Results of iPad 2 camera & Adobe flash research

I have tested the front and rear cameras on the iPad 2 at my local Best Buy and they are indeed marginal in quality at taking stills; having said that, so is the camera on my Macbook Pro.  As far as Adobe Flash is concerned, Apple's iPad sales unit says Flash doesn't work on any Apple devices, even though I have it installed on my Macbook Pro.  At any rate, Adobe's Wallaby claims to bridge the gap for Flash on iPad 2.  I now am considering if I should go ahead and purchase an iPad.

"No, they don't. They say it does not work on any iOS device. And the reason it doesn't work is because Flash for iOS does not exist. It has not been developed by Adobe."
When I phoned the iPad sales unit at Apple the other day, the gentleman I spoke with said to me that flash doesn't work on any Apple device; he was quite adament about that fact.  When I mentioned that I had it installed on my macbook pro, he seemed incredulous.  He indicated that he didn't work on the mac side and that's what he had been told.
"Both of the issues you mention are wll known and well documented. What is your technical support question?"
"Since you have concerns about the camera and Flash, please don't buy an iPad."
Two address the last two replies, the reason I went to Best Buy to test an iPad 2 was to address the two concerns I had about the product-the camera and the flash.  Since the camera is quite adequate for Facetime and likely also for Skype, that's perfectly fine with me; my camera on my macbook pro is the same quality.  For the flash issue, my concern was with YouTube videos, which I have found out that I can download if need be and view with the VLC player.  The reason for the post itself was to share my observations about testing the iPad 2 at Best Buy and see what my fellow posters thought.
In closing, I wish to say I didn't want to offend anyone who has already purchased this product and likes it.  I realize that no product is perfect, not Apple or any other manufacturer.  I think the iPad would serve my needs admirably, particularly since I do a lot of business-related travel.
Thank you all for listening to my thoughts on this topic; I appreciate it.

  • Do ipads have adobe flash player?

I was wondering if ipads have adobe flash player like you canplay in the internet and watch videos without it being apple before i actually buy an ipad,

@ElGatoNegroXIII The iPad do not run (native) Adobe Flash and Apple made the best decision for performance and security. Apple is pushing the future of the Web and the name is HTML5.
@fanboy512 The sites are not changing to be iOS compatible, is also changing for ALL devices that are HTML5 capable like most modern Android and Windows Phone 7 devices, not just for iOS devices.
One single example from many is Adobe just announced HTTP Live Streaming (a protocol developed by Apple) to the Adobe Flash Media Server so all iOS or any HTML5 device including the Motorola Xoom can stream Live or On Demand video using this Media Streaming protocol when Flash is not available. There is a video by Adobe demonstrating this on both the iPad and Xoom.
I'am a web developer and I and tell you this is going to the right direction.

  • I have lost track of the number of websites that do not work properly on the iPad without Adobe Flash player which is unsupported. I cannot use retail sites, billing sites and most important of all job application sites. All are missing tabs, links, info

I have lost track of the number of websites which do not work properly on my iPad. They include retail sites, billing sites and most important of all job application sites. They all seem to require Adobe Flash Player which cannot be downloaded onto an iPad. Skyfire does not solve the problem. They all load without vital parts of the site such as tabs, links and correct formatting. Any suggestions?

Most such brower/service combinations have a difficult time working with Flash-based apps and often fail completely. Flash videos are usually the most successful content these browers can handle. You can try the others apps - Puffin, iSwifter, etc - but you may find that none of them work, in which case you will not be able to use your iPad with these sites other than by using one of the various remote control solutions to take over a computer running the full Flash Player.
IMHO, any developer that built a Flash application for a billing or job application site was an idiot, but I know that's out of the control of anyone but the relevant company.

  • I can't get videos to play on safari on my IPad without adobe flash player

I can't get my iPad to play videos on safari without using adobe flash player?

Flash is not supported on the iPad - and as Adobe have announced that they are stopping development on all mobile versions of it, it probably never will be.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter, Puffin and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store.

  • Why doesn't iPad allow adobe flash player?

Why does Mac support Adobe Flash Player, but iPad doesn't? And are they working on compatibility?

iPads and Mac computers are different hardware and software platforms.
No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash. Adobe is not providing Flash for Apple iOS devices, and they no longer provide Flash for any other cellular phones. Flash is officially gone.
Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
A sample of Apps that can display some Flash content:
      1. Puffin
      2. SkyFire
      3. Photon Flash
      4. Browse2Go
      5. Swifter
Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."

There is no way to download anything onto an iPad - the only way is through iTunes and the store. if the programme is not in the store, it cannot work on the iPad.

Correct - the press has been going on about the iPhone & iPad not having Flash for about two years now. It will never have it - there are many threads explaining the reasons here in the forums. Just use the search facility top righ for 'flash'.
I am afraid you will never be able to use that site on the iPad unless they move to an open standard, along with Youtube, Facebook, Hulu etc.

  • Safari will freezes on live cam, adobe flash player?

I got my macbook replaced with the latest Macbook Pro 13"
From then on, when trying to load a site http://www.321lively.com/general-chat.php with a other users and a camera, when you click the button, safari will freezes and the only thing you can do is right click and this shows,
    "Movie Not Loaded"
"Adobe Flash Player .""""""""""""." And so on.
My old Macbook worked find with this.
I reinstalled adobe flash player, I fixed permissions, I downloaded firefox, this all didn't work, then I downloaded Google chrome and that worked for about 2 days then the same problem is persisting.
    Running
    Safari 5.1
    OSX 10.7.1
    Please help me.

Macs now do not ship with Adobe Flash installed. Did you buy your Mac with Lion or is your Mac the previous generation?  You have to do the installation yourself.  Click Get Adobe flash player.

  • What happened to iPad 2 adobe flash this weekend?

    I have been watching the
progress of an Audubon project on Repopulating puffins on an island in Maine via a live webcam. This weekend I can't receive the feed in my iPad, but can on my iMac. What gives?

Adobe, the developer of Flash Player, has chosen not to develop a Flash app for Apple's iOS devices.

  • How do I get adobe flash player on my ipad to play movies?

I received a free movie from flixster and unltraviolet.  Ultraviolet says my ipad needs adobe flash player to watch the movie.  What do I need to do to watch that movie?

You cannot download Flash to the iPad so that movie will not work on the iPad. Look at the box on the right >>>More like this - and you can read all about Flash on iDevices.

  • Adobe flash player?

How can i watch hulu etc on iPad without adobe flash player? Can i get AFP?

    That's not entirely true.
With Android mobile you have the option to download apps from anywhere.
XDA offers tons of third party apps, like 3rd party Flash Players that allow for watching HULU and such.

  • Firefox crashes after adobe flash 11 upgrade

I have Win7 (64). My Firefox 14.0.1 was working find with Adobe Flash 10. When Firefox upgraded to 15.0.1 and simultaneously upgraded to Adobe Flash 11. Now Firefox crashed as soon as I go to a site with Flash content (like cnn.com or youtube.com). As soon as I uninstall Adobe Flash completely, Firefox starts to respond again (but of coarse without displaying any Flash contacts as it was uninstalled). I even tried downgrading back to Firefox 14.0.1 and reinstalled Adobe Flash 11, and I get the same crashing results. As well as the same results when I uninstall Adobe Flash (meaning that is responds again, but without displaying Flash content). I also tried the same sequences in safe-mode, but still have the same issues.
I am seeing lots of posts regarding trouble with the new Adobe Flash 11, but no definative solution. Can someone please assist me with this. Or at least instruct me on how to downgrade back to Adobe Flash 10. Their site is not clear on how to do this.
    Thanks
BTW - I have a second computer that is a complete cloned image of this machine (the only difference is the hardware setup is different, with different respective drivers). This second computer is not having any problems with Firefox 15.0.1 and Adobe Flash 11. Can this problem be caused by a hardware issue?

    Hi gguevara,
First try to [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems#w_turn-off-hardware-acceleration Turn off hardware acceleration] in Firefox and "disable the hardware acceleration" in the Flash Player too :
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html
also try to [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Disabling_Protected_Mode_in_Flash_11.3 Disabling Protected Mode in Flash] (the link is for 11.3, do the same for 11.4), see the same in "Last resort" in the next link from adobe forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071?tstart=0
Finally if you still have crashes you must [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-crashes#w_step-2-install-flash-10-3 download and Install Flash 10.3] '''but first''' '''''uninstall''''' your current version [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-crashes#w_step-1-uninstall-flash with adobe uninstaller program] .

  • Is there a product like adobe flash that's for my iPad?

Is there a product like adobe flash that's for my iPad?

Not that I'm aware of unfortunately. Also Flash isn't as popular as it once was, especially with the advent of HTML 5.  If in doubt try a Google search for 'alternative to flash for iPad' there are a few results by the looks of things.
    Regards.
