Restoring ZCM server problems

Hi All,
I currently have 3 primary servers, all on SLES 11 SP1 x86, running 10.3.4
I'm looking to change to x64 so I can upgrade to 11.3, so I have built identical SLES servers on x64.
However, when running through the steps here:

Backing up seems to work fine, but restoring to the new server gives me this error:
Username:administrator
Password:*********
Enter File Decryption Passphrase :**************
Error:Failed to restore the configuration files. Ensure that the backed-up file and the passphrase specified are valid and correct. Also, ensure that you have the write permission to /etc/opt/novell/zenworks directory on Linux and <Installation directory>:\NovellZENworks\conf on Windows.
Error in restoring the backup: com.novell.zenworks.zman.exceptions.ZManException: Unknown file in backed up files
ERROR: 11
Any ideas? running as root, so permissions shouldn't be an issue.
I'd snapshotted everything, so have rolled back for the moment, but I'd like to try again so I can be in a position to upgrade.

If I was you then I would first upgrade your 10.3.4 zone to 11.2. After that I would migrate from 32bit to 64bit OS. Then I would update to ZEN11.2.4 and after that I would update from SLES11SP1 to SLES11SP2 and then to SLES11SP3. When that's done I would go to ZEN11.3.

Backed up files partially disappear after restore (Windows Server 2008 R2 - Windows Server Backup)

Dear all,
I am experiencing a problem with "Windows Server 2008 R2", using Windows Server Backup.
Here's my setup:
Server: RAID 5 Disk setup
Backup:
By using Windows Server Backup (within Windows Server 2008 R2), C: and D: were fully backed up, with "System State" and "Baremetal Recovery" options selected. Backup went okay without any errors.
Restore:
By using Windows Recovery Environment (booted from Windows Server DVD), C: and D: were fully restored to the original partitions with "System Recovery" option found within Windows RE (without re-formatting partitions during restore). Restore
went OK without any errors. Rebooted, and system has been running fine.
Problem:
After the restore, the system itself seems running OK; no BSOD, no crash, no visible errors.
However, our client insisted some files (around 6 to 7) which are related to the propriety software has "disappeared" right after System Recovery.
Question:
Since Windows Server Backup is using "Volume Shadow Copy" technology which enables "live backup" of the running system, is it possible that some files will disappear (=restore error) after
System Recovery?
I cannot really find any errors or warnings related to Windows Server Backup in the event log, through. No Windows-backup errors. No VSS errors, too.
Do anybody have experienced this kind of problem in the past? Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

To make things clear, let me explain to you briefly:
1. The "missing data" was backed up with "full system backup".
2. After a system restore from the above backup image, as you mentioned, partitions has been overwritten with the partions' backup data in the Backup Data Set taken by Windows Server Backup. No error with backup. No error after restore, and reboot - system
has been running fine.
3. Although there was a report that the affected files(about 7 java exectables) were missing after the above restore operation, other aspect of system was running fine at the time of the report.
4. I have checked the original backup data set - and voila, there ARE files which seems to gone after restore.
5. When I used Windows Server Backup "on" Windows Server 2008 R2 normal environment (= NOT Recovery environment from DVD) and selectd ONLY these affected files to restore, these files could be RESTORED successfully, without any errors. SO... data
was property backed up.

I understand, and this is not the case this time, because the affected files are already present in the backup data set (= I have mounted the backup data as VHD, and I could clearly see them present in the mounted VHD file)
Plus, these files are completely restoreable via "selective file restore" in Windows Server Backup.
Things I want to know/confirm:

If I understand this correctly, in case that the files in question are already present in the backup data set, these files SHOULD be restored after full system restore, right? (If these files could not be restored, Windows Server Backup SHOULD show some errors.)

Recover database to new server problem

Hi all,
I'm running a production 10.2.0.4 DB in archivelog mode on Solaris 10.8. I used RMAN with a recovery catalog to execute the stored script:
run{sql 'alter system archive log current';
backup incremental level 0
database archivelog all delete input;}
I copied the rman files and spfile to a test server with the same directory structres. No Problem.
Using "rman target /" I started the database in nomount and restored the controlfile from backup and mounted the database. No Problem.
Still within the RMAN session, I restored the 1TB worth of datafiles. The restore completed, no problem.
I then issued the command, "recover database;" PROBLEM, RMAN said datafile1 "System.dbf" needs more recovery to be in a consistent state.
WHY? I issued the commands, "alter system archive log current;" and "archivelog all delete input" in my script.
Why does it need the next archivelog to be consistent?
I was under the impression that all I need to recover a database with rman was the output files from RMAN.
I copied the next archivelog over and in SQLPLUS as SYS I issued the command, " recover database using backup controlfile until cancel;"
I canceled the recovery when it asked for the next archivelog and opened database reset logs.
If I didn't have access to the next archive log how would I solve this problem?

Your BACKUP should be executed as BACKUP DATABASE PLUS ARCHIVELOG. The "PLUS ARCHIVELOG" causes Oracle to issue an ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE at the end of the database backup so that the ArchiveLog generated gets picked up by the subsequent Backup of the ArchiveLog as well.
Your first RECOVER DATABASE command was attempting a Complete recovery. Had you specified an UNTIL clause, Oracle would know that you wanted an Incomplete recovery upto the last available archivelog. Your second RECOVER DATABASE with the UNTIL CANCEL was an Incomplete Recovery.

i had 2 database servers
'srv1', 'srv2'
in srv1 had 'db1' database
first create a user called 'db1usr1' with read and write previlages only(not dbowner)
then take backup of 'db1' as 'db1bakup'
then u hav to restore the 'db1bakup' in srv2 as 'db2'
then u have 2 login in the 'srv2' machine as 'db1usr1'
here is the problem : it is(db1usr1) not logged in srv2 machine through query analyser

You're asking about a sql server problem on an Oracle forum?
Don't you think a sql server forum would be a more appropriate place for your question?

How to fix "server problem" error message when trying to use PhoneGap build service.

I have a site that is now optimized for mobile devices and want to use the PhoneGap Build service in Dreamweaver CS6 to make a native app. Unfortunately, I keep getting the "We seem to be having server problems." error message when I try to create a new project. I did notice that the configuration file was created at the site root. I've seen a few other similar threads on this, but no solution. I've checked on any firewall issues (none) and know that the PhoneGap server is not down. The problem is on my end.

How to restore SQL Server 2008 database to SQL Server Express 2012.
I BACKED UP a SQL Server 2008 database from work, which runs the enterprise version of 2008, and I tried to RESTORE it to my new 64-Bit home PC which is running the new SQL Server Express 2012 64-Bit (Advanced Edition).
But if fails. I get the following message text.
Can anyone help me please. I thought restoring a 2008 database to the later version 2012 would be possible.

Are you sure your database is SQL server 2008 from error message it seems your SQL server version is 2000.I guess you have multiple versions of SQL server.
AFAIK you cannot restore backup of SQL server 2000 to 2012 directly .Restore it first to SQL 2008/2008R2 or 2005 then take backup again of new database created and then you would be able to restore it on 2012.Its kind of intermediate way
Also make sure your DB size is less than 10 G as max DB size supported by Express edition is 10 G and if your DB size is more than 10 G restore will fail.
You are also trying to restore enterprise DB backup on express edition so you will loose enterprise features on express edition

I have Photoshop CS2. I can't start the program anymore because of the already well known name server problem... (DEAR ADOBE!! HOW COULD YOU!!! )
Now, what can I do? As far as I know I purchased the software for an unlimited amount of time (thanks to the fact that there weren't any clouds, halleluja!)

Get 0x80780124 error when trying to restore Windows Server 2008 R2

We are trying to restore a HP Proliant ML350 G6 Windows 8 R2 Server but every time we do we get a message that states "The system image restore failed error details: Windows Backup failed to extend or mount the file system on the recovered volume.
(0x80780124)" We were trying the restore from the CD. Any ideas what would be causing the issues?

Firefox periodically drops my Verizon/Yahoo email site indicating it cannot find the server. Verizon alledges there are no server problems.

My email page will crash and the message received is:Firefox can't find the server at us.mc844.mail.yahoo.com. Repeated reloading does not help. After a period of time from 5 minutes to an hour the site can be accessed and is Ok for several days. The the problem reoccurs several times in the same day. When my email provider is contacted they indicate no server problems.

Note some have had trouble with missing intermediate certificates so get encryption errors. Shouldn't happen (except if you are missing the root certificate, which is your responsibility), but can be fixed by installing manually.
Some have reported needing to specify [email protected] rather than just userid, I believe on the SMTP side. Normally you specify only userid and password without the @verizon.net.

Mail Server Problem

The mail server problem has been resolved, mail is working as designed....yeah!!

silly discusting board, I've got 3 replies in my email but it's not showing here ...
anyway, this time I found after some chasing my tail .... that the mail preferences had wiped my password and I needed to reinstall it, then instruct it to go online and some other click stuff ....
and it seems to be ok now ....
but each round in past 2 weeks has been different "fix" .... or wait ....
sorry for anyone without master email for 5 days, that's just not right ....
I'm afraid that as apple starts "giving away" email accounts to build the cloud into something much bigger than the mobile me was .... that their folo up will fail and we will find ourselves not with the same apple durability / consistency but with the "hey it's free" attitude ....
