Restricting 0CALMONTH with variable 0RSTTCM1

Hi,
I´m facing a problem with standard variable 0RSTTCM1 while restricting 0CALMONTH.
When I execute some query it´s not working, instead of current month, 0CALMONTH shows "#".It´s happening for WAD, Designer and Analizer ...
Ist there any aditional step?I´m using BW 2004s.

The problem is that this query it´s not suposed to have any navigation, because it will be used as a data provider in WAD, so it must run without any user interaction(to select the period again, for instance).
There´s some place that I would check the standard exit?

Contant selection use with variable restriction

Hi gurus,
My issue is as follows:
I am trying to create a query where there will be a restricted key figure with a variable restriction (ZCALMON - ready for input-mandatory-single) on 0CALMONTH characteristic. I want this restricted key figure to be constant (no changes shall be allowed based on drill-down or any other filters in the query). So I selected the 0CALMONTH char in restrictions screen and made "Constant selection".
In the filters part of my query, I am again restricting 0CALMONTH with another variable Z12MONTH(Customer exit-interval-mandatory). The from value of the variable should be 12 months before ZCALMON and to value of the variable should be ZCALMON. The value of Z12MONTH is determined via CMOD (it is correct as I have checked it via RSRT + Debugging).
However, when I run the query, only the ZCALMON values for 0CALMONTH are coming (although this should only affect the restricted key figure and report should be listing all 12 months determined by Z12MONTH).
What may be the problem?
Is it because of using "Constant selection" with a variable restriction option?

I have a problem with using variables offset for time characteristic 0CALMONTH
Let's say my current query looks like this:
...................01.2006..........02.2006..........03.2006   (0CALMONTH)
Sales ..............100..................125................200   (Keyfigure)
What I want do now is to add a previous year comparison. So that it should look this way:
...................01.2006..........02.2006..........03.2006   (0CALMONTH)
Sales ..............100..................125................200   (selected months)
LY_Sales...........50..................100................100   (selected months - 12)
(LY_Sales should show figures of 01.2005, 02.2005 and 03.2006 in this example)
I used new selection for LY_Sales with variable offset for 0CALMONTH -12 but that didn't work. Figures in second line are zero. The desired figures would show up (if I expand the selected time intervall wide enough) in 01.2005, 02.2005 and 03.2005 but that's of course not what I want.
Please help if you can!

We can get an an other way by using CELL editor caoncept.
First create teh query like this:

Then hide the 2005 years' kf:
...................01.2006..........02.2006........12.2006

Though the call editor concept overwrite the second rows(selection) content with hidden columns of second row(selection) one by one .i.e first cell of 2nd row will be overwritten by 13 th cell of second column.similarly second cell of 2nd row will be overwritten by 14 th cell of second column........
First row(selection) : Cal year Charactertic with restriction 2006.
second row(selection) : Cal year Charactertic with restriction 2005.

Problem with variable offset

Hi, I am using BI 7.0.
I have a query with 0calmonth in rows, I need the last 12 months, so I did 0calmonth from variable -1 to -11. I have the 12 rows with the month description correctly.
I have 8 columns with formulas and filter.
I can see the rows of the month I executed with the numbers without problem, but in the other rows (months before) of all the offset I don´t have the result.
Does anyone have any idea? I made it Z with other object and Z variable, but still the problem.
I tried with differents months, but the same problem.

Tomas,
Any chance your variable on Cal Month is in the free Characteristics or the Filter? If so you entire results area is restricted to this value irrespective of what offsets you have put on. You will need to put the variable into a selection.

Problem with variable in the woorkbook selection screen.

I have Problem with Variable in the selection screen. I have four variable in the report in this sequence
Plant (optional), calendar month (mandatory), material (optional), Customer (mandatory). 
In Development system, I changed the query to fix the problem for a formula. saved and executed the query. In the selection screen appeared four variables and executed. after executing the query and I saved the work book also. I logged out of the Bex Analyzer. In the RSRT I generated the report by clicking the Generated Report push button. and again logged into the Bex analyzer and ran the work book, now in the selection screen, appeared three Variables only, I am missing the variable Customer.
The old report which is already in the Production system is working fine. What could be the mistake I did in the development system.
It is very urgent, I need to deliver this object as soon as possible.
Can I anybody help on the same.

I did what you said. I removed the variable from characteristic restrictions, saved the query and executed the query, appeared three variables Plant, Calender month and material. executed and saved the work book. disconeted from Bex analyzer, in RSRT Generated Report and logged into Bex analyzer ran the work book for selection Plant, calender month and material and went into change query definition and added the variable for customer which was removed earlier and and ran the query for selections Plant, Calender monmth, Material and customer. saved the work book. disconnected from Bex analyzer and closed all excel sheets and work books. In RSRT Generated Report and again connected to Bex analyzer and ran the work book, now appeared only three variables again missed variable customer.
Yunus does any missed n the procedure what i did.
It is helped what Chris was answered.

Problem with Variable Entry Screen

Hello All,
We upgraded our development systems to NW2004s and came across the following issue:
All our Bex queries have restricted time characteristics with variables entries. When we execute a query it should pop-up the variable selection screen for us to enter the restriction values but the query is ignoring Variable restriction screen and taking into consideration everything. The same query works fine in Prod., which is still in 3.1.
Did anyone come across this situation kind of situation? It did not pop-up any type of error and we are in SPS10

We fixed the "Variable Screen not appearing" problem by adding following objects to our users.
1) Business Explorer - BEx Web Templates (NW 7.0+) S_RS_BTMP
2) Business Explorer - Individual Tools S_RS_TOOLS
3) Business Explorer - Data Access Services S_RS_DAS

Restricting particular session variables being shared

i am using weblogic 10.3.
I have an EAR with has 2 WAR in it , with session sharing enabled in the weblogic-application.xml . I understand that this will make all the variables that are added in the session to be shared by both WAR, but i want a particular variable added in the session not to shared by both WAR, it should be accessible by only WAR1.

You can use the 'transient' keyword for this purpose, for example,

Report Designer - Query with variable

Hi!
When testing the report designer, we have found an issue - its not possible to embedding queries with variables.

that suggest a solution to the issue.
My question is simply, does anyone know if this is a temporary fix, or is this a constraint that is not planned to be fixed by SAP? The note is a bit ambiguous.

Hello,
Queries with variables are still in restrictions for Report Designer.
You can use this work-arond creating Query View and fill up the variables. This allows you to define a Report in RD. Then, use Web Appication Designer to include your Report into Web Application and replace the Query View with your initial Query.
For the integration do following:
1. Create new Web Template in WAD
2. Drag-and-drop Web Item "Report"
3. Go to Property Window in WAD and search for "REPORT" (description Report Design) parameter in Web Items Parameters
4. Use the button on the right side of the parameter to open Report Designer and choose your Report in it.
5. You should see that new Data Provider was created in WAD -> Open it and set it to your initial Query.
5. Save you Web Template and execute in the browser.

Hierarchy authorization with variables of type exit

Hi all,
I am trying to implement hierarchy based authorizations with variables. After collecting information from the SAP documentation and this forum, I think I know more or less how to do it, but it's not working and it has me very confused.
These are the steps I have followed:
- From RSSM, I have created a hierarchy authorization object including my characteristic and 0TCTAUTHH
- From RSSM again, I have created a hierarchy authorization pointing to the node $ZG_V_008
- From the Query designer, I have created a hierarchy node variable of processing type customer exit ZG_V_008 (are any special settings needed here?)
- From the Query designer, I have created another hierarchy node variable of processing type authorization, and I have used this variable to restrict the hierarchy for my characteristic
- I have edited the EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001 to watch for I_STEP = 0 and give values to ZG_V_008 (we'll get to my code later in case we solve this issue first
It is my understanding that with this setup, the user exit will be called to process the value of ZG_V_008 in I_STEP = 0, however, when debugging, I don't see any calls for the function with I_STEP = 0.
What have I done wrong?

Thanks, Jimmy, but that does not help much: my problem is that my user exit is not evaluated with I_STEP=0, but there are no error messages or anything like that.
I have created a test user without a developer role to see if that could have any impact, but it's still not working.
Any ideas?

Data Slice With Variables- not working

Dear All,
We are in BI 7.0.
We have tried the data slice with variables approach and it is not working for us.
We need to lock the plan data for the past periods. For this, We have created a data slice (selection) with variable of type customer exit for fiscalyear/period. How to populate this variable with the past month's data?. For Bex variables, this can be done in the cmod exits. Can we use the same cmod exits for populating data slice variable too?. If yes, then how this works?.( In case of Bex variable, the variable will be used in the characterics restriction (like fiscper) and hence this is getting filled up by the exit. How this works for the data slice variable?.

Thanks for your response. Let me clarify one more thing related to this. I have 10 characterstics with a kf 0amount at my Aggregation level and i want to create a data slice to restrict the user not to change the data for the older periods. So, do i have to use all characterstics like my agg level or do i have to use only the fiscal year period?
and the other thing is that it won't let me use a variable when i select the exit function for the fiscal year period when i created my data slice? where i can specify the variable name? is that at the settings tab or some where else?

A cursor fetch loop is not the ideal processing structure.
It is slow. It requires data to travel from the buffer cache of the database into PL/SQL variables (in the PGA). It requires context switching between the PL/SQL and SQL engines.
It does not scale. More rows means more data to travel that path from the SQL engine to the PL/SQL engine. More loop iterations in PL/SQL. So if your loop is for a 1000 rows, it means writing a 1000 lines of text into very expensive server memory - and then expecting the client to read that afterwards and display it. Why? This is not a standard client-server method. It also does not scale. It can actually crash the server when this method is abused.
The standard method would be to create a SQL cursor using PL/SQL code, and then return a reference handle (pointer) to the client. This allows the client the ability to fetch data directly from the cursor - in an optimal way that does not consume expensive server memory.I have to say it: I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to write this whenever it needs to be written rather than just giving up and letting people stumble along with bad design - it must take a lot of mental stamina to keep doing it. One day it will sink into my head also :-)

Dynamic target directory with variable substitution

Hi everyone.
I'm trying to save a file in a folder with receiver adapter.
This folder is determined in runtime and passed to the adapter with variable substitution. My problem is that in RWB i get a error like this : 'Content of variable XXXXX is not safe'
Does anybody have done a variable substituion for output directory receiver file adapter?
