Restoring Saved Messages on 6280 using Nokia PC Su...

Before getting the firmware upgraded on my 6280 to v3.7 I backed up my phone. However, after peforming the restore it hasn't restored the folders i had created in the Saved Messages folder and I have lost some important text messages. Trying to Add a New Folder on v3.7 doesn't work either. Q. How can I recover the text messages stored under additional folders created in the SAVED MESSAGES folder, assuming they were backed up in the first place?
THANKS

Hi
Have you installed the pc suite support appplication for SMS and MMS messaging?
If not go to www.nokia.com/pcs and search for updates.
Hope this helps

Im afraid if the restore has deleted your messages then as far as im aware you cannot recover them.

  • TS2755 Under "usage" it is showing that 8.2GB in my (saved) messages is being used. How do I delete or reset that?

I've already "erased all content and settings" and also deleted any messages off my other devices.

Have you had a look here...

  • Nokia Suite does not see saved messages

Hi! I transferred a part of the messages in my Nokia 6303 to phone' s folder Saved Messages, and since then the troubles began.
    1. I can not move any sms out of the Saved Messages folder, for example, it is not possible to send them back to Inbox folder or any place else.
    2. Nokia Suite does not see some of those saved messages- they appear as empty boxes there, despite I can read them on my phone.
Can I restore all messages downloaded to Nokia Suite, making them readable?
How can I move the sms from Saved Messages folder on my phone?
Can I tranfer sms from Saved Messages folder of my Nokia 6303 to another phone (even not Nokia)?

    Hi Nicksimper,
Welcome to the Nokia Discussion boards!
First could you do a soft reset on your phone by entering *#7780# into your phone’s keypad. The default password when prompted is 12345. This reset will NOT erase any data, but revert settings back to original. Also, ensure you have the latest firmware by visiting this page and the latest version of PC Suite by following this link here.
The following link provides extensive information for managing your messages on Nokia devices using Nokia PC suite.
In order for you to move messages out of the “Saved messages” folder, you will have to create a new folder in the same directory, but you will not able to move messages back into your inbox. To move your saved messages to another non-Nokia device, you can forward the messages via SMS.
Hope this helps and let us know how it works out.
    Regards,
    haZey

  • Delete Saved messages when messages are already deleted.

I deleted all conversations, but yet when you go to Settings, General, and then usage I still see 2.8Gb of "saved Messages" in memory used.  How?  Thanks for any help.

    lubeckjo wrote:
Apparently after more digging, I am not the only one with this issue.  There is NO WAY to delete these if you are restoring from past points.  The only way to do so is to start from scratch and loose everything or manually put in after deleting the back up.  This is nonsense on Apple's part.
Firstly you DO NOT have to do a factory reset / wipe device, it is simply not required to get the space back!!
Mine had 3GB and I just got rid of it all, here is how:
    METHOD ONE:
    Make a backup in iTunes
    open iBackupBot (Google it)
    Go to the relevant backup
Click on Multimedia File Manager and click on the other Multimedia files tab
Sort by filename by clicking the Filename tab
Find MediaDomain/Library/SMS/Attachments and highlight all of them, then press delete.  You can also click to export to a folder of your choice, if you want to save them that is.
    Then go to System Files>MediaDomain>Library>SMS>Attachments
They will be all listed here, highlight them all and press delete
Then just restore that backup using iTunes!
Tadaa! Space recovered, your messages are still there but without the attachments!  METHOD TWO:
Backup your device in iTunes and then to iCloud
Go to Settings>iCloud and toggle Documents & Data to OFF
Then do a 2nd backup to iTunes and iCloud
Then restore the device from iCloud and the message attachments should be gone, turn Documents & Data back on again in the settings
PLEASE NOTE: Method two is a much longer process but some users may feel more comfortable with this method.
P.S You may want to make two backups in case you get any of the above steps wrong, but it is simple to follow the above and not do anything wrong!
P.P.S You could also just go through every single conversation and delete the attachments one by one, but if you have hundreds or thousands of attachments, this will take a VERY LONG TIME!!!

  • When using Time Machine to restore some Mac Mails, after clicking restore, a message shows "restoring 480 mesages.  They are supposed to appear on Mac Mail sidebar in a special folder.  They are not there and I have no idea where they are?  Would apprecia

I am having a problem with the Time Machine in restoring Mac Mail back to a certain date. Everything works fine, with Mac Mail the active application and entering Time Machine, and I have found the mail file after the location process is done, then I hit Restore and there is a messages "restoring 480 messages", but I cannot locate them anywhere. What is suppose to happen is that a special file should appear in the sidebar of Mac Mail in the section On My Mac.  Any suggestion would be appreciated.
    I use Mountain Lion.

Although you can restore messages from a Time Machine snapshot within the Mail application, it generally won't work with messages that were saved by an older version of Mail. In that case, you have to use an alternative method.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with a folder selected. Inside that folder are subfolders representing your Mail accounts. The names refer to the email addresses you use. Decide which ones you want to restore messages from.
Enter Time Machine and scroll back to the snapshot you want. Select the account folders you want and then selectRestore ... to... from the action menu (gear icon) in the toolbar of the snapshot window. Restore the folders to the Desktop, not to their original location.
From the Mail menu bar, select
    File ▹ Import Mailboxes...
Import from the mailboxes in the folders you restored to the Desktop. The imported messages will appear in a new mailbox. Move the ones you want to keep wherever you like and delete the rest. Then delete the folders on the Desktop.

Nokia 5130 mobile saved messages are not visble not but still show in memory details, my mobile just restrated and with i turn back it on my saved messsages were not visible please help on that

Try to check the saved messages in the sim card. You may also try a power cycle by turning the phone off, removing the battery and pressing the power button without the battery for 8-10 seconds. You can also do a soft reset by pressing Menu > Settings > Rest. factory sett. > Restore settings only so that it will bring back the phone to its original state.

  • Major problem using Nokia Test Message Editor

Using Nokia Test Message Editor on PC Suite 6.83 to create a new message (via USB cable), when I click on create new message (works fine) and then when I click on the "To" button, it says error. It asks me to close program as it has performed an illegal operation. Whys that? The only way I can currently get it to work is by manually entering the phone number but just cant use teh To button.
    whats wrong?

No that's not helping, "oh boy".
I tried to Repair PC Suite from the Unistaller, same error.
Then I uninstalled PC Suite, restarted, ran PC Suite Cleaner 3.5 to get rid of registry settings and files. Then I noticed some old data in Application Data\PC Suite (old IMEIs) which I all deleted, then I restarted again and installed the newest PC Suite back. It asked me to install MMSync onto my phone, which I did. (see separate bug report on that
Then it gave me a message that some "Old Contact Browser data was found and has been moved to a separate folder", which I think is somehow related to the Contacts bug which I had described for a previuos PCS version, under my old nick "zak1974". Feeling good and all hopeful at last, I launched the Contact browser and it got all contacts with no problem, I went to Messages - Inbox. Clicked on Create New Message button, then "To" - only to find the same bug, which I am perfectly able to reproduce and describe on any level reaqired, as I have saved all screenshots and messages on the way to the Text Message Editor crash. All the above gives me some right to declare a software/firmware bug with the versions of products I had described in my first post.
    Any other ideas?

  • Nokia Content Copier won't restore my messages, se...

But it will restore my phone memory images and videos, bookmarks and contacts. What the heck? It's really annoying.
I've looked on the internet for loads of issues to resolve them problem. Here are the things I've tried:
-Restoring them one at a time doesn't work
-The Novi software works BUT its too limited so its not too good
I have a Nokia N95 (normal). I backed it up because I just updated it to the most recent firmware (30.0.015) because of it and it was just everything on the phone, not the memory card. It worked 100% so I had the backup file on the computer. So then I updated the phone, then when I tried to restore it back to my phone it only did about 15% (it ticked Phone Memory, Bookmarks, Contacts) but then it just stayed like that for ages. And now when I try to restore the messages, settings and contacts separately it just stays on 0%, doing nothing.
What can I do to get them back? (Apart from mentioning the failing solutions above?)
What version of Windows is being used?
Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002
    What Service Pack is installed?
    Service Pack 2
What version of PC Suite is installed?
    7.0.8.2
What is the connection method, cable, bluetooth or IR?
Just a DKE-2 cable that came with the N95.
I'm getting really annoyed with this actually - I mean, why make a software for your products that just don't even work!? And its freely available too? Disappointed in Nokia right now. But I really truly appreciate help, because my messages/contacts/settings are dead important. Thanks.

    Hi Manta(and others)
First I tried to do a total restore to factory settings, as you told me to. After that I tried, as many times before, to restore the phone – but again it’s only my pictures, but not the settings, contacts, calendar etc., that are restored.
The size of the backup-file is 6.568 KB.
I’ve tried making a backup using both the version of PC Suite that’s on the cd which is 6.82 and also using 6.85.14.1.
I’ve read about the Noki, and is it right, that is a software making it possible to extract information from the backup-file?
I’ve just bought the phone and haven’t started using it, so luckily I still have all my contacts, my calendar etc. on my old phone, and it is therefore possible to transfer these data to the new phone using e.g. bluetooth.
But because the “green button” didn’t work, when I bought the phone, and I had to hand it in for a repairment, I noticed, that the restore-process doesn’t work.
So now I don’t want to start using me E65, before I find out, what’s the problem, because as time goes by, I will get new contacts, things in my calendar etc., and if it’s not possible to restore a backup-file in case, I e.g. loose my phone, I will have a problem.
    I’m therefore wondering:
    1) Are there something wrong with my phone, so that I should hand it in for a repairment, or is the problem so common, that I just have to accept it?
    2) Are there other things I can do to make a correct restore, giving me trust in the software, which can make me start using the new phone I just bought?
Today I called Nokia Support Denmark again, and they couldn’t give me any information concerning, how long I have to wait for an answer – I don’t believe it.
But I’m glad, that you guys are trying to help…

  • Help getting"use itunes to restore" error message

I connected my ipod to my friends computer to copy a program i had on their to his computer and i then i take my ipod out and get the "connect to your computer use itunes to restore: error message. I know i can just restore it im not going to do that becasue it would be the third time doing so. I get a error with the ipod software but when the ipod updater program comes on the only option is restoring. So i am wondering is there a way to reupdate the software? if not is there any other solutions not involving reformatting the whole ipod.
    Thanks in advance

    hey kurtis,
seems like you and i were having the exact same problem. i took mine to an apple service centre today. the guy said if he can restore it in store it'll cost me $44- for a service fee if not he'll send away for a replacement iPod for free as it is under warranty.
got 10 mins down the road and recieved a SMS from the apple account saying it couldnt be restored and therefore had faulty hardware or the like and so i should be recieving the new one friday.
i recommend if you're still under warrenty (you can check by entering the seriel # on the back of your iPod somewhere on this site) that you follow my lead, even if they fix it in store $44 is better than $450.
    cheers!

  • My saved messages are using a lot of memory.  How do I free up the memory?

My saved imessages are using a lot of memory (3.1GB) on my iphone.  How can I free up the memory?

This is when I go to "usage" and it lists all of the memory used by certain apps.  Messages is the largest, and I swipe to the left to open it and it says that "saved messages" are using all of it.  There is no option to do anything at this screen.

I restored my I phone 4 using Itunes, after that I can't access the icon any more I only got a message that says " ( Sim not Valid.) Only compatible SIM cards from supported carrier may be used to activate iphone. I need some proffesional help. Thanks

"We're Sorry, Activation Server Temporarily Unavailable, contact Customer Care, Sim not vaild?"
99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
So, either get a sim card from the carrier your phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked, if you want to activate it. Because it appears that it was not officially unlocked.

  • How can i restore my e-mails (especially a saved message file) after i uninstall and reinstall

I have picked up some kind of bug in my e-mail program. I have used malwarebyte and Norton and I think it is cleared up. the problem is that I now cannot send e-mails. Comcast tells me the problem is in thunderbird and I should uninstall and reinstall. I have a "saved message file" I do not want to lose. where is this file and how can I save it. thanks.

Please tell comcast from me that they are idiots.
The suggestion to uninstall and reinstall is about as likely to fix your issue as dropping the device in the bath.
So lets look at this. I assume you get some sort of error message, what is it? Exactly please.
Personally I would be putting money on Nortons being the issue as it has a very long standing habit of making mail sending and receiving difficult.
Check in the Nortons firewall that Thunderbird has full access to the internet. Automatic is not enough. Then disable all email scanning ion Nortons, reboot your computer and try sending again. Any better? A new error message?
