Result code = -47 share a song to iTunes

I am running garageband 3 on my PowerMac G5 quadcore 2.5Ghz machine w/4Gb of ram. OS 10.4.10. When I go to share a song and send it to iTunes it gives me the error message Result Code = -47, and wont send the song over. If I restart the machine and try again it will work once then if I try to share another song it will give the result code error again. I have run all the updates so everything is current. If it makes a difference I am also running Final Cut Studio, along with alot of various other apps. Thanks for the help ahead of time.

I checked things out and there are no other apps running and it will give the error message after doing on export, no matter what. I tried different users and they all do the same thing. It doesn't even matter which file your are trying to export. So the only file I could think that might be busy is something associated with garageband. I will be looking through the error logs to see if I can find any thing there. Thanks.

I've been around the world trying to set a Preference here, update a Library there, googled every combination of this tale i could think of, searched the Support threads, and Nuthin.
This may be an iTunes problem. I may have messed up my Library. Will totally understand if i need to take my question to the iTunes section.
Just wondering how i can tell GB where to export the song so that it goes to my current iTunes library> Please Help!?

Solved My Own Problem: Garageband doesn't like it when you use ',/,() ,or "&" in the drive or folder names. Sorry, i thought this was resolved back in 1995.

I share a song to itunes that I made in garageband.

I can then use an equalizer and tweek the song and make that equalizer a preset for that song. Will that preset still be inefect when i use that song in imovie11?

I don't believe so. The EQ in iTunes is for playback in iTunes only.
What you need to do, is use an EQ in GarageBand before you Export to iTunes. Then, when you use that song in iMovie, the EQ will be used for your iMovie Project.

Problems with sending songs to iTunes

Hi everyone.
I have GB '11 and iTunes 10.7 running on a Mac Book Pro using Mountain Lion 10.8.2. I have a large music collection which I keep on an external hard drive.
I created a song in GB and tried to send it to iTunes using the "send song to iTunes" command in the "Share" dropdown menu.
GB seemed to go through the motions of creating the mixdown etc.. however it failed to open iTunes or play the file. When I tried to find the song in my iTunes library it was not there. I ended up having to burn the song to a CD, open iTunes then import the song on the CD into iTunes. There must be an easier way - what am I doing wrong??

No, not at all. It just goes through the motions - then nothing.
Is your iTunes library on a remote volume and can there be network problems?
My iTunes library is on an external hard drive connected directly to the MBP via USB2, so there shouldn't be an issue there.
Does te title of the song or artist name contain characters that are not allowed in filenames?
Nope - the song name is "Reunion"
What happens if you try to share the song to a folder on your disk and import it to iTunes?
This works!! If I share the song to my desktop then import it to iTunes from there it appears in my iTunes library on the external HD and successfully plays.

You can't currently transfer content from one account to another account. As long as the tracks are on the computer's iTunes that they use/sync to, and your account is authorised on that iTunes, then they should be able to continue to use them.

"Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023"
These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while accessing iTunes Store:
See iTunes 9: "One Moment Please" or "Error (-50)" message when accessing iTunes Store
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
Mac OS X:  ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
Windows Vista:  \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\

No, you can't use them through the wifi store itself. If I remember correctly you have to add them to your account through iTunes, then you can purchase the music and it will automatically use them.

Bad http result code 501 when submitting a validated feed to iTunes

I have a podcast feed that I've validated at http://validator.w3.org as well as http://www.feedvalidator.org. Both tests say that my feed is valid. When I try to submit the feed URL to iTunes, I get the response: "We had difficulty reading this feed. Bad http result code: 501". Any suggestions as to what I'm missing?

Although your feed validates, and can be accessed in a browser and subscribed to in iTunes - and also the media files are correctly hosted on a server which can handle byte-range requests (a required facility) - the server hosting your feed is for some reason unable to handle requests specifically from the iTunes Store. This situation has arisen before but no obvious solution has been suggested (one poster with a similar problem found that it was a permissions issue on the server). This is something you will need to take up with the people running your server - their logs may possibly give some indication of what the problem is.

to Itunes as a compressed file
Try to save to iTunes uncompressed - if you uncheck the "compress" option, the file will be exported in aiff-format, CD quality. The file size will be larger, but your slideshow will have a better soundtrack.

Garageband crashes upon share song to itunes

Whenever I do "share song to itunes" the progress bar goes thru and just when it is done, GarageBand freezes and I have to force quit it.

I followed your advice and it works just fine… for ONE MIXDOWN! Then the problem begins all over again.
All of Apple's claims to have developed a "stable" and "reliable" OS are starting to ring hollow. I am reluctant to spend more money for iLife '08 and the next MacOS because this sort of stuff happens too often, despite the upgrades and patches, and I don't get much help from Apple.

Can only do 1 Share to iTunes from Garageband; on second time get a -47. Have to Log Out or Restart.
Repairing permission and loggin out, same result, 1 export only.
Deleting all the iTunes and GB plists, same result.

Best way to completely share iPhoto, iMovie and iTunes between 2 users?

I want to set up my new brandnew iMac (2.66 Intel Core 2) running Leopard the following way: Two accounts (for me and my wife) on the same iMac, no external drive. We want to completely share iPhoto, iMovie and iTunes libraries in a shared folder on the hard disk. That means we need full read, write and edit access to all files and subfolders in this shared folder. We will not use these libraries at the same time.
*What's the best way to do this?*

(On our old/current system (Panter), achieving this was quite tricky thing! A posting by Scott Radloff explained step by step how to use Netinfo, then Terminal and finally TinkerTool. I hope it's easier now!)

Sharing the iPhoto library via the Shared Folder cannot be done in 10.5.
There are two ways to share, depending on what you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc. then:
Quit iPhoto in both accounts
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to an external HD set to ignore permissions. You could also use a dmg.
In each account in turn: Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting dialogue, select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new library location. From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.
