Resume playback of last position of shuffle

Is there a way to make this thing (30 gig video) resume playback of shuffle position?? every time I plug it in to the PC to recharge or sync it, it looses place and I have to start all over with shuffle and due to the lack of randomize and random function I end up listening to the same 100 songs (give or take a few new ones but mostly the same random bunch) and not the other 1500 songs, and Yes I set the shuffle function in itunes, and yes its updated??

Ya, when you sync to the computer it will dump you out of whatever you were playing so no, there is no way to get back to the same playlist at the same place as you were before.
However you could create a dynamic playlist to help keep you from listening to the same stuff over and over.
Simply create a new Smart Playlist, check live updating, no rules needed up top, then check the box and change the setting for this line...
Limit to ### items selected by least recently played
where the Red items are the ones you can change. The ### one replace with an appropriate number like 200, 500, whatever.
So what happens is as you play stuff they become the MOST recently played and when you stop the iPod and it dumps out of the playlist, when you go back in all those MOST recently played items will have been taken out of the playlist and replaced with different least recently played.
So even though your playlist is starting over again, you won't be hearing anything you heard recently. If you ever play all 200 (or whatever number songs you picked) before syncing or otherwise leaving the playlist, it will go back to the main menu. When you reenter that playlist, it will have been repopulated with a new set of 200 least recently played items.

  • Why can't iTunes resume playback of the last track I played before closing it?

    If Safari can recall the last page I had open when I closed it, and Preview can open the last documents I had open, why can't iTunes resume playback of the last track I played?
    Come on guys, a search on the internet will bring up discussions from the early 2000s with the question of resuming playback. Just add the feature already.

    HI THanks for this helpful post. I will try this. I have 2 iPods. One is 3rd Gen. I love the little small square, so I bought it on ebay. Then I got a little iPod nano ( again a tiny square shape)
    So I tried to sync them today and update them.
    This is the response I got.
      I get a message that the original file cannot be found and asks if I want to try and locate file.  I locate the file and it's empty?!
    This freaked me out because I have all this music I love. The only thumb drive is my back up drive which is not a thumb. Will the back up drive have my music files too?
    Thanks-Peace Out

  • Ipod Nano 7th Gen Audiobook Resume Playback

    Hello, im considering purchasing the new 7th gen nano. I primarily listen to audiobook, however, and I was wondering if the issue regarding resuming playback position has been fixed on this model. The 6th gen model was having trouble remmbering the previos position in the audio book after pausing for long periods, or powering down, or switching media, etc, etc. Earlier nanos did not have this issue, but it came up with the 6th gen, and since the firmware is probably similar in the 7th gen, i wanted to see where things stand. Thanks very much!

    UPDATE:
    Hello, I have recently purhased the 7th generation nano ans I wanted to post my findings regarding audiobook playback and functionality. I know there are audiobook users who, like me, may be hesitaing to get this new nano for the reasons I outlined above.
    In a nutshell I had a 3rd generation nano that was flawless when it came to remembering audiobookmars, sometimes after months of use, the player would begin where I last left off. Then there was extreme problems with the 6th gen Nano, as it would fail to keep a place no matter what one did.
    I am happy to report that so far, 7th gen nano is perfoming perfectly, I have several books, mp3 files (remember to select "remember playback position" in the info options of the file if you want it to get bookmarked) and movie documentaries going and all of them have held their playback position without exception, this is over a period of two weeks. The only test I havent tried yet is complete power loss do to battery drain. And Like my 3rd gen, when I use it in my car, it starts right where i left off.

  • Using MuVo or Nano Plus in car - Resume Playback funct

    I need to use an MP3 player in my car.
    I want an USB connector as ON/OFF switch.
    If I start my car on, the player will resume playback from the last position of the track.
    I have tried Creative Zen Nano 52Mb (not plus) and it will resume playback if I turn USB power on (car on), but.... it will remember the song when I turned it off with the normal OFF funtrion, but not the USB power OFF.
    Any other players can do resume playback after USB power ON?

    When the player powers up on connection to your car USB lead then it is as a removeable dri've NOT as a player which is why it doesn't resume where it was switched off - that is a function of the player.

  • My 2nd genertion Apple TV is not resuming playback that has been paused. Just starts at the beginning . Anyone else seeing this?

    Anyone seeing their 2nd generation Apple TV not resuming after being paused? Mine doesn't offer the "resume playback" just starts the episode over. I Have reset the device, I have unplugged and rebooted. No change . Was working fine 1 month ago.

    The setting you mention are in iTunes on my computer, but the podcasts I am watching aren't stored on my computer. I am setting the few podcasts that are to remember position and will see if that resolves the problem

  • IOS 5 has introduced new Podcast bug, resuming playback

    I use the standard Apple earphones to listen to podcasts, and I almost always trigger playback by pressing the button on the earphones which resumes playback of whatever you were last playing, for me normally the last podcast.
    This used to work fine until the iOS 5 upgrade, and now when i click that button on the earphones, the podcast starts to play but it goes garbled, skips around a bit, plays ormally intermittently for a few seconds then garbles again. This goes on. Even if you pause and resume again. I have to terminate the Music app and start it again to get it working normally again.
    Anyone else experiencing this?

    OK - My wife has an iPhone 4 (NOT S) but and has iOS 5.01 installed, but the lyrics DO change on her phone - we just tried. She however is still on iTunes 10.5.0 not 10.5.1 and she does not have iTunes Match.
    So since someone on another forum indicates that this is happening on their iPhone 4, it must be a problem with iTunes 10.5.1 or else something to do with iTunes Match on the computer (not that I only have iTunes Match on my comuter - I do NOT have it on my iPhone 4S - I am hard syncing), or the combination.
    So if are you using iTuns 10.5.1 and / or iTunes Match on you computer, can you test this? BTW - I'm on Windows 7.

    Any solution????? I am turning crazy bcs I cannot follow any podcast.
    Thks
    Miguel

    Hello Corbella,
    Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like the Podcast App is not saving the playbac position. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.
    Podcasts for iOS: Sync podcasts - Apple Support
    Playback position
    Podcasts can remember your playback position between devices and computers, so you can always start where you left off. If Sync Podcasts is on for your iOS device, playback position will sync. However, you might need to turn on this setting in iTunes on your Mac or PC.
    Select iTunes > Preferences.
    Click the Store tab.
    Select "Sync playback information across devices." It may take a few minutes to sync.
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a nice day,

  • ITunes forgetting "Remember Last Position" setting

    Hi, first post
    Have a problem with iTunes that's only started happening recently. I have put some audiobooks into iTunes, selected them all, right click, Get Info, and tick "Remember Last Position" and "Skip When Shuffling". Click OK, then if I immediately go back into "Get Info" and look again, they've gone back to their default position of not remembering, and not skipping when shuffling.
    If I choose an individual file and try to do the same, those two options are greyed out and can't be changed....which is odd.
    Am I doing something wrong, or does it sound like a bug?
    Thanks in advance

    Those 2 settings are stored in a file named iTunes Library.itl, I'm pretty sure, instead of the actual content file tags.
    I suspect your Win 7 permissions aren't allowing itunes to change it, somehow. Which is really weird, if you can still add music.
    When things are grayed out in the Info screen, it usually comes down to windows permissions. Even if you are the only user and an admin account.
    Make sure you have *full control* and ownership of that file. Here is quick lesson with screenshots on changing permissions, whether you want delete it, or in your case, modify it.
    http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-7/windows-7-how-to-delete-files-protected-by-tru stedinstaller/
    Remember to restart itunes after changing any permissions, so it will read the new settings.
    If it still doesn't let you make changes, try temporarily turning off UAC.

  • Can't insert new row in last position in row set

    I am trying to programmatically insert a new row into the last slot of a View Object's default row set.
    I normally can do this:
    Row newRow = vo.createRow();
    // set stuff on the row
    vo.last();
    vo.next();
    vo.insert(newRow);and, voila, the row is in the last position.
    But on this particualr view object, when I do the above, the row is inserted in the first slot.
    There doesn't seem to be anything unusual about the View object. it is a child Vo in the data model, but that shouldn't matter.
    When I debug with vo.getCurrentRowSlot(), even after performing last(); next();, vo.getCurrentRowSlot() returns 0, never 3.
    Has anyone else run into this behavior and if so, any resolution or explanation?
    FYI, I was able to use the following workaround:
    Row lastRow = vo.last();
    if (lastRow != null){
        int indx = vo.getRangeIndexOf(lastRow) + 1;
        vo.insertRowAtRangeIndex(indx, newRow);
    } else {
       vo.insertRow(newRow);
    }

    would this solve your problem

  • Return to last position after record?

    I have a key command ("return") set to return to last position. The problem is, when I record a take, this function returns me to the beginning of the recorded clip instead of where I actually started from. If i don't record anything, this works fine. How do I get around this? Thanks,
    -RS

    I think the last position is the punch in point. It's a separate locator event from where the place you manually started. So..therefore it takes priority.

    Jon

  • Audiobooks not remembering last position

    I've seen this problem for years in the forums and have never submitted a comment thinking this would be resolved, but at this point I'm so frustrated, might as well resubmit this issue.
    I listen to lots of audiobooks on my iPhone.  Sometimes while listening to an audiobook, maybe I want to press the pause button in order to do something like talk to my wife for a couple minutes.  When I press pause again, to resume my audiobook, the position is no longer in the same place, it may be an hour or so back from where I originally started.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.  I'd say it's about 30/70 that is works.  Now I don't listen to more than one audiobook at a time (or music), so I'm never swtiching between books, I'm just clicking pause.
    Yes, I've verified in iTunes -> Get Info -> Options that the Remember Position = Yes
    Yes, I've read another post that says, if I want to pause, I should press pause, then start another audiobook and let it play for 5 seconds, then it will remember the first pause.
    As a software developer myself, it seems very simple to remember a position when clicking a pause button.  Apple, can you please fix this bug which has existed in your system for several years.
    FYI, I'm using the iPhone 4 on the latest iOS (6.1.3).
    Please, please, please fix this.
    Todd

    I wish it would just work but I found something.
    I found it was happening when I downloaded directly to my phone. I now sync with itunes and delete book from iphone. then move it back to my phone and it works. Ugly but works for me.

  • Remembering last position

    I've added the new Harry Potter CDs to my Ipod, but these consist of over 1000 1 or 2 minutres tracks.
    Is there any way of getting my ipod to remember where I last finished. I ticked "Remember last position" against all, the tracks but this only seems to work on each short track
    Thanks
    Ainsley

    I can think of two solutions.
    One would be to use the program iTunesJoin (can be downloaded from versiontracker.com) to join the tracks from each CD--it will create chapter markers where each original track was. If you have 13 CD's, you could then have 13 long tracks with each track containing chapter markers for the smaller original tracks.
    The 2nd possible solution would be to place the CD tracks in order in a smartlist. Make is so that the smartlist only contained the HP album trakcs, only contained tracks whose playcount was 0, and set to live update. As you listen to a track, it will automatically drop off of the playlist.
    I actually combined these two solutions. Used iTunesJoin so that I wasn't dealing with 100's-1000's of tracks and then used the smartlist so that each CD/track dropped off once I listened to it. Then when I went back to the playlist, it automatically started with the first CD that hadn't hit a playcount of 0 and picked up wherever in the CD/track I left off.
    Hope this makes sense. I know that it sounds kind of confusing.

  • Move resultset's cursor to last position

    Hi, i want to say, if it is possible, what can i do to move the curser of resultset before the last position, because i want to read che last record.
    Thanks and excuse me for my english.
    Daniele.

    Some thoughts:
    1) why do you call next() before last() - it should not be necessary.
    2) you should test the return valiue of last() - if your resultset is empty (no rows retrieved), you get false, and this means you are not on a valid row, so getString() would fail.
    3) Where do you catch the exception - show it to us.
    What do you mean with: "i receice an exception: null" ?
    - What kind of exception? A NullPointerException?
    - print out e.printStackTrace() and post it.
    I assume your driver doesn't support this feature. Which driver is it?

  • DE 1.5 and 1.6 does not store the last position correctly

    Hi!
    I've seen this problem in DE 1.5, now I tried to install 1.6 and I see the problem is still here.
    I have some DRM-protected ebooks on my laptop. I open one of them, read, close on some page (for example, 162). Then I open another ebook, close it. Then I open the first ebook again and the position is 163-th page, not 162. Close and open again, the position is 164. And so on.
    I expect DE should store the last position without any "auto next page" functionality. Could somebody say me what is wrong here? Or, perhaps, this a bug of DE...

  • Zen 300 does not resume playback at same place after shutting down.

    My Zen 300 does not resume playback at the same place in the audio file after the player automatically shuts down (idle shutdown) when I turn the player back on. It returns to the beginning of the track. How can I ensure playback resumes after automatic shutdown?

    GThis is normal for Idle shut down my zen 300 does this to me to. I don't think there is a way to stop it though but if there is then the creative lab support people should be able to help just send them an email.
    By the way does anyone know how to create tasks for the zen 300? I tried with no luck.
