Restoring Voice Over Clips from the scratch disk

After I make a voice over clip and play it back, the clip plays back on both of my speakers, or it plays the mono recording (I'm using a lav mic and my camera for the voice over) back on both of my speakers.
I recently deleted an audio track by accident, and all the clips on the track went with it. I won't make that mistake again.
I went to my scratch and put one clip back in my browser and then put the sound clip back in the timeline, but now it only plays on my left speaker only. Is there a way to make it play back on both speakers, the way all my other voice over clips play?

Never encountered this myself, but does a Pan Center do the trick? That is, if you select the clip (in the Timeline, I'm guessing?) press Control-. (that's Control and the Period key) to get sound out of both speakers.
Or is that one of the things you've tried already?

  • I have "lost" a voice over clip from my project. Must have deleted it. Can I get it back by using a backup of my computer which I have on an external hard drive

I have inadvertently deleted a voicover to a movie and want to know if I can get it back. I thought perhaps I could use time machine but the backups don't seem to go back far enough for me but I thought they would go back for as long as I have had the computer.

Sometimes voiceovers are not deleted, but still iMovie cannot see them somehow. To see if this is the case, go to your Project in the Finder. Right-click on your project and select SHOW PACKAGE CONTENTS. You should see you voiceovers within the Project Package.
If you do not see your voiceover inside the project package, go to a Time Machine backup (or other backup) from a time when it was working and look in the project package.
The Voiceover should be a .CAF file and it should have the name VOICEOVER followed by a number.

Tried to post a question about restoring my i mac from time machine, but this new format makes no sense to me.  I want to restore my i mac from time machine after I reinstall the OS from the original disk.  Will a time machine restore only restore the applications and data or will it restore the current state of the OS.  My machine will not let me open any photo applications (aperture, I photo, NX 2) I have to force quit them every time I try to get some work done.

I bought a 160gb iPod classic every time I try to put music on my external hard drive only copy up to 1500 songs and then freezes Itune me and I can not close, asks me to restore the ipod as factory, and do nothing . I try to close the program and itune will not let me, I try to turn off the computer and I can not shut, I looked to see if the iPod disk errors and says it's okay. I restored it about 8 times and I've put music and videos but I always delete everything. I crushed and Selection Menu to enter diagnostic sistemade or ipod and I put the manual test where I enter the IO and q tells me everything is fine. I have already given several Format directly from the Windows 7 and anything either, I always delete everything from passing over 1300 songs and I congeal whole team. No longer have to think of this company because Apple gives no solution has this issue.

  • HT1281 What is the best way to restore a Time Capsule from an Archive disk?

I've done an archive of my Time Capsule and am going to store it off-site with my parents. What I'd like to know is, if my Time Capsule disk gets corrupt or needs reformatting, how can I restore its data from the Archive disk? Can I simply copy its files back onto the Time Capsule disk manually? And if so, will Time Machine recognise the sparseimages?

I think you would just keep archive as that.. if the TC was wiped then it is able start TM backup anew.. that is better and quicker than restoring a TC backup from the archive and then using TM to update it.. that would take forever. But yes, you should be able to connect the usb drive to a computer and copy the sparse bundle to the TC..

  • "The scratch disks are write protected or unavailable" on NEW project on PrE

I am running PrE 10 on Windows 7 64 bit.  My computer has two internal hard drives (C and E).  I want to put my projects and all scratch disks on E, the non-OS drive.  When I try to create a NEW project and designate a directory I have already created on E, I get the following message from PrE 10:
"The scratch disks are write protected or unavailable..."
The program won't let me use E.  However, when I check the drive, it HAS created a .PRV directory in the Preview Files directory and a .prel file in the Encoded Files directory.  So it is actually able to write to drive E.
    What gives?  Thanks.
    Jon

    Thanks, Bill and John.
I am running from an administrator account, but I wasn't running "as administrator."  I had already changed the permissions to give everybody everything.
Here is what I discovered.  Running "as administrator" made no difference.  So I ran the program "normally" again.  Then I discovered that although the program was giving me the "The scratch disks are write protected or unavailable..." message, it was actually setting things up properly on my E drive.  When I continued to use the newly created project, the correct directories and files had been set up on my E drive, and I was able to direct my captures to that drive as well.  I haven't done much work on the project yet, but it appears to be working just fine so far.
I just now created ANOTHER new project on the E drive, and PrE did NOT give me the error message.  Everything got set up properly.  Hmm.  It looks as if that message it put out in error, or, at the very least, unhelpfully!
By the way, what is Encore, and how would it play a part here?
    Thanks.

  • How can I remove files from the startup disk

I am getting a screen when I am trying to quit saying   the "MAC OS X startup disk has no more space available for application memory"  by closing the windows and removing files from the startup disk will help.
    How do I do this?

That error message is misleading. Your problem is excessive swapping of data between physical memory and virtual memory.
That can happen for two reasons:
You have a long-running process with a memory leak (i.e., a bug), or
You don't have enough memory installed for your usage pattern.
Tracking down a memory leak can be difficult, and it may come down to a process of elimination.
In the Activity Monitor application, select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected. Click the heading of the  Real Mem column in the process table twice to sort the table with the highest value at the top. If you don't see that column, select
View ▹ Columns ▹ Real Memory
    from the menu bar.
If one process (excluding "kernel_task") is using much more memory than all the others, that could be an indication of a leak. A better indication would be a process that continually grabs more and more real memory over time without ever releasing it. Here is an example of how it's done.
The process named "Safari Web Content" renders web pages for Safari and other applications. It uses a lot of memory and may leak if certain Safari extensions or third-party web plugins are installed. Consider it a prime suspect.
If you don't have an obvious memory leak, your options are to install more memory (if possible) or to run fewer programs simultaneously.
The next suggestion is only for users familiar with the shell. For a more precise, but potentially misleading, test, run the following command:
sudo leaks -nocontext -nostacks process | grep total
where process is the name of a process you suspect of leaking memory. Almost every process will leak some memory; the question is how much, and especially how much the leak increases with time. I can’t be more specific. See the leaks(1) man page and the Apple developer documentation for details.

    Thanks HangTime,
    It says:
+"A. The recordings that you make are stored within the project that you created. It is recommended that you do not mess with the project package (and if you don't know what an OS X package is, or how to open one, it's even MORE strongly recommended that you do not mess with it)"+
what does +stored within project+ means ? so where is the file ?
don't i have to copy them when I want to use a project file from macbook pro to iMac ?

  • How can I get voice over clips to automatically go into its own folder in CS6

When I make a voice over clip while in PP CS6, the clip goes into the project folder. I want them to automatically go into the folder that corresponds to the clip I am doing the voice over for, but I can't seem to do this unless I manually move the clip over..

Thanks for your help here, but I made a mistake in presenting my problem.
I meant getting them to go into the selected bin, not folder, my mistake. Prior to recording the voice over, I highlight the bin I want the .wav file to go into and when finishing the recording, it goes into the project window, not into the selected bin. The only way I can get it into the bin is to manually move it there.
Do you know how to solve my problem by having the voice over go into the preselected bin?

  • Deleting the old Archive Log Files from the Hard Disk

    Hello All,
I want to delete the old archive files of Oracle. These files are very old and consuming very huge disk space.
Is there any way by which I can delete these files from the Hard Disk?
Can I directly delete them using the Operating System Command?
Will it cause any dilfference to the normal functioning of my Database?
If I need to delete these files, do I need to bring the database down?
    Please guide me.
I need to do this activity to make some space free on the Hard Disk.
    Thanks in advance.
    Himanshu

    Hi.
Keep archived logs from time of last backup and forward to currenct time on disk together with the backup itself. And keep older archived logs together with older warm/cold backupfiles on tape as long as there is enough capasity or following your recovery strategy. This way you might be able to roll forward a recovery without restoring these files from tape which often the faster.
Older archived logs can be deleted manually, with scheduled OS script or automatically with RMAN.
    Good luck

  • THE SCRATCH DISKS ARE FULL

I can not complete any action while in photoshop because the scratch disks are full. I have already run into the Performance Preferences and allowed the program to use the 7.09 GB I have of free space. What else can I do? Help please, I am about to throw out the laptop through the windows....

If the scratch disk must be contiguous, then the defrag will help. It's unclear from Adobe literature whether this is true. In fact, from the literature, I'd say it's not, as they only mention "contiguous" and "RAM" together (from my super-thorough googling). I certainly understood it to be contiguous, but I misunderstand a lot.
This Adobe doc might be of use to the OP:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/316/316693.html
(and doesn't defragging free up space too? I used to defrag unix boxes a lot and would save between 24 and 32k each time. YMMV )

I have only had Photoshop elements on my computer for less than a month (free trial). If your program is Photoshop Elements (any version) you have posted in the wrong forum. Somehow your thread has been posted in the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum (video editing).
Please re-post your thread in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum or wait for a moderator here to see your thread here and move it from here to there.

Think about.....Sounds like you do not have enough free hard drive space for editing. In your Photoshop Elements Mac case, please check out Photoshop Elements/Preferences/Performance and the Scratch Disk area.

  • Changing the scratch disk to hard drive

Hello, I've read the forums on here on how to change the scratch disk. I have a Mac Book Pro and I've downloaded the trial version of Adobe Photoshop CC. I brought a Seagate Hard drive 4TB and it's installed and ready to go on my computer, but for some reason I still can't change it. Whenever I go to the Scratch Disk Preferences, the only option I have to change the scratch disk to, is to the Macintosh HD... What am I doing wrong? I don't have enough memory with the regular Mac.
Also, I tried the Command + Alt(option) right on cold starting the program, which brings up scratch disk preferences and, still, I do not get the option of changing it to the Back Up drive from Seagate. Help please.

how did you install the HD
how is it formatted (try using Apple's Disk Utility> Erase> Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

  • How do I clear the scratch disk?

PS CC keeps telling me my scratch disk is too full.  I don"t know where i is ti clear it out.  I'm running Windows 8.

You define which disks to use for your scratch disk in Preferences-Performance. Ideally, a scratch disk is a separate disk drive with lots of free space on it. Every time you load brushes, swatches, make an edit that gets recorded to a history state, etc. information is written to the scratch disk. If you only have the one disk drive on your computer that you are running your OS, Photoshop, saving files, etc, it's possible to use up all the free space for scratch and not be able to save your file!
To immediately free up some scratch space that Photoshop is using, go to Edit-Purge, and remove some (or all) of the saved scratch information. Aside from that, make sure you delete anything not needed on your scratch disk(s) to free up more space. Buy an extra external hard drive of at least a few hundred gigabytes and set that as a scratch disk to avoid running out of scratch disk space.

  • How to save SOME time machine Mac backups from the TM disk to other disk WITHOUT formatting the destination disk?

    Hi,
How to save SOME time machine Mac backups from the TM disk to other disk WITHOUT formatting the destination disk?
I have a Time Machine disk (A) including the backups of several different Macs (B, C, D & E) generated with an old Mac OS X 10.5.8 (iMac PowerPC) over the years.
I have transferred the old Mac contents to a new Mac with OS X 10.8.3 using Migration Assitant. All OK.
Now, I want to erase such TM disk A to use if for other purposes, but first, I would like to RECOVER the backups of some Macs inside it (D and E). Is that possible WITHOUT formatting the destination disk and selecting only some Macs from the TM disk and not the fulll TM disk? How?
    Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I do not think that is messy, anway. I simply used the same external disk as Time Machine disk for different Macs. And that worked OK all the time for years.
The ExternalTimeMachineDisk contains the folder Backups.backupdb
which contains the following folders (each one corresponding to the Time Machine backup made from each Mac):
    Mac1
    Mac2
    MacBook1
    MacBook2
In relation to my message above, is it possible to select specific files, folders or full Mac backups from such Time Machine disk and save them to other disk? How?
    Thanks.
