Restrict Visual Administrator Services

Hi,
Does anybody know how I can restrict the Visual Administrator's services that one user can see in the tool?

JDBC Connector service in visual administrator is not getting start or stopped.
I checked in Visual admiistrator ,then in JDBC Connector. On right click to JDBC Connector, Start or stop options are disabled.

On such datasources, for each one there is one .xml entry (the DS definition file)and below that, the datasource settings can be reached. If you mark the first one - the xml definition file - you get a blank screen right-hand, but at the same time, the "Stop" button (tooltip: "Stop Selected Standalone Application"; or the corresponding "Start" button, depending on the DS state) gets clickable.
This does not hold for the preconfigured default DS (which also has no xml entry).

JMS configuration in visual administrator

HI All,
I have deployed an ear file to J2EE stack of NW2004, that ear file consists of JMS topics, queues and destinations.
Any extra configuration need to be done in Visual Admin related to JMS.
I just deployed application without doing any JMS configuration in VA.
Please let me know the detailed procedure for this.

Follow the below procedure for creating a connection factory/queue/topic
Visual Administrator->Services->JMS Provider
Then create a connection factory and queue .
Get back in case of some issues.

NWA application service in Visual Administrator

Hi,
does anybody know what is the service to start/stop NWA application from Visual Administrator? for example, if I want to stop the usermanagment on J2EE engine the service is sap.com/com.sap.security.core.admin, similarly I would like to know the exact service for the NWA.
Any kind of help is grealy appreciated.

Please let us know the version of your system, as from NW 7.1 visual admin is replaced by NWA.
If its an earlier version please check with the CIM Client Generation settings. you can find this in Visual Administrator, choose Cluster> Server>Services > SLD Data Supplier>Runtime-->CIM Client Generation Settings

I don't see Web Services Security in Visual Administrator

Iu2019m setting up ADS and when I start the Visual Administrator and select the node Server <x> / Services / Web Services Security from the Cluster tab, I donu2019t see any web service and the tab runtime is completely in gray and it doesnu2019t show me any data.
It only show me, in the status bar, the message u201CGetting schema to java mapping for Web Service: AdobeDocumentServicesSec, style =u201D

Configure Memory Info service in Visual Administrator

Hello All,
I need to configure Memory Info service in Visual Administrator.
I am looking for a service/tool which will give me a summary of used/free and total memory in portal.
Ive read a little about Memory Info service and i think this will help me fulfill my requirement.
1. If you know of any other tool which will help me in my requirement, please give details.
2. Please guide me to configure Memory Info Service in Visual Admin. Currently its appears as its not configured. When I right click on it, the Start and Stop commands in the context menu are disabled.

1.Memory Info - The context menu for Start / Stop is greyed out.
How can I start this service?

Monitoring service in Visual Administrator

Hello all,
In my Netweaver 04 SP 24 portal system, I start Visual Administrator and go to Cluster --> Services --> Monitoring. Under tab Runtime and then Monitor Tree, I expand the Root node. Under it, nodes Applications and System are in white ( and all their sub-nodes read "No value has been reported yet"
Under node Kernel, Licensing Manager and Locking Manager are in White Status while all other nodes are active ( have green , red or yellow colour)
Same situation for some nodes under node Performance and node Services
Any idea how I can activate those monitors so that they actually report data?

From what I read in the link you sent to me, if the status is white and there are no values reported, then the monitors do not work, which is my case. How can I activate those monitors? I tried to right click and update or click on configuration and Edit and then Save, but nothing happened

Hi,
I think that your are mixing things up.
A client proxy in SE80 is in the Abap stack.
Visual Administrator is used to configure the Java stack.
Don't forget that the Netweaver application server is mostly a marketing myth.
In real life there are a Netweaver Abap application server and a Netweaver Java application server.
These 2 application servers are sticked together with some "software glue"...

Error in Starting Visual Administration - SSO Configuration

We have installed EP 7 SP 14 on Enterprise Linux 5.0
Initially, i.e. after installation, only the following login module stack was used under sap j2ee engine
BasicPasswordLoginModule - SUFFICIENT
To check the SSO with other nw 7 java system in our landscape, I have changed it to the following using Visual Administration
EvaluateTicketLoginModule - SUFFICIENT
BasicPasswordLoginModule - OPTIONAL
CreateTicketLoginModule - REQUISITE
I have restarted ep
Now, I am able to login to the system using Administrator login from the browser.
I checked the SSO. It was not working.
I tried to log in to Visual Administrator to make changes, its giving me the following error
Error while connecting
com.sap.engine.services.security.exceptions.BaseLoginException: Access Denied.
How do I proceed ?

Ping time out, server connection is lost in visual administrator after java

Dear all,
Recently I have done system copy for XI system. I have imported the java import after importing the abap stack into the target system as java add in abap.The import phase finished successfully and java engine is also working well.
I have confirmed this by moving to the browser page " http://hostname:50000/ and XI system http://hostname:50000/rep ". Everything is working fine and in MMC console as well.
But while trying to log in to visual administrator i am getting the error message as " ping time out,connection to server is lost "

Hi,
Try logging on the ABAP stack withthe J2EE_ADMIN and changing the password there.
Or you can update the password in the secure store area (admin/password<SID>)of the configtool.bat.
Try this very simple procedure and also try to check the below things also but try the first option.
Please follow steps one by one. it should resolve your issue.
Reasons for this issue; plz check it one by one.
1. Did you configure with ABAP? if yes, plz do below steps:
Plz assign SAP_J2EE_ADMIN role to J2EE_ADMIN user.
2. VA login dialog; Please check Port(5xx04) is right?
3. Admin password is wrong or lockecd.
If yes, Activate SAP* then reset or unlock it. For this jus follow below steps:
If you forgot or lock "Administrator or J2EE_ADMIN" password just follow below steps:
STEP-1: Enable "SAP*"
1.Start the Config Tool C:\usr\sap\<SID>\<engine-instance>\j2ee\configtool\configtool.bat
Ex: D:\usr\sap\F02\JC00\j2ee\configtool --> configtool.bat
2.Goto cluster-data --> Global server configuration --> services --> com.sap.security.core.ume.service
3.Double-click on the property "ume.superadmin.activated = TRUE"
4.Double-click on the property "ume.superadmin.password=<Enter any password ex: abc123>"
5.Save.
6.Restart the engine.
STEP-2: Login with "SAP*" into portal
1. http://<host>:<Port>/useradmin/index.jsp
2. Enter userid / password as" SAP* / <password ex: abc123>"
3. Search for "Administrator" user
4. Reset or change password for "Administrtor"
STEP-3: Disable "SAP*"
1.Start the Config Tool C:\usr\sap\<SID>\<engine-instance>\j2ee\configtool\configtool.bat
Ex: D:\usr\sap\F02\JC00\j2ee\configtool --> configtool.bat
2.Goto cluster-data --> Global server configuration --> services --> com.sap.security.core.ume.service
3.Double-click on the property "ume.superadmin.activated = FALSE"
4.Save.
5. Restart the engine.
STEP-4: Login with "Administrator"
1. http://<host>:<Port>/useradmin/index.jsp
2. Enter userid / Password as "Administrator / <password>
3. it will ask change password just change it.

Solved on my own.

Error in security provider logon stack: no logon to visual administrator

Probably i made a mistake in configuring SAP-J2EE-Engine security provider login modules.
Now i cannot logon to Visual Administrator, it tells me
"Error while connecting
com.sap.engine.services.security.exceptions.BaseLoginException: Access Denied."
Is there a way to reset login module stack from configtool or in some config file?

Hi
you can configure your login stack configuration using config tool. Config tool works locally against the server's database, thus no authentication is required.
1. Be sure that your server is not running! (shutdown SAP J2EE processes)
2. Launch config tool ("use default db settings").
3. switch to configuration editor mode (the most-right icon in the icon toolbar)
4. navigate to security-->configurations
Here you find your logon stacks and the login modules contained within them. Click on the "pencil" icon for changing your current configuration.
