Resyncing the same 239 songs everytime

It looks like this problem has been asked before but I do not see an answer that works yet.
Every time I sync my 160GB ipod classic it always includes the same 239 songs even thought they have not been touched on the ipod or the computer. "I think" this has to do with the dates of the files having different dates for "created" and "modified" at least that seems to be the case for some that I have looked at. I think if I delete these songs from iTunes and then re-add them again the problem will go away....maybe. But is there an easier way?

Do you have an orange line in the bar in itunes? If you do, you have duplicates on your ipod. I found that when you sync ipod and you get the msg: the songs on ipod will be replaced... it does not do it.
If you have an orange line, do this:
click on "my computer"
open your ipod
click on all your songs, movies, etc.
when you find duplicates, you can create another file and move them to that file as backup.
I found movies and songs I thought I had lost.

  • ITunes resyncs the same 934 songs every time I connect my iPod

I am the proud owner of a new iPod Touch. Everything worked well for a few weeks then, after I cleaned up id3 tags, lyrics, and cover art so that albums would show up more correctly, things went awry.
Now, every day, when I plug in my iPod, 934 songs get erased and copied back onto the device. If I unplug and replug it in immediately, this does not happen. The trigger seems to be about 24 hours. The daily resync takes a long time, and if I want to unplug the iPod before it is finished, I end up missing hundreds of songs.
I reset and erased the iPod, but that didn't help.
    Any suggestions?

  • Playlist shuffle always plays the same few songs

I got a playlist that has roughly 250 songs. Everytime I connect my Ipod to charge it, then disconnect and start the playlist on shuffle mode, there's always a 20 to 30 songs playing first. If I close my Ipod and start the playlist again (still on it most of the time), it shows 1 of 250 and plays the same songs, but not in the same exact order (though sometimes it does for 2 or 3 songs). Just like if the shuffle was on "low" mode or something. It's still choose randomly some song here and there, but not that much since it the same few, ALL THE TIME for a while. The only way to get around this is to connect my Ipod to my computer again (it reset it somehow) or leave it open all the time so it knows wich song has been played (but that's terribly stupid). Is there any other way to go around that shuffling loop? I found myself skipping most of the time since I always hear the same few songs even though there's some songs in the playlist I've never ever played on the Ipod. Is there a way to set the "priority" (like play the most higher rated song first) or the "intensity" (from low to high) of the shuffle?
Got the last 7th gen. Ipod Nano.

On the iPod's Now Playing screen, there is a Shuffle button.  The symbol looks like two arrows crossing.  Is that set to ON?
I ask this because shuffing a playlist should NOT always put the same 20-30 songs at the top of the list. Shuffle means a randomly ordered list is created and played.  If the original playlist is in a somewhat random playlist order to begin with, playing it in play-in-order mode may seem like it is shuffling, even though the iPod is playing the list in playlist order.  And the same songs would be at the top of the list every time, because the iPod not shuffling the list.
Sorry if that's too basic, but I need to ask the obvious question first, and that question is, IS is the iPod actually set to shuffle songs?

  • Alert 'There were problems downloading some purchased items' won't clear for the same 6 songs.

Alert 'There were problems downloading some purchased items' won't clear for the same 6 songs (see screenshot). Every time I download something new this alert comes up, yet when I check for available downloads there aren't any (see second screenshot). Also the 6 songs that are being flagged as having problems are already downloaded to my library, so literally it's just the alert/ notification that seems to be stuck. I've tried signing in and out of iTunes, re-installing itunes, re-starting the computer, emptying the cache etc, and but everytime I sign back in or re-open itunes the alert comes straight back up and it's driving me insane.
Can anyone help either clear the alert or stop it so that it doesn't pop up every time I try and download something else??

P.S the error message i got during the download is (err = - 5000)
    Thanks in advance

  • Playlist in shuffle plays only (the same) 5 songs, then stops

One of my playlists in iTunes in shuffle plays the same 5 songs (out of 83) and then stops. If I uncheck those 5, and start with another, it plays that song and stops. I've tried deleting the playlist and recreating it, both in Smart form and not, all with identical results. I've tried unchecking and re-checking songs, no help. Putting the playlist on "Repeat all" does not help (it just repeats the 5). Playing without shuffle works fine.
My other playlists seem to be fine. Thanks for any ideas!

    Select all the songs.
Right click - get info. Tick *Skip when shuffling* and set to No then Apply.

I have a genre section 'Christmas' with around 130 songs on my classic ipod, but when I set it to play it only plays 10 songs than stops. I have also copied all of the genre to a new playlist 'Xmas' and the same thing happens with the same 10 songs. How can I fix this problem ?

It pains me to hear about your experience with the Home Phone Connect.  This device usually works seamlessly and is a great alternative to a landline phone.  It sounds like we've done our fair share of work on your account here.  I'm going to go ahead and send you a Private Message so that we can access your account and review any open tickets for you.  I look forward to speaking with you.

  • Itunes shows multiple listings for the same files (songs), help ???

dunno why, but Itunes is showing mulitple listing for my file (songs), is there a way to clean this up instead of going through the list one by one to get rid of the extra listing...?? thank you in advance...

It looks like you have duplicate entries in the library (two entries pointing to the same song file), but you could also have duplicate files.
Add the 'Date Added' column to the library (View Options, Command-J) and sort on 'Date Added'.
If many songs show the same recent 'Date Added' and you didn't actually add them that day, those ones obviously are the duplicates.
Compare a few of those entries with their duplicate ones.
Do they point to the same file? If so, delete the last added ones, but choose 'Keep Files'.
If they point to different files, delete the last added ones and choose 'Move to Trash'
If the above does not help, you might find a useful script at www.dougscripts.com/itunes
Search for "duplicate" to find the appropriate scripts.
You will still have to remove the entries manually though.
    Hope this helps.

  • My Ipod Always Plays the same set Songs - I have many others to select from

I have many songs on my IPod and playlists but when I put the IPod on Shuffle (as I usually do) it always seems to play from a small list of these songs and doesn't seem to shuffle through the whole playlist or library.
All songs are checked in my ITunes library.
All songs will play, but Shuffle will not select them all. I don't know why but it always seems to use the same 50 to 75 songs.
Is there a setting or some control which would limit the songs used in Shuffle?
I don't know how to solve this. What should I be looking for? Can you help?
    Thank you.

Are you going into the Songs menu to play songs in Shuffle mode? If not, then which ever menu you are using (artists, genre, composer) will not have all your songs in it.
Another reason why songs may not play in Shuffle mode is because the songs are set to *Skip when shuffling.* Try this test; put the iPod in shuffle mode (do not start shuffle from the Main Menu), play a song and look at the 1 of X number below the artist info. Note the X number. Now turn off Shuffle and check the X number again. If it increases, then those extra (new) songs are set to *Skip when shuffling* and you will need to change them in iTunes and Sync the iPod to iTunes. (Select the song in iTunes; *File/Get Info/Options* and make sure the box named *Skip when shuffling* does not have a tick in it. If it does, that's the problem.

  • Is there a way that you can keep the same checked songs when transefering all your music to a different computer?

ive just got a new computer and installed ITunes. ive brought all my music across from the old computer but when ive added it to I tunes it has checked all the songs. is there a way you can uncheck all the songs you don't want (same as previous computer) or do you have to go through and manually uncheck all the songs you don't want on the I pod??

When you copied the music from your old computer you should have included the iTunes database (iTunes Library.itl) as well as your media files - this is the structure (normally in C:\Users\username\Music) that you should copy from old to new:
If you only copied the media, and not the database file, try doing so now (without iTunes running) - the files and folder structures should be the same on your new PC as on your old one.
Then hold down SHIFT while starting iTunes; you'll get this prompt:
Click on Choose Library..., then browse to and select the iTunes Library.itl file that you just copied.  Your library should now be in the state that it was on your old machine, including checked selections.
By the way, using checkboxes against individual songs is a really inefficient way to manage how content is synced to an iDevice.  Its much easier to create a playlist that you can move songs/albums in and out of, and configure your iDevice to sync media from this playlist.

  • Exactly the same dropped frame everytime

    Hi all,
So, I have a 35 minute sequence (PAL) and i am printing to tape.
I'm using a dual g5, with a gig of ram and 3 external HDs (two daisy chained together).
I'm printing to my deck a Sony hdv deck (set to record dvcam, not hdv).
I keep getting a dropped frame as I'm recording to tape at exactly the same point each time. On exactly the same frame.
I have done everything you're supposed to do, but i'm still at a loss.
    any suggestions?

  • If Apple stamps their apps with apple ID's, why not do the same to songs?

You can't share apps and update them without having that person's (the one who originally bought the app) apple ID+password, why is apple leniant about doing this with their songs and so forth?

Apps were created specifically for the App Store, which is owned and managed by Apple.
Songs are the property of those record companies or artists that recorded them, completely separate from the iTunes Store. Apple simply has contracts with those companies that allow for the distribution of those songs. You can sort of think about how you can find song downloads all over the internet and in things like Frostwire, but you'll never find Apps in there.
