Restrict bandwidth for users in the house

This may sound like an obvious problem but since we had BT Infinity my lovely son has been spending more and more time on online gaming.. it seems some evening both my wife and I have to wait for pages to load and streaming football is a pain !
Is there a away of giving him bandwidth but sharing it out more evenly ?

hi no the home hub does not have such a feature with infinity you should have no real problems are you connection by wireless or wired

You need to use LiveCycle (PC Only) to create a dynamic form like that.
The best you can do with Acrobat to view all of the text in a field is to set the field to multiline, and set the size to "Auto" (If you don't set the size to 'Auto', you can enter as much text as you wish, but the user will need to use the scrollbar to view all of the text.)

There is a place when we can defined expire date for user in the system ,
something that similar to role that provided to user from 24/02/2010 - 25/02/2010 .
i search in su01 and not found anything .
any idea?

Restricting bandwidth for video calls on 9971 devices

Hi,
I've got a 9971 hanging of a relatively poor ADSL line and I need to restrict the bandwidth it uses when making a video. It works when it's configured to be in a location with high BW, but when I created a new Location and restricted the video BW to 400Kbps, I can't make video calls anymore. I then tried increments of 100Kbps until it began to work at 1000Kbps.
Am I missing something here? Can I set the video resolution for sending on 9971 devices.
Any pointers would be appreciated.

You should be setting the bandwidth parameter under REGION and not LOCATION. REGION will allow you to set the "Max Video Call Bit Rate" on a per call basis.
From the SRND document at https://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/srnd/7x/video.html#wp1046094, there is a very well written explanation on how the video bandwidth can be modified:
"The Video Bandwidth field accepts values in the range of 1 to 8128 kbps. However, to allow for compatibility with H.323 and H.320 videoconferencing devices, Cisco recommends that you always enter values for this field in increments of either 56 or 64 kbps. Therefore, valid values for this field include 112 kbps, 128 kbps, 224 kbps, 256 kbps, 336 kbps, 384 kbps, and so forth.
When the call speed requested by the endpoint exceeds the bandwidth value configured for the region, Unified CM automatically negotiates the call down to match the value allowed in the region setting. For instance, assume that an H.323 endpoint calls another H.323 endpoint at 768 kbps, but the region is set to allow a maximum of 384 kbps. The incoming H.225 setup request from the calling party would indicate that the call speed is 768 kbps, but Unified CM would change that value to 384 kbps in the outgoing H.225 setup message to the called party. Thus, the called endpoint would think that it was a 384-kbps call to begin with, and the call would be negotiated at that rate. The calling endpoint would show the requested bandwidth as 768 kbps, but the negotiated bandwidth would be 384 kbps.
However, if you set the Video Bandwidth to "None" in the region, Unified CM will either terminate the call (and send an H.225 Release Complete message back to the calling party) or will allow the call to pass as an audio-only call instead, depending on whether or not the called device has the Retry Video Call as Audio option enabled."
So to make a video call on a your poor ADSL line, you can update/create the Region to use a Video Bandwidth of 384kbps, the phone will be able to establish a Video call in VGA format at 15 fps, which is fairly good. At 625kbps, you are looking at 30fps. The change will affect any new calls and the configuration is not done on the handset and not just related to 9971 phones.

Limit bandwidth for users or S650

Is there a way to limit the bandwidth for all the users or the entire appliance.For example lets say you have a 9mb pipe however you dont want the appliance or all of the users combined to use say more than 6mb.Is this something that can be done now?If not is it a planned feature upgrade.

Currently, there is no way to do access based bandwidth throttling or system wide bandwidth throttling.
Both of these features are filed under theses enhancement requests:
35364: Bandwidth limit for authentication group or ip range
39720: Bandwidth throttling (QoS) to maintain a solid client experience

New restrictions imposed to users of the Digital Publishing Suite (professional edition)

We are a communication agency and we have just be informed by Adobe about the new "rules" imposed to users of the Digital Publishing Suite (professional edition). We are outraged by these practices: Adobe abuses of its leadership position on the market and hold us hostage.
We currently produce institutional magazines for one of our big clients. These magazines are produced in several languages and contain several thematic folios: therefore we manage several individual apps (multi and simple folios). We are planning to add more content and to develop new apps.
The new restrictions imposed to us by Adobe call into question our digital activity. If we follow the new rules, we now will have to buy 6 or more licenses instead of only 1 before. Given the fact that our corporate publications are not sold like commercial magazines, the rise in production cost is unacceptable. We can't forward the significantly higher fees to our client either who will quit the project for sure.
We have chosen the Adobe platform after a careful analysis of its functionalities and its production costs. We trusted Adobe and the DPS platform but the new rules invalidate our choices and overthrow the projects already developed with our client (needing continuous updates), the investments we have made so far in training and development and finally the profitability of the agency itself.
We therefore ask Adobe to come back on its decision and to apply responsible commercial practices with regard to agencies. We also ask Adobe to make sure that agencies that built their digital activities around Adobe tools can plan these activities correctly in the long run and obtain decent returns on their investments. We thus invite Adobe to reestablish the trust it is currently destroying.

Need help on making desktop application to web application having individual controls for users at the same time

I have an desktop application and the following are the functionalities of the same.
1. User inputs the data file with path (log file) to parse the required data.
2. Once the user enters the path and starts the tool with start button, the tool parse the required data in terms of records and gives the records (creates output file containing all the useful records).
3. Have popup window to display a group of data.
4. Have popup to Plot graph. When a button is pressed in main GUI, the popup is opened giving scroll bar menus to choose the data for the graph. User after selecting the data (multiple Y axis) press another button to plot the graph. The input to this popup is the output file generated by this tool.
5. The main GUI has buttons (play, step forward, step backward, reverse play, pause, stop, 1st record, last record - like tape recorder buttons) to play the records one by one.
This application is used by many people and since its a desktop application (created in labview 2009), the user every time has to manually install the newer version.
"So it is required to make the application into web based so that, the user can individually access the tool at the same time (different instances same as desktop app) and run their own data files from their system. The output files to be stored in the respective user's system."
Can this be done using Web Publishing or Web Services present in LabView?
I tried using Web Publishing but it gives control to only one user at a time and loading the files from the client path to run the tool is not possible.

Simple.
If all you are worried about are updates, just put the EXE on a shared network drive and have your users launch it from there.

Do open fonts work in Word for users without the font on their machine?

Our team creates documents in Word and we would like to use an Open Font (Adobe Jenson Pro)--there is quite a bit of internal file-sharing and I don't want the font to switch to something ugly when it is reviewed in Word (because Word users do not have this font installed by default). I know that there is some cross-compatibility. We would like to apply this font to the template and don't want to introduce a font issue. anyone with experience know how if this works with the Open Font in word documents for users without it installed?

Nope. OTF's are made by many different companies. Adobe DOES have many of them yes but they don't rule the market on them.

When the MacBook was new you needed to open the Mac App Store, sign into your iTunes/Mac App Store Apple ID, open the Purchases pane and click the Accept buttons. Those apps would then be available for you to download in the future on the Purchases pane.
Since you did not do that before and you have now upgraded the OS, I don't know a solution to your issue. Perhaps if you use Mt Lion Recovery and install Mt Lion again you can follow the directions for also recovering the iLife apps;

Test Links for Users OUTSIDE the Workflow

In our company we have a process where updates are requested, then someone makes the updates and then a test link is sent to the requestor so they can review and approve. This is all pre-UCM, we have been working in another CMS and are moving to UCM now. The question that has arisen is how can users that are NOT in the workflow or dont even have users accounts view the content on the server?
Basically when we send test links to the requestor they often send to their coworkers etc... for further review and from what we are being told about workflows is that ONLY the users IN the workflow can see the updates on the site in the browser.
Is there a "work a round" to this? How can we allow anyone to see updated content on our test site?
Could we create a Generic Guest account that has read to all content and is in all workflows? What have you experenced in your implementations and how have you resolved?

Restricted access for user in SU01

How can we give authorisation to a User to modify access (Create/Delete/Password Change/Role assign /Role Delete..etc) for other user IDs but that user should have only display access for his User ID.

I have worked with many clients, and the requirement of handling the user Administration and Role Administration is different from each client to other client.
Some client may ask for the same person should handle both User and Role ADministration, but some client may ask for separating the tasks.
In your case, if you want to restric the person to maintain the other users but not the own user id, this can be achieved by doing the following:
Create a separate user group who is doing the administration part and create other user groups for other users.
Create a role with SU01 and restrict the Standard objects with all user groups except the administation one and add S_USER_GRP authorization object manually into the same role and provide only 03 with the administration object.
The above will solve the problem of administration not able to update the own user id, but the other users.

Trying to disable Encryption for users through the Customization wizard

I am trying to create a transform through the Customization Wizard that will disable users from seeing or selecting Encryption when they have a PDF file open. I know that in the security-policy.acrodata file that if /SP_IsHidden [/b true] in the file then Encryption is hidden. My question, how do I do that for all users during or after a new install. And how would I modify existing users profiles to achive the same result?

Security Refresh for Users in the Group

Hi John,
I assigned an user with Analytic services admin privileges in the shared services. After the refresh security from shared services through EAS console, I clicked on security and clicked on users. I could able to see that user as an administrator(user type).
But when i assigned the same analytic services admin privileges at the group level, all the users in that group are
not showing as administrators in the EAS console after security refresh.(showing as user instead of administrator).
Can you explain why?

If you look at the group in EAS then it should be displayed as administrator, then all the users assigned to that group will take on the administrator privileges.
It will not show each user as as administrator just as a user that is the way it works.
