Restriction on a key figure

Hi experts,
I need to write a BEx query which has a restriction on a key figure. For example it should display only those records and their details for which the invoice amount is 0. Where invoice amount is a key figure.
I tried adding a condition but it just hides the all the rows and still dispays the total results from the multi. Is there any other way where I could restrict my key figure in the same way as we restrict characteristics (Characteristic restrictions)??
Thanks
IA

Hi,
In the below link, there is a similar example handled.

  • How to use Restricted or Calculated Key figure with Characteristics?

    Hi,
Query has characteristics 'Indicator' which has values  'X' and 'Y' depending this value, the Key figure Quantity(which is always +ve) has to be shown on the report either as -ve or +ve.
Do I use Restricted Key figure if so, how? Or can I manage with a Calculated Key figure?
    Thanks,
    Kamala

    Hi Kamala,
You can create 2 RFKs each in which you are restricting the KF with char value X and Y. For the one that needs to be -ve, create a CKF with this RKF and multiply it by -1 in the formula. Then you can create a new CKF that will add this CKF and the other RKF.
    Hope this helps...

  • Restricted/Calculated Key Figures in Query vs MDX?

    Hello All,
We are embarking on our first project utilizing SAP BW as the Data Warehouse and Web Intelligence as the presentation tool.
We plan on creating the universes on BW Queries.
What are the pros and cons of using Restricted and Calculated Key Figures in the query versus creating them in the Universe?  Also from a performance impact point of view if there is any?
    Best Regards,
    Dan Krieg

    Hi Dan,
I would suppose that there is no big influence on performance. If the calculation for the calculated key figures are very complex I would propose to calculate them on query level. So its easier to use them also in other environments.
Please take into consideration that OLAP universes are not supported in Crystal Reports. More information you find in the thread [OLAP universes and Crystal Reports|OLAP universes and Crystal Reports;.

  • Restricted key figures (from Infoprovider) not showing in multiprovider

    Hi all
I have created a multi provider joining two info providers.  The infoproviders have many restricted and calculated key figures.
Do I have to re-create these in the multiprovider ?
In the infoprovider when I click on edit restricted key figure it says it is reuseable.
    any ideas ?
    thanks in advance

    Hi Sandra,
In the infoprovider when I click on edit restricted key figure it says it is reuseable This means that it can be used in any query on that info provider not on another infoprovider (like a multi-provider). So, you will need to re-create those KFs on muti-provider.

  • Restricted key figure doesn't work when restricted objected used in Structure

    Hi Experts,
We've a requirement where user wants to restrict ABC key figure with z object. This z objects also used in structure as well, because of that this restricted key figure is not working.
We understand it can't be used in two structure and user wants to keep this object in structure as well.
Is there a workaround to make it work?
    Requirement brief overview:
Say I've restricted key figure gross avail percentage and which is restricted by retail group A and B. This retail group is also used in Structure as well (in row). As said users want to keep retails group in structure and want to restrict only one key figure with two retail group A and B.
But this combination is not working. Please can someone recommend any other way to achieve this requirement.
    Thanks,

    Hi Yasmine,
Yes, I've reloaded the data again. Also, I've mapped correctly in cube. But still I can't see data.
I've checked customer master data , there is no data for this field.
In transformation I've mapped retail group with the new field as well.
When I tried to activate master data , it's saying it's possible only via attribute change run.
I've realised 0CUSTOMER_ZRETGRP (old field) also used in two aggregates.
Do I need to add this in aggregates?
How to activate master data so data will appear in cube?
Is there any programme to activate via attribute change run?
    Thanks

  • Creating Restricted Key Figure

    Hello all,
When creating a Restricted Key figure do we need to drag and drop both the key figure and also the characteristic?

If you are creating a Restricted key figure by right clicking on the 'Key figures' section in the Infoprovider panel to the left in Query designer then you need to explicitly drag both key figure and then all the characteristics on which you want to restrict this keyfigure.
On the other hand if you are restricting a existing key figure in the Columns section,  then you just need to drag the characteristics.

  • Problem with restricted key-figure using off-set variable

    Hello Gurus,
I have created a query in Bex Query Designer with a key figure restricted. This key figure shows me the 0amount value for the last month. When I select 003.2009, the key figure brings the 002.2009 values. I used an off-set variable to do this
    It works!
But when I show this key-figure in Webi, no value shows up on the table.
    Any suggestions?

Which variable are you using in BEx and in WEBI to restrict the month/year?

  • Restricting key figure using 0infoprovider

    Hi Experts
My query is buily on a multiprovider (which is built on 10 cubes)
I need to restrict key figures in the query so that every KF will search a particular cube, instead of searching all the cubes. because of this query performance is very poor.
We use  10 RKF in that query. I know that we can restrict them it using 0infoprovider.
Now my question - Do we have to restrict the original key figure using which we created RKF or can i just restrict RKF.
Another question - If we have restrict RKF, then in global window (this will affect all the query using tht rKF)or at local level.
    Thanks
    BIT

    Hi,
Now my question - Do we have to restrict the original key figure using which we created RKF or can i just restrict RKF.
You can simply add the restriction in the RKF.
Another question - If we have restrict RKF, then in global window (this will affect all the query using tht rKF)or at local level
If RKF is getting used in multiple queries and you want it to restrict to same inforprovider for all the queries then you can restrict it at global level. But if you have different restrictions for different queries then you will have to create local RKF's and then use them in the individual queries.

  • Restricted & Calculated Key figures and Structures

    Hello Gurus,
I'm using a BW Query to create my universe and all I see is a class called Key Figures and few objects. I don't see my restricted and Calculated Key figures.
Also I want to understand how are the Structures in BW Query brought into Universe? All I see is a column class and row class with corresponding objects in it.
    Environment: BO XI 3.1
    Appreciate your help.

    Hi Ingo,
Sorry for getting back a little late on this issue. I've been trying to fix other issues. I'm creating my report out of BW Query and I'm not able to see all the Restricted Key Figures. Also when I try to create my report out of existing key figures and verify the data with BW analyzer the data seems to be different.
What happens is in my universe I've two classes naming Rows_xyz, Column_abc etc and there are like 25 objects in Rows_xyz when there are supposed to be like 60 key figures and in Column class I have a single object. When I pull in this coulmn obect and pull like 3-4 key figures (which I made sure have data from BW Query Analyzer) doesn't return any data. It doesn't even throw an error as No data to fetch.
I took the MDX Query that is generated by this report and ran it on the backend and see that there is no data even there. But from the BW Query Analyzer I can see data for this Column and the key figures that I pulled in the report.
    Thank you for your help

  • Restrict Key Figure using a Characteristic InfoObject which is Compounded

    Hello Friends,
I have a scenario where I need to restrict the a Key Figure using a Characteristic which is a Compounded Info Object.
The Compounding is done on Info Object Payment Method and Country is the superior Info Object. The Values in the Compounded Info Object are like "country/payment method"  " AE/J ,  AU/J , BD/3".
In the Query I would like to restrict the data for a Key Figure using the above values. But when I try to create a Restricted Key Figure it does not take the compounded value instead it would take the value of Payment method like J or 3.
But in the Single values for Payment Method it shows the complete compounded value "AE/J , AU/J", and when I select the values it selects only the payment method value.
Any suggestions on how to achieve a restriction on the compounded value.

    Hi Naveen,
Kindly try filtering the Key Figure with both Payment Method and Country in the restricted key figure that you are creating.
For example, lets assume you want a restricted key figure, that is filtered with the value - AE/J.
You are not able to get that directly by filtering it only with Payment Method - J.
So filter it with Payment Method - J and Country - AE.
Now save the restricted key figure and try executing it.
    Hope it Helps.
    Warm Regards

  • Display Text as a Key Figure

    Hi peeps,
I would like to display a text half way along my bex report
i.e. would like to display 4 chars ,then 5 kfs then some text and then some more kfs.
i am currently doing this using a Formula Variable to Replace a KF value with a char, and this works to an extent.
The char value is diplayed, but the formula variable only allows me to set the output to Number so if the char contains anything other than a number it fails to display. It also contains the number formating in bex.
    any ideas.
    e.g.
if a char contains week no, 200450, when using a formula var to display this as a KF, I get 200,450 formatting in Bex.
If the char contains 10/20/30 I get a display error in bex as it will not alow the '/' to be displayed
    any ideas.

You could create your query as a tabular query. To do this just click on the 'Tabular Display' Button (left beside the technical Name button. There you can arrange the columns as you like and you are not restricted to characteristics/key figures order.

  • Using Explorer with Calculated Key Figures from BEx (BW 7.31 / BI 4.1)

I'm looking for suggestions on how to leverage data from calculated and restricted key figures in BEx (from a BW 7.31 system) with Business Objects Explorer (from a BI 4.1 system).  Our current process involves some complicated workarounds and with the implementation of BI 4.1 and I'm hoping to streamline things a bit.
Here is what I had in mind...
An information space (indexed daily) sitting on a universe (hopefully UNX) that referred to a BEx query on a multiprovider in BW.  My understanding was that universes would be able to consume BEx queries (including their restricted and calculated key figures) in 4.1.  Based on a recent post (http://scn.sap.com/thread/3417905), it appears that the feature that I was hoping for may have not made it into the GA release.  Obviously, I could move the calculations and restrictions into BW ETL or maybe into the universe, but since that work has already been done and lives in the queries, I'm hoping to use them!  Also, we could use a different tool such as WebI, but at this point the user base is comfortable with Explorer and we would like to continue to use it.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks!
    -S

    Hi McDowell,
Regarding to the BEx connection in Explorer, SAP provide two solution
    1. BWA connection
    2. Unv on top of connection
For the UNV situation, you could use the calculated / restricted key figure in the system but please assgin the aggregation level for them (Database delegate is not supported if I am not wrong)
    Also plese consider two points
    1. Data size (UNV cannot support large data size)
    2. Scheduling (Explorer does not support event trigger? correct me if I am wrong)

  • Key Figure based on selection criteria

    Hi SDNers,
I have Key figures which  i would like to display based on multiple selection criteria... for this we donot have master data data restricted at the query level it should be at the key figure leve...
    Eg:
Sales which i would like to display based on SORG,DIV,MATERIal Etc.. Kindly can anyone will help...
    Thanks
    Sonu

You can create restricted key figures if you want to use the same selection criteria in multiple queries.  In which you can get value for key figure for selcted filters on that perticular key figure.
If you need it for just one query  you can create a structure and in that structure you can create a new selection which has your restrictions on that key figures.
Search on help you will get to know hot to create structures and restricted key figures.

    Restricted KF
Giving restriction to a Key Figure value based on a Charactorstic value
Eg.   We want to see all Order Value (KF) which comes under 0plant = 100
Here we have given restriction to KF which shows only Order Value is 0plant = 100.
    Calculated KF
Deriving a KF value based on existing KF,this is global which be reused for any other report which create on top of your info provider.
Eg.  We want to provide 10% hike on existing Basic salary to employees
Gross Salary = Bsal+10% of Bsal ...   He Gross Salary is not available but it has been derived by using Calculated KF

  • Key Figure Restrictions in Query

    Hi all,
I've got this scenario on hand:
I want to display a Bex report with the a particular key figure (Actuals) restricted to only specific value COMBINATIONS of two characteristics (Cost Centre and Cost Element). i.e. The restrictions should only apply for each individual combination of the characteristics (e.g for Cost centre = S0561 and Cost Element = 70400 , another combination could be for Cost Centre = S0352 and Cost Element = 70610 ).
The challenge here is that if you restrict the key figure based on the individual characteristics (say, for Cost Centre = S0561 , S0352 and for Cost Element = 70400 , 70610) then it blocks off other figures from characteristic combinations that are should be allowed (e.g. Cost centre = S0561 and Cost Element = 70610 ,  and another combination of Cost Centre = S0352 and Cost Element = 70400).
Any suggestions on how to handle this, typically from a previous experience, will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Uche

    Hi Uche,
A workaround for this scenario would be to include a hidden keyfigure for every characteristic combination. (If there are not many combinations)
    For e.g.
Hidden KF1  Restricted on Cost centre = S0561 and Cost Element = 70400
Hidden KF2  Restricted on Cost Centre = S0352 and Cost Element = 70610
Then another final key figure, which is visible and is a formula KF
    Actuals     Formula = Hidden KF1 + Hidden KF2 + ..
