Retaining Tag Colors on Export to PDF

Hello! I've tried to Export As>Adobe PDF in several ways but all the Tags come out bold/black instead of their specified colors.  If I print a PDF, all colors are correct but the file is ~32x larger. Is there something I'm missing?  Emailing smaller files is necessary for some of my recipients.
Thanks!
Ben
I've attempted exports these ways with the same result. (All apps updated as of today's versions.)

-Chrome
OSX Lion
-Firefox
-Desktop version of Story

Yes, the hyperlink is defined correctly, without the preceding code linking to my hard drive.
In the hyperlink panel the full path is:
\\Nwfileprintvm\vol1\shared\Business Development\Program Support\Ten things.doc
When I export to PDF, the link becomes:
file:///Volumes/LaCie%20750/Work%20in%20progress/New%20work/Project%209999%20NewProject/\\ Nwfileprintvm\vol1\shared\Business Development\Program Support\Ten things.doc

  • Can you retain text highlighting when exporting to PDF from InDesign?

    Hi,
I have several publications that are now going to be reviewed by another individual and I was planning to export them to PDF.
However, I've already highlighted bibliographic references, table call outs, figure call outs in the InDesign file using different colors and I was wondering if there is a way to retain that highlighting when exporting to PDF? Just thought it might make their life a little easier since I already have all that done in the file.
    Thanks!

Ah ha! Got it! All I needed was your prompt! I looked to make sure that it was set up as conditional text and noticed the Show/Hide option at the bottom of the pop-up. (I knew I saw something before that would allow this, but couldn't remember where!)
    Thanks for jogging my memory!

  • HTML Tags escape while exporting to PDF

    Hi friends,
I have two columns in my BI report like
    Business Group(BG) and OU
Since in the BG column under the edit formula i used the html tags to show each and every BG column value in bold like below
    '<b>' || "D1.Company"."Business Group Full Name" || '</b>'
Now the report is appearing fine in answers and dashboard but when i export the same report to PDF i can see the html tags in each and every name of the BG group.
Is there anything to be done to escape these html tags in PDF while exporting.
And also if we give the tooltip for the numeric columns like below under the column properties-->Data format-->Custom like
    [html]<p title=\""Employee Count" \">#
And after that if i tried to escape the same report with the tooltip on the numeric column to pdf means, the number values are missing for the entire column in the PDF, but this case is not appearing while exporting the report to pdf if i set the tooltip to the text column, as the values is missing only for the tooltip of the numeric column. What could be the fix for this problem.
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Saro

    Hi svee,
    Thanks for the reply.
For an example i tried with the bold option in the edit formula inorder to portray the html tags problem while exporting it to the pdf inspite of using the default bold option within the column properites like u said.
Suppose if i used html tags like
    <br>, </br>
in the edit formula section or if i used any other html tags which is not present as a default option in bi like bold. At that time while exporting the report to pdf i can face the issue.
And also i need ur suggestion regarding with the values disappearing for the numeric column if a tooltip is used in it while exporting it to the pdf.

  • Colors when exporting to PDF get all screwy

This just started last Friday - all of the sudden I can no
longer print to PDF, export as PDF, export as a JPEG, copy to
Photoshop or anything like that without the colors "solarizing" -
it's almost like a reverse image. Type, imported photos, vector
art, it's all the same, and the end result is that I can't get
anything out of Freehand in order to send proofs, etc. I've
reinstalled both Freehand, and the entire Creative Suite to see if
I had really messed up my preferences - but nothing seems to work.
Anybody else out there who has had a similar problem, please let me
    know!

What is your platform and OS?
What are your FH color management settings?
Have you calibrated your monitor? If so, how?
Before reinstalling FH to clear problems, it's important to
    trash the
Preferences and other settings files in the Settings folder.
    They are not
overwritten when FH is reinstalled. On Mac OS X, the settings
    are here:
    Users/(Username)/Library/Application Support/ Macromedia/
    FreeHand MX/ 11/

  • Color to export a pdf from Indesign

    Hi
I have some images that doesn't have any color profile. When I proof those images printing directly from my computer those have a great quality. Now, i have my indesign color settings to turn off the color management in order to conserve the original characteristics of the image. But, when I export a pdf to print the proff is not what i expected, the colors of the same image are very diferent of the first proof.

Thank you Peter. Someone else must have been on my computer because I do not change the settings. You pointed me in the right direction.
    Thanks again.

  • Controlling color on export to PDF

Hi, I have another Quark to InDesign question:
I just exported a file from InDesign that uses the same Pantone color (287C) as a file in Quark, but the two look very different (the colors in the InDesign PDF look faded/lighter/washed out compared to the Quark colors).Left is InDesign, right is Quark. Does anyone have any thoughts on why these are different/how to get the Quark color in InDesign?
This is for web-distribution, not print.
    Thanks,
    SH

Why use a spot color for this? Just use an RGB version if it's going to be viewed on screen.
Although this is for web use now, I used a spot color because it will later be made available in print, so it seemed easier to stick with one consistent color for both uses.
For print purposes you might want to go into the ink manager and set spots to display with Lab color.
I think that did the trick.
    Thanks everyone!

  • How do I stop FH Mx from converting spot colors to cmyk on export to pdf

I have Freehand Mxa on my PC.  I created a couple of rectangles and filled with two Pantone colors from my swatch pallet.
I exported to pdf and the spot colors converted to cymk.  Shucks!  How do I stop that?
(When I print directly to my Adobe Distiller print driver the spot colors are retained as they should in my pdf.)
In the Freehand export function there is a setup dialog box just below the "cancel" button.  When that opens there is only a drop down button allowing conversion to cmyk and cmyk/rgb.  So, I am guessing that is not where I can tell Freehand to leave my spots alone.
    What am I doing wrong?
I was going to attach the small test file but the system did allow. Hope my description is enough to render a solution.
    -Steve

The only thing you're doing wrong is using FH's PDF export. It creates PDF files that are adequate for viewing online or printing to composite inkjet printers, but it doesn't support spot colors.
There are many more reasons why you shouldn't use FH's PDF export for print work. See this technote for limitations of PDF export.

When you need to retain spot colors, print to a Postscript file and Distill.

  • Color change on export to PDF

We use an application called Autodoc HSE which relies on hidden text in reports to redirect printed output to email, fax or printer.  It looks for the colour code 254, 254, 254 and anything in this colour is interpreted by Autodoc as a command.
It appears however that when a report is printed from Webi it first goes as a PDF and the colour is rounded to 255,255,255 which is pure white (instead of the off white).
We cannot change the Autodoc command colour for two reasons, firstly because we have so many other systems using this colour and secondly because we could use pure white as a valid colour and do not want that text interpreted as an autodoc command.
Does anyone know how we can force the colour to remain at 254,254,254 when the PDF is created?
I have seen the documents relating to Excel colours but they do not seem to relate to this issue.
    Thanks

  • Export to PDF doesn't retain page settings

Create a report with lots of columns and then change the page settings to be landscape and shrink to fit. Now run the report and print the report as a PDF. It works as expected.
Now export this same report as a PDF. The export will not retain the page settings. Instead, it will export the PDF in portrait and it will not shrink to fit.
If you email the report to someone, it also doesn't retain the page settings.
I opened a TAR on this issue and I was told this was not a current feature of Discoverer. Exporting does not retain page settings by design and it would be an enhancement request to get this new functionality.
We build a lot of custom Oracle Reports right now so that users can drill from one level to another. With OracleBI Discoverer, I can now do this with linking to sheets. With Oracle Reports, I can render the report in PDF format which is a business requirement. With OracleBI Discoverer, I can do this too except I can't export the PDF because it doesn't fit on the page correctly.
    Anyone else need this functionality?
On another "enhancement request" note, I would like to be able to schedule exports. OracleBI Discoverer is getting close to providing an alternative to Oracle Reports which is great because it is faster to build and deploy reports and it is licensed by the CPU so I don't have to worry about buying Report Builder licenses. Lastly, business users can build their own reports rather than someone in IT doing it.

ok, here's what I have found out (thanks to our Viewer guru, Matthew):
The print/PDF preferences are currently not saved, so you are right when you say you have to re-apply those settings.
However, there is a way to persist these changes within a session (note that since these changes are session-resident only, you will lose them once you exit Viewer).
The short one line explanation of the workaround is to make the changes using the 'Printable Page' link, generate a 'Preview' or the entire PDF report, and then use the worksheet breadcrumb link to return to the worksheet. This ensures that the PDF changes you made are available during the sesion to the worksheet. You can always undo these settings by clicking the 'Revert to saved' link.
I have posted the same information, but with screenshots, to http://oraclebi.blogspot.com/2005/12/pdf-settings-in-viewer.html

  • Colors are printing incorrectly when exported to PDF but print fine from InDeisgn and Photoshop

Documents I create in Photoshop and InDesign and export to PDF print in different/wrong colors. The colors are fine when printed directly from Photoshop or InDesign, they look correct when viewing the PDF, but change when printed from the PDF (specifically blues print as purple). How do I fix this?

This really sounds like a color management issue.
How are you creating the PDF files from InDesign or Photoshop? We recommend using the PDF/X-4 settings for proper printing from Acrobat or any direct PDF RIP/printer.
Also would like to know what type of printer you are printing to.

  • Retaining original font in CR2008 while exporting to PDF

    Hi,
Do we have a fix/patch available for retaining the original font when exporting to PDF in 2008 yet? The solution i see is to update the registry files. Do we have any other solution like a fixed dll file or a patch already available for download at SAP website?
I cannot update the registry settings as it is not allowed where i work so need a patch/fixed dll file to get rid of this issue.
Your quick response is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Are you sure it is the 'Font' that is not being retained? Or is it the size?
The only workaround like you said is the registry key and unfortunately, there is no Fix Pack available to address this issue.

  • Chapter Headings Are Not Exporting to PDF as h1-h3 tags

With two-column layouts, even though I assigned PDF export tags to the chapter heading Paragraph Styles, they are not being exported to PDF with h1-3 tags.
I'm using InDesign CS6 and Acrobat Pro XI on a 64-bit Windows 7 system.
    To export, I'm using the
File / Adobe PDF Presets option:
On the Export Adobe PDF pop-up-screen, the following are checked:
    Create Tagged PDF
    Bookmarks
    Hyperlinks
And I have the Compatibility set to "Acrobat 8/9 (PDF1.7)
Any ideas why the heading tags are not being exported correctly?
    Thanks.

There are some known problems with bookmarks and CS5 as well. As far as I know, the 7.0.3 update won't fix them, but it does solve some other problems, so you should install it.

  • How can I export to PDF for Offset printing including color and grayscale photo's?

After reading dozens of forum, I still don’t found the answer.
I made a photobook with full-colur and B/W photos for Offset printing. I want the B/W to be in grayscale to avoid color possible color shades. It seems InDesign doesn’t support grayscale, the images become way to dark. Even with exporting without any colour conversion or destination and/or including original colour profiles, the grayscale pictures are being exported to dark to PDF.
How can I export to PDF for Offset printing including color and grayscale photo’s?

Yes, the Photoshop & ID CMYK working spaces are the same
This can get difficult because the 3 programs handle soft proofing differently.
The working spaces don't matter, it's the document profile(s) that manage the preview. So here is the same grayscale image placed in ID on top and PS on the bottom. I've set my Photoshop info to show the doc profile in the lower left corner. I can see my InDesign's Document CMYK profile in my Proof Setup (the Working CMYK is different and isn't being used). Both profiles are effectively the same Coated FOGRA39 (Black Ink FOGRA in the case of PS).
But the previews don't match because I have Overprint turned off, so the InDesign preview is Gamma 2.2 or a "screen" media preview.
If I turn on Overprint preview I get a match because I'm soft proofing for print:

  • [JS, CS3] Change text color and export pdfs

    Hi there,
I am new to scripting and I am trying to find out if a script exists that will export a PDF, then change all text of a certain color to black, then export another pdf with the same settings as the first, but appending the filename. I've searched the forum and understand about the change color bug, but I haven't seen anything in JavaScript -- It's all been applescript.
    Anyone have any brilliant ideas?
    Help is GREATLY appreciated!

  • Strange color change in graphic when ID file exported to pdf  ID CS3

I open a pdf of some special graphic or scientific equation in Photoshop, put it into grayscale, discard layers, and save as a Tiff. I then import it into a two-color InDesign document. With the selection tool, I choose a swatch of one of the two colors in the document at 10% tint, to be a background color (where there is no content in the Tiff). With the direct selection tool I then choose from the swatches the other color of the two-color document for the actual content of the graphic (text, drawing, etc.). On-screen this looks exactly as it should. However, when I export the InDesign file as a pdf, the color of the background of the graphic is a 10% tint of the second color, not the first color. I have tried redoing the graphic in Photoshop in different ways, but no matter what I do the export to pdf from InDesign changes the color of the background of the graphic to the other color. How can I fix this problem? I am on a new MacBook, 2.4 GHz Intel core 2 Duo; 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory; OSX 10.5.6.

Well this is the Reader forum. You cannot check colors using Reader. Are you using Acrobat? If so, you will want to ask in the Acrobat forum for your OS. Good luck.
