Restricted users don't rejoin AirPort out of sleep
Since I set up my new Mac, I've had a problem with Airport and security settings. If I come out of sleep if logged on as an admin user, the Mac joins my Airport network. If I come out as a restricted user (a kid), it asks for an admin user and password.
The Network is set to "By default, join Preferred Networks" and I have only one preferred network. The network is there. There's no WEP or WPA or other password required. (I use MAC address filtering). It happens whether or not the Options are set to "Require administrator password to [ ] Change wireless networks."
This has been a problem since the first time I setup the users. The article below claims it's a problem with old releases but I have the latest release.
I've been a Mac users for 20 years and an OS X user for 3. Any ideas?

Mac OS X 10.4: AirPort may not rejoin network on wake or restart
Symptom
Some computers, after upgrading to Mac OS X Tiger 10.4, may no longer automatically join a wireless network after waking from sleep or restarting.
iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.8)
On the screen where you are being asked for the password, click the triangle by Details and note down what the requested right is. From here, use an application such as TextWrangler to open the /private/etc/authorization file, search for instances of that right, and if possible, modify the file so that non-admin users have that specific right. If you're not sure what to do, post back with the requested right for instructions. General information about the setup is available in another thread.

Restrict user to see the contents of a transparent table
Hi fnds,
i want to restrict users in seeing the contents of a database table..
ithat is, when they go to se16 and hit enter.. and try to execute F8 button.. it should not show any records and no access should be available to that user...
Can this be possible with auth object - whoever is authorizeed they only shoud see the contents..
how to do this.. this table doenst not have table maintanence -- no SM30 data maintancne..
help me,
thanks
NirajaThis is part of the table definition in the data dictionary (not sure with what release that was introduced, but if you're not on an old system you should probably have it). I.e. in the data dictionary (SE11) on the Delivery and Maintenance tab for the table you have a field Data Browser/Table View Main., which you should set to N Display/Maintenance not allowed. If you check the F1 help on the field you'll get a nice long explanation.
If you don't have this option (on an old release) check out OSS note [26909 - SE16 - Security|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/26909], which explains your other option via authorization object S_TABU_DIS (access control might be a bit too coarse). See also OSS note [546797 - FAQ Data Browser (SE16)|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/546797].

Restricting User from creating new records using when-validate-record
Hi,
I have a requirement for which I have to restrict he user from creating a record in the Supplier Master form if the suppliier type is 'Affiliate Supplier'.
I have done the following setups
Seq 10
Description Restricting user from creating Affiliate records
Level Function
Enabled Yes
Condition:
Trigger Event WHEN-VALIDATE-RECORD
Trigger object VNDR
Condition "${item.VNDR.VENDOR_TYPE_DISP_MIR.value} is NOT NULL
and
${item.VNDR.VENDOR_TYPE_DISP_MIR.value} LIKE 'Affiliate%'
Processing Mode BOTH
Context
Level User
Value User Name
Action Sequence 1
Type Message
Action Description Saving Affiliate record
Language ALL
Message Type Show
Message Text You Cannot Create Affiliate records Here
Action Sequence 2
Type Builtin
Action Description Stop Proceesing
Language ALL
Action Enabled Yes
Builtin Type RAISE FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE;
This is working good on one instance but when I moved it to another instance
when I query the form and try to navigate to the bank accounts tab of the form which is based on a differnt block i.e VNDR_USES block, the when-validate-record trigger fires there also and stops the processing.
Any suggestions on this would be higly appriciated.
Thanks in Advance.Hi Srini,
Yes, it does work...but in a Form Session if i Create more then one Item, in some cases it fires for the first records and not sleeps for the second.
Sometimes it doesn't give any response.
Appreciated if you divert to the link to check the Pacthes for 11.5.10 on Form Personalization.
Please share any ideas/example if yiou have to achieve the below requirement.
Requirement:
Once New record is created , a Custom Procedure should be invoked.
with out closing Form i am able to create n number of Items, so for every Item it should invoke Custom PLSQL Code on Save.
Let me know if i can achieve the same in Custom.pll .....as i can use either of Options.(Form Personalization/Custom.pll)
Thanks & regards,

Restrict User not to enter more than 4 character number in UITextField.
Hi i want to restrict user not to enter number which is 4 character long and not to enter a number after 4 decimal points.
can ne1 help me on this??funmania wrote:
To show alert view, one must use IBAction, but i am dealing with many text field and 1 button, how can i show alert views for all UITextFields?
create an IBAction called finishedEditingTextField:(id)sender. In that method, check the sender against the text fields. For example,
- (IBAction)finishedEditingTextField:(id)sender {
if (sender == textField1) {
if (textField1.text = @"String 1") {
UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"String 1" message:@"You typed String 1 into the first text field" delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:@"Ok" otherButtonTitles:nil];
[alert show];
[alert release];
if (textField1.text = @"String 2") {
UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"String 2" message:@"You typed String 2 into the first text field" delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:@"Ok" otherButtonTitles:nil];
[alert show];
[alert release];
if (sender == textField2) {
// Some more code
Hook up this method to each text field's didEndEditing (or something similar), or the button's Touch Up Inside event.
BTW, you don't need an IBAction to show an alert; you just need to alloc/init it, show it, then release it. You can do this "inline," in any part of your code.

A PC user's questions about Airport Extreme & Airport Express
Hi all,
I have a few questions regarding both the Airport Extreme AC and the Airport Express.
I am a PC user who is currently looking at replacing my Cisco Linksys EA4500(primary router) and my Linksys E2500(bridge router) due to the lack of regular firmware updates that Linksys fails to provide for their routers and the fact that I simply find Linksys products to be buggy.. Based on my research, Apple's Airport Extreme N and the AC versions have received excellent reviews on Amazon and I am considering purchasing both the Airport Extreme AC(to replace my Linksys EA4500) and the Airport Express(to replace my Linksys E2500).
Before I get to my questions, let me be frank in saying that I do not have a Mac(but intend to after my desktop dies) at this time but in my house we have two iPhone 4s's and one iPad 2 as far as Apple products are concerned. My computer network consists of my HP Windows 7 based desktop and HP Windows 7 laptop and I have a home ethernet in every room in the house . In addition, my den's ethernet connection is connected as Ethernet wall jack in which the connections include---->Ethernet switch------>Tivo---->Playstation 3/Xbox 360/Nintendo Wii/----->Samsung Smart TV---->Linksys E2500.
My questions are as follows:
1. Initial/Out of the box set up: Based on what I have read here, it is possible for a PC user to setup the Airport Extreme by downloading the Airport Extreme utility software from Apple. However I have been confused based on what I have read on Amazon in that some users report that the initial setup can only be done using a Mac. Would someone from this forum kindly clairify this for me? Can I set up the Airport Extreme with my network assuming that I have previously downloaded an installed Apple's Airport Extreme Utility for the PC?
2. Using the Airport Express as a wireless bridge: Currently my Linksys E2500 serves as my secondary router in my den in bridge mode. Can I set up an Airport Express as a wireless bridge assuming I was sucessfully in setting up my Airport Extreme? On Linksys products this is done by setting the router in bridge mode and assigning it a specific IP address within the bridge router's settings. So for example, my Linksys E2500 has a 192.168.1.1X IP address, can I do this with the Airport Extreme? Note the the intention here for the extra router in my den to provide additional wireless coverage due to the size of my home. I do not need it to provide me with the same wireless network name as my primary router, I only want to provide the back of my house with additional wireless coverage that a primary router will not provide.
3. Router Security and reliability: I would like the router that I purchase to include regular firmware updates beyond that of one year. Especially now that most modern routers have some sort of cloud set up, I wouldn't want to purchase a router today, only to find out that I wouldn't be able to update its firmware one year from now. With respect to Apple's routers, how often does Apple release firmware and typically speaking; how long will Apple support additional firmware releases for its products?
Thanks to anyone who reads and responds to my long post!The one problem is Apple using their own automatic port opening system.. NAT-PMP which is fine for apple clients but will not work with almost anything else made which depends on UPNP ..
There are lots of hassles with PS3 and XBox live and anything that depends on standard automatic port opening for interactive internet connection.
Manually opening ports is possible but a pain.
eg
AirPort Extreme and xbox 360

I do agree with John Galt that the Apple products are well made and generally great.. they did have a bad capacitor failure issue in the Gen1 and Gen2 TC which he may have forgotten about.. I have repaired about 200 of the bludgers. And there was a dedicated site to pressure apple to fix them.. with 2500 recorded dead TC.
See http://timecapsuledead.org/
See
https://sites.google.com/site/lapastenague/a-deconstruction-of-routers-and-modem s/apple-time-capsule-repair
And some ongoing issues.. even post getting that fixed up.
https://sites.google.com/site/lapastenague/a-deconstruction-of-routers-and-modem s/apple-time-capsule-repair/new-issue-with-a1355-gen-3-tc
But the AEBS had external power supply so didn't add to the heat of built in HDD and power supply in a case too small without cooling. New ones seem to have learnt the lessons of the past in that the power supply is internal but they use a fan system to keep it cool.
See http://www.ifixit.com/Device/Apple_Time_Capsule for internal construction.. TC and AEBS are now identical except for the hard disk.
An option worth considering is using a router with third party source firmware.
You are then never cut off from great updated firmware.. and you can do amazingly more with the fuller setup that includes Telnet cli and extensive interface on the GUI.
Eg Gargoyle on a Netgear WNDR3800 or even cheaper TP-Link WDR3600 or WDR4300.
These offer full QoS, not in Apple products.
Full throttling controls, not in Apple products.
Quota, not in any other products in domestic market at all.
NAT-PMP and UPNP, not in Apple products.
VPN, not in Apple products.
Multiple VLAN, Multiple IP addressing, not in Apple producs.
SMTP, which Apple removed from all their new products.. no reason why.
Log access, which Apple removed from the new airport utility.. no reason why.
etc.
If for some reason that firmware doesn't suit.. you can flash over to DD-WRT, or OPENWRT.. etc. in other words you are never again beholden to the manufacturer who after the product is EOL is also end of support. -
DUN Bluetooth connection to PocketPC, Vista and restricted user rights
Hallo,
I've successfully established a DUN connection to my Pocket WM5-based QTEK 9100 smartphone via Bluetooth and the Toshiba Stack, latest version. My notebook is a X200-21D with Vista Home Premium.
Everything works well as far as I don't change the Vista user to an user with restricted rights, for the user with Administrator rights the Bluetooth Utility created a new DUN connection and a new modem with a virtual COM port. The user with the restricted rights isn't allowed to setup a new connection but this is necessary to connect to the smartphone with the Bluetooth Utility. On the administrative account the radio button to allow the connection to be dialed from other users is disabled and greyed out, so there is now way to open it for other users.
How can I setup an Bluetooth DUN connection for a user with restricted rights ?
Thank you in advance !Should the Restricted user use the same DUN configuration like the Admin ?
If so, then you can use "Bluetooth Settings-> Custom Mode". This allows you to
select the "33600 Standard Modem" from the list which was configured before by
the Admin. So every DUN which was configured by the Admin can be used by the
Restricted user with this method. Restricted users can not install hardware, so
if the Admin has not installed a modem, then also the Restricted user can not use it.
The Admin can pre-install a modem with the Bluetooth stack installation.
This is useful if the restricted user should be able to configure a DUN connections
with advanced modem settings which are not used by the Admin.
This should be possible if the "as.ini" file has a line "MODEMINST = 1" -
Solution: WinXP Restricted users connecting to Oracle
For a while we've been having the problem that with a default install of the Oracle Client (in our case 9.2 - Not sure if the problem exists with earlier versions), restricted users on WinXP (possibly 2K too, I've not been able to test it) cannot connect to any server because they cannot see the oracle client files. For some reason, the oracle client install sets strange permissions that mean only administrators can access the client files. Worse still, any attempt to reset the permissions on the ORACLE_HOME directory and propagate them down all the sub directories always fails with Permission Denied (even for admins?!?!?!). Even attempting to take ownership fails.
Anyway, we've found a solution:
Logged in as an admin, we copied the c:\oracle\Ora92 directory from a fresh install of the oracle client on WinXP to a machine with Fat32 (Win98) - Thereby removing all permissions from the files. We then renamed the old Oracle directory on the WinXP PC, created a new one and copied back the Ora92 directory from the Win98 PC - This resulted in the c:\Oracle directory and all sub directories having default permissions, specifically Read and Execute to all users and Full to admins. We also reset the permission on all sub-directories of c:\program files\oracle to those of c:\program files\oracle ( Using the "Reset permission on all child objects and enable propagation of inheritable permissions" check box in windows advanced security ).
The end result is that restricted users can now access the necessary oracle client files, but don't have permission to alter them (which prevents them changing any connection parameters).
The problem still remains that the installer creates strange permissions on files in the Oracle Home directory, but at least there is a workaround until Oracle sorts out the installer.
Anyone think of a better way to get the same result?if you set the restricted users into the power users group you may be asking for other troubles as these users will then have update permissions to most files on the system, including those files in the winnt folder.
it is not clear to me whether you are unable to set the file permissions to read/write access, or whether you are able to do so but that after you do so the users still get errors launching the client. it sounds like the solution to your problem may have been setting the read/write access in the \program files\oracle folder.
you should make sure you install oracle when you are logged in as administrator. note that this is different than doing the install while logged in as user "X", where "X" is a member of the administrator group.
if after doing the install as administrator you still have problems, i would recommend that you turn on auditing, reboot the system, launch the client as a restricted user, and then review the event log to see what file(s) are being denied access.
to set up auditing, go to start->programs->administrative tools->local security policy. select local policies, then audit policies. set "audit object access" to failure. then go to my computer, right click on C:, select properties, then the security tab. click on the advanced button, then the auditing tab. select the "everyone" group, then click ok. in the next window, check all boxes in the "failed" column. click ok.
don't forget to reverse the process and turn off auditing once you have found the problem files and set the necessary permissions. -
I've been subsribed to bug #723487 (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=723487) for a year and a half, and I identified a problem in the way mozilla's site delivers the linux version of firefox almost a year and a half ago, but for reasons unknown to me, no one bothered to address this problem.
Other, properly built web sites that deliver binary software packages for linux, can successfully recognise if the user downloading firefox is using a 32bit or 64bit Linux distribution, and offer the appropriate version. Try www.libreoffice.org if you think that my claims are false.
But this somehow doesn't work with mozillas website, the website recognizes that the user's operating system is Linux, but doesn't try to figure out if it's a 32bit or 64bit linux, so the users end up with 32bit builds of firefox by default, which then don't work on their 64bit sytems.
The problem is even more intensified due to the rather stupid naming convention used by mozilla - both the 32 and the 64 bit versions are simply named identicaly - for instance firefox-29.0b6.tar.bz2 for the 29 beta 6 version. Other sane software producers (libreoffice, nvidia, qt-project) names their binary packages with different names (eg. the "x86" string is used for the 32bit version, "x64" for the 64bit version) so that the users don't end up trying to use (unsucsesfully; getting a cryptic error message) the wrong version. But in mozilla's case we end up with a lot of confused users filing bug reports, like the bug I mentioned above.
So to rephrase my question - is someone willing to do something about this (the QA Mentor who commented in bug #723487 has so far proven to be completely useless)?The 64-bit Linux builds have been listed on the http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ page since Firefox 27.0 or 26.0 I believe.
This link is listed under the green download button with the words of [http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ Systems & Languages] -
How can we restrict users from changing the data in HFM.
Hi All,
We have requirement from users where, They don't want the base data being loaded from SAP to HFM via FDM through ERPi to get changed in HFM at <Entity Currency>. They want data to be read only and no body should be able to change neither Grid nor Forms and neither Smart View. If we restrict by Shared services access then again they can't change ownership management value.
Regards,
SushilHi Thanos, Thanks for your reply.
Yes i am aware of the security class, so your suggestion is to use security classes to restrict users? And how can i use the phased submission for the same? I am new to HFM so please bear with me.
I have one more question that my Application is HFM EPMA application. So is it necessary to have Application Administrator to change hierarchy and Deploy the Application from EPMA?
Thanks,
Sushil -
How to Restrict User to View but Not Print a Document
Dear All,
I'm actually wonder is there a way where SAP can restrict users for instance they are able to view the PO, but unable to print it out. Is there a function or a query for such restriction? Please advise.
Thanks,

How do I prevent other Mac users from changing my Airport Extreme Network Name and Password within the Airport Utility? My company is using an Airport Extreme in our office now and I want to prevent other employees from messing with the network/settings. Is there a way to place a password on the settings to allow only the admin to access the network name and password?
Hi - you have will have to change the device passwords on all the base stations and then don't give them to anyone except the administrators and tell them not to save them on their computers that use the older versions of the Airport Utility - for the newer versions like the mobile apps, as soon as you enter the pasword it is saved and is visible in the advanced pane along with the network password - so if anyone gets a hold of your iPad or iPhone, they can edit the whole network - I have this same issue with my networks in the office and it is inconvenient but doable - I hope this helps

How to restrict users from printing documents and exporting to local file
Hi SAP gurus,
I have two questions.
1. How can I restrict users from printing a document? i.e. billdoc? I would like to know if I could block it though authorization. If yes, what auth obj to use?
2. How to restrict certain users from exporting to local file? the System> List>Save-->Local File. I have tried restricting it using auth object S_GUI but it seems it is only applicable to older versions of SAP. im on ecc6.
Thank you in advance.Hi,
Check this:
Create your own gui status and attach it to the list in the event START-OF-SELECTION.
In the menu painter extra -> adjust template.
Make it a list status and you will see all the standard list options appear including list->download
Deactivate the ones you don't want.
If you just want to prevent users from downloading the list you can achieve this with authorization object S_GUI, activity 61. Menu option will still be there though.
Please note that if you remove authorisation for S_GUI activity 61 then all downloads will not be possible.
If you just want to disable downloads only for a particular report, you can try this test program:
Code:
REPORT ztest.
DATA: PROGNAME LIKE SY-CPROG value 'Z_CHECK_AUTH',
FORMNAME LIKE SY-XFORM value 'F_CHECK_AUTH'.
START-OF-SELECTION.
CALL FUNCTION 'SET_DOWNLOAD_AUTHORITY'
EXPORTING
FORM = FORMNAME
PROG = PROGNAME
EXCEPTIONS
OTHERS = 1.
WRITE: / 'TEST'.
You also need this:
Code:
PROGRAM z_check_auth.
FORM f_check_auth USING pe_result TYPE i.
pe_result = 5.
ENDFORM.
Also have a look at the exit SGRPDL00.
Hope this helps you.

How to restrict user to process own company code data in z program
Hi All,
I have this issue. in asset management I would like to restrict user to process its own company data.
for example A who works in company 0123 only can process comp code 0123 data whereas X who is manager can process all company code data.
In the abap program, how can i achive this? by authority object? if yes what asset management authority object to use?
i have company code in selection screen. so may i know what method i can achive so that A can only execute co 0123 whereas X can do for all company code.
thanksHi,
One way would be:
For all persons for whom you would like to 'control' the access to a specific company, SU01-->Parameters--->Give some parameter ID say XXX, & in PArameter Value key in the compnay code whose data it can process.
Please note that this is only one time process which has to be carried out for all the users. Then in your z-program in SELECTIO-SCREEN OUTPUT use GET PARAMETER ID 'XXX" Field w_value. If GET PARAMETER ID returns su-subrc = 0 then move w_value to your company code on the selection screen. Then Use LOOP AT SCREEN & make SCREEN-INPUT = '0' for company code so that company code will be displayed but protected thus not allowing the user to change the company code.
I hope this helps,
Regards
