Retrieve a version of a document accidentally overwritten

Is it possible to retrieve a spreadsheet (numbers file saved as ".xls") that was accidentally overwritten?
Unfortunately I do not utilize timemachine.
Please help.  13 hours worth of work.

Hi Kappy,
Maybe you can just clarify or reiteriate what you already stated.
I am so upset because I lost the contents of an ongoing Pages document since March 2013 and it was medical information on a client.
The contents of the document was erased while my keyboard was in my bag jostling around.
So the document had a random bunch of letters on it.
I tried to recover an older version of the document by erasing the contents of the Ipad and recovering ICloud from June 11th but the Pages document was still empty. It recovered it from yesterday not June 11th.
So I believe the document has been overwritten.
There is no way to recover an earlier version?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Beth

  • The numbers version of my document has disappear, now i have only access to my document in pdf version,

    the numbers version of my document has completely dissappear, i can only have access to the pdf version, I went on time machine ,and again no more copy of my numbers document ?
    I realy do'nt know what has happenned, can I transform the pdf document  in the original numbers version ?

    If the Numbers doc is, indeed, backed up in Time Machine, then you should be able to go back in time through the backup history until you see the file.  Make sure you are in the folder where the file used to be.  Also look through email and see if you sent the file to anyone
    Also... make sure you did not accidentally move the file into the trash.  You can open the trash by clicking on, and holding, the mouse button while hovering over the trash can in the dock:

  • How can I retrieve a mail message that was accidentally deleted.  It's not in the trashcan.

  • Upgrade to 11g - DBUA can't retrieve the version

    Hello,
    I'm upgrading 10.2.0.4 version to 11.2.0.2 and I have problem at the beginning.
    Immediately after the start of DBUA in the I get the error, that the version of the database can' be retrieved. Somewhere in the logs I have found:
    connect /****** as SYSDBA
    set echo off;
    @/u01/app/oracle/OracleHomes/db11g/rdbms/admin/rdbmsup.sql;
    exactly at this point I have big understanding problem.
    It looks like the new software wants to connect to the instance and can't. What should I do to allow it to do that? I have started the new(11g) listener and it it possible to connect to the old 10g instance, but the old instance runs in the old home. I can connect to it, but I must use the tnsname "emrep". Without using the tnsname it connects to the idle instance.
    SQL> conn / as sysdba
    Connected to an idle instance.
    SQL> conn sys@emrep as sysdba
    Enter password:
    Connected.
    Probably I have made some mistake during configuration of the listener, but I can't find any guidance in this direction. At all places where I'm looking I see only: "create new listener using netca and add the database in the Database Services tab for this listener using netmgr". Actually there is no need to do the last because tha databse is using the default port 1521.
    If I do only that, the I get in $ORACLE_HOME/networt/admin folder only listener.ora with the following contents:
    # listener.ora Network Configuration File: /u01/app/oracle/OracleHomes/db11g/network/admin/listener.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = mmredora.aegon-net.de)(PORT = 1521))
    ADR_BASE_LISTENER = /u01/app/oracle
    After that I see the databse registered with the listener:
    [oracle@mmredora-SID:emrep]$ lsnrctl status

    Can somebody help me with that?

    "could not get the database version from the "Oracle Server" component. The "CEP" file "/u01/app/oracle/OracleHomes/db11g/rdbms/admin/rdbmsup.sql" does not provide the version directive."
    but I have found some other problem.
    in rdbmsup.sql I found:
    SELECT version INTO inst_version FROM v$instance;
    vers := SUBSTR(inst_version,1,6); -- three digits
    ptch_version := SUBSTR(inst_version,1,8); -- four digits (patch release)
    IF (vers = '9.2.0' AND
    SUBSTR(ptch_version,1,8) = '9.2.0.8') OR
    (vers = '10.1.0' AND
    SUBSTR(ptch_version,1,8) = '10.1.0.5') OR
    (vers = '10.2.0' AND
    SUBSTR(ptch_version,1,8) != '10.2.0.1') OR
    (vers IN ('11.1.0','11.2.0')) THEN
    NULL; -- is a supported version
    ELSE
    -- version is some unsupported version
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('ODMA_DIRECTIVE:EXIT:NOT_INSTALLED:');
    RETURN;
    END IF;
    I have executed
    SELECT version INTO inst_version FROM v$instance;
    from sqlplus connecting to the old instance using a "tnsname" and get version 10.1.0.4, not "10.2.0.4" as it is in my papers. now I'm making upgrade to 10.1.0.5
    But it still bothers me: this "connect /****** as SYSDBA"! The text of the message sounds like "not possible to retrieve the version at all" - not that it is an unsupported version.

  • How to tell what version of a document the workflow ran against?

    I am using the OOB Approval workflow and in the workflow information I see a Document field, but that links latest version of the document. How can I tell what version of the document the workflow actually ran against?

    Hi,
    Set a variable in the workflow to be equal to the version of the document.
    Now you can use this variable to update a column in the document library with the version and date the workflow was ran. Next time the workflow runs, update this column with next run details.
    OR write this variable to workflow history. Hope it helps.

  • How Do We Find the Latest Version of a Document without its Path?

    Does anyone know how to find the latest version of a document in iFS when you don't know the path of the document? I'm using a Selector to search iFS based on a search string for the object's title and am not sure how to find the latest version of the returned documents.
    Thanks for any help.

    If you can use the Selector to get the public object then you are in good shape. Once you have the public object recast it to a Family. The method getLatestVersion() will return the public object of the latest version.

  • Webclient does not open previous added versions of bqy documents

    We are running IR/ workspace 9.3.1.3.0401 on weblogic.We have an odd behaviour in opening previous added versions of bqy documents.
    case:
    import a bqy document.
    add another version of this document (make it obvious and simple only a dasboard with a "1" and "2" in a text label should be enough. for this test)
    open the bqy as/ with IR webclient. (make sure this action opens the last added version.
    till so far no problems
    the open the previous version (File> Open > Document> (open as interactive reporting web client/ Version (choos the first or previous version) )
    It does NOT open the previouws version but the last posted version.
    strange is it?
    I opened a case at Oracle for this.
    (trying the same document with ihtml does not give a problem., it shows whichever version you ask for)

    Oracle confirmed this is a bug.

  • Unable to view version history if document status is in progress

    Hi,
    I have a SharePoint integrated workflow for document approval. The k2 workflow is working properly except there is an error when opening version history or document property of

  • Permanent link to specific version of a document

    When ‘Sharing’ documents is it possible to issue (say for emailing to someone) a permanent link to the document i.e. one which is locked to the version and not one that changes or fails if a new version is subsequently added?
    There appears to be two groups of document links in SharePoint, the current version and previous versions.
    The current document version is referenced by a canonical path:
    http://site/document library/document.doc
    A prior document version is referenced from a revision path. But this only works for non-current versions:
    http://site/_vti_history/versionID/document.doc  (Where versionID is generated by SharePoint)
    Therefore every time a new document revision is created the contents of the canonical path will change. The canonical path will point to the new document version while the previous version of the document is only available with the revision path.
    Therefore it is not possible to create a permanent link to a version of the document if at the time of issuing it is the current version.

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to create a permanent link to specific version of a document.
    If a new version is created, the contents of the canonical path will change. Although the version number will increase, the previous version number will not change.
    If you want version 1.0, then the URL for this version will always be
    http://site/_vti_history/512/document.doc.
    More information are provided in the link below:

  • Import warning when sending Word version of Pages document as attachment in Mail

    when sending Word version of Pages document in email, says character borders not supported so were removed, so email didn't have all of the text of the Pages document

    Not that I know of. Would be less practical than the option coming from Pages -- everyone using Pages probably has some default email client, but far from everyone using Mail would have iWorks and Pages. So building in the feature to Mail not so practical.

  • How to compare 2 different versions of a document in Lion?

    Supported applications in Lion reduntantly autosave several versions of a document, even if the user does not want to.
    Does anybody know how to compare two arbitrary versions and see in what they differ (kind of the old good diff command in Unix)?
    Thank you

    If yo will click on the name/title of the document (there'll be a small arrow on the right of it), you will get this menu:
    You can choose to browse all versions....
