Restrict or disable file system export to force usage of CTS+

Is there any way to restrict or disable direct file system export in a portal environment (for example by authorizations or customizing) to force usage of CTS+?
Thanks in advance for any kind of input!
Cheers,
Andy

Hi Lokendra,
I know that already. Basically I need to know if it's somehow possible to limit the selection on CTS+ only when trying to export any kind of objects out of a Portal environment - meaning the option file export is not availbale at all. If not - is it somehow possible to distinguish between File Export and CTS+ by authorization (not file system authorizations)? As far as I've seen it, the authorizations for both functions are based on the same objects and need the same parameters at least for export. Doesn't seem like a way to solve this issue.
Cheers,
Andy

• File System Repository limitations

Hi everyone
I'm currently involved in a SAP Enterprise Portal project where we among other things are utilizing KM.
One of my customer's requirements are that we integrate an existing fileshare into KM. This fileshare is currently at ~200 GB and is still growing.
Since this is an existing fileshare we are planning on creating a file system repository manager for integrating it into KM.
To verify that this will actually work I have been trying to find any information regarding limitations of file system repositories in KM, but thus far without any luck. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could point me in the direction of such documentation.
Additionally it would be great if anyone could share their experiences with large file system repositories.
Thanks in advance
Best regards,
Svein Gunnar Standnes

Hello Svein,
Namespace Restrictions for Resource Names
· Maximum length of resource names:
FSDB: Restrictions of the file system are valid (Windows: 255 characters)
DBFS and DB: 448 characters
· Maximum length of path (URI without prefix):
FSDB: Restrictions of the file system are valid (Windows: 255 characters)
DBFS and DB: No restriction
· Permitted characters in resource names:

DBFS and DB: All Unicode characters, but restrictions may exist for some components of the repository framework.
Do not put a full stop/period at the end of the resource name.
Database Restrictions
There are the following restrictions for the databases used:
● Maximum number of resources (folders, documents) in a repository instance:
FSDB: No restriction (possibly limited by file system restrictions)
DBFS and DB: 2,147,483,648
● Maximum size of an individual resource:
FSDB: No restriction (possibly limited by file system restrictions
DBFS: 8 exabytes (MS SQL Server 2000), 2 GB (Oracle)
DB: 2 GB
Maximum length of large property values (string type): 2,147,583,647 bytes (2 GB).

Thanks I made sucessuly.
The final procedure:
1 create the disks in vertias (not the volumen)
2 if you add new disk, recreate the did
scdidadm -L
scdidadm -r (must exec in all nodes)
scgdevs (in all nodes)
3 Disable the resouces using scswitch -n -j (the resouce)
in my case we disable all resouce but NOT the resouce group. (only exec in one node)
Make the new file system. :-D. makefs. (in one node)
4 make the new pount mount in all nodes.
5 insert the new line in vfstab (remenber the mount at boot to set to no)
scrgadm -pvv | grep "FilesystemMounPoints="
6 You must put the "FilesystemMounPoints=" in same orden in vfstab
I use the sunplex (more easy) ..
Renable to online your resources.
Test to switch over to another node.
The new filesystem may be automaticaly mounted.

The database version is 10g and OS is linux. Can we use filesize parameter for the export. Please advice on this.FILESIZE will limit the size of a file in case you specify multiple dumpfiles. You could also could specify multiple dump directory (in different FS) when given multiple dumpfiles.
For instance :
dumpfile=dump_dir1:file1,dump_dir2:file2,dump_dir3:file3...Nicolas.

• Force-installing Xsan 1.4.2 File System Update on Leopard

If you didn't read the README and upgraded to Leopard prior to installing the Xsan 1.4.2 update, you're in a pickle. Xsan prior to 1.4.2 won't work on Leopard, and once you've upgraded to Leopard, you can't install the 1.4.2 update. Catch-22. Fixable, though.
NOTE: This is a hack. It may seriously screw up your system. Worst case, though, you'll have to reinstall Tiger anyway, so what the hey.
First, update all the other Xsan servers & clients to 1.4.2 and restart everything. Follow the upgrade instructions at:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305035
Now, on the Leopard-upgraded workstation(s) where Xsan no longer works, do the following:
1. Download the Xsan 1.4.2 File System Update:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/xsan142filesystemupdate.html
And, if you need the admin update:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/xsan142adminupdate.html
2. Mount the Xsan File System Update 1.4.2 disk image.
3. Right-click the XsanFilesystemUpdate.mpkg file and choose "Show Package Contents"
4. Browse to Contents:Installers, right-click the XsanFilesystem.pkg file, and choose "Show Package Contents"
5. In Contents, drag the Archive.pax.gz file to your desktop.
6. Open Terminal.app and type "sudo su -" at the prompt. Enter your password to authenticate the sudo session. You are now logged in as root, so don't do anything stupid, because you can completely hose your system. You have been warned.
7. Type the following commands, exactly as written. Note the spaces etc. (copy the text into a monospace font if you're not sure):
# cd /
# mv /Users/<your username/Desktop/Archive.pax.gz .
# gunzip Archive.pax.gz
# pax -rp e -f Archive.pax
# exit
8. Reboot.
9. Install the Xsan File System Update 1.4.2 from the disk image, as well as the admin update if you need it. Both should install successfully.
*What did you just do?* When you run the Xsan updater, it checks for various software versions, namely Mac OS X and Xsan. If it finds the wrong versions, it won't run the update. The above procedure "force-installs" the basic files from the 1.4.2 update--which are contained in the Archive.pax.gz archive--so that when you run the updater in Step 9, it finds an acceptable version of Xsan and proceeds with the installation.

Let me clarify the second line of the terminal commands in Step 7:
mv /Users/(your username)/Desktop/Archive.pax.gz .
Replace (your username) with your account's short name; e.g. if your account is "bubba" then it would read:
mv /Users/bubba/Desktop/Archive.pax.gz .
Or, "mv(space)/Users/bubba/Desktop/Archive.pax.gz(space)."

• What file system to use in exporting from cs3 HD

Hi just a quick thank you for the information that I have received from this forum. Being from a small community this service is well appreciated.
My question is that okay so now I want to export my project and I need to know if there is a file system I can save it to, to be able to bring it back into premier if I so choose. The work flow I use in Premier especially with 2hr plus projects, with all the layering, slo mo etc bogs the project down, when I edited sd I would export half as a movie, edited second half and render to movie and combined both files together to create the long movie. In hd I don't understand the file system I could use, I am shooting sony hd hvr z7u shooting 1080i. So what file system and should it be mpeg or h264. Does Premiere support a workable file system.
Thanks
Joan

If I were you, I would use MPEG-2. Match all the output options to that of your origional footage. I see that your camera shoots HDV, so set the bitrate to 25Mbps or higher. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

• How to export SSIS package to File system in SQL Server 2012

I am accessing SSIS package by connecting to a database engine. I wanted to export the SSIS to file system. How to get it done in sql server 2012? I tried Util utility , i got package not present. Let me know what other options are available to export to
file system?
Mano

Hi Mano,
After exporting the project stored in a SSISDB catalog to an .ispac file, we can modify the extension .ispac to .zip, then, we can extract the zip file to get the .dtsx package files. Besides, please note that if there are project level connection managers
or parameters, their definition cannot be exported to individual packages.

Ji Josue,
The KM content export can be done using ICE and WebDAV.
We normally transport the KM content and configurations.
The KM content will be transport using ICE and configuration can be transfered using WebDav.

• How to export repository to file system?

Hello,
within my bachelor thesis I am engaged in parsing ABAP Objects to calculate different code metrics. The analysis tool and many of the known parser-apis do require source-files at the file system layer.
As SAP stores everything in a DB, I wonder if there is a way to export the repository to the file system. And if this is not possible, is there another practicable way to access the source code?
Another point is: Does anyone know a source for a complete grammar (like ebnf or so) for ABAP Objects? that could make my life quite a lot easier...

Thanks for your advice! I've written this report:
START-OF-SELECTION.
DATA: source TYPE REF TO cl_oo_source,
source_tab TYPE seop_source_string,
classname TYPE seoclskey VALUE 'CL_OO_SOURCE'.
CREATE OBJECT source EXPORTING clskey = classname.
* Copy source->SOURCE table because gui_download( ) needs a changeable
* argument and source->source is read-only.
source_tab = source->source.
cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_download( EXPORTING filename =
'c:\source.ao' CHANGING data_tab = source_tab ).
But that approach has some serious drawbacks:
I have to save each class one by one (is there a way to automate that? P.e. find all classes in one package?)
I can not access the code of reports and such because cl_oo_source requires a classname.
Is there another way or an extension to this one, to solve those problems?
Thanks,
- clemens

• Package Exporting to File System

I am exporting the package to the file system from the production. When exporting the default is showing as 'Encrypt Sensitive data with user key'. Does this have any impact when I open it for development? Should I go with 'do not save sensitive data'
option?

I am exporting the packages from the production to the file system and providing to the developer
If you're giving it to others then whatever you do they wont be able to see sensitive information used by you insidepackage. In that case if you want them to open and run packages you should ask them to manually fill in those details like pointing to their
development server and databases, change variable values etc.
Another option is to create a configuration inside package storing all sensitive information and store it in a XML file (.dtsconfig extension). Then edit the file to change production values with corresponding development values ie development server, database
etc. Then sent them the file also along with package and tell them to put file in folder the package points to inside configuration settings. Then they would be able to open and run package with development environment settings without adding anything manually.

• Moving copy of project laptop to iMac. When I try to export my laptop project to either a thumbdrive or a SD card, the export fails and says 'file system of destination volume not supported'. How to fix?

When trying to move a project from Macbook Pro laptop to iMac, the program says, 'file system of the destination volume is not supported.'
This is true for both a thumb drive and a SD card. What is the fix? Thanks

Format them OS X Extended. Aperture libraries have to be on OS X Extended formatted volumes.
Use Disk Utility. Remember when you format a drive you erase all the data that is on it. So it there is anything you want on those copy it off first.
