Retaining format of table borders of Help done in Robohelp 7 into RoboHelp 9

Does anyone know how to import or retain the properties of table borders/cells of a Compiled HTML Help Module that was generated in RoboHelp 7 into RoboHelp 9? I'm using RoboHelp 9 for my work and have to generate an HTML Help using RoboHelp 9. But the previous Help was generated in RoboHelp 7. When I have to generate the new Help in RoboHelp 9, this RoboHelp doesn't have the same properties of the table borders of the previous Help. Please help.

I'm still not sure about what you are using and were using in Rh7. Rh for Word has an HPJ file to open it, Rh HTML has an XPJ file. They are different from an HHP file which is also a Rh HTML file.
Both generate CHMs so once we are certain about that Rh HTML is what your Rh7 project was in, we can deal with the table problem.
If Rh for Word is what is in use, then it should not have changed. In Rh HTML tables are now CSS driven but your old ones should not have been affected. Let's cover that when we are certain of the version of Rh the project is in.

  • Formating Bold Table Borders in a report template

I'm using the Alternating-Color-Rows template in my reports. Is it possible to group columns together using thicker table borders after specific columns. How would you set this up in the template? e.g.

You do NOT save formatting to a CLOB type column, hence the C lob (Character). If you want to save a Word style document to a column, then look at a Blob (Binary)..

  • Problem importing Help topics from FrontPage into RoboHelp

    Hi there,
This is my first time here.
I am a tech. writer in my first job (I've been here a couple
    of weeks).
My company has just purchsed RoboHelp, and wants to import
it's Help topics from FrontPage (which I know nothing about) into
RoboHelp (which I know a teeny bit about).
I know the other tech writer here tried to import the topics,
    and had R.H. continually crash.
I am the only tech. writer here for the week (aaaggghh! lol),
and I need to know how to fix this problem.
Please, when you respond, imagine that you are taling to a
first grader , and keep the instuctions simple.
    Thanks in advance,
    Leigh-Anne

Hi Leigh-Anne. First off don't woory about being on your own.
We'll all been there at some point and come out the other side.
Rick asked you whether you had the project on a network
because this is the cause of so many RH problems. The underlaying
Access DB in RH doesn't work at all well there. It is highly
recommended that you work on your local PC and back up to a network
each night. You say there are two of you. If you are using the
RoboSource control features of RHX5 then you can have the project
on a network but the actual source files must be stored and changed
    on your PCs.
You could try creating a new RH project and import the
FrontPage topics a few at a time. If this works, try a few more
into the RH project. Repeat this until you hit the problem. Once
you do, import the topics one at a time until you hit the problem.
This will identify the offending topic - if indeed the problem is
in a topic! Once you're there, try creating a new topic and cut and
paste the old topic's elements into the new topic. It's all a
    process of elimination I'm afraid.
Try this and come back to the forum with any further problems
    you find.

Does anyone know how to import tables and boxex from Word
    2003 nicely into Robohelp 6

You can capture the table from your original word.doc and
save the image as either a bmp or gif file. In robohelp, insert the
picture where you want it to be located at. Have the table act as
    an image.

how do I format a table in Pages so that I don't have to keep reformatting every time I go to a new cell?

    Hello Fruhulda
Clicking a Pages table don't give the same result than clicking somewhere in the table then pressing cmd + a.
The first scheme selects the table (height square handles displayed)
The second one select every cells (no handle displayed).
If we try to fill cells with a color in case 1, only standard cells are filled.
If we try to do the same in case 2, every cells (headers included) will receive the color.

  • Need Help with giving Colors to Table Cells and Table Borders in Dreamweaver CC - Please!

    Hi,
I am a teacher and use Dreamweaver CC to make my class web page.
How do I give colors to the cell borders of a table I inserted?  How do I give colors and line thickness
    to table borders, too?
I bought the David Powers DVD and it doesn't show that.
    Please help.
    Thank you,
    John

Assuming that you have placed a table in your document and your CSS Designer panel is open
    1. Click the '+' sign
    2. Choose your option. I will choose 'Define in Page'
    3. Follow the above sequence, 1.click on table, 2.ensure table is selected, 3.click on style, 4.click the '+' sign, 5. see the selector appear.
    4. Click on the selector and choose the required Properties.
You can do the same for the row (<tr>) or a cell (<td>). In fact, this is how you would go about styling anything in your document.

  • How do I Format Table Borders in Header DW-CS5

I am building a website with DWCS5 and I can not find where to format the borders of the tables in my header.

First you would remove  'border="10"  from the html table code. Then you would add some css to style ALL the table borders inside the .header1 <div>:
    <style type="text/css">

  • Transparent table borders

    Hi.
I'm working in InDesign with a House Style that uses a particular table layout: tinted solid colour cells with paper coloured borders of 1mm. Some cells are also paper coloured which works well to break up the table making the layout less 'heavy' and 'blocky'.
Setting the table borders to white (paper) works fine most of the time but came the occasion last month when I would have liked to put a background picture on the page behind the table. I had to abandon the picture in the end.
So what I need is a way to make the cell borders transparent but retain the 1mm transparent gap between every cell, some of which are also transparent and most have a solid fill.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

I have 2 but I think it would be least bit helpful here because table is aleady been created but lets see...
    Method one:-
Make the Rectangle and then use the script "Make Grid" , put the gutter space as 1mm , and rows and cloums equal to what is required in the table.
Copy and paste the content from the table to the text boxes created from the script.
Method two(will work if solid fill is done in few cells only):-
Select the complete table , under "cell options" change the "cell fill" to "None"
complete table shall be selected , under "cell options" , apply the stroke type "thin-thin" with "6 pt" with the "gap color" :- NONE and stroke color "Black"
also change the "cell inset" to "0 mm"
    now de-select the table ,
select any one cell on which you want to apply the solid fill and follow the below step:-
       a) Table-->Insert table , row 1 and column 1
       b) re-size embedded table according to the cell size
       c) Fill the color in the embedded table in the cell
After this copy and paste this in all cell in which you want the solid fill.
again in this text will be the problem when copying and pasting the embedded table.

  • How to retain formatting from Word to RoboHelp?

I'm using Robohelp for Word 8.0.  Thus far, I've done all my work in Word.  The problem I'm having is getting styles to appear in the online help the same way they do in Word. My output file is web help.
When I compile, RoboHelp correctly formats the font type and size for each of the styles I've created.  Also, it usually gets bold text right.  What it won't handle at all is color.  I've tried using Web-friendly RGB values; nada. It's always black.
The other formatting issue I'm having is lists -- bulleted lists and numbered lists.  RoboHelp inserts a lot of space between the bullets/numbers and the beginning of the text.  That space is not in the Word document.
Finally, if I have links in a bulleted list, RoboHelp formats the entire bulleted item -- including the space between the bullets and the text -- with an underline.
I'm really hoping I won't have to take this into the RoboHelp HTML application.  I'm not very HTML-savvy.  The reason we bought this product was so that we could author in Word, and work from a single source all the time.  However, I'll do what I have to do -- once I know what that is.
    Thanks.

I struggled with the color issue myself for several months and finally had time to figure it out. Word 2007 deals with table styles differently than past versions. In previous versions of word, you could modify table normal style. Now the table normal style assumes all content in the table is using "normal" style. Tables will accept paragraph and character styles only. If you want to customize a table style, modify the table grid style. Fixing the table issue will resolve any use of color you have in your doc even though this may not like it is related. I had the most trouble with orange and shades of purple. RGB only half worked too.
So to fix, using the Developer ribbon, select to modify the Document Template. From the normal.dotm style, copy the Table Normal style into your RH document. Recompile. If you still have the same issue, you will need to dig further. RH processes the topics in your doc in the order that they appear in the doc -- not the toc, so start looking at the beginning of the doc for the first table. Check to see if this table appears correctly in your compiled help file. If it appears correctly, move to the next table and compare it to the compiled help. I found that the table with issues is the one where I had colored borders in my doc table, but in the compiled help they appears as a medium gray shade. Once you ID the table, select the table and on the Table ribbon, right-click on the Table Normal and select apply clearing format or just select Clear.   Recompile. If your colors appear you fixed it. If you still have problems with color appearing, try the next table in the RH doc. To put formatting into your table, highlight your text and bold it -- do not use a style.
For issue 2, when you compile, try changing the options in the generate project. There is an option to use formatted html bullets versus the bullets in the doc. Switch this to use the ones from your doc.
For 3, when you are making the link, you are including the paragraph mark at the end of the bullet which makes the bullet itself and the space inbetween part of the link. In Word, on the format ribbon, click the paragraph mark to show all formatting marks. You should see a paragraph mark after every ending bullet line. Remove the link, then select only the text without the paragraph mark and make your link.
I'm not sure if you are new to RH for Word or not, but here are some tips I use to make using RH easier:
I always work with the show paragraph mark on. It helps me ID what Word is doing easier. I changed the Word Options, Display so it shows all formatting makrs. It also lets you see what is in your links as they are hidden text.
I use the Word Options, Customize to modify my word QAT. I've included many of the table commands such as add row/column, delete row/column, table properties, select table, etc. since the ribbon only shows the table ribbon when you have an existing table your cursor is resting on. I've also added the Styles (classic styles) to the QAT which provides a drop-down list of my styles. The current shortcut of styles on the format ribbon doesn't show you all available styles. Note, Word shows you Popular Commands by default so choose All Commands. You may have to do some trial and error to find the styles that you want to use.
I've also modified the styles to show me the current styles in my doc. This allows me to get rid of styles that may creep into my RH doc that may cause me problems. The list is also shorter for me to choose from. (Choose styles, options, them remove all checkmarks.)
    Hope this helps.

  • Formatting pivot tables (obiee 11g)

Hi, I'm trying to find good ways to format pivot table results in 11g. Can someone help answer the following questions? Note that I'm putting the "measures" label into the row position, which allows me to format measures differently from each other.
    1. I'd like to put blank rows into the output to space the report. I tried creating a dummy "spacer" measure and then setting display:none in the CSS style. However, this leaves an ugly blank spot that has a gray color in the output. Is there an easier way just to add blank spaces between rows?
    2. The default grid lines on all pivot tables are really dark. If you're a Stephen Few afficianado, they really interfere with reading the numbers. Is there a simple way to default pivots to have less obvious grid lines?
    3. Is there a way to turn off the "word wrap = TRUE" for everything? I've tried setting default number formats for all items to have word wrap turned off...I don't know who would EVER want minus signs wrapping around in numbers...despite this, any new metric I create ALWAYS seems to have stupid word wrapping turned on. If anything, I'd like the default to be off for all items.
    Thank you very much!

The best way is to not use tables.
Another way is to set  border="0".
    I hope this helps.

  • Table borders offset in PDF output

I am using RoboHelp HTML, version 9 and I need to deliver two outputs for my documentation: WebHelp and PDF.
My table borders look the way I want them to in WebHelp and Word, single line and thin (1px).
But when we go to PDF, I get two sets of lines, one all the way around my cells, another with gaps of white space.
I think its something to do with 3d borders not getting totally eliminated.
I've added "table-collapse: collapse;" to all my table styles.
    Any ideas?
Note: If I create a table originally in Word with thin single line borders, it looks fine in PDF.
Here's how it looks in WebHelp and Word...
    And then in PDF...

    Peter,
Yes, as I mentioned in an earlier post, I really like the help design on your web site. I researched many looks in preparing for a new stylesheet project. Ended up emulating a lot of your elements rather than reinvent the wheel.
Hope you are OK with that. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery (definitely in my case).
Anyhow, I figured out my problem. The CSS for my original tables was using 5px padding all around. In Word output, this gets converted to table cell margins.
And that's what the PDF conversion doesn't like. Take out the original CSS padding--or the converted Word cell margins--and the problem goes away, leaving clean unbroken table lines in the PDF.
    Best regards.
