Resume menu functions in dvdsp

i am using dvd studio pro 3
i am designing a menu that specifically needs a button that will resume the film from where it left off. if the user click the menu button on their remote control, it loads the menu like normal, but i want there to be a button that says "resume film" and it will continue playing from where it was left off from.
any suggestions, they'd be greatly appriciated.

Create a button in that menu. Type Resume Film in the text field of the button inspector and set Resume as the target for that button. Page 236 & 500 in your manual.

  • How to control DVD player menu functions in DVDSP

I have built a DVD with DVDSP and have everything working as intended except for one thing.
When I press the Home button on the DVD remote, it goes to the DVD player's menu and shows a DVD icon, then when I select the DVD icon, it shows the title list with 4 titles:
    1. Warning (which has all User functions disabled)
    2. Chapter 1
    3. Warning (which I don't understand because there is only 1 warning track)
    4. Menu
I want to set this so when selecting the DVD icon you are directed to the DVD's main menu, and it doesn't display the title list at all.
Just to give more info, the way the DVD is set up is: In the DVD remote function area, I have my title, Menu and Return buttons all routed to my main menu.
There are 4 menus (Home, About, and 2 chapter menu pages), 4 tracks (First play = .25 sec Black which end jumps to a Warning and disclaimer track which end jumps to another .25 seconds of black which jumps to main menu. These have all user functions disabled. The 4th track is the main video with 16 chapters). There are no scripts.
I have tried this with many store bought DVDs and they behave differently. Most show a DVD icon then when that icon is selected, it goes to the main menu screen. Others behave by showing each chapter as a title after selecting dvd icon.
Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you so much in advance!
Attached are 2x diagrams, how the dvd is currently acting, and how i'd like it to.

Finally, something new here lately!   (well, besides the new look)
In my 13 1/2 years working with DVD Studio Pro (starting back when it was 'simultaneously' Astarte DVDirector and Spruce Maestro) I've never seen a workflow that included the DVD player's system menu as a navigational component in the flow chart for a functional DVD.
    Hi T20,
First of all, are you sure you want to know the answer to this?
The area you bring up is almost a 'blue pill / red pill' kind of thing, or choosing to turn into a 'grasshopper'..., or something like that. Definitely a rabbit hole.  But if you're working for paying clients and are going into mass distribution, i.e., replication, then your question brings up a precisely the kind of multiply connected DVD specification components that are crucial to understand; especially working with an authoring system like DVD Studio Pro.
Of course, if you're good at following directions and would have the trust enough to carry out the successful experiment, then it could be a one-and-have-fun-getting-it-done operation...with full understanding of what just happened reserved for a later date.
Though, to answer your question fully here would take some doing.
Here's what I'm willing to share on this public board about the matter: The short answer would be to remove all of your warning material from the Title Domain in the VTS Spaces, i.e., eliminate the warning clip / black frame Tracks. You should have one Track in your project, according to the intent of the DVD Specifications for your project type.
Important Note: Putting a short duration warning or black frames in an entire VTS is a "best practice" promulgated for years out there that has gotten a lot of good authors in trouble in many types of players; errant navigation, player crashes, disc recalls, etc., and should not be done. In most cases, nothing should be put in a Track that you would not want the viewer to be able to Resume to; and more importantly, the DVD Studio Pro abstraction layer authoring system can not afford to have the first VTS 'wasted'. Real program content with video and however many audio and subtitle streams should reside in the first VTS for all DVD SP projects (more DVD Spec kinda stuff to go over the reasons why).
Once your project is setup optimally, then it's a matter of understanding the DVD Specification "Stopped State" and what both happens and what you want to happen afterwards; which depends on where you were when you got into the stopped state and other factors.
The below page images (unreadable, but to show there's quite a bit to it) are from the official DVD Specifications for Read Only Discs - Part III VIDEO SPECIFICATIONS.  The page image on the left starts the several page section in the DVD Specifications devoted to what's allowed for navigation commands between domains - and what navigation commands and (unfortunate) circumstances cause playback to go into the "5th domain" - the stopped state.  The Image on the Right starts the section in the specs for what happens and what's allowed by the remote control user operations (UOPs) between domains, including from the Stopped State.
The player will use what's allowed by spec in the UOPs to take you out of its setup menu and into the chosen target in the various domains. Though, I have found several players that pretty much do what they want in this regard, as well, but my method takes care of them, too (what player model are you using, may I ask?  I have over 200 players here, and might have that guy).
The somewhat challenging part is working with DVD SP's abstraction layer auto-programming so as to anticipate this revival of playback from the Stopped State - which never occurs from the authored First Play PGC, as well as player variances with options they allow from their system menus.
So an adjusted startup First Play program routing (looks kinda 'weird' in the DVD SP project interface) would then handle a chosen Menu to play from that players system setup screen, whether the viewer chooses the "Menu" or the one remaining "Title" option. It took me 3 years to figure this out, but has been working flawlessly for hundreds of replicated titles since the fall of 2006.
Good question, t20. It takes quite a bit to get me out my 'bat cave' these days. Also, I'm about to start up my old "TFDVD.com" DVD SP support site again soon (adding Scenarist Professional support), this time under what I hope to be a true "DVD Producers Guild", and it's great to see some of this kind of 'life' still out there!
My first major article for the new site is tentatively entitled "The Most Perfect DVD Startup Action" and I will, in 'excruciating detail', cover not only the many reasons a discs startup strategy is crucial, and how to implement the DVD Specification and DVD player experience based startup principles for various types of DVD Projects, but also how to keep control of navigation during startup from the Stopped State in players.  This article will have illustrated specific instructions for the DVD Studio Pro and Scenarist Professional authoring systems (Note to my good 'little monsters' from back in the day; this is not the same article from my 2001 article with a similar name).

  • Menu Functions at user/reponsibility level - URGENT

I need to query Menu functions for the particular user/ Reponsibility. User and Reponsibility are the two input parameter for the reports. I'm selecting the values for the menu from the Fnd_Menu_entries for a particular responsibility.
I need to filter for user also. Kindly let me know how to and which table to join to get the menu functions for particular user.

    Hi,
Assign ECC connector to SAP_ECCS_LG group.
Run the programs GRAC_PFCG_AUTHORIZATION_SYNCand GRAC_REPOSITORY_OBJECT_SYNC) in full synch mode(this might take time so better do this in background). Better do it sequentially.Check the logs of the jobs in SLG1 just to ensure everythings fine.
Run ARA for a specific user and mention the connector for faster output. Ensure this user has the role with risks. Also as explained earlier check the GUID against user id in table GRACUSERROLE and using GRACROLE you can find out the technical name of the role updated in the table. This should be same as the backend role.
Then run ARA and while doing so please ensure the selection screen doesnt have any unwanted default inputs. If followed correctly , this should be of help.  I am assuming the role analysis yielded correct risks as configured since this would mean that connector have correct actions and basic config is in place.

    Vivek

  • Role Menu/Function using BAPI

In an effort to integrate a customers two products, I am trying to list out all of the roles and menus assigned to a role using JAVA/JCO and BAPI.
Is this relationship well defined enough to use RFC_GET_TABLE_ENTRIES?  I can get a list of the role names from AGR_DEFINE (or V_AGR_SINGL, V_AGR_COLL) , but the menu/function table is not as obvious.   I noticed the ARG_HIERT table, which look like it has the textual names of the menus. I was thinking I'd get back an ID of a object instead of the textual representation. Or is this not recommended?
Additionally, is there any iterative approach that can be used when listing objects (like roles) where the number of objects is in the 10's of thousands?  The only way I can see now is to fetch all of the names from a view that has only the names, then for each one make a separate call to get the details.
I see there are some nice APis in the com.sap.security.api package, but those will require I have an application living on the J2EE side of SAP and I would like to prevent that if at all possible.
    Thanks,
    Donny

    Thanks for your help.
PRGN_ACTIVITY_GROUPS_LOAD_RFC has some good data in it I can use, however the one piece of information that I am after is the TCODES assigned to a role.
The information that is contained in the AGR_TCODES table.
Is there a remote function/program I can call that given the name of the role will return all of the tcodes assigned to the role?
    PRGN_READ_TRANSACTIONS_ONE_AGR
    and
    PRGN_1221_READ_TRANSACTIONS
Are exactly they type of thing am after, but they cannot be used for 'remote' calls.
    Thanks again,

I need help how to create menu function for link to access file and allow user to save the file when click on it.
The file will keep inside server.AFAIK, you have to write a custom code to achieve this and Oracle does not provide this functionality.

  • DVD Menu Functions in iTunes and on iPad?

I'm trying to create the functionality of a DVD menu but in a format supported in iTunes, and further, on the iPad.
I've got a project that I'd like to format that requires me to have a menu of tracks (different content) and I'd like to be able to use my iPad to access and view it. For  example: the opening menu would have different titles that if selected would take you to the connected assets (Content). Once the content is done playing it takes you back to the main menu. This would be much the same way DVDs include extra scenes and what not...
Anyone now what software I could use to create functionality. I've built all the menus in Apple Motion, and A. Photoshop. The DVD export/formatting makes everything look like crap as a result of the rendering and codec and just overall poop that happens between content creation, rendering, and final output.
I'm wondering if I can have the clean lines I see in Apple Motion and QuickTime, but with the menu functions with connected assets, but do it all through iTunes, iPad, or ATV.
Any thoughts? Pardon the double post if this has been asked before. I've looked and can't find anything.

    Try this...

Might not be the answer you want, but it is probably the one you need.
    Good luck!!

  • Search menu function is not working

    Hi
Search menu function is not working in one of my HRMS 9.1 (PT: 8.52.09 application.
Verity installed and executed the build registry search index aswell.
Please let me know if I miss something on configuring the search menu function.
    Thanks
    Soundappan

Personally I did not have to make any psappsrv.cfg changes for this particular 9.1 env or any other changes that I can remember. Is PS_HOME = PS_CFG_HOME though?
If you didn't specifically set PS_CFG_HOME to PS_HOME it defaults to something like $HOME/psft and the files would need to be there instead.
If you run psadmin what's it show as the Config Home?
    If I unset PS_CFG_HOME i get
    PSADMIN -- Tools Release: 8.52.07
Copyright (c) 1996, 2011, Oracle. All rights reserved.
    PeopleSoft Server Administration
Config Home:  /home/psoft/psft/pt/8.52And the files would need to be there rather than $PS_HOME/data/....
Now you could override that in your psappsrv.cfg file with
EMPLOYEE=PS_HOME/data/search PS_HOME I dont think can be used here as a variable... it needs to be the full path. the location here must lead directly to the EMPLOYEE directory
In 8.52 there are also some alternatives to this older style above.
See this peoplebook for 8.52 http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28394_01/pt852pbh1/eng/psbooks/tsvt/book.htm?File=tsvt/htm/tsvt10.htm%23g037ee99c9453fb39_ef90c_10c791ddc07_102b for details.
In the past I've used shares or nfs mounts to have the process scheduler write directly to the appserver. But you could check out the new search server option too.
    Let me know.

  • No menu function?

Hiya i have an apple 160GB & bought a dock a while back for my old 80GB, i use a jack out on the back off the dock going into my stereo, but on the remote i dont have the menu function?
I can play skip pause & volume but no menu function?
Does the dock have to be plugged into a computer via the main output/usb cable for the menu function to work?
Thanks in advance for any help
    Message was edited by: chronic2

The menu function on the remote supplied with the dock doesn't work with the iPod. It's for use with Frontrow on a Mac. Apple have simply used the same remote supplied with a Mac for the iPod.
As such, a lot of folks are disappointed when they find the menu doesn't work.

  • Menu function exists in MyFaces, not in JSF?

When I search the forum, some people ask for the component of menu, the direction goes to MyFaces.
Is it true that only MyFaces supply with menu function, JSF doesn't?
I am in the dilenma of using myfaces and jsf!

    Hi,
Did you attach the responsibility itself to the Role through ADD Node in the role update screen. If you look at how USER Management responsibility defined , that can give you an idea. The Security Administrator Role has the User Management Responsibility added as a node. So if you want any iser to access the USER Management responsibility indirectly through the role , that role needs to be provided. If the User Management Role directly provided to the user without the role , you get the same error message what you are getting it.
If I am correct ( based on the seeded role Oracle designed ) , the role can not stand alone without being attached a responsibility to it . You can add further grants directly to the role. Correct me if my concept is wrong.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Resume function in DVDSP perfect, unless no video has been played yet

    Hi all,
I'm trying to use the Resume built in DVDSP 4(1.2.). It;s perfect, saves hassling with scripts as I have a play all menu and chapter buttons menu. Except, when the viewer hasn't played any video at all, it goes directly to the setup menu and clikc 'resume'. Then the player gets stuck, because there's nothing to go back to. So, is the only solution scripting? Or could I place a .5 second black video that playes as first play? But then resume would go back to that? Any suggestions?
    Paul Delcour

.5 second black video as a first play is an old and highly recommended trick of all Hollywood DVD authors. This is a DVD-Spec thing. You can only resume to a video that has already played.
