Retina or no? What happens after the apple care expires

I am thinking of getting a pro. Now ideally I'd want to have the retina. But since the memory and the SSD are soldered, what will happen if they break? Especially after 3 years? Do we have to pay for the whole motherboard? I asked ppl in the store but they didn't know. Memory might not go bad but I am not sure about the SSD after 3 years. I don't want to end up paying the whole thing except the screen after 3 years.

Apple will continue to have service replacements for the iPhone 5 for a long time to come. So if you go to Apple for an exchange, you'll get the same model of iPhone that you turn in. You will not get a 5C.
As to the price change, there may be nothing to be done, but if you wanted to get the iPhone replaced but that the Genius could not or would not do the replacement at that time, talk to the manager of the Apple Store, explain that you were in and reported the problem before the price increase but could not get a replacement then. Perhaps they'll be able to do something for you. If it was your choice not to replace the iPhone, though, then you're probably stuck, just as with any product price increase when you previously elected not to purchase.

I'm thinking about getting the student version of CC. My question now is, what happens after the year of subscription? Will I get any software that is able to open or even alter the my files? Someone told me that I'll get a copy of CS6. Is that correct?

When you cancel your subscription, or allow it to expire, your subscription software will stop working until you re-start your membership and start paying the monthly fee again.
You pay, you use. Stop paying, software stops working.

What happens after the 1 year subscribtion.

I bought a one year subscribtion of CC through surfspot.nl because I am a teacher at NCOI, a large education institute in the Netherlands. What happens after the one year period? Do I have to renew through surfspot.nl? How do I keep my subscription and how much is it going to cost?

What happens after the 90 days free trial period of Creative Cloud?

I just wanted to access a free trial Version of InDesign as I didn't have access to my computer with all the Adobe programs back home, but then I ended up (without beeing noticed properly) in the free Creative Cloud test period. Now I'm wondering, what happens after the 90 days, because I can't find any option to delete my Adobe-ID from the Creative Cloud.
I'm not interested in the paid version of Creative Cloud. How can I delete the connection of my Adobe-ID to Creative Cloud?

The free trial is for 30 days, not 90. Just do not want you to be suprised on day 31. And as Cozmicone said a dialog will appear telling you the trial is over and you will no longer be able to run InDesign.

My iMac has slowed down considerably soon after my Apple Care expired. Reminds me of the PC days.

What can I do about my iMac slowing down. Shortly after my Apple Care ran out it started to slow considerably. Kind of like having a PC again. On a PC I would defrag it, but Apple tells me it is not recommended for the iMac. Tired of watching the multi-colored circle spin. What can be done? I just upgraded to Lion. Try using disk utility on your hard drive to repair it, also repair your permissions. Open activity monitor and take a look at your RAM and CPU usage. You may have a program or tow taking up a lot of your resources.

Yes! i have had my screen replaced 3 times,just before the warranty ran out,and i knew that it would happen again, (even has i am typing this out its happening again) I was given no choice but to buy this Apple Care Plan. My question is what happens after 3yrs. In my country England you just keep on paying the insurance every year. If you do not have any insurance, Say, on a washing machine you call the guys out to fix it, they tell you the price before they begin. You are better off buying a new washer, because of the price they charge. I know for definate after 3yrs thats it,and say if you had to get your screen replaced it would cost you £400 plus carriage,and that comes to about £500. You might as well buy a new computer. Unless anybody can come up with a better answer to this i would love to know.

So I was looking at some iPads I deployed sometime ago using Apple Configurator. Last summer I brough them all in (about 220 units,) wiped them, used configurator to install iOS 5.1, all supervised, and named according to the Teacher they were given out to. Last few weeks I've had a few come back with misc problems and I noticed within the Supervision Profile the "Signing Certificate" and "Certificate" for Apple Configurator both expire on August 13, 2013. What will happen on/after August 13, 2013 with these units?

From another site, I got a tip that if you use Keychain Access, double click on the AppleConfigurator (MAC address of machine) entry (it'll have a red X badge & the date it expired), open up the Trust disclosure triangle and set "When using this certificate"t o Always Trust. Hello - ProSite is only free with a paid Creative Cloud subscription, not with a Trial membership, which is sounds like you're on. However, anyone can use ProSite for free to create and work on their site - UNTIL you want to publish it. At that point, you can buy it as a standalone ($99/year), or you can get it free as part of a paid Creative Cloud plan.

What happened to the Apple open source software page?

I have used a lot of the open source software that Apple listed on their website. The address used to be:

But that just directs to a cheesy downloads page with links to app store, etc.
Does anybody know what happend to this part of the Apple web site? Is it just moved and I'm too dumb to find it? I've tried to search these forums, and the googles, but nothing coherant comes through!

This is the developer page though, and doesn't contain the wealth of applications that were hosted (and kept up to date). These included GIMP, carbon emacs, etc.
I realize many of these are available from macports, or even by building from the source in many cases, but some of these programs seem to have been only hosted and updated from this page.

All the Apple codecs in fcp 603 easy setup show up with HDV in front of them and are 1440hdv only.
At least under OSX 10.5.2 my OSX 10.4.11 box with fcp 603 displays every thing normally

Are you sure that in your "easy setup" window, HDV is not selected in the "Format" menu ?

What will happen when my Apple Care expire? Can I get another one?

I just go my MBP 17" 6 months ago and I already had some quiet serious issue with that machine (motherboard replacement). I have also Apple Care. I wish to keep this machine as long as it is possible (5 years or so) and my question is can I buy another 2 or 3 years of Apple Care when the current one will expire? I don't want to be left alone, without any coverage and paying hefty prices for reparations. What are your suggestions guys?

AppleCare is a one-time extension of your warranty. You cannot extend your warranty beyond your initial AppleCare term through Apple. You may be able to find third party vendors to provide extended coverage.
