Retina display CS6

I just purchased a MacBook Pro with Retina display and now Indesign CS6 is so blurry it is unusable! Are there any fixes or updates??

There are specific Retina updates for Photoshop and Illustrator, but not for the other programs. Install them.

How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display? When I click Get Info, the "Open in Low Resolution" box is marked and locked. How can I unmark this box? I currently run 10.9.1. I can open Adobe Photoshop CS6 in high resolution without any problem. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

There is no such thing. In CS6 only PS itself is Retina compatible. You would have to use CC for full Retina support.

  • Where can I find a patch for Indesign and Acrobat cs6 for mac retina display?

I have found the patch for screen resolution for photoshop, but the illustrator patch says it is not compatible and I cannot locate one for in-design (my primary program) or Acrobat. There must be a patch, right? Or else whats the point of it?

The patch is upgrading to InDesign CC, which requires an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription. Sorry.
There is no Acrobat CS6. The last version is Acrobat XI which was created too late to include support for Retina Display. It will probably be in the next version of Acrobat.
Creating "patches" for Retina Display are much more engineering intensive than you would expect. In the case of InDesign, it had to be completed in the context of moving to becoming a 64 bit application and moving application development from Carbon to Cocoa (a required move on the Mac accomplished finally in InDesign CC).

  • Indesign CS6 looks unsharp, crappy and ugly on retina display

Indesgin CS6 is the only application in CS6 Design suite that doesn't support HiDpi (RETINA) displays correctly.
For Acorbat X I had to purchase Acrobat XI to get a Adobe premium (and expensive) product on par with the free PDF Reader or OSX Preview display qualities.
For Indesgin CS6 I don't see such an option, since the CC subscription is no option for me (I don't need Indesign on a regular basis and refuse to pay a monthly fee if I need it for a few days... therefore I am much better off with the purchase model... especially for corporate tax laws in Germany).
I hereby request an update for Indesign CS6 to support Retina. If this is not possible, I have to look for other options in my future purchases.
    Thanks a lot!

    Thanks for replying.
No I did not come just to rant. I came for a solution on how unexpectedly ugly (and here andthere unreadable, as in images) ID CS6 looked on my retina MBP.
And no, I do not feel better. I feel screwed. I have invested a large amount of time and effort in getting the book done in ID (I even thanked Peter Spier in my first edition for his help on this forum to solve a few serious issues I had).
And now I find out that if I want to continue with ID, I need to upgrade to a construct where I need to perpetually pay a fee or lose access to my own work. I feel Adobe is trying to get me ultimately locked in, and I do not like it. I like ID. I like how I could create a nice (some say beautiful) book. I hate having to say goodbye, but a perpetual lock in of this kind is a too high a price to pay.
And yes, as it is now, I can take a one-month subscription to get access. But I have to pay that every time this occurs (think of small editorial changes that happen once in a while). And no guarantuees that this kind of short time or affordable pricing stays. Yes, it can all turn out well. But I am completely at the mercy of Adobe and that gives a pretty unfree feel to it all. It is a type of blackmail: pay or you won't have access to your own stuff anymore.
This is not like my TV subscription (I can change provider without a hassle). This is like using a camera to record my family movies only to find out that the camera was cheap because I have to keep paying every time I want to access my own work for a future price that is uncertain. I will do it if I have to (if there is no reasonable alternative). And if I cannot find a reasonable alternative, that suggests from my perspective that Adobe is wielding monopoly power here. And I do not like that either.
For many the price may be reasonable and I can understand many of the advantages. But the fact that I become completely dependent on whatever Adobe decides in the future is for me an unacceptable risk. Many people ignore risks. If this risk does not turn into reality they will be vindicated. If it does, they are screwed too.
It would be OK if the subscription price was for regular updates and the version you have just keeps working. And if you do not subscribe, you need to pay the full amount if you need to update. But now it is, pay or be locked out.
BTW, subscribing to just ID costs >$30/month over here.

  • Will Adobe develop a patch for pixelated CS6 workspace on retina display?

Will Adobe develop a patch for pixelated CS6 workspace on retina display?

You can believe what you like, but it won't change the truth.
CS6 is a Cocoa application, and Retina support requires Carbon (or the other way around, I'm a Windows user). It's not a matter of adding a few lines of code to make the change, it required rewriting the entire program from the ground up.

  • CS6 resolution on Mac Book Pro Retina Display

The resolution for all CS6 programs on mac book pro retina is horrific. Will there be updates?! I am quite frustrated that I can barely see any of my type in Indesign.

InDesign has yet not came up with the retina display support update but yes we are going to have the support of retina display for most of the products eventually.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 on Mac - Retina Display not being used properly.

Hello. I have just installed the CS6 Dreamweaver trial [which I intend on purchasing eventually] and supposedly it is Retina display compatible. However, the fonts and in-program graphics look like crap for lack of a better word. I have checked the "Get info" panel and the box that says "Open in low-resolution" is checked and grayed out so I cannot change the setting. How to I get the program to use Retina properly? It is a fresh install, fully updated, and I haven't changed a single setting, I literally installed it 20 minutes ago. Any help on this is appreciated. Thanks!
Currently running OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2

Dreamweaver CS6 is not retina ready. Dreamweaver CS6 Cloud version is. Depending on which version you get depends on what you see.  If you are not trying the Cloud subscription then what you are seeing is what you will get until CS6.5 or 7 of the traditional licenses.

  • Will there ever be an update for retina display on InDesign CS6?

I know I'm a little late in the game guys...Didn't know all the details of this retina display business, but I figured it was the way of the future and I should just bite the bullet and get one. I've read everything I could find about InDesign and retina display (of course this was after I bought EVERYTHING...) will there EVER be an update for CS6, or do I have to go get the creative cloud?

    On behalf of Adobe …
Confirming that there will absolutely not be any hi DPI updates for InDesign 8 (CS6) either for Mac or Windows. As Peter indicated, this support was part of a massive code rewrite that went into InDesign 9 (CC) to support 64-bit versions of InDesign and the transition from the so-called Carbon to Cocoa programming frameworks on MacOS.

  • CS6 problems on Macbook Pro with retina display

I just bought a Macbook Pro with retina display and Adobe CS6. After installing CS6, I noticed everything is pixelated. Any popup or lettering or words are pixelated and so are the brushed. I am not just talking about the fonts, but any word in the program. I use the program at school and everything is crisp and clear. Are my settings wrong or is there an update I need?

Its the creative suite w photoshop, illustrator, indesign etc. it's like that on all of them but I'm specifically talking about photoshop.

  • Adobe Brings Retina Display Support To Photoshop And Illustrator CS6  As A Free Update For All Users

Adobe Brings Retina Display Support To Photoshop And Illustrator CS6
As A Free Update For All Users..... if this is TRUE then how Do I get it. My CS is HORRIBLE visually. Does ANYONE know anything encouraging about this issue with Adobe CS and Retina Display???

As pointed out by John T Smith, you should post the questions in the correct forums to get swift replies.  However, yes Adobe has made its promise good and the blog to that effect is here:

  • CS6 retina display

    Hi guys,
I'm aware there's no work around for the pixalation/magnification issues caused by Apple's High res retina display when using CS5. With the execption of Photoshop and Illustrator.
I use Premiere Pro and AE a lot and was wondering if I upgraded to CS6, is the issue rectified? I read that the update 6.0.2 fixes all pixalation issues no matter what program you use in CS6. Is that the case?
If this is true, where can  I buy a legit copy of CS6 these days? CC is just to expensive for me.
    Thanks in advance.

I'm Windows so have no idea about what CS6 fixed for Macs, but I do have a link to buy Creative Suite 6 - I think PPro is on the second page, about $800 if it is not an upgrade

  • Retina display and CS6 InDesign pixelation

    Hello,
Has there been no software update for InDesign CS6 that supports Retina display? I have recently upgraded my Macbook to a retina display and InDesign icons and text appears pixelated. It's really annoying! Is there any way to fix this? Is the fix purchase CC?
    Thanks!

Well yes, it was possible by rewriting the program. That became CC. It's a valid business decision to make that kind of change a new version rather than give away thousands of hours of work for free. The development team needs to be paid, and the stockholders expect some return on their investment. Do you do any work that gets a periodic revision? Do you charge the client for that revision, or do you just give them the new versions year after year? Should Ford or Chevy retrofit your car with batteries and a new engine to be a hybrid vehicle for free?
