Restrict search for books to certain language in "iBook"

When I search for new books, I find books in all languages. Is there a way to restrict my search to a certain language, say "french" or so?

If you don't type over the 'dummy' text, does it just appear blank?
It certainly will not be blank if you leave it there.  You have to at least click on it and hit the Delete key.
Templates with dummy text are only a couple pages long, after that you can insert blank pages

  • I can't search for books or authors on my iphone 6. It says no results found every time. Is there some setting I may have wrong? I have been using my kindle app instead.

I can't search for book or authors in ibooks.  When I search an author or book and click on it a message that says not results found comes up.  Even if I try to look up something popular like Dracula or Twilight.  Is there some setting I should have clicked?  It won't find or download any books at all anymore.  This started about a month ago.  I have been using my Kindle app instead.

    Hi laurieg23,
I see that you are having issues with your connection to the iBooks Store. Here is an article with some troubleshooting steps that will be relevant to your issue, even though the article was written for issues with the iTunes Store:
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update(iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.

Click the round flag icon bottom right corner of the App Store window. In the next window select United States.
For purchases, your credit or debit card credentials must be associated with the same country where you reside.
"Although you can browse the iTunes Store in any country without being signed in, you can only purchase content from the iTunes Store for your own country. This is enforced via the billing address associated with your credit card or other payment method that you use with the iTunes Store, rather than your actual geographic location."

  • How does searching for tags in different languages work?

I have a website in English an German (and eventually also in French and Italian) to which I would like to assign the tag Lawyer (English) / Anwalt (German). Therefore I have set up the tag in the UI as below and tagged the page manually to try if it works. Everything works well, but when I search for the tag I can only find the pages by typing in the tag name (here lawyer), but I would also like to find it by typing in Anwalt. Is there a possibility to make the tags searchable in all languages except for creating a new tag for each language?
How do I have to put it here etc/tags/marketing:lawyer? Do I have to translate the tags first in the UI? I assume, that if I put etc/tags/marketing:anwalt, a new tag is created.
    Thanks for your help!

What do you mean by "etc/tags/marketing:lawyer" - where do you put this? Such strings are not expected to work.
There are tag ids, which are based on the node names of the tag and which are not localized. In this case it would be "marketing:lawyer" or /etc/tags/marketing/lawyer (absolute paths work as well, albeit they are not written by the built-in tagging code). These would be used in the GQL search query in the normal search field in the content finder, using "tags:<tagid>", for example: "tags:marketing:interest/business"
Then there are titles, which you see in the tag labels when setting tags e.g. on a page, such as "Marketing : Lawyer", or "Marketing : Category / Subcategory" for nested tags. Titles are localizeable. If you have the suggestions enabled in the cf, you'd type e.g. "Lawyer" (user language set to English) or "Anwalt" (user language set to German), see a list of suggested items, select the tag (recognizable by icon) and the search field should be populated with "tags:marketing/lawyer" automatically.

  • Searching for books in the bookstore

Is it possible to configure the iBooks with some keywords on the apple book store?   Currently they do not show up in search results when some specific keyword searches are used.  Or would I have to make sure these keywords appear in the books description for the books to appear?

    K T wrote:
I said to 'focus' on those areas. If there was no consequence to what the descriptions say, there would be no point in having them.
Well, the OP was about keywords for search results and, as far as I can tell, the description has no influence on search in the store. It seems that only title, subtitle, and author are considered in a search.
If you feel the process is flawed, feel free to send feedback, etc.
Search is currently very limited in the store, compared to other distributors, such as Amazon. In fact, every time I use the store, I find that the experience is really clunky in comparison.
As well, look into Chomp - it's coming online in the store now.
It would be good if the store had smarter search technology. Right now, I don't believe it's being used for books.

  • I want to look for books in otter language

I want books in other language.

If the books are not copy protected (like the many free books at http://www.gutenberg.org), you just drag them into iTunes and can read them with the iBooks app.
If you bought the books in the Sony Reader store via their Ereader Library application, they will have copy protection.  You can use the BlueFire Reader App on the iPad to read them.  It's a free app on the app store (http://www.bluefirereader.com/ipad.html).
When you launch BlueFire Reader, you will authenticate the app with Adobe.  This will be the password you used to purchase the books (either from the Sony Reader store or via Adobe Digital Editons).
Instructions for moving the epubs from your library to the BlueFire reader are here (http://www.topicsites.com/ebooks-topics/bluefire-reader.htm).
If you are on a mac, the books should be in your Documents, My Books, Reader Library.
If your on a PC, it should be in C:\Users\yourusername\Documents\My Books\Reader Library

Are you asking if you should be able to browse for books from iTunes on your computer? If so, the answer is no. You can only access the iBooks bookstore through the iBooks app itself.

  • HT5557 How to release a book in different languages on iBooks

I would like to release a book in several languages like German, French, Japanese and English. So that each country can acces the book in their respective language.
How does one go about doing this. Do have to realease a different versions via iTunes connect and then make them availble only in the countries where they apply. Each time using a different ISBN number ? Thats the only way I see of doing this at the moment.
    Whats the best method.

  • Search for book in bookshelf or in digital library

Is there a way to search all the books in a bookshelf or digital library with Digital Editions? I'd like to be able to enter a keyword or phrase and have it display the books / pdfs that have hits.

Have you had any luck with this? I have six iMacs running 10.6.2 and a 10.5.8 server. Since the update my users have not been able to send mail or invite any of the groups that are in Workgroup Manager. I'd really like to get it fixed without buying Snow Leopard server.

  • How can I search for a substring of a email address or a subject

... without getting hits on other fields or content.
Mail 5.0 seems to have removed the ability to restrict your seach to particular fields.  What you get instead is the ability to select 'people' which should be called 'addresses' or 'subjects'.   There seems to be an assumption that the desired end point of a search is a single message.  But I regularly (several times a week) need to search for messages with certain characteristic and then move, copy or delete them.
This makes mail completely unusable for me.  Searching has always been a weak point in mail now it is *much* worse.  Any before you ask yes I have submitted feedback to Apple (I have bitched about the searching in every release since OSX released).   What I have suggested is that they have an "enable advanced search" in the preferences > advanced menu.
I can see where Apple is coming from but turning MacOS into a *purely* comsumer product aimed at the masses is not the way to go.  They don't need to abandon the professional market in order to get the masses.  Those of us who need advanced functionality are perfectly capable of digging into preference to enable it if we are given the ability.
I wholely support having a simple system that, out of the box, can be operated intuitively by anyone but that is not incompatible with allowing more sophisticated functionality which might confuse less exprienced users from being activated via preferences.
What I really want is much more complex searching that allow me to find (for example) all emails to a particular domain that mention 'xxxx' in the subject.
If this trend continues I can see me installing linux on my new MacBook pro for work stuff.

You can make some relatively advanced searches through Spotlight and in turn, the Mailbox search field in the Mail toolbar.
Try this for your example, type the following into the search bar in Mail:
To:domain.com then hit return. This will give you a search token on the To field.
Type subject:xxxx and hit return, this will give you a search token on the subject field

  • ITunes for Books, comment field to small for synopsis. Any solutions?

iTunes is still a very centric music app. now that it can hold books I was trying to add synopsis of the books I have (useful when you have several hundred or thousand)
The obvious choice "Comments" field is limited *in the interface* to 255 char which is very small for a book (in the plist file you can put text of the lenght you want but it won't show up in iTunes)
My second alternative would have been "Lyrics" since you can paste a lot of text there but there is no Lyrics tab for Books.
One year after iBooks and we don't have any meaningful way to add textual information to text-based entertainment such as books.
If you know any workaround I'd be grateful, otherwise I really hope Apple would slowly understand that iTunes is much more than tunes nowadays.
Books should have their own fields (such as ISBN) but at least a book summary is not that farfetched, is it?

Thank you, Terence. I guess I should have been more clear. I know all that.
But what about the options that allow a Mac OS Extended (Journaled) drive to be access via NAS/web?
I know pogoplug, for one, does this. But is anyone using it for iPhoto and is it reliable?
Here's where they at least claim their device supports Mac OS Extended (Journaled): http://download.pogoplug.com/support/faq.html

  • Is there a way to search for audiobooks or books in different languages?

Hi well my question is very simple. My native language is Spanish but I am a German citizen and I would like to read one or the other book in Spanish or listen to audiobooks in Spanish. But if I want to search for these products in my German iTunes-Store I will only get the newest German books or German audiobooks. Is there a way to search for an audio book or a book in Spanish or other languages? Thank you very much!!!

Exactly that -- the procedure is described in the online Help: InDesign Help | Text variables
Now every time you insert the variable named "# of potatoes", you'll see the text "50" appear (with a minimal rectangular marker to indicate it's a variable), and when you want another number of potatoes, all you have to do is adjust the text in the Variables dialog.
