Restrictions Error after opening Acrobat

Hello all,
I'm having a problem with Acrobat version 11.0.06. This issue only happens with our Windows 7 computers in our server 2003 AD domain.
I keep getting this error: Restrictions “This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator". I get this error after opening a PDF (the PDF opens completely).  Acrobat License has already been accepted as well.
We have a GP set “Run only allowed Windows Applications".
I’ve added: AcroRd32. e-x-e and armsvc. e-x-e to the list.  Am I missing something? Could this be the cause of the error or do I need to add something else?

Is the save as PDF that you mention the MS plugin in Excel or the Acrobat macro? What happens if you try to print to the Adobe PDF printer? What OS version, office version, and version of Acrobat?

  • How to repair projects that get a "TickTime.cpp-290" error after opening a specific project.

    This is a guide to repair projects that get a "TickTime.cpp-290" error after opening a specific project.
    Prerequisites:
    Project repair tool (download link below)
    WinRAR or any file archiver
    Damaged project file
    As an example, let's say the name of my damaged project is 'test.prproj'
    Steps:
    1. Download the project repair tool here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3fyja0ws7l5gkbt/pp-repair-0.1.35.zip?dl=0
    2. Rename your project file extension from 'test.prproj' to 'test.zip' (a warning appears saying the file might become unusable. Do not be concerned about the warning. Click OK and move to the next step.)
    3. Extract the contents of 'test.zip' to a location on your computer. (Right click on the file and select ‘Extract files’ > Choose a location > Click OK).
    4. Go to the extracted location. Note the file 'test' has no extension.
    5. Rename the file, 'test.prproj'.
    6. Launch the project repair tool, and then select the file 'test.prproj' (the one that we renamed in the last step).
    7. Deselect all the check-boxes in the project repair tool.
    8. Click the Repair button.
    9. After a few seconds you see a message saying 'Success'.
    10. Open the repaired file in Premiere Pro and then reset the workspace. Choose Window > Workspace > Reset Current Workspace.
    11. Click the Save button to reduce the project size.
    12. Your project is now repaired.
    NOTE: If a file containing letters such as ã, å, ê, í, ú don’t repair, rename the file to something that doesn't contain these letters.

    Hi Rameez,
    first of all thanks a bunch for the tool - it saved our neck this morning on a tight deadline.
    One minor note: I did get a message that the (already uncompressed + renamed) file is not uncompressed until I ran the tool as Administrator so you might want to add that to the FAQ entry...
    Other than that I'm very much interested in what triggers this bug so we can potentially prevent it.
    Background:
    Specs: Windows 8.1, German locale (ie comma is decimal symbol), Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 installed in English
    My colleague who ran into the TickTime.cpp-290 error remembers having created a new workspace while working on the project. That seems to have triggered the issue as we haven't had any trouble on other projects yet. It also got saved into the project file:
    <MZ.Project.WorkspaceName>Bearbeitung</MZ.Project.WorkspaceName>
    Any autosaves after he added the workspace were corrupted as well while the ones dating back to earlier still open fine.
    I'd like to mention that Premiere did import previous (German language) workspaces - dating back until CS5. Not sure if that comes into play.
    On the other hand, the debug log looks like there only is an issue with the decimal symbol:
    10:08:06: Input: C:/temp/trouble/uncompressed/final.prproj
    10:08:06: Path: C:/temp/trouble/uncompressed Basename: final Extension:prproj
    10:08:06: 19852-> from: <PlaybackSpeed>0,069148936170212769</PlaybackSpeed>
    10:08:06: 19852-> to:   <PlaybackSpeed>0.069148936170212769</PlaybackSpeed>
    10:08:06: 23970-> from: <PlaybackSpeed>0,0062741915889604422</PlaybackSpeed>
    10:08:06: 23970-> to:   <PlaybackSpeed>0.0062741915889604422</PlaybackSpeed>
    I really need to make sure that this is no general problem with German locales as we have multiple users on this kind of config and can't afford projects breaking.
    Or do we "just" need to watch out to get rid of the old workspaces? I'm a little puzzled to be honest.
    Maybe it helps to mention that we are on CC Enterprise
    Best regards,
    Mike

    the errors occur shortly after booting the system.  is there a fix for these errors?

    z solution is pretty simple. as always when users should repair Adobe Corp errors  while Adobe Corp's time of sweat dreams....
    1. download & install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update (latest VC++2005) both x86 & x64:
        http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=14 431
       this is mainly for availability of ms assembly "Microsoft.VC80.CRT" version="8.0.50608.0" processorArchitecture="x86" (and amd64) publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b" in ur Win7sp1x64;
    2. download & install z free resources editor application from here http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/
    3.  open in Resource Hacker file FormDesigner.exe subfolder '24' then '1' and click string 1033. then change z part of this string as explained below. in short it's just swap all "x86" entries to "*" ones (means either x86 or amd64):
    a) original string:
    <assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0"><assemblyIdentity version="1.0.0.0" processorArchitecture="x86" name="FormDesigner" type="win32"></assemblyIdentity><description>Themed Form Designer</description><dependency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentit y type="win32" name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" version="6.0.0.0" publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df" language="*" processorArchitecture="x86"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssembly></ dependency><dependency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC80.CRT" version="8.0.50727.762" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssem bly></dependency><dependency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC80.MFC" version="8.0.50727.762" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssem bly></dependency><dependency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" version="6.0.0.0" processorArchitecture="*" publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df" language="*"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssembly></dependency><dep endency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC80.CRT" version="8.0.50608.0" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssem bly></dependency><dependency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC80.MFC" version="8.0.50608.0" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssem bly></dependency><trustInfo xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v3"><security><requestedPrivileg es>

    b) modded string:
    <assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0"><assemblyIdentity version="1.0.0.0" processorArchitecture="*" name="FormDesigner" type="win32"></assemblyIdentity><description>Themed Form Designer</description><dependency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" version="6.0.0.0" publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df" language="*" processorArchitecture="*"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssembly></dependency><dependency ><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC80.CRT" version="8.0.50727.762" processorArchitecture="*" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssembly></dependency><de pendency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC80.MFC" version="8.0.50727.762" processorArchitecture="*" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssembly></dependency><de pendency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" version="6.0.0.0" processorArchitecture="*" publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df" language="*"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssembly></dependency><dependency><dependentAs sembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC80.CRT" version="8.0.50608.0" processorArchitecture="*" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssembly></dependency><de pendency><dependentAssembly><assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.VC80.MFC" version="8.0.50608.0" processorArchitecture="*" publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"></assemblyIdentity></dependentAssembly></dependency><tr ustInfo xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v3"><security><requestedPrivileges>

    that's all. enjoy.
    rgds,
    P.S. maybe u can skip item#1. up 2 u. sorry i'm not sure because i've started from item#1 due to another errors with ID 33. that was solved by install of z above ms vc++2005 update x86.

  • Error after opening a PDF

    Hi,
    I'm not overly familiar with creating PDF's and such so please bare with me.
    I have saved an Excel document as a PDF. When I open the PDF I get an error saying "An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem." I did look up on another discussion regarding this problem. Correct me if I'm wrong, but am I not the creator? Or is the message referring to the creator of the original document, in this case being Excel. This document does have a lot of pictures in it. I ran a Preflight, there's a list of things that come up. Magazine and Newspaper adds and some other things. When I analyze and fix, re-save the document (replace existing document). A new message pops up, "Unable to save the PDF after post processing." The Preflight window comes back. I have no idea what anything in the Preflight means. Please help! Thanks for your time and any help given.

    Is the save as PDF that you mention the MS plugin in Excel or the Acrobat macro? What happens if you try to print to the Adobe PDF printer? What OS version, office version, and version of Acrobat?

  • IE 10.0.9 errors after installing Acrobat XI

    On Windows 8 x64, after I install Acrobat XI I get two Internet Explorer errors every time I close a page/tab. I'm using IE 10.0.9, all current MS updates, and I've tried uninstalling AXI (error goes away) and reinstalling (error comes back). The event log shows only IE errors, not Acrobat. I've replicated this several times, and it doesn't happen with Chrome or Firefox. I can open PDF files within IE. Any ideas? Thanks!
    Small update - if I 'cancel' the error message before it completes processing I get it a 2nd time, if I allow it to run until the 'close' button appears I only get one. Either way, every time I close a browser window or tab I get the error.

    There is an outside chance that updating AA XI will resolve the issue. You mentioned updates to MS, but not to Acrobat.

  • Receiving I/O error after installing Acrobat 8.1.2 update

    After installing the update, I cannot scroll or page through a PDF doc without constantly getting this error message:
    There was an error processing a page. A file I/O error has occurred.

    I closed Acrobat, then closed other apps, then re-opened the PDF in Acrobat. Seems to be ok now.

  • Blackened page and dialog error after opening a PDF file

    Hello,
    I have an Acrobat Pro. 8.1 that I had installed in to Win. Vista. After reformatting my system and installing Win. 7 ultimate, I installed it again.  I also have Adobe Reader 9.0 on this system.
    Problem is when I click and open a PDF file, it opens it in completely Black page and after a few second Black page goes away and following dialog is display and when I click on Close program on this dialog page the application does not give solution and goes completely away.
    Adobe Acrobat 8.1 has stopped working
    A problem caused that program to stop working correctly.
    Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
    With a Close program below it.
    I can not scan with it either where as I could all the above in Win Vista. What could be wrong?
    When I generate System Report if generates the following:

    There were documents available in the knowledgeable that I no longer have the urls for. I have had communication with Adobe Acrobat support personnel that have made the same statements. I do not have the habit  of asking official Adobe tech support people to prove their statements by providing documentation. I have also seen Adobe employees give presentations on computers that have had both installed. When they were asked about the incompatibility, they did say the equivalent of phooey. However, enough people on this forum have had their problems disappear when they have removed one of the two programs that I feel comfortable giving that advice. Yes some people have no problems running both until one of the programs or a system component gets updated and then things stop working. My advice is not to have both on the same computer. When two programs share system calls and can fight over who gets to handle the call it makes sense that it can cause a problem. It doesn't make a difference if it is Reader and Acrobat or any two other programs you run. If you are not having a problem with running both GREAT. However, if you are running both and have a problem, it is a simple step to eliminate one and see if the problem disappears.

  • Copy/paste errors after updating Acrobat Professional to 8.1.3

    Hi,
    I as well as my colleague has recently experienced problems with copying/pasting comments in and between pdf-documents. It seems to me that the problems appeared after updating to 8.1.3. Very frustrating because we are using Acrobat intensively in our roof reading process.
    I found one other thread mentioning this but there is no solution.
    Lars Lindbjerg

    Sorry to hear about the trouble.  We've heard some reports of similar issues with files not opening after the 11.0.01/10.1.5/9.5.3 updates were installed.  I would suggest uninstalling Acrobat, the reinstalling and patching up to 10.1.4 again as an immediate solution.
    To help us figure out what may be going with your particular files, could you open one in Acrobat and choose File > Properties.  I'd like to know what it says next to the PDFProducer and Application lines.

  • My Acrobat 8.1.3 shuts down seconds after opening any document or other activity.

    I have a Dell XPS 8100 operating Windows 7 Home Premium. I haven't used the Acrobat for a while so am not sure when the problem began. But today, when I tried opening several documents (all, or one at a time), Acrobat would shut down within seconds. The same happens when I select any tab after opening Acrobat. I went through the repair both with and without the disc, rebooting each time, but the problem is still there. Suggestions?

    That is really strange and not an expected behavior. Other than the reinstall, I don't really have other suggestions (wish I did). Sometimes when this kind of thing occurs, there is another product that is causing an issue. If you are runnin your AA8 on a 64-bit machine, that may be the issue. I have only heard of success 2 times for that combination, and I am not sure I believe the report in full.
    If you decide to do the Reinstall, then the process is as follows: deactivate, uninstall, remove the Acrobat folder (if any of it is left), run the cleaner http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, reboot, install, activate, update. Typically all of the updates can be done and then reboot, rather than all the extra reboots.

  • Cannot open Acrobat 6 Pro after opening Reader 8 and viceversa

    There is a compatibility issue between Acrord32.exe and Acrobat.exe files?
    My Acrobat 6 Professional does not open while viewing a PDF in Reader 8, get a empty Reader 8 window instead of Acrobat 6.
    When trying the opposite, the Reader 8 shows the following error message:
    "The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again."
    Operating system is Windows XP Professional and browser is Internet Explorer 7.

    Reader leaves a resident part running, even after you close it. To open Acrobat, you must first shut down the resident part from the task list.

  • Help!!!  Opening Acrobat after a new install of v.8

    these are errors i get when trying to open acrobat, after a new install of v. 8, seven is installed and opens but crashes when i try to print. the photoshop error is occurring when i open it up. it goes through the splash screen and then comes to an error and won't open. i reinstalled and got the same error. i made a new user and tried both programs and they worked fine. even printed the pdf in new user without trouble, in reader 8. i've moved the local library's prefs for all adode products and restarted with the same results. i'm running a g5 power pc dual 1.8 ghz machine that has a new internal drive (needed a larger one) that i carbon copy cloner'd the old HD to. also did another identical machine, same way at same residence, and no problems with either program.

  • Update Acrobat X Pro to 10.1.11. After update, Acrobat does not open. Acrobat is licensed. Ran repair, no help

    Did a regular update of Acrobat, from within the application. Update completed normally. After update, Acrobat does not open. No error or any message. Tried repairing, same.

    Hi,
    Can you share more information about the system you are trying on?
    Thanks!

  • After opening and closing 19-20 PDFs in 8.1.6 Acrobat stops working

    I have just started getting Acrobat errors '..has stopped working' after opening 19-20 PDFs (individually opening and closing each separately) which causes Acrobat to stop working and displaying PDFs, even any of the 19-20 PDFs, that opened fine beforehand, stop opening. Only by restarting Windows, does it seem to clear this error. I have maintained my updates and patches, on both my Acrobat Professional and Reader 8.1.6.
    I am Running Windows XP SP2, with 4Gbs or Memory, and no other programs except for my MS outlook 2007 running. I have MS Office 2007 Professional installed. Something also from Acrobat is interferring with Outlook. Is there an add-on, automatically installed in Outlook for PDF previews? I suspect it might have something to do with the aspect of Acrobat causing the errors and crashing of Acrobat, but I am only guessing. I have also run Antivrus scans on all my PDFs and found no problems with them.

    Hi Michael,
    Thank you for your suggestion. I did uninstall both, and reinstall Pro, and restarted my system. However, that did not solve my problem. Thank you though.
    Sincerely
    John M. Shaw
