Retina Display and streaming non HD video
Hi -
how does non HD video content look on the MBP-R in Full Screen mode?
Is its blury like the non optimized Apps or website content?
Is it even more blurry?
Reason why I am asking:
Watching series online on a regular screen pretty often looks ok but not great. Depending on the internet speed and the movie qualitity you can see the compression in the picture and so see the pixel. How does this look on the new retina display?
Has anyone of the early owner time and motivation to check and post a screenshot?
(like streaming from hulu, youtube or iwatchnetw....)

it looks great, but once your eyes have got used to the retina-quality desktop, 1080p would just looks "so-so"

The iPad with retina display only comes in the 16GB version and it has the A6 processor which is a step down from the Air model. Having said that, I stream movies on my iPad 3 with retina and it has the A5 processor and the movies stream just fine as does everything else that I do on the internet.
If 16GB is enough storage for you, the $100 savings compared to an iPad Air model is a fair amount of money and that might sway me if I was just worried about saving some money. However, that's not my style. I always go for the largest capacity that I can afford and the faster processor if I have the choice.
Having said that, if it were me, I would select the 32 GB iPad Air. But in spite of the information that you provided in which you want to base your decision, only you can be the judge of what will be best for you, and remember that you cannot add storage capacity to the decide later. You can purchase external WiFi drives if you need the storage, but to me, that takes away from having the really small footprint and portability of only having to carry the iPad around gives you. -
I am trying to install an update for my macbook pro retina display and my mac wont restart because it says my mail is still open but when i try and open my mail, it wont let me. I think it crashed. Help?

As a stockholder, I would like see the development of iTV with Retina display and integrating Siri control, internet access, and iTunes apps. This new product would be a large screen, thin wall mounted television, much like a oversided iPad.
Do you think this product is possible?In general theory, one now has the Edit button for their posts, until someone/anyone Replies to it. I've had Edit available for weeks, as opposed to the old forum's ~ 30 mins.
That, however, is in theory. I've posted, and immediately seen something that needed editing, only to find NO Replies, yet the Edit button is no longer available, only seconds later. Still, in that same thread, I'd have the Edit button from older posts, to which there had also been no Replies even after several days/weeks. Found one that had to be over a month old, and Edit was still there.
Do not know the why/how of this behavior. At first, I thought that maybe there WAS a Reply, that "ate" my Edit button, but had not Refreshed on my screen. Refresh still showed no Replies, just no Edit either. In those cases, I just Reply and mention the [Edit].
Also, it seems that the buttons get very scrambled at times, and Refresh does not always clear that up. I end up clicking where I "think" the right button should be and hope for the best. Seems that when the buttons do bunch up they can appear at random around the page, often three atop one another, and maybe one way the heck out in left-field.
While I'm on a role, it would be nice to be able to switch between Flattened and Threaded Views on the fly. Each has a use, and having to go to Options and then come back down to the thread is a very slow process. Jive is probably incapable of this, but I can dream.

Did you download and install the Windows Support software? If you did, did you use the Boot Camp Control icon to set up the trackpad how you want it?

I am hoping someone can confirm that Apple's new (ish) Retina Display MacBook Pro's will work fine with Creative Cloud apps, particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, probably Acrobat too. I tried CS 6 apps in the Apple store on a Retina Display and it was like going back to pre ATM days. Also, if it does work what other 'side effects' are there? Eg are the images/text so small that you need to zoom in/out all the time. I noticed in the Apple store that most CS6 apps took a while to launch!
I intend to get a new Mac but am nervous about this Retina Display thing and wonder if I should go with an iMac. Just to confirm, I have Adobe CC but am just referring to CS6 as a reference. Many thanks.I am Windows, but I do have a saved link that may give you more information

Retina display and CS6 InDesign pixelation
Hello,
Has there been no software update for InDesign CS6 that supports Retina display? I have recently upgraded my Macbook to a retina display and InDesign icons and text appears pixelated. It's really annoying! Is there any way to fix this? Is the fix purchase CC?

It's a valid business decision to make that kind of change a new version rather than give away thousands of hours of work for free. The development team needs to be paid, and the stockholders expect some return on their investment. Do you do any work that gets a periodic revision? Do you charge the client for that revision, or do you just give them the new versions year after year? Should Ford or Chevy retrofit your car with batteries and a new engine to be a hybrid vehicle for free?

Retina support was first added to Photoshop in CS6 version 13.0.3

So, assuming you own standalone Photoshop CS5 (and you're running at least Windows 7 on your PC) then your best option - for optimal display on your Mac - might be to subscribe to the Photoshop Photography Program for $9.99/month

The sound on my laptop is locked, cant plug in my headphone jack and there is no red light, The laptop is retina display and I am on panic mode.
I have researched the whole subject and the closest thing to my case is one with a red light. I tried the toothpic manoevre suggested by pany with no results. Please help me.System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers

Why won't quicktime player work? I own Mac Book Pro with Retina Display and connote get the quicktime player to open or play quicktime movies?
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Preferences/com.apple.quicktimeplayer.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

I've just send to repair my retina display and I'm no very sure that they replace it for a LED one . How I could know which kind of display I got now??
If you head over to ifixit.com, you can check out their replacement guides for each of the items you feel needs replacing. The cost for the parts is listed there. It would be that cost + labor at an Apple store. I'm not sure if they would replace things that are cracked as that is cosmetic damage and doesn't affect how well (or poorly) the computer works. You would have to bring it to a store and ask.

What can be streamed w/ airplay?
Can keynote presentations be streamed to an Apple TV with AirPlay? And can you play music on a TV? How about movies (or at least the audio from it) on speakers? If you can play the music on an Apple TV, do you see the album artwork?
