  • Question regd. IS-RETAIL in SAP SD

    Hi All,
    I need an urgent clarification.
If a company in Retail industry implements SAP, is it mandatory that they will be using IS-RETAIL only for SAP SD. Or can they use the normal SAP SD inspite of being in the retail industry (for eg. a company like Sears, JCPenney etc.). Can anyone please explain?
How different is IS-RETAIL (for SD module) from the normal SD module?. Does anyone have good documentation on IS-RETAIL?.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Valuation at retail in SAP Retail corresponds to all aspects of the retail inventory method as used in the trade. Valuation at Retail is transparent and easy to follow. When you use this method, inventory is updated in the article master at retail and at the same time in the Retail Information System (RIS), allowing you to carry out a number of powerful analyses.
Stock margins and inventory valuation in Financial Accounting are always up to date. And thanks to the integration of valuation at retail with Inventory Management and the integration of Inventory Management with Financial Accounting, Controlling and Profitability Analysis, the valuation data is consistent in all areas.
Valuation at retail can be used for both quantity and value-based Inventory Management and Inventory Management on a value-only basis. The following explains how you can best use valuation at retail for your requirements:
In SAP Retail, the valuation area must always correspond to a site.
In retailing it is common practice to record the retail price of inventory (retail method). Since it is extremely time-consuming to determine all the costs associated with the procurement of an article without the use of modern IT systems, it is all the more difficult to determine the delivered cost of merchandise. In view of this, the delivered cost of an article is usually taken as an average price calculated on the basis of the retail value.
    (a) Valuating inventory at delivered prices (cost inventory method)
You can only apply this method if you can ensure that all changes involving an article can be accurately recorded. What is known in the trade as the u201Ccost inventory methodu201D or the u201Ccost methodu201D involves valuating stocks at delivered prices and assigning costs to individual articles.
    (b) Valuating inventory at retail (retail inventory method)
What is known in the trade as the u201Cretail inventory methodu201D or the u201Cretail methodu201D involves valuating stocks at retail, often aggregated at merchandise category or departmental level. Stock is updated at retail for every merchandise category and department. For balance sheet valuation purposes on the balance sheet key date, the delivered cost of the stock is worked out based on a gross margin between cost and retail.
Both the cost method and the retail method can be used in SAP Retail.
    Bye and all the best,
    Muralidhara

  • SAP Fashion Management !

    Hi,
Last month, SAP introduced an add-on module called SAP "Fashion Management" specifically targeting apparel customers, who are into retail and manufacturing. I've few questions with regards to this module. Can you please answer,
    1) Is Fashion management going to replace AFS module ?
    2) Unlike AFS-Retail integration through interfaces, will it be like Fashion management integrated to IS-retail module ?.
    3) Some of the functionality like grid pricing are not available in fashion management as per the reading in SAP library. Is there any feature that replaces grid pricing ?
    4) Is Fashion management, a stand alone solution ? or we need retail as a mandatory module for fashion management ?
    Regards,
    Sat

    Hi Sat,
basically in the past, SAP AFS adressed the wholesale fashion companies whereas SAP Retail addressed the Retailing fashion companies. As vertical fashion retailer, it was often necessary to use SAP AFS as well as SAP Retail.
SAP FMS shall (in the future) adress manufacturing, wholesale and retail business for vertical fashion retailers.
In SAP FMS, the majority of the active AFS processes are planned to be brought onto an SAP Retail based integrated ERP Solution.
    Therefore:
    1) Yes, in a certain way. SAP FMS is a way for vertical fashion retailers to avoid multiple ERP systems (one for manufacturing/wholesale, one for retailing).
    2) Yes, SAP FMS will be deployed on top of SAP Retail using the master data structures of SAP IS Retail.
    3) I cannot answer that question, as I don't exactly know the "grid pricing" functionality as I am no AFS consultant. But in FMS, you can use generic article from SAP Retail to maintain prices for different colour/size combinations - maybe that's what you are looking for. Nevertheless: SAP FMS is actually in Ramp-up with Release 1.0. Development is ongoing and other features/functions will be released in the future.
    4) No, SAP Retail is the functinal basis for SAP FMS. SAP FMS can be deployed on top (I think via activating specific business functions) of SAP Retail.
    Hope it helps.
    Regards
    Tobias

  • SAP ERP == XI == SAP POS (Customer Data Maintenance)

    Dear Friends,
We are doing the scenario SAP ERP ==> XI ==> SAP POS. This is IDoc to File scenario. The file is picked from FTP site by receiver(where the Triversity server pick ascii files).
Here problem is after picking the file, data is not inserted, updated, deleted in the Customer Profile table of Triversity Store Manager. (We follow the Technical Reference Guide for creating files).
    Regards,
    Jagan.

    HI experts ,
After integration of SAP retail and SAP POS, we are receiving file from PI for e.g DEPTTXN.asc (below) ,
As according to DEPTTXN.ASC file format update type ,department, department group ,description should be of Decimal 2.0,decimal4.0, decimal 3.0 and string 20 respectively,
But we are receiving data in below mentioned  format ,because of that when we are posting this file to Xpress sever-> parm folder to view its data in Store manager we are not
able see all the details of DEPTTXN.asc ,only  price point details with the linked category and department are shown there. We are facing same difficulties with other two files also.
Do we have to do some  modification in PI for the naming of department and department group?
It will be great help ,if you can  guide us to solve this particular issue.

  • SAP BW 3.52 and POS DM: Architecture Best Practise

We are retail/wholesale company that are two different business units. Currently we are running SAP BW 3.0 that is integrated with SAP R/3 and APO for reporting purposes. We are now in the early stages of implementing SAP Retail along with SAP POS DM to support the Retail business. We have a question re the architecture and the best practices. We were told that POS DM is integral part of SAP BW 3.52 i.e. a function within BW application. We would like to run the retail instance of SAP BW on a separate box and separate the POS DM onto another box. The reason being, POS DM processes all the store POS transactions through either to IS-Retail or SAP BW. We believe the transaction processing that occurs in POS DM should be separated from SAP BW, in order maintain efficiencies. Can anyone share their perspective and experience on what the best practice would be? Also, is it possible to do what we would like to do i.e. POS DM and BW running on different boxes?
    Please advise.
    Thanks
    Satish Seshayya

Information about POS DM should come within the next time as a Update of the Solution Manager.
    Some Remarks :
The best way to get some information is to contact SAP-Sales The most of my customers run POS DM on the same Box as BW.
A typical process will look like this :
POS System is mapped via Converter (e.g. XI) to the BAPI of the PIPE (/posdw/bapi_postr_create). Also you could feed the PIPE via IDOCS or via direct input (Proxy).
You've got some internal tasks running for validation of the data (sequencing, duplicate...) and you can schedule other tasks to supply the R/3 with IDOCs and to write Data to the DeltaQueues where BW can take the Data.
You can plan everything time-based. Thats meaning as long you don't have a huge amount of data (e.g. >12.000.000 LineItems/day) you should get no big problems with the right hardware.
Also you're able to do "trickle feed", that's more or less an immediatley processing of the data (e.g. directly or every 2 hours)
    wish u much luck

  • Articles Hierarchy replicated to SAP CRM

    Dears,
we are trying to replicate the ARTICLES' hierarchies from SAP IS-Retail to SAP CRM.
Is this possible? Can anybody share insights/possibilities/documentation?
    Thanks in advance -

    Thanks for answering!!
But I am referring to Articles Hierarchies and not to Product Hierarchies.
Articles Hierarchies are Retail-specific and not generic ECC master data.
Do you have any idea on this?

  • Inconsistent Purchase Prices in Retail Promotions (transaction WAK1)

    Hi guys
I have an issue on my current project whereby purchase prices are not being pulled into the Purchase Price fields in the Retail Promotion correctly. Currently the system pulls Purchase prices as follows
When the user creates Retail Promotions SAP pulls purchase prices as follows.
If a List Price exists and no Deal Price then it doesnu2019t pull anything into the Purchase Price Fields
If a Deal Price exists which has discounts maintained against it SAP pulls the gross Deal price, i.e. it doesnu2019t take off the discounts
If a Deal Price exists without discounts, it pulls this correctly.
If anyone has encountered this before your advise would be warmly received.
    Thanks
    Brett

    Hi
This will work for POS but the actual purchase price pulled into the promotion is still not consistent with the condition record price. What the system does is it looks in the price schema, picks the first condition type (in this case the deal price condition) and just pulls the price from this ignoring any discounts maintained as supplements. If no deal price exists it pulls nothing rather than looking further down the schema and pulling the list price. Anyone know if I can make this work so it acts like pruchasing document pricing, i.e. includes supplements and keeps looking until it finds a condition record
