Restoring windows image from raid 1 to raid 0

Source : IBM Server system x 3250 m4  2x500 GB HDD  RAID 1
Did a bare metal restore windows image. Tried to restore onto destination but it gives blue screen on boot up
Destination:IBM Server System x 3250 m4 1x500GB HDD RAID 0

Hi,
Generally we recommended to perform a restore back to the original device as same configuration may not work on different devices.
For your current situation can you boot into Safe Mode without the blue screen?
If so, try to reinstall your RAID card driver (if there is one) to see if it is related.

  • Restore Windows 7 from Recovery Media on brand new SSD

    Hey all,
    a. I have a brand new Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD which I want to install on my x230t.
    b. I have already created a recovery media disc on a 16GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive.
    c. I have already updated all drivers (and BIOS) on currently installed mechanical hard drive.
So the question is simple, how do I use that to restore to factory settings on brand new SSD? I don't want to:
    1. clone the current mechanical drive and
    2. I don't want to follow this guide as this installs a fresh copy of Windows 7 by downloading the a standard installation ISO and then installing the drivers included in the "SWTOOLS" folder in the C Drive. I want to use the factory recovery disk I created on an USB flash drive as that install all drivers and turn computer to factory state (all at the same time).

Recovery media is actually a clone.  At the Lenovo factory, we preload your system by installing the OS, drivers, and software.  The very last step of the preload process is to create an image of the preloaded HDD using imagex, and this is what is on the Q drive of the Win7 preload.  So if you were to use the recovery media you created, all you are doing is restoring a image (clone) of the HDD as it left the Lenovo factory.  This is what you say you don't want to do.
If it were me, I would install the fresh copy of Win7, manually install the WLAN driver and System Update from the X230 driver matrix, and then let Windows Update and System Update do the rest...
Recovery media is OK, but you are left with a 1+ year old preload and still have to run Windows Update and System Update to download hundreds of updates.  Might as well just start with a fresh install and accomplish the same thing.

  • Restoring an image from a local secondary partition. Zenworks 6.5

I'm trying to come up with an easy way to reimage machines without the
use of external hard drives or cds\dvds. In the k-12 setting all of our
hard drives are much bigger than needed. So... I have partitioned the
drive into two seperate partitions. One NTFS for Windows XP and one
FAT32 to hold the .zmg file. I can successfully image locally to the 2nd
partion, but when I go to restore the image back to the 1st partition, I
run into all kinds of trouble. Does anyone know the command line codes
that I should be using to do this?

  • Restoring .dmg image from external to Mac HD in Disk Utility: "Unable to scan image (Input/output error)"

    Hi guys,
So I've got a problem with restoring the image backup I did (using Disk Utility) of my 500GB HD on my MBP which was acting weird or maybe even crashed a few months ago. After creating the backup image and putting it on my external device, I installed Mavericks back to see if everything was alright (mainly the HD) and everything seems okay.
I did try restoring the backup image through disk utility before installing mavericks (thus erasing everything again on the HD) AND after. But nothing..
The whole process starts fine and then it starts scanning the image when after maybe a good 10-15min in I get a message that says that it was unable to scan the image. I tried verifying the disk(s), everything came out "OK". Also tried scanning it through Images > Scan image for Restore... with the same results.
While searching I've seen people getting messages like "Unable to scan filename.dmg (Invalid argument)" and "Unable to scan filename.dmg
(Internal error)" but none have (Input/output error)
    The screen grab is below.
I also came across something about using terminal/commands but I'm not that savvy with it, especially considering that those there had issues with either mounting or trouble finding the image.
I've also tried moving the backup image to a different external device 2TB and also the desktop because I read it may have to do with the format of the externals or maybe free space. But THEN I would get a message saying
"The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "Mac HD Backup.dmg" can't be read or written. Error code -36"
Fyi ALL my externals are HFS+/Journaled and the backup image format was compressed.
I REALLY don't know what to do next. Was it the wrong move to create a dmg image? Have I lost everything? Is there still a way out?
    If anyone can help, THANKS!
    2012 MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.9.3)

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider. You may have to leave the machine there for several days.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Restore single image from managed library

How does one restore a single image from a library, either managed or referenced. It seems that in Time Machine one does not have access to the individual files in a managed library as one does from the Finder.
Is my conclusion then, that in order to be able to recover individual file(s) one should use a referenced library?

The Aperture Restore from Vault as you know saves your current library and restores all managed photos from the Vault. Note, previews are not stored on the Vault so they need to be regenerated (at least that was true in Aperture 2 but I have not done a restore in Aperture 3).
Referenced images are not stored on the Aperture Library or Aperture Vault, just the adjustments you make to the image. So if your image is mangled, but you know the external referenced image displays fine, say, in Preview, then something may have gone wrong with the adjustments or raw conversion etc. You can remove all adjustments on the mangled image and see if that corrects the display problem.
If the external image itself is corrupted, then Time Machine will restore it hopefully to a prior 'good' version as you know. The contents of an Aperture Library can be individually referenced via the Finder but it's not something where you can replace any of the contents as I understand that will damage your library integrity.

  • Problem Restoring Windows Image

I am running ZenWorks 6.5 and manually imaging using the Zenworks 6.5 sp2
cd. I create an image and then sysprep it. When I try to restore the
image to another machine It always stops part way through on the same
file. It is a a file in c:\windows\winsxs\policies\. I tried going into
image explorer and removing all of the files in that directory out of
curiousity then it continues to fail on c:\windows\windsxs\manifests.
This is on Windows 2003 Server SP1. I know that imaging is not supported
on server technologies but we have been using it successfully for years.

It sounds as if you needed to run defrag and scandisk before creating the
image. If you cannot go back and recreate the image, then I would suggest
that you purge the image that you have created after deleting the problem
file in the zmg file. Then maybe you will be able to restore the image.
It should be able to image W2k3 without problems.

  • Help restore disk image from firewire drive to new serial ata drive

Heres my situation I inherited a mac mini without the installation cd. I also have an imac with the oem installation disk. I made a disk image of the mac mini (10.4.11) with disk utility on to an attached firewire disk. I've ordered a new drive for the mac mini and want to lay down the 10.4.1 disk image and then upgrade to snow leopard. I boot with my OEM Disk (10.5) and go into disk utility and select the image for restore. It reports running time of 2 hours and shows progress but when I come back the cd seems to be thrashing and no matter how long I leave it it doesn't restore. What are my options here is it possible to use the 10.5 startup disk to restore an image file made by 10.4.11

Hi bgagew, and a warm welcome to the forums!

    But...
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Tiger Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
Once DU is up chose the Restore option to restore/copy the Disk Image to the HD.

  • How to restore Windows 8 from a recovery USB on a tablet w/o physical keyboard?

I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad tablet that came with Windows 8 Pro:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/detail.page?DocID=PD026486
The first thing that I usually do is create a recovery disc. This time I was able to create a recovery USB drive. But then I thought of something -- how would I recover from it?
I asked at the Lenovo community site and people told me to connect a USB keyboard and press Fn + F12 during booting. The issue is that, first, I do not have a physical keyboard for it. Do I really need to pay $50+ just to boot from a USB drive? And
secondly, even if I got a physical keyboard this tablet has only one mini USB port so if I use it up to connect a USB keyboard, how would I connect the USB flash drive?
So can someone clarify this for me? Again, all I need to know is how to restore from a recovery USB drive.

    Hello Again Zubedi35!
Ok, I think I have it covered. First, you need a key to be able to proceed with the installation process. When you get a key, go online and download the windows 8 usb installer to be able to install a properly formatted
installation of windows 8 to your usb drive; make sure you use a windows 7 or windows 8 computer to format and install windows 8 to your usb- very important! Once you have windows 8 installed to your usb drive, all you need is the key and the installation
process on your pc will be a cinch. But before you get ready to do the installation of windows 8 to your desired computer, first you must do one thing- reformat your hard drive again. Since you said you have another computer (preferably a desktop), you may
place the hard drive from your laptop that you are trying to install windows 8 on and place that hard drive into the other computer- but you will need an external device to place the hard drive in to be able to reformat it if you don't have a desktop computer
with an extra bay (slot to put an extra hard drive into) to place the hard drive in and perform the reformatting. I would try to find someone with a desktop that has an extra bay to place that hard drive in and reformat it (it must be a computer with a windows
7 or 8 operating system on it so that you may be able to see the drive and perform the reformatting process. If you choose to do this, you must turn the desktop computer off and open the side of the computer then connect the hard drive to the sata connectors
of the open bay. Then, turn the computer back on and go to 'My Computer' (on windows 7 computer) or click the little folder (File Explorer) on the taskbar and look in 'Devices and Drives' and the hard drive should show up next to the main drive (Local
Disk C:). Formatting your hard drive is just like formatting your usb- just uses a different method of connecting. Try and purchase an external USB Disk Drive to install windows 8 to your pc from a CD if you choose not to go through this process of installation
by usb. I hope this helps and please notify me if you have any other questions or if you need help through the installation process- enjoy your Windows 8 computer!

  • How can I restore sliced image from web page?

    http://www.jimmyrea.com
This website was created several years back with Fireworks and Dreamweaver.  The client wants to have some changes done, but wants to keep it pretty much as it is and they don't have much of a budget to work with.  Is there any way that I could restore the FW image png file from the web page?  The original png was lost.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

This may seem like closing the barn door after the cows have gone, but it's very important to keep your native project files on an external drive or in a zipped folder on your remote server in case you ever need them again.
If you use Firefox.  Right click > Page Info > Media.  You will see a list of image files used on the page.  It may take some doing to reconstruct your Native Fireworks comp from these slices, though.  Depending on what needs to be changed, content vs cosmetic, you might be able to squeak by just editing a few slices.
I would probably want to ditch the MM image rollover menus in favor of an easier to maintain CSS styled list menu.   Too bad the client can't afford a site wide re-design.

  • Keyboard not working after restoring windows 7 from windows 10

Last Friday (7/31/15), I upgraded Windows 10 on my Sony laptop from Windows 7 Home Premiums. My Windows 7 worked fine before the upgrade. After upgrading to Windows 10, I had experienced issues with my Outlook mails (send/receive errors) and other apps (iTunes did not run, Google Chromes did not run, etc.) that I had under Windows 7. With Windows 10, I did not see my iPad or iPhone when trying to connect to my laptop, either.
With these issues/problems, I decided to restore back to Windows 7 (8/4/15). Windows 7 was restored on my laptop, and I am able to see my familiar screen, but my keys are frozen! I tried to navigate by clicking my mouse or hitting any key on my laptop, but nothing happens. I tried to reboot my laptop with different ways below, hoping to resolve the frozen keys but still did not work.
Turn off my laptop and open in "safe mode", "safe mode with network", "safe mode with command", and "start windows normally". (tried many times)Remove the laptop battery, let it sit for 1 - 5 minutes, put back the battery, and turn on the laptop. (tried many times)  Please help!!!!! I haven't been able to use my laptop since the upgrade to Windows 10 (July 31, 2015) and restore to Windows 7 (August 4, 2015).

Sounds like you've done everything right. Delete the prefs again, following the instructions here: Replace Your Preferences
If that doesn't work, take another look at what else is running and turn off stuff that you don't need to see if there's a conflict, and wait to see if Bob pops in.
As a last resort, uninstall again, then run the clean script befor you reinstall: Run the CS4 Clean Script
This was a clean install of Win 7, not an inplace upgrade over Vista, right? The upgrades are known to be iffy, so if that's what you did, think about doing a clean install instead.

  • Restore screen captures from Preview app

I have had to wipe my drive clean and re-install the OS. Before it was re-installed, I had quite a few Preview screen captures that I forgot to save to the drive. When I would quit the app, they would re-appear, so they were being retained somewhere. Is there any way to restore those images from my backup? I can't restore the app as the software won't allow it, and I can't open the backup in Time Machine. Is there any way to get those images back?  TIA,

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

  • Using Disk Utility to restore an image stored on the network

    Hello --
I have a disk image, Image.dmg. When I boot from the 10.4 installer DVD, Disk utility is able to restore this image from a firewire drive to an internal drive.
Image.dmg is also on a network share, hosted via AFP. When I boot from the 10.4 installer DVD, select "Restore," and specify that share as the source:
    afp://172.28.40.XX/Image_Share/Image.dmg
    I get this message:
"You must authenticate in order to restore."
I imagine that the server would like for me to log on before giving me access to the share. However, Disk Utility doesn't provide me with an authentication dialog.
    Any ideas?

Can't really tell if you are trying to restore an image from a locally attached firewire drive or (as from the original poster of the message) from a remotely shared location. If you are restoring from a remote share location then have you tried:
    afp://username:[email protected]/Image_Share/Image.dmg
Replacing username and password with the account information which has access to that remote share location.
    Good luck,

  • Recover deleted images from N73

    Hi all
Can any one guide me on how to restore deleted images from N73 phone memory. I just lost and do not hnow how they got deleted
    Please help
    many thanx in advance

If it's deleted from your PHONE memory, then you've pretty much lost it - without taking it to a specialist data recovery firm (who will then dismantle it and charge you money, after which time your warranty will probably also be void) there's no way to recover deleted data on your mobile.
If it was on your memory card then you might have some hope provided you haven't written over the space where the pictures were located.

  • Lost all my data when tried to restore windows from image backup. What to do now(for free)?

    Dear Friends,
My Server: HP DL380-G7, OS: Win Server2008 (original).
10 days ago when one of my web application is not working I tried to restore my file in old state. So I apply "Windows image backup" services. After completing the process I found that I can't boot. And later when I installed a new OS I discover
all my data from dives gone even from my attached USB hard drive.
HELP ME!!!!! Its my greatest mistake in my 7 years career.
    What to DO!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi,
Above all, whether the USB disk is also included in your system state backup? If so, the restore will also restore the USB disk back to the status when creating that backup.
As data is gone from the USB disk, please make sure there is no any new file wrote onto that disk. Then you can try some third party data recovery tool which could help get the files back. Generally such kind of applications are not free but you can still
search for any application with free version or trail version.
