers ever!

I have a MacBook Pro. I connect my iPad to the Mac with the USB cable and launch Image Capture. My iPad appears under the Devices heading with the option to import all of the photos - or any combination of them - to any folder on my Mac that I choose.
Did you try connecting the iPad to your Mac and launch Image Capture?
iCloud and iTunes both create full backups of the data and photos that are on your iOS device. The backups are to be used in emergency or troubleshooting situations. These backups are not like having external storage where you can selectively restore content. If your iPad software were to go bad and you needed to restore it, you could restore from the current backup in order to get all of the files and app data back onto the device.
Backups are not the same thing as storage drives where you can drag files onto and off of the drive.

  • I am setting up my Iphone 6 but keep getting an error message "cannot restore backup from Icloud...I backed up my old Iphone 5 just yesterday...Any suggestions?

During setup of Iphone 6 I keep getting error message "cannot restore backup" from Icloud.  I backed up my old Iphone 5 yesterday.  Is it because of different operating systems? Please help. Thanks!

Does your iPhone 5 IOS is later than iPhone 6 IOS?
If true, you need to update your iPhone 6 before you can restore from your backup.
If not, is iPhone 6 connected to power supply?
