Restrict network settings

Is there any way to restrict changes to the network settings - e.g. the DNS address for a wifi connection? We are pretty careful about what we let our pre-teen kids screen (at least when they are in our house and on our network). We use opendns.org as a content filter, but that can be easily defeated as long someone has access to DNS settings can simply route away.
I've seen how parental controls work on the iPad, but there do not appear to be any controls on General configuation settings. Am I missing something? If not, is there some reason why General settings should not be under parental restrictions?

Please tell your daughter that "great minds think alike". I'm currently using OpenDNS as well. The problem is that this solution relies on fixing the DNS entry in each client to point to OpenDNS's DNS server. Unfortunately, my kids (and their friends) are bright, and will eventually figure out they can simply point away from OpenDNS to my IPs default DNS and bypass OpenDNS. This thread is meant to see whether parental controls can be used to prevent this on an iPad. I'd rest easier letting my kids use an iPad in their rooms if I knew they weren't going to be chatting away with pervos on <social network of your choice> while I think they're doing homework.

Hi Everyone, been struggling all day to restore my settings on my ipod, as my little brother has put a restriction password in place and made me not able to get into Safari, iTunes, Camera which I really need. I have tried everything, resetting my proxy settings, turning off the firewall, changing my network location, ran diagnostics. Everything seems fine on that, I post below my results. I also tried restoring from the device, but with the restrictions code in place I can not do so. And everytime I am dowloading the software update before the restore it comes up with 'Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later'. I have been using google for ages and am not sure what I have missed.
I am using Windows 7 with an Acer Notebook.

Did that and I tried again, download stops halfway through and comes up with same message I have already quoted. Wifi Signal is 5/5, network is working, just not letting me download via iTunes.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

I have had my ipod 4th generation for a year now and had not had any problems until now. My ipod no longer connects to my WiFi. i have reset my network settings, forgot my network and followed all of Apple's advice. Any ideas?

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

"Network settings have be changed by another application" stuck in loops

I have the exact problem as others with Network System Preferences saying that the settings have been changed by another application. The message goes into a loop that can only be stopped with a Force Quit of the Preferences. I also have the Airport not connecting at start-up without choosing the Network Name from the Airport Pull down menu. I also think it may have started with the last Security upgrade and Java upgrade. I have used the airport utility to reconfig the base station. I discovered a system keychain with a password for the airport that my normal passwords would not open to show what it's password was. I have done many disk permissions and verifications. Any ideas? I would think if this is a Security update error, that Apple would be aware of it by now and post a repair. I have followed some threads on this issue but would rather wait for an Apple fix. There appears to be no way to contact Apple in customer support.

Call your phone carrier - that's a problem for them to resolve.

Not that I'm a Verizon employee, but I have experience in the field. An LTE tower will only extend up to, on a perfect day, with no elevation, 6-7 miles. On a typical day, you will be lucky at four (4) miles. The three ZIP codes you've given are all within about a 12 mile radius. That would mean that 2-3 towers are currently down at the same time, and Verizon would know about it within the hour. Being it's Cleveland, I'm sure they would receive numerous calls regarding an outage of that size.
My point is that if you're having issues in all three ZIP codes, chances are it's a phone issue. If you're handset is simply not receiving LTE, but still receiving 3G, that would signify a SIM card issue. You need to get your SIM card replaced.

To restore a wifi connection I have to reset the network settings and restart the phone, this only fixes the issues for around 2-3 mins?
Other quick fixes like switching wifi on and off/ switching to airoplane mode for a few secconds have no impact.
This is really annoying as I am using my data allowence very quickly, and as the phone is continually searching for a wifi connection the battery time has reduced dramatically.
I just wondered if any one else has the same issue, and any suggestions as to how I can fix this.

the iphone never really picked up wi fi when it was used as a phone and it didnt really matter because he had unlimited internet but it still wont go on wi fi. does any one know why it is doing this?

i recently experienced difficulty in connecting to wifi on my iphone 4, i tryed a new wifi receiver in the phone but it still did not work. so i tried
to reset the network settings on the phone, and ever since i have done that the phone just crashes every 2/3 minutes and it wont charge....but says it is charging. i tried to do a hardware reset and also tried rebooting it through itunes, but due to it crashing it wouldnt work properly. the battery has now gone dead and the phone wont even turn on.....although when i plug the charger in the screen lights up and i see the apple icon.. but then nothing happens?? im completly confussed, does anyone have any ideas whats wrong with it????

It doesn't matter how competent you are or how many screens you've replaced.
There are NO legitimate sources for iPhone parts. Apple doesn't sell iPhone parts. The only possible sources are counterfeit parts, stolen parts, salvaged parts, or just plain cheap knockoffs.
Your forfeited your ability to get service or support from Apple the minute you opened the phone.
Obviously, something is broken. Find a competent 3rd party repair shop, ask your question someplace like ifixit.com, or buy a new phone.
You can't get advice here on how to fix it.

Why do I have to keep Resetting Network Settings

Hi All,
Hopefully someone can help. Every time I need to access emails when I'm out this iPhone fails me. Today, I tried to access an email from a client which consisted of 2 words "That's fine". The wheel thing spun round, and round, and round, and round.... 6 minutes later it displayed "this has not been downloaded from the server".
I tried in vain to re-load but nothing. The only thing that seems to work is to "reset network settings".
This then means that my wifi settings at home now need re-inputting, as do the wi-fi settings at 3 of my other workplaces.
If I could, I would swap this for a Samsung or something. It's a constant source of frustration and embarrassment ( when I'm with clients)
I've had the **** thing replaced at the Apple store and I have phoned my mobile supplier t-mobile/EE ( don't get me started on them...) about 20 times and no-one can make this problem go away. I hate this iPhone.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
