Restoring pics from mac mobile sync backup to iphone?

I updated my iphone to the newest version without  thinking and lost all my pics and videos  from camera roll
I found them on the macbook under  gibberish named files in  Library>app support>mobile sync>backup
I would like to get the pics and videos on the phone again. But I suspect that cant happen unless  I  move them somewhere  easier to find on macbook  for syncing     Any suggestions?  Easiest way to solve the problem?

Jailbreaking and "hacking" to unlock are in fact two different items. Many phones are "hacked" to unlock them but, not jailbroken. Read through this article to understand the iphone restore process. "Choose a backup to restore. This will restore only the contacts, calendars, text messages, and settings, not the iPhone firmware." The iphone firmware is NOT included in your phone's backup. Part of the process of restoring an iphone is the verification process with Apple's servers, which your phone will fail. As I've already stated, ANY ATTEMPT to update software or restore an iphone that has been hacked to unlock it will re-lock the phone to the carrier it was originally locked to. As to the fact that your phone is also jailbroken, I don't know what will happen. You could end up with a brick.

  • What is mobile sync backup?

What does Library/Application Support/Mobile Sync/Backup do for me? Mine takes over 8Gb and has files dating back to 2011. Is it safe to delete these? I have no idea why I need them.
Any help appreciated as I try and slim down my MBP.
    James

These backups are from your mobile devices.
You can delete those backups to free up storage space.
But make sure that you sync your mobile devices soon after deleting those backups to create a new backup for your devices.

  • HT5330 If I move from Mac/Mobile Me email to iCloud, will my current account's email vanish?

Probably a silly question. I am running Snow Leopard and for a couple of days have not been able to send mail from my long-time Apple email account.  I have started the move from Mac/Mobile Me email to iCloud, when all I really need is to enable the iCloud SMTP server, I think.
When  I was a few steps into the move, I reached the point where I had to either "continue" with my current email address/password, or create a new email account   If I follow Apple's direction and "add" an account with my core user info, will I end up with "my" account as iCloud, but with my current account's email "vanished?"
I go back far enough that my Apple user name is not an email address, and my email address is dot.Mac, and I'd like to keep it that way, but right now I just want to be able to "send."  Since my problem began I have been writing and then saving emails on my iMac, then opening them on my iPad or iPhone and sending the emails from those devices.  Thank heaven for IMAP!!!!
    Thanks,
    Laura

[email protected] [email protected] and [email protected] are all the same thing: emails to all three go to the same inbox. You must presumably have gone through the migration process from MobileMe to iCloud before 1 August last, or you would have lost access to the account. However if you didn't set up Mail for the different iCloud server settings I wouldn't have expected to go on working this long.
In any case, I would suggest you delete the account from Mail (this won't delete anything on the server) and set it up again from scratch following the process described in this illustrated article:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard

  • I am trying to sync/backup an iphone 4S.....

I am trying to sync/backup an iphone 4S i've never plugged into my computer before.
The only options it gives me is "set up a new iphone" or "backup from 'my iphone'"
Why can't I choose to backup this different iphone?
If I select "set up a new iphone' will it erase the data that's currently on the phone?

Just to understand what you are trying to do...
You want to save the content on the phone?
So you need to choose backup this iPhone to the computer.   It will not over write a backup of a different phone.
    OR
Are you trying to erase the phone and setup as a new phone?
    OR
    What?

  • How do I change Mobile Me from .Mac to .Me on my iPhone

I just got the new iPhone 3GS, and when I synced (restored)from my old iPhone, I noticed that my Mobile Me on the iPhone has the .Mac address instead of .Me.
I think this may have something to do also with the Find Me Locator on me.com. It worked on my old iPhone for 2 days (since 3.0 came out) but on the new phone even though I've checked by settings, can get it to show my phone online at me.com.

If you are using the same Apple ID on your iPhone 5 and on your iPad, you can synch several things.  Your iTunes account can be synched so that any apps and music you purchase appears on both devices. You can synch your Safari Bookmarks and pages views on each device, which is handy if you find something on one device and then later want to find it on the other device.  Your Photostream can be synched so that photos taken on your iPhone will automatically appear on your iPad and vice versa. You can mirror text iMessages to both devices, which is kind of handy. Finally and most useful to me, you can use the Find My iPhone feature on your iPhone to find your iPad and vice versa.
    My Suggestions
    1. In Settings, iCloud, make sure that you are using the same iCloud account on your iPhone and on your iPad.
    2. In Settings, Mail, make sure that you are using the same email account on each device.
    3. In Settings, iTunes & App Stores, make sure you are using the same Apple ID. Turn on Automatic Downloads on Music, Apps, and Books (you may decide to turn one of these off if you run into space limits.)
4.In Settings, Photos and Camera, turn on My Photo Stream.
    5. In Settings, iBooks, turn on Sync Bookmarks and Sync Collections.
    Be Careful
You may have to tweak Facetime settings if you wish to have your iPhone call your iPad or vice versa. If you do, you'll want to have one unique element on each device, eg uncheck the phone number on your iPad, and uncheck a secondary email address on the iPhone. You may not want to do this, so might not be an issue.
Please feel free to correct me if any of this is in error or is unclear.  I am glad to share my experiences and happy to hear back from the community.

  • Restoring data from a Time machine backup of a potentially corrupted drive

I seem to be the queen of failing hard drives, heh. I'm on my third in a year, and will be addressing the root cause of these failures, of course, but right now, I'm wondering how safe it is to restore from my Time Machine backup. Here's the scenario:
-- Drive started throwing I/O errors, detected via SMARTReporter, about 2-3 months ago. No change in how the machine functioned, all OK.
-- I continued to back up daily to TM & Crashplan
-- While traveling for a month (and not backing up anymore, I left TM home), the machine started acting funny. Finder freezing, etc. I decided to clear some caches (by booting into safe mode) and see what happened.
-- This caused the HD to fail completely. Recovery mode, target disk mode, booting into single user mode and command-lining fixes, and DiskWarrior all failed to rebuild the directory. Failures were in multi-linked files/directories, the catalog file, etc.
-- I ordered a warranty replacment drive (and a new hard drive cable for starters).
When I got home, I borrowed another machine and just did a Verify Disk on the TM backup. It came back totally clean. So, my question is: is it safe to restore the data from my TM backup to the new drive when it arrives?

    Shouldn't be any problem.
Boot from your SL installer DVD (hold down the C key on startup or hold down Alt/option on start and choose the installer disc).
OK the language page (if present). From the installer screen, go to the menu bar and choose Disk Utility; depending on the OS version it may be in the Utilities menu or Tools menu.
In DU, select your internal drive in the sidebar (the top item with the makers name and serial no.). Run Repair Disk. If that comes up as disk OK, click the partition tab. Select the partiton from the drop-down above the graphic; 1 partiton is all you need. Go to the options button and ensure that the partition scheme is GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for G5 and earlier) and the file system to Mac OS Extended (Journalled). Name the partiton (usually Macintosh HD), click Apply.
When that's finished, select the new volume in the sidebar (indented to the right below the drive) and go to the Erase tab, select Security options and select zero data (one pass is more than sufficient). Click erase. That will take quite some time; probably measured in hours and dependant on the size of the drive.
When that's completed, close DU and continue with the installation.
Shortly into the installation process, you'll be asked if you want to migrate data from another source. Select 'from a Time Machine Backup' and follow the prompts.
    See Pondini's FAQs;
    http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/19.html
    http://web.me.com/pondini/AppleTips/SetupAsst.html
That should leave you with the same setup as you had on the previous MB.

  • Restore files from last Time Machine backup after HD erase and install

I just had to do an "erase and install" ... trying to restore files from my last Time Machine backup but after completing the Airport Utility setup / configure steps, it says "waiting to restart" for a few minutes and then says it cannot find TIme Capsule after restart (though TC never restarted). I'm pretty desperate to get my files back as it's Sunday night and my business needs to be up and running by morning. Any help would be greatly appreciated ... even if it's saying I need to take TC into a Mac store to have them retrieve my files.

While in Time Machine, press the key combination shift-command-C. The front window will show all mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and navigate to the files you want to restore.

  • How do I restore Reminders from a Time Machine backup?

    Hi,
For reasons which are long and unimportant I have to restore my mac from a time machine backup without being able/wanting to use a full migration assistant etc
I'm currently having issues with restoring my Reminders from the TimeMachine backup I made. I have manged to restore Notes, by going to Library --> Containers and restoring the "com.apple.notes" folder, but this process doesn't work with the similar folder in Containers ("com.apple.reminders").
Am I doing something wrong here? Where does Mountain Lion store the reminders data?
    Many thanks for any help

    OS  X Yosemite  version 10.10.1
I recently lost most of the contents of my Reminders. Although I can't be sure of the cause, I suspect a certain Mac cleaning utility.
I was able to restore my Reminders with the help of Apple Support, but the procedure was not straight forward as the ~/Library/Calendars folder “contains account data and generally speaking it will cause iCloud to activate even if deactivated and remove the data since the time stamp on the data is older than on iCloud”.
Here is the procedure that I followed:
    1. Disconnect from Internet
    2. Make a backup of your current ~/Library/Calendars folder
    Locate Calendars folder using Finder
List the folders in your Home folder
Click on Go  → Hold down alt key to see Library → Click on Library  → Click on Calendars
Copy the Calendars folder to Desktop
    3. Locate Calendars folder in Time Machine
    Locate Library folder using Finder
List the folders in your Home folder
Click on Go → Hold down alt key to see Library → Click on Library
    Enter Time Machine
Locate Library folder for the day/time you want to restore
    Click on Calendars folder
    4. Restore Calendars folder
Then Restart and check your Reminders to ensure that they are OK
    5. Make a local backup of your Reminders
Export each Reminders list to (say) Desktop
    Reminders → File → Export
    6. Reinstate previously saved Calendars folder
    Locate Library folder in Finder
Copy saved Calenders folder from Desktop into Library folder (over-writing previous Calendars folder)
    Restart
    7. Update Reminders from local backup
Import each Reminders list from Desktop
Reminders → File → Import → select backup file → select appropriate Reminders list
    8. Reconnect with Internet

  • How do i restore contacts from a previous icloud backup?

Somehow - half of my contacts have disappeared.
I turned icoloud backup off , but the most recent backup is missing those contacts as well.
i am pretty sure that the previous backup have the full contacts that i want to restore.
Don't want to restore the entire phone.
how can this be done ? will icloud drive help ?

If you turned iCloud backup off and deleted the backup, you won't have an earlier iCloud backup to restore from.  Your most recent backup, if you didn't delete it, may have your contacts if it was made before the contacts were lost.  However, you have to follow this process to restore contacts from an iCloud backup: Recovering deleted iCloud contacts from an iCloud backup.  Otherwise the recovered contacts will be deleted as soon as your device reconnects to iCloud (making you think that they weren't included in the backup).

  • How do I restore notes from a time capsule backup in Yosemite?

All I want to do is restore previously deleted notes form a time capsule backup - something you could easily do in previous releases (I probably haven't tried this for a few years but it used to be really simple)

This procedure will revert the whole Notes database to a previous version. It's not possible to restore individual notes.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Notes
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.apple.Notes" selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Trash, then restore it from a backup that predates the unwanted change. If you back up with Time Machine, enter it and select the snapshot from which you want to restore.
Log out or restart and empty the Trash.
If you synchronize Notes with iCloud or another network service, the notes you restored may be immediately deleted after you restore them. In that case, temporarily disconnect from the Internet, for example by turning off your broadband adapter, and restore again. Copy the contents of each note to a document in another application, such as TextEdit. Reconnect to the Internet. If the notes are deleted, recreate them from the TextEdit document. They should then synchronize to the network.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Restoring MBA from a Time Machine backup

I wanted to check to see how successful I would be in recovering my MBA from a TM backup.
I had my TM USB backup disk connected to my MBA.
I used the Remote Installer on my PowerMac G5 (June 2004) to service the needs of the MBA for a remote optical drive. The connection between the MBA and the PM G5 was across AEBS WiFi running at 802.11g speeds as the G5 was only at 802.11g. The install wall time to get to the initial install pane on the MBA show Language selection took 28 mins of wall time. VERY VERY slow so one must have patience.
So after clicking thru a few Installer windows I'm able to select the Installer's menu bar's Utilities->Restore System From Backup. This then show a window "Select a Backup Source". The beach ball spun and when it stopped spinning no disk was displayed. I had to disconnect my USB TM backup disk and reconnect it for it to show up.
I was given the opportunity to restore to my MBA's SSD or another disk which could be an external disk. If I want to use an external disk to restore to the Installer said to connect it now. Well I my TM USB backup disk already attached to the MBA directly so there was no other way I could think of for attaching another external USB disk - except for the USB port of the AEBS. I did have a 40GB LaCie USB 2.0/FW400 about that was already formatted with GUID so I grabbed that and connected to the AEBS. But alas it did not show up in the Installer's list of selectable disks for restoring to. So I soldiered on and decided to simply restore the MBA's SSD.
So off it went and started to restore from my direct attached USB TM backup disk. This progress was quite quick with an estimated complete time of around 15 mins.
When the Installer finished the restore from the TM backup USB disk I restarted the MBA and all was as it should be.
The direct attached TM backup USB disk was mounted on Desktop with the TM logo on it and my SSD was mounted on Desktop as a normal internal HD without the TM logo on it.
