Restriction on BEX gives medium description

Hi Experts,
I made a user entry variable on Info object in the bex.
The variable can be changed in query navigation and has a default value.
When I open the query the default value exhibit is medium description and in the selection filter value I get short description.
The info object has short and medium text and the default on the IO BEX tab is short text and short description.
The IO also defines as short text in the Query.
How I can get a short description instead medium description in the filter value when I open the query?
Regards
Yaniv

Try the following...
Right-click on the InfoObject in the InfoProvider and choose "Provider-Specific Properties". In this menu, change the Display setting to "7 Short Text".
Hope this helps...

Note: Material having small description, Medium description in my modelling, dealer having only medicum description.

In the query designer where you select the display settings of a characteristic (key, text etc), you have an option to select the type of text (short, med, long) a little down below. Set it there to medium.

  • Creating Restrictions in BEx query designer for (1-a), where a is variable.

    Dear All,
    >>  Suppose for the variable in the BEx query designer, I've created restriction for 0FISCPER to the variable 0P_PER (as 0P_PER-1) by right clicking 0P_PER3, from that a dialog box appears.  In that I've selected 0P_PER3 and then clicked on offset variable and when I set the offset variable, it works for (0P_PER-1.etc, 0P_PER+1,etc..)
But if I want to have (1-0P_PER), then plz tell me how to define this restriction?
Plz explain me the steps to perform (1-0P_PER) restriction in BEx query designer in BW1.
I'm using SAP BI 7.2 gui.
    Expecting your reply soon,
    with Regards,
    Jerald

My requirement is that I want to have " 1-fiscal year"., But this I could not define using offset variables, since using offset we can define "fiscal year +1" or "fiscal year -1".
So there would be some other way to define "1-fiscalyear".  So Please help me to define "1-fiscalyear"  by giving me the steps.
    Thank you,
    with Regards,

  • Medium description of Variable in the planning folder

    Hi Experts,
In one of our planning folders the variable for infoobject(Cstcenter) is not put pulling the medium description in the varible section(Top part of planning folder) but same variable is pulling the medium descprion in the header of the layout (Bottom part of the llayout) with in the same folder. This problem is also for only few Costcenters, some costcenters it is pulling the data in both variable section and in the layout section
Any thoughts on this . Please share me your ideas on this. I know this is very simple but little confusing Since the same variable is dipalying the value in place but not in other place. Anybody had this problem.
    Thanks in advance
    Best regards

Thanks for your reply Bindu. In both the places test replacement and char test defined as "Medium". It is dipaying the medium text in both the places for only few CC's, but few CC's it is not diplaying the descrption in the varaible section..

  • Char restriction in Bex Query Designer

    Hi Gurus,
Can anyone explain what is the use of the Characteristic Restriction Area in in the BEx Query designer
If i set 0CALYEAR =2008 in the Char Restriction and in the column definition i set the one of the column to display data from year 2009. Will it work ?
    Please advice
    Thank you
    BR

There are two type of characterstic restrcitions in the query. Global and local.
If you are createing a restrcited key figure or selection and restricting calday then it will be restricted to that particular key figure (and show 2008 data) and in the columns it will show you other years data (i.e. 2009 data).
But if you are using a global fiter in the filter tab of query designer, then it will be applicable to the whole query.

  • Crystal didn't show the BEx query Attributes description changes/Values

We experiencing the BEx query attributes/crystal report  issue.
I create a crystal report using BW- BEx query. Bex query displays the attributes values. But in crystal report side it didn;t show up the values as well as description changes.
But If I change the display properties of attributes (different from one attribute to another) the crystal report reflect the values. But crystal report didn't show the Attribute description changes , the one i did it in BEx query side.
    Example:
Bex has a Masterdata as well as attribute Field1, Field2 etc.. I changed the description like Field_Test1 and Field_Test2. Also I changed the display property for Field_Test1 is Key and text and long , Field_Test2 is Text & LOng text.
I  got the attribute values is crystal report Xi R2. But crystal didn't reflect the description changes?
    Suggestions Please?

  • Populating mass restrictions in BEx

    hello,
I know that there is a way to upload a text file with restrictions into a variable. Is this also possible (or some similar way) to upload many values for restriction while in the Query builder?
    many thanks,
    Allan

    Allan,
in bex you must use eq, less then, equal, interval, ecc.
if it's not possible you must create an attribute for you char (if the value are always the same) and select/find all your selection in bex filters with your attribute.
    char attr
    1     A
    2     B
    3     A
    4     B
    5     B
    6     B
    7     A
if you want only the 1,2,7 post the attr A in master data and find the values of your char using the attribute.

  • 0I_FYPER - Variable in BEx gives no result

    Hello all,
I have a problem in BEx-reporting after a releasechange from BW3.5 to BI7.0 and at the same time SEM-BCS4.0 to SEM-BCS6.0 which belongs to the variable 0I_FYPER. I use this variable in the columns (only) in order to give the user the possibillity to define which periods to show. In the rows I use the rest for defining which numbers to bring up. It worked in BW3.5/SEM-BCS4.0 fine.
I debuged the content of the variable in user-exit ZXRSRU01 (after processing the selection screen) and could find the data I entered but the query gives no result. Any ideas?
    Thank you for any feedback,
    Chris

    Hi Guru,
We have a work around for your issue. Just create a customer Exit variable on the calendar month and use it in the filter.
In the customer Exit variable read the Plant variable and if it is empty populate # as result. Else read the calmonth input variable and populate it as the result.
Use the following snippet to read input ready variables.
    DATA: loc_var_range LIKE rrrangeexit.
READ TABLE i_t_var_range WITH KEY vnam = 'VARNAME' INTO loc_var_range.
(loc_var_range-low will have the value of the variable)
    Hope this helps.
    Regards.
    Shafi.

  • Will Restricted key figure give no applicable data

    Hi,
After the query is run it shows no applicable data.
There is applicable data as far as characterstics and filters are concerned.
But the key figures are restircted ones and there is no data matching that restirction.
But shouldnt the query in that case give the output with the char rows which are present and the key figure column as 0.
Kindly provide pointers to the same.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rathy

If there is no data that matches the restrictions on the RKFs, then no data will be displayed. The values are not "0" in this case, they don't exist.
    Perhaps an example will clarify...
Let's assume there are 3 RKFs restricted by Calendar Month to 01/2007, 02/2007 and 03/2007. If I request data for a date range including these months, then the appropriate data will be displayed. However, if I request data for 07/2007 -> 09/2007, it would not make sense to show "char rows which are present" for those months with "the key figure column as 0".
However, you can essentially get the result you are looking for by turning off all zero suppression and hiding all of the RKFs.
    Hope this helps...

  • BEx Query Formula Descriptions -- Conditional Formula

My question is in regards to the description that is returned from a formula within a structure.  The data I'm expecting is based on (for example) "fiscal year."  I have a text variable setup that returns the result of the "fiscal year" to be displayed as the column description.
However if no data is returned for the current fiscal year, I then want to display the data for the previous fiscal year.
I have a formula setup that uses a conditional statement.  It is setup as described below:
    <b>Formula Description</b>
--  If data is returned based on fiscal year "2008" then use that data.
--  Else use the data based on fiscal year "2007"
    <b>Issue</b>
-- I use a text variable that is based on 0FISCYEAR called <b>0T_FYEAR</b>
-- When the query is run, the data returned is correct --> (2007 data if there is no 2008 data)
-- The text variable is also used as the formula "description" which is set to "0T_FYEAR" so if there was 2008 data, the text variable would say "2008" and if not it would say "2007."
The problem resides in the text variable which is used as the formula description.  It is displaying the technical name of the text variable (&0T_FYEAR&) instead of "2008" or "2007."
Has anyone else had this occur?  I would expect that if the data coming back is correctly based on 2008 or 2007, then the text variable used for the formula description would also be set to "2007" or "2008" based on my formula condition.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and of course points will be awarded!
    Kevin

Thanks for the quick response Pallavi...
That logic seems completely backwards to me...is there a reason BEx is trying to populate the text variable values BEFORE knowing what data is actually being returned?
Also, my next obvious question:  Is there a way to get these variables populated with the correct value?  Can I force it to populate AFTER the formula has been executed so BEx knows which value to assign?
What i'm trying to do is have a Year-Over-Year (last 3 years) comparison for the past 3 fiscal quarters.  So I would compare the current quarter numbers (Qtr 1) YoY Q1/2008, Q1/2007, Q1/2006 with the previous quarter...but the previous quarter is Q4 of 2007 (not 2008).  So I cant do the same 2008, 2007, 2006 comparison.  I was hoping to move the years back one for a 2007, 2006, 2005 comparison --> Thus the need for the conditional statement.
I hope that helps explain.  Any insight at all would be greatly appreciated.
    Kevin

  • BEx query characteristic description change

    Hi all,
We have some BEx queries that we have changed one of the characteristic description - title only (by dragging the characteristic to the rows, right click, attributes, description).
Lately when we try to refresh the queries the description that shows up is the original one.
Only after saving the query and then execute we can see our own defined description.
Does anyone have an idea to solve this issue for all the queries together?
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you A J for your reply.
I want to specify my problem:
We have about 100 BEx queries that were designed by the same person (a top user) at the passed year and are viewed through our SAP Portal by many people every day. When the queries were designed some of the Characteristic's descriptions were change (For example: The characteristic 0MAINTROOM description was changed from ROOM to SITE in some of the queries).
At the passed few days, we have noticed that the description at the portal is the original one (ROOM). We opened the BEx query and we saw that the 0MAINTROOM has the description of SITE . but... After that – if we execute the query (by clicking only "Quit and use Query"), the query result is with the description ROOM. Only by saving again the query and then execute - we will see SITE at the result.
We also tried to generate all the queries by using RSRT --> Environment --> Generate Queries but with no success to solve this issue.
    Thanks again.

  • Hierarchy restrictions in BEx

    Hello BW Experts,
I am a beginner in SAP BW(ver 3.1).We have particular BEx query, where there is a characteristic in the filter part that is restricted by a particular hierarchy.
Now,I need to track the data at the infocube(over which the query is created) level. So,at the selection screen for the cube, what restrictions should be put for that particular characteristic? Is it all the characteristic values in the hierarchy, which are unfortunately, too many in number and might make the job rather tedious or is there any simpler alternative to view the data at the infocube level while applying the restrictions on the characteristic?
    Thanks in advance!!
    Regards,
    Minuj Sarma

    Hi,
One check you can do to validate the data, remove the Hierarchy for that particular char. then the data is displayed in the normal form and then validate. OR if not to remove the Hier. then check in hte particular hierarchy in the RSA1 under infoobject list..
    Regards,
    Vishwa.
