Restrict to prevent changes to pdf form

Hi,
I have a form that I would like to modify so that other uses cannot add/edit fields in the form. Users need to be able to fill out the form, I just want to prevent them from changing the forms structure or content.
I have explored the security settings and none seem to accomplish what I want. See, I have seen forms that are restricted, but you are still able to click "Add/Edit Fields" to which it prompts the following error message:
"This document restricts some Acrobat features to allow for extended features in Adobe Reader. To create a copy of the document that is not restricted (and has no extended features in Adobe Reader), click Save a Copy."
Also, I do not want the form to state "(SECURED)" in the document title.
Looking at the form whose restriction I hope to replicate, if I go to Properties>Security, the Security Method is "No Security" but under the Document Restrictions Summary section, Changing the Document, Document Assembly, and Creation of Template Pages all are set to "Not Allowed * "
I have not been able to replicate this style of restriction and was hoping to get some guidance. Thanks for the help.

Please see the uploaded screenshots from the file that has the security settings that I wish to replicate. I would like to have it so my new form cannot be tampered with, only fiiled out.
This is the message that appears when "Forms > Add or Edit Fields..." is selected.
When I navigate to "File > Properties" I can see the document has these security settings.
Can anyone provide me with help to try and replicate these security settings???
Thank you.

  • Change the PDF form In HAP_DOCUMENT

    Hi Experts,
1)I have a requirement wherein i need to change the pdf form that is generated when we click on download button in hap_document bsp application. I need to use the custom PDF form in place of the actual PDF form. How can i acheive this?
    2) In the layout, i want to replace some part of the screen with an interactive adobe form how to acieve this?
    Thanks and Regards,
      Madhu.

This should not be handled by ABAP. If they were able to change it in the sales documents, they should be able to cancel the invoice in VF11 and create another one. That's the best practice.

  • Font changes in PDF form fields created in InDesign

I wasn't sure where to post this -- InDesign or Acrobat forum -- I created a lot of form fields in InDesign and when I exported to PDF, some of the form fields ended up using Times and some using Helvetica. When creating the fields in InDesign, I copied and pasted most of them to duplicate them and then changed their names, so it seems like they should all be using the same font.
I know how to later change the form field font in Acrobat, but it's not efficient to have to do that.
If anyone knows how to specify which font is used in an InDesign form field and make it stick in the resulting PDF, I hope you'll help me out.

Check if there is everything OK with the <ORACLE_HOME>\tools\Common90\uifont.ali file.
You can alias specific styles of font there. For example
    Courier.12... = Courier.14....
changes courier 12 to 14 in the report output.

  • "Done Signing" button issue on pdf forms.

I've been using this feature everytime I fill out a form. But now, it's grayed out. Done uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Reader. But still the same.
What's weird is, I checked the security properties of the pdf form using Adobe Acrobat to check if I accidentally set a restriction on that file, but I did not. No restriction being set on my pdf form. Try to check the screenshot.
    Please help me guys.

    Thanks for your reply George.
Well, I say that it is way more convenient to use the "Done Signing" button. I mean I love the feature because it makes my work easier and faster. Anyway, I have resolved it myself. It's back now.

  • How can I edit a PDF form?

how do you edit and change a pdf form?

    Hi Densbookkeeper,
To edit a PDF form, you need to use Acrobat. You can try it for free for 30 days if you'd like. See www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html for more information.

  • How do I restrict my pdf form to print legal only

I have a form (in Acrobat 9 Pro) that should only be printed on legal. I am unable to locate information. Have tried setting the Adobe PDF Document Properties (Page Size) to legal. Is there a way to limit to printing legal only?? Would appreciate any help on this topic. Thanks much.

Yes, tried that. But unfortunately that option doesn't allow me to restrict users to only print their forms on legal paper. But thank you for your help.

  • PDF form text fields' options change when opened in READER on a MAC.

I created a PDF form using Adobe X PRO. All fields are UNCHECKED for Property/Options/ "scroll long text". I save and distribute the form as a "reader extended pdf/enable additional features" so it can be saved and returned using READER.
When a Mac user opens the extended form in Adobe READER, ALL the text fields change to scroll. When he returns the completed form to me, every text field, even signature and date fields, are changed to scroll text.
What is happening in the transition from PC to MAC?

Preview is the default PDF viewer on the Mac. It should never be used with PDF forms. Just let them know that they should use Adobe Reader. Provide a link or URL where it can be downloaded and let them know that it's free.
There are things you can do so that it doesn't work in Preview, but it involves some scripting. If interested in this approach, post again.

  • How do I change the order of the fields in my pdf form?

I am using pdf. form I made in Acrobat and distributing with Adobe FormsCentral.  We use a table format for our teachers to fill out their field trip schedules and therefore use many different fields.
How can I change the order of the fields (not for tabbing, we figured that out)...so that when we receive our notification email, I can see the inforamtion in a specific order (Date, Time, School, Program, etc).
We would also like this same order to appear in the "View Responses" table.  I know you can drag and drop the order in the table but we have over 100 fields and that is going to take a really long time.
    Please help???

What do you mean by the "order they appear in the pdf structure"?  What is the "Pdf structure"?
thank you for your help... this is really upsetting, as I thought we finally found a solution with Adobe Forms : (
We really need the fields to report back in a specific order and wouldn't have time to rearrange over 100 fields with every form that is submitted. We receive about 10-20 different forms a day (same form layout, just some of the fields will have to be prefilled depending on school/teacher reservation... so we have to name each form a different name, for each school).
Thank you again and maybe one day they will change that.  Is there anyway to set it up in the web verison of Adobe FormsCentral to look similar to the table we have created?

  • How do you change the default return email when distributing a PDF form

    Hello everyone,
I am trying to distrube a pdf form as a customer survey to various client/contact emails.  As a test, I chose to distribute the form, filled in the form distribution information and I send the form to myself. However, when I filled it out and chose 'submit form' it prompted me with the return email address that I know is incorrect and want to change.
As the author of the form, I need to change the default return email address, but there is no option to do so when I choose to distribute the pdf form  or any new form that I create (only prompted me the very first time I chose to distribute a form).
Does anyone know how to change the return email address and information for form distribution?  Can someone please help me with this?
    Thank you very much!
    -Ryan

The email address that it uses it what is set in the Identity user preference: Edit > Preferences > Identity > Email Address
so change it there before you distribute.

  • Can I create a PDF form with a field for adding/changing Photos?

Does anyone have a solution to the following problem?
I would like to be able to make a PDF form that others in the office can use to fill in a particular inventory and model number.  (Fields, Easy)
Then have a field where they can replace the PHOTO of the item referred to by the inventory and model number.
Is this possible using Acrobat professional? Can the document then be saved as, or exported somehow from there?
I know this is probabably easy to do in Word, but can a photo be changed on a PDF and saved as?
Thanks for any help or suggestions!
    DaddyOfZed

It will make it possible for them to select a new photo. Will you ever want to extract the photo from the form to be used elsewhere?
In order to set this up in Acrobat, you can create a button to display the image, set its layout to something other than "Label only", and add the following JavaScript to the Mouse Up action:
// Prompt user to select an image
    event.target.buttonImportIcon();
For the PC users, Acrobat Standard is sufficient for this.

Filling up a pdf form which I received as email. I opened it on my adobe reader 11 and filled up the highlighted fields. Yet when I click on the send via mail it says changes will not be included. How do I send the form with changes?
The add annotations field shows as not allowed in the security options. So how do I send this form back with the changes??

I think you you need to click 'save' first, then it is saved to acrobat, where it will prompt to send.

  • Prevent Mac users from opening a PDF form in Preview

When I create an AcroForm, it does not behave the same when someone fills it out in Preview, and when I receive the completed form back from them, some of the information in the form fields is missing.
Is there a way to prevent Mac users from opening the form in Preview? Or to give them a message that the form needs to be filled out using Reader?

You can't stop them doing it (except by standing next to their computer with a heavy stick).
You could consider having a large field on the page warning that the file is not to be used (or whatever), which is hidden using Acrobat JavaScript.
Be aware that we are now dealing with a very large set of PDF readers.
Included with computers: Mac OS Preview, Windows Reader.
    Included with browsers: Chrome, Firefox.
    Included with portable devices.
Anyone who gets a computer these days in fact gets a PDF viewer which is bad with forms. You need to give them a compelling reason to download extra software. (Or, frankly, give up on PDF forms. I think their day has passed for a general audience who could fill in a browser form).

  • End user have ability to change font style in text field of interactive pdf form?

Does the end user of an interactive pdf form able to change the font style, i.e.: make something bold or underline a word in a text field?
I am making a form with text fields and the end user would like the ability to make something bold or underline it.. I do not see anywhere in acrobat that allows styles to be changed.
I have created the form in Indesign > saved it as an interactive pdf and brought it into Acrobat.

Thank you for the quick response! Do you set this in Indesign before exporting or do you set this in Acrobat? I am in Acrobat 10.1.10 and when I go to properties it doesn't give me  'options' to choose from.
