  • Windows Server 2008 R2 - Restore Previous Versions - Restored File Filled with Nulls

    ISSUE:
The Restore Previous versions feature on my file server stopped working some time in the recent past.  If I look at the Previous Version for a file or folder the items are listed and they show a valid file size.  However, when I restore a previous
version of a file it is completely filled with nulls.  I have tried local restores on the server and remote restores.  The results are the same; I get a file that is the correct size but completely filled with nulls.  The Server is Windows 2008
R2 64.  I have searched for any reports of similar issues to no avail.   I'm looking for any ideas on how to resolve the issue preferably while maintaning archived files.

    Hello,
Can you help me with this too?
    My Shadow copy stop working!
When my clients right click on Folders, they saw only date in the past.. and the new date not comming!
When i went to file server
==> Computer Management==> Right click on "Share Folder" after that, i got nothing! Only "Gray" at the "Title bar" of computer management.
    Please see attached:
What should i do? Please help me.

  • How to restore previous version of search/results.aspx

    Hi,
I have search center as sub site. There is no Pages library available for the search center.
I had customized the OOTB search results page. Now, I need to restore previous version of the results page.
The url for results page appears as <site collection URL>/search/results.aspx
Which library contains the results.aspx page and how to restore it to previous version?
    Thanks,
    dhijit

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to restore previous version of search/results.aspx.
Per my knowledge, the results.aspx isn’t stored in the library.
You can open the SharePoint Designer to find the results.aspx under the “All Files” folder.
There is no version information on the page.
You need to modify the page to the result which is the same as the previous version.

need to restore previous version of firefox
I have lost my passwords, and no longer can save open tabs on exit. I don't have time to wait for a fix.

To revert to the previous secure version which is 3.6.17, please do the following:<br><br>
#Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.17] and download it to the desktop.<br><br>
#Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (''don't checkmark the box'').<br><br>
#Then reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox<br><br>
#Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.<br>

With the sad face icon, you may need to send it back to Apple for repair.

  • How do I restore previous versions of a file?

How do I restore previous versions of a file?
please I really need your help

If you've overwritten the previous version of the file, you're probably out of luck. Some applications, like MS Word, create a temporary copy of the file, but they usually delete it once changes are saved to the original file.
You can use version control software such as CVS, SubVersion or ClearCase to keep track of changes to files. You could also store previous versions with some kind of backup scheme, with such tools as Apple's Backup, Carbon Copy Cloner, SuperDuper or Retrospect.
OS 10.5 Leopard will include a sort of built-in versioning tool called Time Machine, as well as (reportedly) come with SubVersion pre-installed (OS X currently comes with RCS and CVS).
You might try data recovery software such as DataRescue to see if it has the ability to recover your file.

Is there a way to restore previous versions in CC?
Basically, I was working in a Word file and accidentally overwrote it but didn't realize until a few days later.
I know this is something that Dropbox allows but I can't seem to find a definite answer about Creative Cloud.
    Thanks!

Oh well at least I have an old copy from a while ago to start from. So all hope is not lost.
    thanks Ken!

  • How can I restore previous version of FF as version 4 is useless/appalling in my opinion.

I wish to restore FireFox to its previous versionas I find the present one (Version 4) unpleasant and not easy to use. I prefer a proper toolbar across the top and why move icons to new positions? I am so disgusted with version 4 that if I am going to be stuck with it, it will be a case of "Goodbye Firefox, hello again Unternet Explorer".

Firefox is highly customizable and you may be able to customize it to meet your needs.
If you do not like the new UI, you can make Firefox 4 look and behave more like Firefox 3.6, for details see http://www.computertechtips.net/64/make-firefox-4-look-like-ff-3-6
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

  • Restore previous version of file from BT Cloud

A file on the cloud has been corrupted and I want to restore a previous version.  According to BT:
"BT Cloud on your PC and Mac allows you to recover up to 5 previous saved versions of any backed up files. So if a file has been mis-saved or become corrupted, you can use BT Cloud to find a previous version. "
How do I get back to the earlier versions?

    List all files.
If you double click on your specific file, then a new console appears, giving the option to open the file, using a command icon "open" on the lower right.
    Don't open it yet.
On the bottom right (near the "open" command) there's an info icon.
Click on that and you'll see a list which includes previous versions.
You have the choice of opening a previous version.

  • Restore previous version of itunes

I installed the new version of Itunes (v.9) and was then unable to access the store due to not having the new Safari. I tried to download the new version of Safari but my operating system was not sufficient. I uninstalled Itunes V9 and reinstalled V7.7. An error message occurs everytime I try to open Itunes - "i tunes library cannot be read". Thankfully I have a separate file on my desktop of the full library, although it can't be played unless I upgrade to V9.
    Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks.

if your profile is correct, you would just need to update to 10.5.8 to run Safari 4.x. just download the 10.5.8 combo updater here http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1058comboupdate .html
Safari 4.x System Requirements (from Apple's website):
    +Mac OS X 10.6.1 or 10.6.2+
    +Mac OS X 10.5.8+
    +Mac OS X 10.4.11+
    +Vista, XP and Windows 7+
and reinstalled V7.7. An error message occurs everytime I try to open Itunes - "i tunes library cannot be read". Thankfully I have a separate file on my desktop of the full library, although it can't be played unless I upgrade to V9.
if you really want to downgrade to a previous version, here are the steps:
    +1) Quit iTunes.+
+2) Delete iTunes from your Applications folder.+
+3) Go to your ~/Music/iTunes folder. Delete or rename the "iTunes Library" file.+
+4) Open the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder and look for the backup of your old pre-9 library; it should be dated at about the time you first ran iTunes 9. Copy it back out to the ~/Music/iTunes folder, and rename it to "iTunes Library".+
+6) click here to download iTunes 8.2.1. The page says it's for G3, but the Read Me file says it'll run on G4, G5, and Intel too. Open the disk image and run the installer.+
+You should now be able to run iTunes 8.2.1 again.+
+And your iTunes will restore to before you upgraded and you won't lose anything+.
this is for iTunes 8.2.1, obviously, but you seem to have the installer for v7.7 handy, so it should work just as well in your case.
    good luck !

  • Can I restore previous version of an app from iTunes backup?

I updated an app via wifi and don't like the new version (too many ads).
I deleted it from my iPod Touch.
Can I restore the old version of the app from iTunes?
In iTunes I try to drag the app from the apps folder to my iPod but it springs back.

    Try:
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.
However, sometimes a previous version is not available.

  • Corrupted Spreadsheet / Restore Previous Version in iCloud?

    Hello.
Last night, I went to edit a Numbers spreadsheet on my iPad. This same spreadsheet is also kept open on my OS X desktop, but hadn't been updated in hours. When I went to open it, I got a conflict notification. I chose the most recent one and got a message that it couldn't be opened. This morning, I went to open that spreadsheet on my desktop. It was minimized on my dock, so I clicked the icon, but as it zoomed out, an error message popped up saying that it couldn't be opened. From within Numbers for OS X, I tried to open it a few times with the same result. I made a sopy of the spreadsheet and moved it to my desktop from iCloud. From the terminal, I looked into the directory that represents my spreadsheet and found it empty.
I know Numbers used to save previous versions of files, but I cannot open any version to trigger the recovery. Even if I could, I'm not sure this same functionality exists when saving it to iCoud. I've never had a lost / corrupted spreadsheet in Numbers, so I really don't know what to do to recover. Suggestions?
(BTW, I'm using the most recent version of Numbers both on my MBP and on iOS.)

    Thanks for the reply, SG.
The "cannot be opened" message says essentially just that:
    "FILENAME.numbers" can't be opened.
There's only an OK button to press.
No, I cannot view it in Numbers for iCloud. I forgot to mention that I tried that too.
Yes, I use Time Machine and love it.
    Pete

  • Want to restore previous version on firefox since my Norton toolbar is incompatible and can't do it.

I upgraded to the 4.0 version then discovered my Norton toolbar is incompatible. I have been unable to restore my computer to before the upgrade.

Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about the time scale for updates for other Norton products. Pending the update by Symantec, if you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.

  • How do I restore previous version?

I have, unfortunately, uograded to the latest version. I should have learnt from before that you give no indication as to what plug-ins no longer work until it is too late. I MUST go back to last working version that supports Roboform. Please tell me how to restore this without loosing all my bookmarks etc.

You should be able to tap on the iBooks App in the App store, and when it begins to download it should let you know the version is not compatible and offer the Compatible version for download.
    http://appleinsider.com/articles/13/09/17/apples-ios-app-store-now-offers-last-c ompatible-versions-of-apps-for-older-devices
At least that's the way it worked for me on my old first gen iPad.
You may need to download the non compatible version to a compatible device or iTunes on a computer before you get the option though.
