Retrieve deleted sms

i have accidently deleted one of my sms from my iphone. please advice how can i retrieve the sms back. thanks

You cannot retrieve it, however if you have synced your iPhone since that SMS was received, you could restore your phone to that last backup that has the SMS. The only problem with that, is that you would lose everything else you have done since that backup. So it is kind of a trade. Which is more important, the SMS or what you have done since the backup.

If you backed up your iPhone after the texts were made and before you deleted them you can Restore them in iTunes from your backup.

  • Retrieving deleted sms from sms.db

I know there has been many questions related to retrieving deleted SMS. I apologize for redundancy but wanted to clarify what I have read on other internet sites. I understand SMS are not kept on the iphone sim card. I understand that if I both exchanged a conversation and deleted the conversation since my last sync, that SMS conversation will not be in the backup file and cannot be restored. From what I have seen on these forum's is that the conversation is gone and there is no way to retrieve it.
While searching on other sites, information was discussed about the deleted texts being stored in the /var/root/library/sms/sms.db despite being deleted previously. Also what I read was the only way to get to this database was to "jailbreak" your iphone, and is accessible only through a third party app, which I have no intention of doing.
My question is #1, is this information accurate that the sms are stored in the database despite being deleted?
#2 are there third party apps that allow users to access the iphone file system to get to this sms database that do not include this jailbreaking thing?
I do not want to do anything to the phone that would negate my warranty or go against what apple wants us to do, but if there are stored deleted sms on some database on the phone, and a way to get to them, i'd greatly appreciate any information on how to gain access. Thanks

    Middle1,
Text messages saved to the iPhone backup:
iPhone and iPod touch: About backups
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
When you sync your iPhone and changes are detected for the specified backup content on the iPhone, iTunes will replace the older backup with the new one retrieved from the iPhone at that moment. If you want a text message to be included in the backup, it's not advisable to delete it from the iPhone.
Personally when I wish to save an SMS, I find it more reliable to take a screen capture of it:
Topic : iPhone: How to take a screen shot
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1634964
Beyond that, you can try searching the App Store for other apps that may provide additional functionality. I personally am not aware of any.
    Hope this helps,
    Raleigh

  • How to retrieve deleted sms from Iphone 4

Is it true that all sms are backup in phone rather than SIM card for Iphone 4?
Is it possible for sms to be missing from Iphone 4 even we did not delete it?
For deleted sms, is there anyway to retrieve it without affecting the rest of the exisiting SMS?

sms's are in the phone memory yes
and when you delete them they are not moved to a trashbin or anything like that
so to get them back you need to restore a backup from the computer or icloud which was
taken before the sms was deleted
or you can try asking the carrier some anti terror law may cause them to keep a backup in their end

How to recover deleted conversations from my iPhone 4s

You would not be able to do this the best of my knowledge.
That SMS has been deleted. Gone from your iPhone forever. The only hope was that the backup of the iPhone (done by iTunes automatically) had a backup of that SMS message.
Connecting it to a mac would only back up the current version of your phone, which does not have the message.
One idea though, and I would love input on if this would work: Could he take the back up file, move it to a Mac and use Syphone to extract the message that way?

  • HT1766 How do I retrieve deleted texts from my iphone

I accidentally deleted a text from my iphone on July 11th. I need to retrieve that message, and I have no back up of it. Thanks!

With no backup, you'll have to use Google & search for one of the many paid programs that "claim" to be able to retrieve deleted SMS's from an iPhone.
Whether any work or not, I have no idea.

    Hi,
Did you ever back up your phone on the computer?
Did you use photo stream at all?
May I suggest changing your passcode lock to a letters and numbers lock (if not all ready it will make your iphone more secure and a restore lock otion shouldent be needed). Then change your setting as well preventing restore after ten incorect passwords.

  • How to retrieve lost sms deleted from mem card

    Hi,
I had a glitch composing a new message and I restarted my phone and realised all my messages, emails stored in the memory card are gone. The music files and apps are still there but only the messages.
Is there anyway I can retrieve these sms and put them back into my inbox?

    Hi,
I had the same concern in my N96. All my messages were deleted. This happened thrice with me. I had activated the silent profile & was listening to music in the handset, I received a message & the handset restarted. then all the messages in the handset were deleted. I had around 1300 messages. I tried a lot to retrieve those messages, but couldn't find any solution. I guess you cannot retrieve the deleted messages.

  • Recovery deleted sms using Iphone Backup Extractor

I purchased the iphone backup extractor everyone has suggested for me to find deleted sms. Its a complete joke. Scanned my files and came back with the results of sms extracted "251" so I open to see if my deleted text is in the file and there was only about 50 sent/receive sms and every sms was to the same person. I would like to know where the other "200" sms are that was extracted. Don't bother trying to get support on there website because the site doesn't have a search for help and only has Q&A solutions. Does anyone know about this software? Is there another program that will retrieve my deleted sms?

If you're sure on iCloud then make sure your iPhone is connected to the wall power socket and you have Wi-Fi connection.

  • Retrieving deleted Notes (iPhone)

This afternoon I inadvertently - and still without knowing how - while viewing a NOTE created on my iPhone in my MacBook's Mail program, deleted it. I'd like to extract it from a back-up (even if just the text).
    From Google, I've worked out:
    * backup files for iPhone are stored on your computer at ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
    * the files are stored as *.mddata and *.mdinfo files. The former are binary libraries that Apple use to store data, while the latter are text files that don't seem to be viewable with something like TextEdit
    * to view *.mddata files you download SQLite Manager, a plug-in for Firefox
So, for example, if you want to retrieve your SMS, you open SQLite then open the file called 3d0d7e5fb2ce288813306e4d4636395e047a3d28.mddata and you can export your SMS as a CSV file (amongst other file types). I tried this for this file and it works, so I know my backup files are not encrypted.
I've tried going through all of the backup files (*.mddata) to find the one that stores my Solitaire app stats and advertisements stats but ...
MY QUESTION: which of the backup files (*.mddata) is for NOTES on the iPhone?
    Is anybody able to help?
    Message was edited by: ozcatwoman

Well, I've tried extracting databases from different backup days then pointing SQLite Manager at the different extracted databases but the same CSV file keeps coming out - one containing my current notes, not the ones from whatever day I'm trying to see.
So, my next Q: Despite keeping separate files for each backup that occurs, does iPhone simply record over the files? so that the Note that would have been there on 5 Jan was overwritten on 9 Jan, meaning the 5 Jan files aren't unique anymore? If this is the case, it seems odd because I thought backups were there precisely so you could recover different versions of files.

    ISSUE FINALLY RESOLVED!!!!!!
So, it turns out, I had to restore the iPhone...with a twist! Here are the steps:
    FIRST BACK UP YOUR DEVICE
    1. Go to the library (Hold option, click on "go" in the finder, then go to library)
    2. Go to your iTunes folder in this Library (not application support, the main iTunes folder)
    3. Go to the iX software folder (i.e., iPhone software, iPad software, etc.) and delete the file in this folder
    4. Hook up the phone and then click on restore iPhone.
At this point, it will redownload the entire OS again. You must then restore the iPhone. As it is downloading the iOS, you can disconnect and use your phone for probably however long you want (I did the restore the same day as the download) and when you are ready you can hook up the phone and restore it.
    THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP FOLLOWS:
And one many may dislike. Upon restoring the phone, you MUST select "Set-Up as new iPhone"
You need to make sure you've backed up EVERYTHING elsewhere. 3rd party, non-apple/icloud apps will lose data through this method, and you'll lose all texts, your call history, and super old voicemails. The upside is that, if you've backed up, then you can just restart the process if you forgot something. But seeing as how the popup was interfering with my ability to use iCloud (I couldn't sync anything, such as calendar events, reminders, etc.,  unless I had gone into mail to sign in to iCloud), it was totally worth it....no more popups.
My only wish is that this thread becomes popular. Many people have this issue and you should only use this method as a super last resort (after trying literally everything I had written previously).
