Retrieve Contacts from Sprint Palm Pre

I need to retrieve my contacts and data from my sprint Palm Pre.   The device took a dip in the water and I have decided on going with something different.
How can I retrieve all the contacts from the device and transfer to the new phone?
Help would be much appreciated!
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

I have a similar situation. Lost my Palm Pre, decided on a different (not webOS) phone, want to transfer as much info as I can.
I saw the response saying you have to log in using a webOS phone. But what do you do next? Can you point me to a set of instructions for how to access Contacts and any other info I might be able to retrieve?

If your contacts are on icloud.com, download them as a vCard as explained here: iCloud: Export contact information as a vCard.  Then import them to your phone as explained in your manual.  If you aren't able to, you can create a Gmail account and import the vCard to Gmail as explained here: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/183711?hl=en, then add the Gmail account to your phone and sync your contacts from Gmail.
If they aren't on icloud.com, I'm not sure how you would access them from a backup on a Samsung, even if there was a backup.

    Actually, this is correct.
I didn't write they were not included in the backup, just why they are part of the backup.
    -> iTunes: About iOS backups
"iTunes will back up the following information
Contacts* and Contact Favorites (regularly sync contacts to a computer or cloud service such as iCloud to back them up).
    * Your contacts are part of the backup to preserve recent calls and favorites lists. Back up your contacts to a supported personal information manager (PIM), iCloud, or another cloud-based service to avoid any potential contact data loss."

  • Posting on the forum from your Palm PRE

Long time Palm user here. I really want to love WebOS.
This post was meant to be about losing my ability to download and save most podcasts. Due to a bug/glitch/flaw in the pre and in combination with how some sites work this has become impossible. (we are due for a fix any day now?)
But JUST attempting to post on this very forum turned out to be nearly impossible, from the Palm Pre.
Have you tried it? See what happens.
As soon as you begin to type in the text field the browser app automatically shifts focus to the top left corner. Meanwhile, as I type this in the Memo app to copy and paste later, the browser has inevitably gotten lost in the horrible memory shuffle and will have to refresh when I try to return to it.
Think we can get a fix for this minor browser annoyance?
All the little things are adding up to a really frustrating experience. I just have to ask. I can't be the only one having this much a frustrating experience with this phone?
Will "too many cards" be a permanent feature of the Pre hardware?
Slow! Will there be any speed enahncements in future updates? Is this even possible?
Email is practically unusable at times for how slow it can be.
Between lockup/slowdowns and the phone being stuck in headset mode a simple phonecall can be quite a task.
I could keep going, I'm sure you've heard all this by now,to be honest I just felt like venting my frustrations.

    Hello and welcome to the forums;
The issue with the browser moving when typing in a text entry field has been forwarded to our engineers, and may be resolved in a future update. We appreciate all the assistance of everyone who has brought this to our attention in the past.

  • Hotmail "Next Update in 0 Minutes" Error with Sprint Palm Pre

I've been having this problem only with my Hotmail account on my Sprint Palm Pre. For a time my Pre will sync just fine with Hotmail and I will receive my emails. Then it starts not to sync at all. It has an error message that says "Next update in 0 minutes."  I've restarted my phone and I've deleted and readded my Hotmail account, I've updated my PRL a gazillion times (it used to work, but not today!! , but the problem still happens.
This doesn't happen with my gmail account, but Hotmail's been my primary for a loooong time. If there's anything you know about why this is happening I'll keep my Hotmail account. But if this keeps going on I'll have to delete my account and switch to gmail.
Please advise as soon as possible. I know I'm not the only Pre/Hotmail user with this problem.  Thanks!

Is it possible to retrieve contacts from an icloud back up performed yesterday?

Chances are some files are still on the drive, just marked as deleted, but not actually overwritten by new content (unless you've synced AppleTv with the new machine thta is - don't if you haven't).
While you could apply 3rd party hacks or dismantle the AppleTv to access the hard drive partitions, in ths instance it's not going to be enough as you would need to have some decent Mac data recovery software to scan the drive and look for deleted files.
As Winston suggests this is not something for the casual user and if the photos are very valuable consider an expert data recovery service, but it won't be cheap, and there are no guarantees you'd get anything back.

I updated my iPhone onto my friend's MacBook
Why would you do that, and not on your own computer?  See the hassle it caused you?
can he just email me the folder
Backup files are too big to email.  Use FTP, DropBox, etc...
how do I then put all that data back into my current phone from the new computer?

  • Any way to tranfer contact information from a Palm Pre with a broken touch screen?

My beloved Palm Pre died last Friday with the touch screen failing.  It simply stopped responding to inputs.   I am able to unlock the phone and enter some commands from the slide out keypad, but I can't do much.  For example, I can type in "contacts" under just-type and then hit enter and it will take me to the contacts screen.  However, at that point I can't navigate around or open any contacts.   Other commands don't respond to the slide out keypad, such as the "USB Drive" prompt when I plug the phone into my laptop.
I have several contacts saved on the phone (and some on the SIM) that I can no longer access.  Most were backed up to my Outlook contacts but many are not.   Does anyone have any ideas about how I can move these to an alternate source (Outlook, Google, Desktop, etc) where I can then recover them.   I'm open to any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Crash.

There are several methods to export Palm Profile contacts such as:
    http://www.webosnation.com/how-to-export-and-move-your-contacts-patch
    and
    http://www.webosnation.com/how-to-export-your-webos-contacts-csv
but they all require a device with a responsive touchscreen. I am unaware of any way to access your webOS Profile data from HP's backup servers directly, without a device.
So...if you either know someone with a webOS device you could borrow, or find an inexpensive used one (eg eBay...or if you could use Verizon, get a no-contract Pre 2 from BestBuy for a mere $45!!!), and if you had Backup turned on, you should be able to restore them all by signing into your account on a replacement webOS device.

  • Retrieving contacts from PC Suite

Hi - my phone has been destroyed, and so I cannot connect it to the PC (or anything else for that matter) anymore. PC Suite has all my contacts, but the program doesn't seem to have an option for viewing contacts without first connecting the phone. How do I get access to my own contacts without connecting the phone?

As far as I know, you can't access the contacts within PC suite's back up files, nor can you access the callendar, notes and tasks, but you can access all other data within the back up files. You will need to connect a compatible phone to retrieve these contacts from PC suite.

  • Retrieving contacts from an ipod or Earthlink address book

My hard drive melted down and I mistakenly thought I had backed some things I actually hadn't. How is it possible to retrieve my contacts from my 80G ipod? From my Earthlink address book?

Thanks for the reply Julian, but I tried that and the only cards that show up in that "contacts" folder are the ones that come with the iPod: ipodcreatedsample.vcf and 2 others.
I brought this to the genius bar at my local Apple store, and they couldn't figure out how to do it, so this one is definitely a challenge. The genius bar advice was: "try to find a solution online." Aaack.

  • Temporary Switch from Broken Palm Pre Plus

I currently have a Palm Pre Plus with and Unlimited Data plan. I can no longer use it due to various damage, and rather than shill out $100 to the Asurion insurance I have on it, a friend gave me their Motorola Devour they no longer use. I was hoping to temporarily transfer my service over to the Devour until I can get my upgrade in January, but when I try to do it online, it tells me I must buy a tiered plan. This should not be true because I am switching from smartphone to smartphone. Is their a way to do this so that I keep my grandfathered plan?

Call in to Customer Service from another phone and have them assist you with the swap.  The different types of smartphones have different data plans on Verizon's back-end, so the rep should be able to help you.

Sorry if it wasn't, and yes I didn't deserve the "solved" must have been a error.
Don't worry, I "solve" plenty and people click the wrong button and give it to themsleves or to the wrong person, so your mistake went towards evening it out a little.

  • Retrieving contacts from phone before

My friend recently COMPLETELY locked herself out of her BBM. We tried the link forgot password. But to no avail. Subsequently she is not able to access any function on the phone.
We agreed that SECURITY WIPE is the way to go.The concern is how will she retrieve her contacts which were saved on the device. Please advice how we can go about this dillema

    1. Which contacts does your friend wish to save?
Her BBM contacts? BBM contacts will be connected with her BBID if she ever remembers her BBID password.
The device contacts, will not be saved if they are ONLY saved on the devivce. If your friend has ever performed a backup of her BlackBerry to her PC, or has BlackBerry Protect installed and backing up, she should be able to restore those contacts from the PC or Protect.
So, more information from you (or  her) is required for a specific answer.

  • Retrieving contacts from software without a Blackberry

    Hi
My Blackberry contacts are backed up on the BB desktop software. My BB phone is currently in for repair and I have a replacement Nokia phone.
Is there a way to access my backed-up contacts without a BB phone?
    Thanks
    James

If you have a backup of the device, you can use the PC software Magic Berry from MenaStep to extract the contacts from the backup file.
