ResultSet inconsistency
Has anybody seen this before. If I create a simple ResultSet of a table (SELECT t.* FROM t) with a statement being created with TYPE_FORWARD_ONLY and CONCUR_UPDATEABLE. Then if I call moveToInsertRow and update some col values, insert the row everything works fine.
However, the inconsistency occurs if I analyze the data in the resultset by moving through all of the data and then call the moveToInsertRow, the next updateXXX routine produces the exception:

Do frequent Logical Commits will make large updates/inserts not to fail (besides the performance issues).
What you have is a long query failing from frequent updated table,
In any point while the query is running, some rows get updated, making the resultset inconsistent.

If that's the case then this should help.
Workaround:
Try splitting the data you are retrieving. ( by Date for instance).
If you are retrieving a whole year get it month by month instead.

Comparing data in different resultsets
Hi everybody!
I am working on an web application involving some EAI, as a requirement i need to compare data from two different sources (databases to be precise) and fill a XML based on certain rules. I wish to know if there is a way to compare two ResultSet objects (with almost similar data) directly, or the only way to do is compare each value seperately.
Also please suggest from efficiency point of view if its viable to store data from resultSet to a certain struc kind of object and then comparing, as it would involve lots of overhead compared to directly comparing the two resultsets.

Abhisheki have to compare various columns of each row and assign flags in output xml as to note if data is inconsistant, though i am taking measures so as to get the rows in the same order in both result sets, but the primary purpose of this comparison is indeed to check data integrity between both the sources.

Inconsistent behaviour of the response
Hi Everyone,
We have a very weird problem here. Our application is a servlet based app using iPlanet Enterprise 4.0 application server. The servlet response acts very inconsistent when we try to change the response type from text/html to something else in the application(to res.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel") for example). Sometimes it works but most of the time instead of opening results in MS Excel, output is being rendered as an HTML.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Scrollable & updatable resultset in oracle
I use Oracle 9.
In my GUI I have navigation buttons and insert, delete, update buttons.
When I insert a person, it is not visible in the resultset when I navigate immediately after the insert. When I close the resultset and open it again then the inserted person is visible.
code to insert:
result.moveToInsertRow();
result.updateInt(1,student.getNr());
result.updateString(2,student.getName());
result.updateString(3,student.getEmail());

What is wrong?
Or isn't it possible to see the changes in the resultset?
Thanks!Uncommitted changes are only visible to the connection that made those changes; to everybody else, they haven't happened yet and won't until the commit occurs, when they all happen "at once". This is by design, to prevent other transactions from seeing an inconsistent view of the data. There is no way around this.
Some databases allow you to change transactionailty such that uncommitted changes are available to the session, but Oracle does not and probably never will.
Also, by default, Oracle gives you "read consistency" on your transaction; imagine you have a web application that accepts orders from regular customers. Instead of paying by credit card each transaction, they pay by check at the end of the month. You want to record each new order and display total balance due for that account. Part of the process might be:

VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?)
SELECT sum(order_value) FROM purchase_history WHERE acct_nbr = ?

But what if 2 users make orders "at the same time"? Without "read consistency", the guy making the $5 order might see the balance increase by $2,000, and the guy making the $2,000 order will wonder where the extra $5 came from. They probably both call support and complain...

I'm getting desperate for a solution to this problem (as is the rest of the development team!).
Basically we've been trying to create a system that automatically assigns values (frequencies) to objects (nodes) based on a rule set. Each node contains a varying number of sub-objects (radios) and each radio needs one frequency. The database has been set up and has test data for our Solution class to go through. However, we've run into an odd problem where our ResultSets are suddenly closing.
The classes work like this:
Database Broker (handles connection to DB, as well as executeQuery and executeUpdate statements.)
Entry Broker (Holds all SQL statements for data retrieval in various methods. Each method contains an SQL statement to access data, and code to format that data into something useable by the main class.
Solution/Main class (Contains methods to use the data from the Entry Broker to test valid solutions. Certain rules apply to assigning frequencies to radios and this class ensures that the data applies to these rules before it writes the data back to the DB (via the EntryBroker).
The problem we continually run into is that whilst the ResultSets work fine in the Entry Broker, they are closed when they return to the Main class.
Here's the catch: It seems in most cases that only the FIRST ResultSet returned in each method is closed, the remaining ResultSets work fine. We worked around this problem by creating a 'dummy' ResultSet, which obtained data from the database which was never used (the project name). We put this in its own try catch bracket so it would not interrupt the project.
It worked fine for a few classes, but for others (notably the following one) it was ineffective. We've searched and searched but we cannot find anyone with a similar complaint (except a few people who have commented about ODBC version problems). Our ODBC version is 3.520.7713.0

I'll leave it at that, since the program goes into an endless loop. The dummy Exceptions are our dummy resultsets crashing so the rest can survive. The other stuff is from different methods. You should be able to locate the logic of the program by following the System.outs
Test Markers with EB refer to the Entry Broker.
Any help would be appreciated since we cannot find any other way of running this class successfully.

Basically I was calling one ResultSet after another. Thanks to the Database Broker's structure, this was killing the first ResultSet. I fixed up the loops so that ResultSets were only ever called just before they were needed, and it fixed the problem. The only other errors were simple logic faults which I drummed out in short order. Thanks for the help everyone! -

OPEN_INTERFACE_REJECTS- INCONSISTENT SUPPL SITE
Payables Open Interface Import program is throwing INCONSISTENT SUPPL SITE, when a third party vendor site code and third party vendor site id is passed along with matching PO number for creating an invoice for third party vendor site.
Can any one let me know, how to resolve this issue.

this could be due to passing values which are not correct for the vendor_site_id field ....do compare this transaction with other transactions that are imported successfully past, so that we can narrow down on the data which is different ...

Error while assigning resultset value to Querytable variable in Coldfusion 10
We are upgrading from coldfusion 8 to 10. Internally we were using java function to to get the data.
In java function we have a resultset object, if we assign this resultset value to Querytable variable, we are getting below error. This code was working fine in coldfusion 8.

Help :add multiple rows from Resultset to ArrayList ?
My query returns one column and multiple rows. In Java code , I am trying to get this data in array or arraylist through ResultSet
ex:
item_num
p001
p002
p003
when I print, it only gets the item in the first row.
ArrayList myArrayList = new ArrayList();
resultset = preparedstatement.executeQuery();
if (resultset.next())
myArrayList.add(new String(resultset.getString("item_num")));
Print:
for (int j = 0 ; j < myArrayList.size() ; j++ )
System.out.println((String)myArrayList.get(j)); --this prints only the first item.

How to get resultset from procedure having dynamic select sql query ?
Hi,
I have created a procedure, in which there is dynamic select query. The procedure has one out put parameter which gives error code. When I compile that procedure it compiles successufully. When I run it it executes successfully and gives output error code. But I don't know how to get resultset of that dynamic select sql query. I need that.

SAP System inconsistency for Inbound delivery / MIGO and a "sap note"
Hello Friends ,
After following SAP instruction on how to remove the inconsistency between posting GR through MIGO (Inv. mang.) and the reflection of the goods movement status in the inbound delivery document - done that using sap note 570991
the problem is that the system start behaving in a weird way throwing unjustified Error messages for any suggested goods receipt using MIGO with reference to inbound
for example after creating an inbound delivery document and trying to post it via migo , an error will pop up
- Inbound delivery storage location cannot be changed to here Message no. VLA316
the thing is i didn't even maintain any storage location entry up to that point and yet i cannot post any stock !!
also another error like
- Inbound delivery batch cannot be changed to *** here
which doesn't make any sense because there is not batches in the inbound document !!
i think this behavior is coming from the "Document Flow Update for Stock Postings" inbound indicator at the shipping parameter at client level customization

The messages you mentioned were introduced to avoid inconsistency between inbound delivery and IM, through the note: 1050944 - GR for inbound delivery using inventory mgmt as of ECC 6.00
If the messages are issued incorrectly, then you may check for SAP notes (I couldnt find anything relevant) or raise an OSS ticket to SAP.

Two different Resultsets for the same query (running at the same time)
I am using the Thin Driver for Oracle 8.1.6. I am invoking queries in multithreading mode (each thread has his own connection to the oracle DB). If i am invoking the same SQL-Statement in two different threads nearly at the same time, only the ResultSet of the first query is complete. The ResultSet of the second query is not complete (the number of tuples differs each time I run the program). Principally the two ResultSets should be the same (no changes are done at the same time in the DB), but they are not.
Anybody knows this problem and knows how to solve it? Principally read accesses on DBs should not make such trouble ...

Closing Statements and ResultSets
I just recently realized that you need to close Statements and ResultSets in order to avoid getting the "Too many cursors"-message.
My question is:
Do you need to close both Statements and ResultSets?

Does it matter which one you close first?I usually place the stmt.close() code in my finally block, to ensure that the statement gets closed, even if a SQLException occurs during the query/update. The ResultSet does not explicitly have to be closed, ... it is automatically closed when the Statement is closed, or if a new query is run on the same statement.

Closing PreparedStatements & ResultSets
Is it necessary to explicitly close ResultSet AND PreparedStatement objects when used together? For example:

Note: A Statement object is automatically closed when it is garbage collected. When a Statement object is closed, its current ResultSet object, if one exists, is also closed.
