Restoring the phone possibly?
I've been reading about battery problems, and that restoring your iPhone should help with these problems (for some reason).
Well, I think my iPhone 3GS is one of those phones affected by these problems of short battery life. The battery went down from 67% to 52% after a ten-minute play session of Sneezies at 40% brightness, and all battery drainers off, sans Airplane Mode (which is off). That can't be normal. It also went from 86% to 68% in Standby mode, when I was doing absolutely nothing at all, in four hours.
So I'm thinking this is definitely not normal. I have conditioned the battery three times. Let it drain 100%, and charged it up 100%. It seems to actually have made things worse, if anything.
How would I be able to restore the phone or whatever? I heard some people say "Restoring Software, and registering your iPhone as a new phone" helped with their battery problems as weird as that seems. Is this true?
How would I go about doing this?
Would I lose a lot of data? Like all my applications, music, etc.?
Or should I just go get a replacement at Apple's store, and save myself the trouble?

If you restore your phone "as new iphone" you'll lose your settings and data stored on the phone.
Music, media content and apps are stored on your pc in itunes and can be syncd back after the restore.

If you're using an exhange account, delete it and add it back again after a reboot. This helped some people having battery problems.

dYour friend won't be able to use your apps & the SLA does not permit you to share them with your friend anyway. You might as well restore the phone as a new device before sending the phone to your friend. That way, they can set it up themselves.

I have had this problem before but apple didnt know how to fix the problem so they replaced the phone.
I plugged my Iphone into the computer and went into Itunes and restored the phone because it wasnt working properly. it saved my data and then when it turned itself back on after the restore it was at the main menu when u get a new phone and have to set it up, so i went along and did the normal selections as i did when setting up the phone and when it got to where you choose to set up as a new iphone or restore from previous date with data i chose the restore option, it then said i had no service and the sim card was not compatable for the phone, i turned the phone off and it still says the same thing, im not sure what to do and im very annoyed with how it has happened a second time and ive only had the new phone for about three to four weeks now if that.
what do i do?I went back to iOS 7 and my backup file is restoring but when its done nothing is on my phone still and only takes 11-15 minutes to restore the backup instead of taking 25+ minutes like usual so I guess the backup is corrupted. How can I fix this?

I have a few devices on one apple id and would like to switch out one of my phones so they have there own apple id do I have to restore the phone as new or can i somehow switch it without losing all apps and music in iTunes?

I dropped my iPhone 3G in water and it immediatley turned off. One day later, it turns on again but it tells me to connect to iTunes. iTunes says that I need to restore my iPhone to the factory settings in order for it to work again.
I want to get all of the pictures off of my phone (if it's not too late), but I'm not sure how to do it. The only option iTunes gives me is to restore the phone. My computer doesn't even detect the phone as being connected to my computer so I cannot view the pics that way.
Can anybody help me figure out how to get the pictures off of my phone before restoring it?

Following are Steps to Transfer Photos from iPhone to MAC:
1). Attach your iPhone to Mac
2). Open up Preview
3). Click File menu and from there select “Import from iPhone…”
4). Select the photos you would like to transfer and click import, Select “Import All” in case you want to have all the photos in computer.
5). For confirmation sake go to ~/Pictures/ folder, picture copied from iPhone should be there.
If you have a windows PC then follow below given procedure to Transfer Photos from iPhone to PC.
You can accomplish this just using Windows Explorer, but there are two different methods. And here you go with the first one.
1). Plug your iPhone into your computer without iTunes running.
2). Now pop-up will appear asking what you would like to do with iPhone.
3). Click on “View Content”
4). Locate your photos.
5). Copy the same and paste it at desired location on your computer.
Another method for Mac users is "Image Capture" which is already installed on your mac, I will look for other applications for mac users, hope this helps! -
I just got an iPhone 4 and I'm trying to use it on the t mobile network. The thing is, I've tried restoring the phone so I could use it. I haven't tried my sim on other phones yet. But I will try to see if it works. The iPhone is supposedly factory unlocked btw. Anyways, when I put in my tmobile sim, it searches for the service, but it always ends up saying NO SERVICE. I checked that my network says that the "phone not allowed". So I don't have 3G on this phone I presume. I heard that you need 3G to have service is that correct? But how do I resolve it? The iPhone does know that my phone carrier is tmobile. It just says no service. And I've tried restoring it three times and turning it off and on and it won't work. I don't have a data plan for tmobile tw! Hopefully someone can help! Thank you so much in advance!
If a phone is sold from one friend to another and wants to use it on a different carrier the friend can contact the carrier it was sold by to request it unlocked. I know AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint will give you the steps to unlock it as long as the original contract it was bought under has been completed. eBay/Craigslist is really not the best place to try to get "unlocked phones" from, if it turns out the phone isn't unlocked then I'm really sorry you got stuck with that one and as stevejobsfan said above I would report them immediately and see if you can recover your money. I was updating my phone in itunes and the "update went wrong" and now the phone is not recognized by itunes. I unattatched the phone and it wont turn on or off, just shows a picture of the itunes symbol and a usb cord. In itunes it says that it is an unknown iphone and is in recovery mode so I need to restore the phone. If I restore the phone I loose all my pictures, which I dont want to do...and my contacts. Is there any way around this, so I can get my phone back to normal without wiping it all out? Thanks

While updating/synching I have an error saying that my phone is in recovery; need to restore the phone before it can be used with Itunes. And the phone is frozen with a graphic of the itunes symbol and a connector. If I restore, I assume I will lose all my data. Can anyone offer suggestions on how to get around this? Thanks.
It should restore from the backup. If you don't have any backup then you will lose data but what you going to do you have no other alternative so go ahead and do it.

I upgraded to iOS 5 on my 3GS without any issues but now everytime I connect to iTunes the message ' iTunes was interrupted while restoring the contents of the iPhone. would you like to restore the phone again now? with the options of cancel, continue restore and delete back-up. what happens if i click delete back up?
I'm not getting the message anymore!
What I did:
1.- Went to preferences in itunes/ Devices --> erased the corrupted backup (there were two backups)
2.- Upgraded to iOS 5.0.1
Done!
PS: Maybe upgrading solves the problem without erasing the corrupted backup -
Hi, my iphone 5 encountered an unknown error while updating to iOS 7 via itunes and is now stuck in recovery mode and prompts me to restore the phone when I connect it to itunes but then I would lose all my data. I DO NOT have any back ups on itunes. Is there anyway to get out of recovery mode without restoring or recover data after a restore?
Or any other suggestions please? ThanksAs pdroth said, you should have gotten a backup made when you started the update of iOS. If you cannot find a backup, and the phone is in recovery mode, there are no futher suggestions to make. To get the phone working again you have to restore. You cannot force a backup at this time since it is already in recovery mode. It will not allow anything else but a restore at this point.

I just got an iPhone 5s, and I restored from a previous back up (mistake) and now I can't restore the phone to start again without "turning off the find my iphone setting" but it's using an old email address as the icloud login, which i don't have a password to / never used for an icloud account. I have gone and changed my settings to a different email on my icloud / apple ID but on my phone it won't let me change the email address for icloud, it's greyed over and keeps trying to verify?

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

I was attempting to do the newest IOS 7 update and halfway through the reboot my phone froze. I attempted to restart the reboot by shutting the phone off but when it came back on it showed a USB cord with an arrow pointing to the itunes symbol. When I plugged the phone in it stated that my phone was in recovery mode and needed to by restored. When I attempted to restore the phone it "extracted data" for approximately 30 min and then stated the phone could not be found. I tried this 4 separate times and took the phone to the local Verizon store who tried the same thing with the same results. What do I do?

Loading the latest OS on my Iphone 4 caused the phone to freeze and stop working. I get error message 4013 when trying to restore the phone.

If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you checked your connections and are still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues.
