Restoring the original "Recently Added" Playlist

I accidently deleted the "Recently Added" playlist, and its accompanying path and logic when new songs are purchased and/or ripped that are automatically put there. Is there any way to restore the playlist and its original functionality? THANKS.

This is simply a smart playlist which can re-built using the following criteria "date added is after", you pick how much time you want to use such 2weeks ago, 1 month ago, etc.

Use the iTunes File menu > New smart playlist.  The rules shown below are the rules used in the original recently added playlist, but you may change them if you wish.

  • I deleted my 'recently added' playlist.  Help!

I'm new to itunes. I have deleted my 'recently added' playlist. I thought I was deleting the content!
Can I get it back so that when I add new stuff it automatically goes into it?

    Hi,
It's just a Smart Playlist, so make a new Smart Playlist called "Recently Added". Set the rule to "Date Added is in the last two weeks" and make sure both "Match the following rule" and "Live updating" are checked. That's the same as the default "Recently Added" playlist...

  • "Most Recently Added" Playlist syncing issue

I add music to my iTunes library pretty slowly, so I created this smart playlist to replace the default Recently Added playlist:
    http://www.cubeupload.com/files/45a800smartplaylist.png
In iTunes, this shows me the the 90 most recent Music items I added to my library. On my iPod Touch 2nd Gen, however, it shows me a seemingly random list of songs in my library which were synced to the iPod.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Corey,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The conditions for your Smart Playlist are specific to the following:
iTunes will pick "90" items, with the parameter of *"most recently added"* - the "most recently added" condition is based of date, too my knowledge it does not encompass time though. - So, if you added more than 200 items and they all share the same date, then iTunes will choose 90 of those 200 items randomly.
Other than that, there may be a metadata error in your files which is causing this issue.
    Regards,
    Peter.

  • I fixed my recently added playlist syncing problem

Ever since the iOS 7 upgrade on my iPhone 5, my recently added playlist would not sync properly.  It would be accurate in iTunes (latest version) but not on my iPhone.  After trying some of the suggestions I found on this forum without luck, I started messing around with it myself.  The way I got it to work was to first power down everything.  After a reboot, I launched the music app on my phone.  I selected the artist catagory and played a song completely until the album was completed (you could fast forward the song till the end).  I left the app on the artist page and closed it in the background (double tap home button, swiped app).  I then launched iTunes and connected the phone with a USB cable.  After syncing, I went into my recently added playlist on the phone and it was up to date!
It seems that in my case if I left the app in the playlists screen, it wouldn't sync.  The app remembers the last screen you had open since the last close, so it automatically reopens in that screen.  I hope this helps anyone having the same problem.  Good luck!

  • How do I create a 'Recently added' playlist on the ipod that only adds the new songs that I add to my library?, How do I create a 'Recently added' playlist on the ipod that only adds the new songs that I add to my library?

I'm trying to recreate the 'Recently Added' playlist that featured in the old ipods (4th gen.?) where it stored the songs you've just added to the ipod and each time you plugged it in it would replace the songs in that list with the new ones you've just added. The 'Smart playlist' at the moment doesn't replace existing songs with new ones except by manual overide. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

Best suggestion: Buy some external USB or Firewire drives. Move your Library to one, back it up to another. A lot more reliable than DVD, a lot less work and much more convenient. For a start, you don't have to break up the library...

  • I just bought and downloaded an album.  the album/tracks are NOT found in my music listing alongside every other track i have purchased! however, they are found and playable in the recently added playlist. plz help

i just bought and downloaded an album.  the album/tracks are NOT found in my music library alongside every other track i have purchased! however, they are found and playable in the recently added playlist.  in addition, when using the search queue in the upper right corner, the artist and album is listed when searched for, but when clicked on, nothung happens.  i have downloaded hundreds of tracks with no issue (not a noob), but have no idea what has occurred...plz help

Have you checked whether the songs are in your iTunes library? If they are, then just drag them to your purchased playlist. If they aren't, try checking for available downloads.
If none of the previous work, then get in contact directly with iTunes store support to tell them about your problem.

  • I deleted the recently added playlist in iTunes...how do i get it back?

i've searched for answers but they were all for windows. does anybody know how to get the recently added playlist back on a MacBook Pro?

The "recently added" playlist can simply be recreated by using a smart playlist with the following criteria: "Date added is after". You pick the time frame, for instance the past month, past 2 weeks, etc.

  • I accidentally deleted the "Recently Added" playlist from my iTunes Library

I accidentally deleted my "Recently Added" file that comes as one of the standard files with the iTunes program. I have been unable to get it back and sure would like this file as it is easier to trace new additions. Anyone know how I can do this? I tried just adding a new file but it does not recognize new additions.

    Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
To recreate the default *Recently Added* smart playlist:
Click *File > New Smart Playlist...*
Click the + symbol to the right hand side
The first line should now read:
Match all of the following rules
Change the next two lines to read
*Date Added is in the last 2 weeks*
    *Media Kind is not Podcast*
There should also be a tick against *Live updating*
Click OK and set the playlist name to *Recently Added*

    Check the box "Live Updating"

  • How do I extend the lifetime of the Recently Added playlist?

When songs are downloaded into iTunes they appear in the "Recently Added" playlist for a while. After an unknown (by me at least) period of time, they disappear. Can I adjust the period of time, say to three, six, nine or twelve months, whare the songs would still appear in the "Recently Added" playlist?

Control-click the playlist, choose Edit Playlist, and change the Date Added cutoff.

    Hi ft_wesadaguy,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you see songs in your Recently Added playlist, they should also appear in your iTunes library. First, double-check that you're viewing your music library:
To view the contents of your iTunes library, click the Library pop-up menu near the top-left of the iTunes window, and choose a type of media to view (Music, Movies, and so on).
    From:
iTunes 11 for Windows: iTunes library
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12402
Additionally, make sure that the "songs" category is selected at the top of iTunes.
If you've confirmed that songs in your playlist do not appear in your iTunes library, I recommend re-creating the library using the steps in this article:
