Restructure Customer Account Groups and Number Ranges

We already have existing customer account groups and number ranges and therefore customer accounts.
We need now to restructure Customer Account Groups incl. number Ranges and Number Range Allocation.
Is this possible? Any advice?
Can a customer keep is old customer number and be assigned to the new customer account group, which has a different number range?
Please adivse.
Many thanks
Petra

Ravi,
thanks very much for your reply. This information is very useful.
Just one more question:
WIth which Customer Number will reallocated customer end up? the originial one or does the customer get a new number relating to the number range of its new customer account group?
Many thanks,
Petra

  • Vendor acct group and number range in the MDC vs MDS

IN MDM 3.0 when a new BP with vendor as role is created via UI in MDS the vendor is created with a generic BP number range in the MDS.  The down stream MDC's all have different vendor account groups with different number ranges assigned in each MDC..  example...
client     type of vend   acct grp      num range
    MDC1      purch vendor     com2      1000000-1999999
    MDC1      acct vendor      act1      2000000-2999999
    MDC2      purch vendor     pur1      2400000-2499999
    MDC3      purch vendor     POV1      3599999-3599999
How does MDS know when it distributes the vendor to the MDC's what account group and number range to create the vendor with in the MDC's.  The MDC cannot change all its existing master data that has been created already with the account groups and number ranges becuase field variants have been established.  Where is this mapping contained MDS or XI and how is it done.

The number range in the MDS is determined by the value in the "Grouping" combo-box.  This combo-box is populated by values entered in IMG activity Master Data Objects -> Business Partner -> Business Partner -> Basic Settings -> Number Ranges and Groupings -> Define Groupings and Assign Number Ranges.  Each value must have an associated number range and one of the values must be defined as the standard grouping in case the user doesn't select a grouping.  This is how numbering occurs in the MDS.  Unfortunately you cannot assign more that one grouping to a new BP.
Now, for the MDCs.  When sending a new BP to an MDC, for example an R/3, there must be an external number range setup in the MDS for that MDC and it shouldn't conflict with any number range in that MDC.
IMG Activity Master Data Exchange -> Central Settings -> ID Mapping -> Make General Settings for ID Mapping allows you to define which number range you want to use for a specific object type in a specific system (e.g. KNA1 (customer) in system R/3_100).
So far this isn't sufficient for you because you have 2 number ranges for MDC1 in your example.
In the IMG activity I just mentionned, there is also a possibility to add an additional parameter which allows you to assign a number range for each unique object-type/system/additional parameter combination.  By putting the account group in the additional parameter field, this allows you to assign number ranges per account group.
What remains to be done is to use this information in the XI Mapping for BP to R/3 Vendor.  The first thing is for the XI Mapping to map the MDS account group to the MDC account group.  Then the XI Mapping must call the MDS to create a new ID-Mapping between the BP and the Vendor.  During this call, the XI Mapping must provide all the usual parameters as well as the account group.  This will ensure that the correct number range will be selected so the correct vendor id will be generated.  This id will then be used in the ID Mapping.
If you need to create the Vendor for multiple account groups, then you will have to implement special logic to map the MDS account group from the BP to the many MDC account groups needed for the Vendor.
    Hope this helps!

  • Vendor/Customer Account Group and Master Records

    Hi Gurus,
Please tell me during implementation Vendor/Customer account groups and Master Records will be prepared by FI Consultants or MM, SD Consultants?
    Waiting for reply
    ThankYOu

    Dear Verma
It is the usual practice that FI consultants should prepare Account group and also maintain General data and Company code date in Vendor/Customer masters. SD and MM consultants are informed by FI to maintain Sales and Purchase organization respectively by SD and MM consultants.
If this helps please reward with points.

  • Change from Internal to External Number range for customer account group

    Hi,
We would like to change the number range assignment for a customer account group from internal to external. The external number range assignment check box is greyed out as a few numbers in the range have already been used up.  We want to do the internal to external assignemnt change, create a customer of a specific number, and revert the range back to internal assignment. Is this possible?
    Appreciate your help.

    Hi,
    Please do the below steps:-
    (1) Go to XDN1 and click on "Maintain status" button. Note down the current status and change the status to zero. Save.
    (2) Again go to SDN1 and click on "Maintain No. Range" button, and change the no. range to external. Save. (if that number range is maintained for multiple years, then make it external for the first yer and for the subsequent years, it will become automatically.)
    (3) Then create your customer with specific number.
    (4) Then go to XDN1 and click on "Maintain No. Range" button, and change the no. range to internal. Save. (if that number range is maintained for multiple years, then make it internal for the first yer and for the subsequent years, it will become automatically.)
    (5) Again go to XDN1 and click on "Maintain status" button. Maintain the current status as the number noted down in step (1) above. Save. (In case number created in step (4) is greater than the number notes in step (1), maintain the number of step (4) in current status.)

  • Relationship between "Account Group" and "GL Acct. number".

I need to create a report that lists the GL Account numbers according to selection screen parameter "Account Group" .
Hi i need to find a way\(tables and fields) between the  "Account Group"  and
    the "GL Account number".
to view "Account Group"  go to transaction "kdh3".
to view GL account number go to transaction FS00.
the GL account numbers and cost centers are identified by the same number.

    Hi guys, thanks for helping
Max, i tried that field, but it provides a different set of data compared to the account groups i get using the "F4" on KDH3
Chandrasekhar, i had a look at the view, but it also does not contain the same account groups as found in KDH3.
I have been stuck on this for a while.
    thanks again

  • Change customer Account Group

    Hi Experts,
We have two different account groups with different number Ranges. When i try to change the customer account group from one to other through XD07 system given the following warning message.
Customer 600021 not in External Sold-to-Party
    - number range 0000100001-0000199999
    Message number F2691
We have tried to change this warning message in to Error message through OBMSG and OBA5
after that also system showing warning message.
Where we do mistake? is there any other process to do the changing message?

    Hi,
If You are trying to change the account group of a customer whose partner function is Sold-to-party.
Changes to the account group and the relevent partner functions only made from lower level to higher level.
    Example:
Sold-to-party cannot be assigned the function of a payer(Higher level to lower level) because you are trying to change the higher level partner function.
Your can assign sold-to-party function to a payer (Lower level to higher level) because you are trying to change lower level partner function.

  • Account group and Account Type.

    Hi all,
Could you please tell me the diferences between <b>GL Account group</b>  (<i>by example cash, expense, revenue</i> ....) which we define in IMG - Financial Accounting - General Ledger Accounting - G/L Accounts - Master Records - Preparations - Define Account Group and <b>Account Type</b> (<i>by example: Vendor, Customer, Material, GL Account</i>) which is in the screen "create account type" IMG - Financial Accounting - Financial Accounting Global Settings - Document - Document Header - Define Document Types ?
    Thank you very much.
    Sylvecast

    Hi
Account Group Controls the Master records. It controls the number range of Master record and Field status group (Supress, Required, Optional and Display) also. SAP follows a Grouping principle all throughout SAP to handle the Master Records that may be in GL, AR AP any thing. See to create a GL Account group you define at OBD4 there itself you assign the Number Range or those groups which also controls Field Staus of GL Master Records. And for Creating AR and AP Master Records you create at OBD2 and Vendor at OBD3 which will also controls Field Status Group of And Number range of Master record. The only difference between GL and AR/AP is assigning of number range. For GL will specify at OBD4 itself but for AR/AP we need to create a number range at FBN1 then assign to AR And AP at OBD2 and OBD3 respectively.
One more thing. Remember only Field Status group of Master recard (OBD2, OBD3, OBD4) only contain Display option but not to Posting Key or Field Satus Group (OB41 or OBC4). I am so specifing becoz I commited this mistake in one interview.
In summary, the account group controls:
    i) The number ranges of the accounts,
ii) The status of the fields in the company code segment of the master record.  Since a chart of accounts contains many different types of accounts, they can be bundled into different "account groups ". Usually one account group bundles
accounts with the same tasks within the general ledger, e. g. cash accounts, material accounts, asset accounts, profit and loss
    accounts,...

  • Difference in P.account groups and Payer

what is the difference between Payer account groups and a payer?
    Plz explain.
    Thanks

A Payer is the individual or company who settles the invoices foa a service or for delivered goods.
    Whereas the account group determines:
Which screens and fields are necessary for entering master data
Whether you can or must make an entry in these fields
How master record numbers are assigned (externally by you or internally by the system) and the number range from which they are assigned
    Which partner functions are valid
Whether the business partner is a one-time customer or one-time vendor.
    Reward if useful.

  • Could you check our source? (To determine the PR type and number range)

    Hello.
We use SRM Server5.5 with Classic Scenario.
We will use the BADI BBP_SC_TRANSFER_BE to determine the PR type and number range according to your recommend.
We have two PR type in R/3.
    1) KGPR
    2) KTR1
As you know that shopping cart has no type. So we add customer field to mapping to R/3 PR type and this field has two values.
    1)     PR01: mapping to KGPR
    2)     PR02: mapping to KTR1
We will use the method GROUP_RQ to determine the PR type.
If customer field is PR01, PR type is determined KGPR
If customer field is PR002, PR type is determined KTR1.
To determine the PR number range, we will use the method GET_NUMBER_OR_RANGE.
If PR type is KGPR, Choose the No key 12
If PR type is KTR1, Choose the No key 16.
    Configuration step:
    1.     Maintain the PR number range in SRM.
No key: 12  (for KGPR) internal NR
    No range: 2520000000 – 2529000000
No key: 16 (for KTR1) internal NR
    No range: 2560000000 – 2569000000
    2.     Maintain the PR number range in R/3
No key: 12  (for KGPR) Ext NR
    No range: 2520000000 – 2529000000
No key: 16 (for KTR1) Ext NR
    No range: 2560000000 – 2569000000
    3.     Assign the PR number range to PR type in R/3
    KGPR – 12 (EXT)
    KTR1 – 16 (EXT)
    4.     Maintain the attribute in SRM
    Document type in R/3
          Add KGPR and KTR1
We developed this logic, but it’s not working.

  • Restrict creation of customers according to account group and sales area.

    Hey Guys,
I have this scenario wherein we have to restrict the creation of customers according to the sales area and account group. Here is an example.
Suppose I have a domestic customer say D01. Account group that I am using for this domestic customer is D001. Sales area is say D001/D1/D1. Now for exports I have E01 as customer. Account group is E001. Sales area is E001/E1/E1.
    Scenario is
I should be able to create D01 only with account group D001 and in sales area D001/D1/D1. Customer D01 should not get created in account group E001 and sales area E001/E1/E1. Now to differentiate export and domestic customers we are using 'D' as a prefix for domestic customers and 'E' for export customers.
Same thing applies for Exports. Customer E01 should only get created with account group E001 and sales area E001/E1/E1.
    Please advise on the same.
    Appreciate a quick response.
    Thanks in advance.
    Z

  • Link Recon account to customer account group

    hi guys,
Where do we link a reconciliation account to the customer account group?
    thanks
    srik.

We do not link recon account to the customer account grp.
    account group controls
    1) the interval for the account numbers
    2) whether the number is assigned internally by the system or externally by the user (type of number assignment)
    3) whether it is a one-time account
    4) which fields are ready for input or must be filled when creating and changing master records (field status) we control the field of recon account from the account group.
we will assign the recon acc when creating a customer master data so that
(When you post to a customer account, the system automatically makes a corresponding posting to the appropriate reconciliation account in the general ledger. This means that it is no longer necessary to transfer the figures from the sub ledger accounts to the general ledger before creating the balance sheet.)
